My laptop was working fine then all of a sudden it lost its connection and now says that no connections are available which i know is wrong because my phone and ps3 are working fine on the wifi.

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently, due to some reason I have not yet figured out, my laptop has started bugging out with the wi-fi and connecting to my wireless connection at home. What it does is it keeps trying to connect, and sort of connects. It gets that little yellow triangle, and says Limited Connectivity. When I check the status, I am in fact getting an IP address, and everything SEEMS to be in order. On my router's configuration page, however, I cannot see my laptop's MAC address in the list of attached wireless devices. The internet does seem to work for about a few minutes every time I restart the router.
At first I thought it might have been an IP conflict issue, so I tried setting up a static IP on my laptop. Then I tried reserving an IP for my laptop through the router. Then I tried both. And while all three attempts seemed to have fixed the problem, it came back within a few minutes.

I connected my home laptop to the work network to download some (legal) software (by cable) but it didn't work. When I detached it the internet access to the desktop machine was not functioning. That was diagnosed as a problem with the I.P. address (presumably when i attached my laptop.) It was fixed over the phone through a START>RUN>CMd>config process. Now I find that my laptop won't connect to my NetGear home link (also cable) and wonder if the same problem might be happening, that connecting the laptop to the work network has scrambled it's recognition of the server or the I.P. address.I tried updating Kaspersky 2011 databases but it just keeps saying 'source not found'Another laptop using the same router connects perfectly each time.

Log-in screen is presented, but the desktop never appears on the client machine. Connecting the subject laptop via an Ethernet cable, cures the problem, and the connection succeeds, so we can rule out problems with RDT configuration, firewalls, and third party software. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop and a laptop. I can't get wireless or a wired connection to the router so I need to use my laptop to connect to the internet in the short term. I have connected to the computers using an ethernet cable. I can get to local fine but no internet.
I have attempted to bridge the two connection but when I click on resolve it says there is an IP conflict. I can't see where.
I have also tried ICS but it keeps saying there was an error when attempting to enable it although I did manage to allow it to connect at one point before it reverted back to not working it still wouldn't allow the desktop internet access. All services are running.

I know it's not my router because my cousin came over and had zero problems with his wireless connection. I have to reset my laptop at least once a day because it decides there are no wireless connections and I can no longer right click it if this happens. Every once and a while I'll just have to unplug my router and plus it back in to fix the problem if trouble shooting wont work.

They have computer's connected into it with a wired connection. My laptop is a wireless one. The connection will drop roughly 10 times a day. And the odd thing is , to get the connection to show back up on my wireless connection lists, i need to restart the router or it doesnt show. Its not a problem with signal strength, and obviously no problem with the router as my parent's stay connected during this. I called my ISP, they told me to call gateway. I did , and after that, i will never in my life associate with anything gateway ever, ever , again. I'm sure its a setting or software issue
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my boyfriend and I just moved and, after struggling with our old wireless router we haven't used in years (pretty sure it was dead), we bought a whole new one in the hopes that starting from scratch would be simpler. It's a Netgear and we were aiming to hook up three devices through it; my laptop, his computer, and our Xbox 360.
He hooked it up no problem and we were using wifi for our computers and one ethernet cable through the router into the Xbox, peach as pie... Except my Toshiba laptop decided to rebel and allow me to use the internet for about five minutes before claiming there's "no internet." The signal says excellent and the little alert symbol keeps appearing and disappearing, but no pages will load. I tried running troubleshooting, but it couldn't identify the problem. Shutting down my laptop and turning it back on seems to be the only way to get it going again for another five minutes until the cycle continues.
Due to the untimely demise of my old wireless adsl router (after an altercation with a destructive toddler), I've bought a new one.Connected it via cable to my laptop, & have set it all up through the wizard. When I'm connected via cable, I can access the internet perfectly well.However, if I try to connect using wireless, it can see the wireless router, asks for password, tells me I'm connected to the router - but it tells me that I'm in a local network only (can't find the internet). I've connected another laptop and a few smartphones to wireless, and they all work without any problem at all.I've done the usual take it all apart & start again, but it still comes back to the same problem.The only thing I wondered was that the new router is Wireless N, whereas the old laptop is a b/g - but we've got an older HTC smartphone that's only b/g and that doesn't have any problems.

But I have been having major issues with internet speed. I browsed through the forums and, as a result, updated my LAN driver with the latest driver for the Intel LAN Driver V17.3.0.0
I have the virgin media super hub with up to 60mbps download but rarely get over 20 and even then the download of webpages seems glitchy... on evenings it is terrible with 0.5 to 1.5mbps being the norm.The problem is also affecting Chrome which struggles to render maps and stream videos such as 720p videos on youtube even when I have a tested connection of 30ish. I usually resort to using Explorer, reducing videos to 360p or even 240p.I've reinstalled Chrome a few times but still no change.
What is going on??I also have an old Dell Inspiron laptop which works brilliantly with the fast internet - where the speed of the hardware is the only limiting factor.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my issue has been going on for a while now a while after I replaced the router from a DIR-535(If I recall) to a DIR-635. Now the problem resides in my computer however as it would seem that I randomly tend to loose internet acces and it only applies to my computer in the form of obviously loss of internet and the horrid warning triangel in the corner. I've tried removing and restarting the connection without any succes, I also tried to do a ipconfig /release /flushdns and /renew but it didnt seem to do anything either, basically been throwing attempts at a wall to see what works.
As far as the actual card goes it's a Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter.
It pretty much just stopped working one day. I have reset my router completely. I have tried the netsh commands. I have tried using different dns ip addresses. I have released and renewed ipconfig. I have reset both my cable modem and my wireless router. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless drivers and made sure they were up to date. None of these things worked.
Here is the story. My laptop will not connect to the internet even though it says it is connected and shows the SSID when you hover over the wireless on the bottom. I have an iPad, iPhone, and another laptop connected to this exact wireless connection. The laptop that does not connect (the one i am having problems with) recently connected to another home wireless network this past weekend in another house so it is not the card in the laptop. It seems to be settings in this particular laptop with just this wireless connection as the wired connection using the same router works just fine. It DOES NOT time out when I ping websites in the command prompt. I get returned values. I have tried several browsers and none of them work. It will not connect to AIM either. I have spent many hours trying to figure out what the hell has changed and why this connection won't work. I really need this connection for work.

However when I got to WPA encryption, the laptop works fine until I leave it in standby or shut it down. In order to connect it after leaving in on standby or a shutdown I need to reset my Linksys router.I have another laptop that never seems to drop the wireless connection, so I don't think it's a router issue, but something on the other laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMe and my family have a PC that runs on Windows Vista service pack one. We have it hooked up to the Internet (Verizon DSL). And knock on well it has a great connection and has never given us any problems.We run a LAN line on this connection. No wireless at all. Yes we are still in the stone age. Well the other day my mother gave my step daughter her laptop ( Dell Latitude D610, it has Windows XP service pack two on it). They had it set up for wireless. So, I disabled that connection and went to the LAN connection that was set up and enabled it. Everything was set to obtain a address. I hooked up a Ethernet cable that went from the DSL straight to the laptop. No connection at all, not even a local one.So then I read the other day that you could type in the IP, Subnet and Gateway address from the working PC into the laptop and things should work. Well, I did this. Yes, I did get a local connection but still nothing on the Internet side. Then I thought, hmm maybe it needs to be done threw a router. I had a NETGEAR (Fast Ethernet Switch) FS 108 so I hooked everything up to that.
My PC connection works great. Very fast. However the laptop still, no luck. I left the IP, Subnet and Gateway address the same on the laptop. At first I got a error message saying that there was two machines on the same network using the same IP address(or something to that effect). So, I went back to the lap top and clicked to obtain a address. And got no connection at all. No local or internet. On the laptop I have released and renewed using the various Ipconfig commands. I have pinged the new address and it was a success. That address is 169.254.181.107. I Pinged the Subnet and it too cam back a success. I tried pinging a web page and no luck at all. I also have power cycled everything. And still the same result. Oh and when I did the Ipconfig /renew to get the address above it never did give me a default gateway. It came up blank.The laptop did have Norton Internet protection on it so disabled it. Or at lest I think I did. I right clicked on it and disabled it. So, I think I did it right. I also disabled the windows firewall and still no luck.The PC connections work great and it's hooked up threw the router as well. Just having trouble with the laptop.I would run the Ipconfig /all cmd on the laptop, but as I said I cant hook it up to the computer nor do I have any recordable CD's or a usb drive.
When I try to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, I select the connection I want and it says it's connected.
However when I go to the wireless connection properties it is sending but not receiving and it won't connect to the internet. I went to the CMD and typed in IPCONFIG and get the message saying my "Media Not Connected."
I have pushed the green button on the router so my laptop can pick up the settings but it still won't connect. Also, I took my laptop to my friends house and was able to connect on their wireless.
I am on Windows Vista.
The internet connection works perfectly, all other devices can connect properly to the internet. It simply says no internet access, in spite of being connected properly to the Wifi network.My hp laptop however drops the connection every 2 or 3 days and won't connect for hours, then will resume connection after a humptieth reboot. It's been going on since July.
