How To Share A Partition From Windows 7 With Xp

Dec 28, 2011

I have in a workgroup a Windows 7 Ultimate X64 laptop and a Windows XP Pro SP3 desktop PC. If i try to share a partition from W7 i can see it over network in XP but i can't access the files or folders from it, the error being this one: "\ComputerNamePartitionName is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if yout have access permissions. Access is denied." In W7 i've set Everybody with full access (read and write); both computers have Windows Firewall and BitDefender Internet Security installed on them but doesn't seems to be important since i've tried to use the shared partition from W7 with Firewalls and BitDefenders On and Off and the problem was the same!

Wireless :: Ubuntu On Laptop Partition Won't Connect

Jun 13, 2011

I have a Sony Viao PCG-71312L laptop that has Windows 7, 64-bit as OS. I loaded on Ubuntu as want to learn more about Linux. The wireless locator finds the signal but won't connect.It says "ethos" and then when you click from there I don't get through. Just seems to keep looking forever, then says after 3 minutes can't connect.It could be I need a specific driver for the Ethernos wireless device, I am not sure. Further I am had a hacking where I had to change wireless settings so I may have done it myself. I am able to connect on my Windows 7 wireless network account but not the Linux one. I tried deleting the account on the Linux Ubuntu that shows up but this didn't work.May have made worse.Is this on my wireless device side, meaning I need to change/get password ect or the Ubuntu side where it's some type of common problem. Do I need to access through the router web page? Incidentally that's blocked for me too.

Unable To Set A Hard Drive Partition To Be Shared?

Feb 18, 2013

Two physical drives. Drive 0 has two partitions C and D. C is operating system (XP Pro) and D is data only. Drive 1 has one partition F and is used for internal backup. Drive F can be set to be shared. Partition D on Drive 0 will not accept sharing. It reverts back to the $D admin share after setting up a new share. The icon (hand) that indicates shared drive does not appear either. I assume there is a registry setting that has drive 1 blocked, but am unable to find it.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: X3000 - Detecting HDD With NTFS / FAT32 Partition?

May 29, 2012

I've tried to attach my external HDD to X3000 router and share entire partition through my home network, but it didn't detect any HDD with NTFS partition and some FAT32 partitions as well. Does it support NTFS partition and detects them to share through network? If not, is there any plan to add this feature to support NTFS partitions? Personally, I think today all media files which are using to share in home networks are huge and big files, usually more than 2GB and require to be stored in NTFS drives.

Cisco :: Verify Default FWSM Boot Partition On 6500 Version 12.2(17r)?

Mar 12, 2013

The network gods recently updated our 6500 and upon reboot, the FWSM booted to CF:1 maintence partition,which caused an immediate outage. On the router, I ran the following command to set the default FWSM boot partition to the configuration with:Router#boot device module 4 cf:5 However, it appears the "show boot device" command has been replaced with "show bootvar" which doesn't show me which partition the router will boot the FWSM to. Is there a command I can run from the Router that will actually confirm the boot partition for the FWSM if the router reloads.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 - Any Utilities To Get To Data In Unallocated Partition

Sep 30, 2012

I've lost about a TB worth of data. I'm rebuilding a computer and had my hard drive, a Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB, in an external enclosure so that I could access files from it until I could move them to a new drive. I just happened to hook the drive up to the USB port on my new Linksys EA3500 router and now I can't see anything. I believe the process of plugging the drive in, allowed the router to mess with the partition table of my drive. Before, when things worked I saw three logical drives. one of about 50-75 MB of reserved space. One of about 80 GB that was my original system drive and one of about 920 GB that was my main data drive. All of these were NTFS. Now when I look at the drive, all I see is one drive FAT32 drive of about 71 MB.If I look at the drive under Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management, I see the drive is made up of a 71 MB FAT 32 Primary Partition and a 932 GB Unallocated partition.Am I totally screwed? Is my data still there and is there any way for me to access it or any utilities I can use to get to my data in this unallocated partition? What the heck did this thing do to my drive without permission?

Protocols / Routing :: Partition Departmental IP Network Address Block To Create Staff / Student Subnet?

Sep 28, 2011

partition the departmental IP network address block to create a staff and a student subnet. Each of these will be identified by its own network address and netmask. It is university policy that you must be economical with the IP addresses. That is, the subnets must be as small as possible, but they must be large enough to accommodate the maximum number of hosts you were given. Also, it is university policy that the respective gateway router to the outside world should always be given the highest possible host IP address in the subnet. The student subnet should have a higher IP network address than the staff subnet. The network must be able to support up to 60 machines on the staff subnet (not counting the router) and up to 120 machines on the student subnet (also not counting the router).

IP address/netmask
University network address127.158.128.0
University network mask255.255.192.0
University internet gateway IP address127.158.191.254
Department network mask255.255.254.0
Department router address127.158.129.254

Suppose that the network address of the departmental network is 127.158.128.0 (calculated by AND between Dep network mask and Dep router address)I know that 60 machines would use 6 bits for the staff subnet.the netmask of staff would be 255.255.255.192.how can I figure out the the IP network address of the staff subnet.I have worked out the range for the staff subnetwork.

127.158.128.0 - 127.158.128.63
127.158.128.1 = Gateway address
127.158.128.63 = Broadcast address

Now how can I calculate the IP network address of the staff subnet?

Browsers Lose Connection To Internet / Despite Still Having A Connection?

May 13, 2012

Every time I boot up my computer, everything will be working fine for about 5 -10 minutes, but after this, all my browsers will lose connection to the Internet. All of them: IE, firefox, chrome, even the steam browser, all of them just lose connection.The weird thing is, my net connection is perfectly fine: I can still play online games, still use online chat services, still open and use programs like utorrent. It's like something is just blocking all my browser connections.When I run a network troubleshooter, it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Corporation: Software, Smartphones, Online, Games, Cloud Computing, IT Business Technology, Downloads) is not responding."I googled this and came across some apparent fixes like flushing and re-registering my dns and restarting my modem, niether of which has worked.In addition, this problem is showing up on two totally separate shared networks and has only affected my computer. Other netwworked devices, like friends/families computers and my iPhone (which I am using to type this) work fine.

LAN Connection But No Internet - Internet Gateway Disabled?

Nov 6, 2011

I have a desktop computer that I have used for years and it has always worked just fine. We have AT&T (DSL, not cable) and it used to connect just fine but then I moved out, left everything plugged in exactly as it was and when I came back it wouldn't connect.It connects to the LAN but not to the internet. When I go in cmd to type ipconfig the DNS suffix is blank on that computer but says gateway.2wire.net on my wireless laptop. I eventually disabled UPnP on it because that's what alot of people were saying fixed the problem but it didn't fix anything. All it did was make the Internet Gateway Connection box disappear.Originally it was plugged in like so: Cable from wall > Cable Box > PC Now it is hooked up like this: Data cable from wall > DSL > Router > PC It stopped working BEFORE it was switched to DSL so that isn't the problem The DSL we have is "AT&T 2701HG-B 2Wire Wireless Gateway DSL Router Modem" and the Router it is plugged into that goes to my PC is a Linksys Wireless Router Model WRT54GS The PC is Windows XP Home, SP2?

Internet Connection On And Off

Aug 29, 2012

I recently moved into a new place and my internet's been very spotty at best. The internet seems very fast at times but slows down, and even completely stop working, at other times. The weird thing is that my computer never says I'm disconnected from the internet. Instead, I either get disconnected from my games or the webpages I try to load show that it "cannot be displayed." The place I moved into provides wall jacks for a T-1 internet connection. I've tried directly connecting the ethernet cable to my desktop/laptop as well as connecting it to a router and trying out the wireless, all to no avail. The problem only seems to be resonating from where I'm currently living, as when I go onto campus, the wireless is fine.Also tried turning off firewalls, using a different browser, resetting the router, and a new ethernet cable.

Cannot Keep Internet Connection

Mar 15, 2011

I have a desktop that had issues, so I cleaned the hard disk and reinstalled the software like when it was new. I have updated all the windows and network card updates.When I first start the computer, I can connect to the internet for about 2-5 minutes then lose the connection. Often, internet explorer shows a screen that says the site is busy and try again later, but we can connect fine on other computers. Our internet connection comes from a DSL modem to a Cisco Valet Plus wireless router, however this computer is connected by a hard wire to a port on the router. I have changed ports, but have the same issue. The computers connected wirelessly stay connected.

I can restart the computer and the internet will work for 2-5 minutes again, but then do the same. If I go to ipconfig and release and renew, it still will not connect to the internet.

There is a Laptop, an xbox and another Desktop along with an ipod and ipad that are all functioning properly whilst being connected to the same network. I also have an xbox in my room next my PC which is having the same issue, it picks up xbox live but nothing works. Perhaps the issues are connected or share a common problem? either way it has left me stumped .I've power cycled multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled my wireless receiver a even tryed using a brand new one. I called telstra (my isp) and they said they can't do anything because the receiver i use is not from telstra. I can use a wired connection fine its just the wireless, however it needs to stay wireless as i'm on the 2nd story of my house and my modem is on the first story. here are my results from ipconfig /all. Lan Is Working But No Internet Connection

Oct 9, 2011

I've got a wireless connection in my house going through a Linksys WRT54GC router and also a wired connection with Cisco gateway (only 1 laptop uses it). About 1 month ago some strange things began to happen with the wireless connection, my PC seems not to be able to connect unless I reinstall the protocols and it's really annoying to do that every time I run my PC. Also, the wired connection stopped working (probably because of cable being broken) but it requires a router restart 90% of the time when I want to connect the laptop (that used to connect through cable) to the wireless network. The 2nd laptop has an issue mentioned in the title, the LAN works but it can't connect to the Internet through the router. Ipconfig /all shows that DHCP isn't working, there's no default gateway and DNS seems to be wrong. Could that all be related to router not being updated for a long time? I tried reinstalling drivers, unistalling and installing back network card and doing most of the things mentioned in similar threads but nothing seems to work.
