The internet connection works perfectly, all other devices can connect properly to the internet. It simply says no internet access, in spite of being connected properly to the Wifi network. My hp laptop however drops the connection every 2 or 3 days and won't connect for hours, then will resume connection after a humptieth reboot. It's been going on since July. I have no idea why it drops the connection in the middle of activities or at boot, and no idea why it reconnects either.I tried a fixed IP, Winsock resets, programs that supposedly tweak the registry, renewing the ipconfig, something with ipv6, ipv4, and anything else I could find. Internet was working great a few days ago with my e2000 and comcast as my ISP. I've got a few devices connected through ethernet connections on the unit. We also connect to the e2000 wirelessly.Problems started yesterday with no internet. Last night I rebooted everything and still nothing works. Connected laptop to cable modem directly. Wasn't getting internet connectivity so I called Comcast. They reset my modem and everything started working fine. Now I can directly connect from cable modem to laptop and internet works fine. I try connecting the modem to the router and still no internet.
I have 2 laptops in my home, I had no problem getting one to connect to the internet. The second one I'm having trouble connecting, I am wireless, I didn't have a problem at my old house with another laptop connecting to the internet with this router. I'm trying to save myself some money by not going through my wireless company, and end up having to get their router, which I already have their modem.
I have a Vaio laptop that shows full bars connection to my Belkin_Enhanced_E98E8F modem but when I try to connect them it tells me "the wireless security key is not correct". Well, i know for a fact it IS correct.
I am having trouble with connecting my Xbox 360 to the internet through my laptop using a bridge connection. Everything works absolutely fine, after reading all of the posts in URL,I followed practically the same steps, using my network information instead. The xbox finds the network but the DNS servers cannot resolve the names of the Xbox live servers or Xbox.com.I was wondering if there was a step somewhere I had missed or needs to be changed. I've already gone through the motions of checking the router and everything.
I recently had Verizon high speed internet installed in my house. I connected a laptop to the router with an ethernet cable and everything works fine. I managed to connect with another laptop and another computer via wifi and they also work fine. I now want to disconnect the ethernet cable and allow the original laptop to be mobile around the house. When I first tried this everything worked fine. When I tried again (with the ethernet cable still connected) the wireless internet connection was recognized but would not allow me to connect. The message was something to the effect of "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." The network is certainly there and the router is right next to the laptop - fully in range. The same thing happens when I disconnect he ethernet cable. A few times the router didn't even show up in the list of wireless interner connections. I might have changed some setting someplace but I don't know which one.

Its an old laptop I just got repaired now I can't connect to the internet. I'm using my desktop to type this and my other laptop works fine too with the internet connection with my Netgear router.
HP,Model #: crvsa-02ti-90 Windows XP Professional v.2002 Service Pack 3 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 GHz
Now I saw other threads like this so I did the cmd prompt inconfig/all:
Windows IP Configuration
Host name: sue-ann Primary dns suffix: Node Type: Broadcast IP Routing Enable: Yes WINS Proxy Enabled: No
My D-Link won't allow my laptop to connect to the Internet through an Ethernet connection. I set up the router using a standard Ethernet patch cable and cloned the laptop's MAC address to connect through the Mediacom modem. I then decided to test out the wireless and got that all set up, works perfect. Now I cannot connect to the Internet using the Ethernet cable.
My laptop is reading a full WiFi signal from my router. I am currently connected to the router via Ethernet on the same laptop. I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router - power cycle modem and router - removed saved network information from the laptop
My laptop, windows 7, is telling me there are no connections available. My iPad and phone are connected. I've removed my wifi network and replaced it, I've restarted my laptop, I've deleted other networks.
Our HPG62 notebook and a Dell laptop use wireless router in our home. This AM the Dell connects via wireless, the HP shows green on our wireless network but but the house symbol above the list of available wireless networks says "no internet access". I've tried looking for an external switch but don't see one. We are fairly basic users and don't know what to do.
I have a Dell E4300 with a 1510 wireless mini adapter running windows 7 pro with a netgear WNR3500 router running wireless N protocol. I have my laptop setup to sleep when lid is closed. When it awakens the wireless connection will not automatically reconnect and I have to manually select the SSID and connect. It will also reconnect if I use the network troubleshooter. The problem does not happen if I reboot the PC or start from a power off situation. I have the latest Dell driver and I am running the DWLAN utility.
I live in a house with four other people so I need a lot of free ethernet ports.I currently have three routers daisy-chained together and I want to add a fourth, but I can't seem to.When I plug it up, pages refuse to load on computers connected to it. I read something about disabling DHCP, but I have two other routers chained to my primary and didn't need to do that. This one's branching off the main one though, instead of being at the end of the chain.I'm trying to hook up either the Linksys 4-port wired router or the 8-port one (I have both). I tried disabling DHCP on it and setting the IP thing to 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.1 and it worked for a few minutes, then nothing.I also tried that with the TRENDnet one and the same thing happened (had to reset that one to factory defaults). Is it possible to have two routers coming off another or does it need to be a proper chain? Why did I not have to disable DHCP on the others and they still work fine?
Had Infinity installed yesterday which means we're up from our awful 3mb speeds to around 35ish. A partner in my household is using a laptop downstairs and it's getting the full speeds, no problems.
However, upon plugging in a wireless adapter upstairs in a PC, it's not getting the full speeds, not even close. A mixture between 1mb and on one occasion about 8mb. The speedtest is showing something like 400ms too. I stick a wire into the PC and it's fine, around 30 or so ms and hitting the full speeds available. The wireless adapter is a Phillips, never really had any problems with it before, not that I know of anyway.
Our LAN should have 2 VLANs; one for our servers and clients belonging to the company (servers are on public IPs, while clients have LAN IPs), and one for guest users (visitors and other outsiders who are given Internet access from us).
Our current network setup works just fine, using a bridged firewall server between the VDSL modem and the network switch (where all the other servers are connected), and internal users are routed through either a WLAN router or another server. The RV220W will replace the WLAN router as well as the routing and firewall servers, combining these tasks into one.
The target network setup would have three "zones";the servers (using IPs 213.x.x.0/26, static assignments, no DHCP), local LAN for employees (cable, WLAN or VPN with PPTP - using IPs 192.168.15.x/24 assigned by DHCP, compatible with the existing setup), and local LAN for visitors/guests (WLAN only, using IPs 192.168.0.x/24 assigned by DHCP).
From the RV220W's admin interface itself, I'm able to ping outside IP addresses, but neither the test server on the public IP or the test client on the local IP seems to be able to ping the outside, or eachother (ie. from the client's local IP to the server's public IP).
The Rv220W is already in router mode (ie. not in NAT mode), and the LAN ports are properly tagged for each network segment.
I recently replaced my working WRVS4400N v2 Router with an RV180W. Unfortunately I am now stymied, as I am unable to use WDS to connect my WAP4410N to the RV180W to fill a dead spot. I tried calling support (case # 623405011) but we were unable to get communications working correctly - even when the two devices were less than 5 feet apart. The engineer's final suggestion wwas to put the WAP4410N bact to factory default, connect it to a laptop, and compare settings side-by-side...thats 2 hours of my life I will never get back as it was a useless endeavor. The WAP4410N is on 2.0.5.3, and the RV180W is on 1.0.1.9 (Both are on the latest available firmware).
My question would be what Cisco device would be best matched with this RV180W so I can use WDS and fill in the hole. I have no problem, just as long as it works and stays stable, as I had with the WRVS4400N / WAP4410N setup. Optionally, is there some other setting the engineer missed? The RV180W is my gateway router and primary wireless access point, I just need to fill some spaces where there is interference.
I have a couple of Ethernet cables, however a lot of them have their latches broken off but that hasn't stopped my laptop from working but it isn't just that when i plug in a Ethernet cord with the latch into the port of the 660s no lights show up, plus when i put in another cable, i guess some regular cord , i do get lights but that doesn't connect me to the internet...and i am just confused.
So what i am trying to say is: Is there something wrong with the port?
Do I need to change my Ethernet Cable?
Or is there something else completely wrong that i am not seeing?
We've never had to do this before: best practice on setting up an additional subnet on a physical network?
For example, main network is 10.1.1.1, we need to setup an additional 10.1.2.1 to support more devices. We need both subnets to see each other and the servers on 10.1.1.1. We also need the new subnet to have access to the internet.Equipment we have: HP 2824's (2 current VLAN's - second one is for phones) and Untangle for our firewall.
I have an E4200 running firmware v1.0.03.Works fine for a period of time (might be hours, might be days) then throughput drops to something in the range of 1-3M when typically I'll see 6-8M (DSL). I can reset the DSL modem, hubs, etc but the problem isn't fixed until I reset the E4200; so I've pretty much narrowed it down to the router.
I am looking for a router to route between VLANs on a Cisco Small Business 300 Series 10-port Gigabit Managed Switch. The router needs to support 802.1Q and also have Gigabit ports.I have been looking at the Cisco small business RV series of routers but most of these seem like Wireless routers and I don't know if these will act as proper routers.I already have a Cisco SRP547 and this does not seem to have proper 802.1Q support.
I have a TPLink WDR3600 wireless router wired to AT&T's cable modem. The modem assigned this ip to the router: 192.168.1.60. The router creates a network with these IPs: 192.168.0.x
Question: I want to be able to RDP into my laptop that's connected to the router (ip: 192.168.0.4). Before I had a router I would just open the firewall on the cable modem and expose the laptop but now it feels like there's two layers i need to go though: the cable modem and then the router.
How do those two work together? Should I put the router in the cable modem's DMZ Zone and then just work on the router? If I want to open just a port do i need to open it both on the cable modem and the router? How does the incoming connection know which device to go to? How does it know to go to 192.168.0.4 instead of 192.168.0.2 for example?
Here's the components: 1 - AT&T 2Wire cable modem. Internet comes in the house through this box. Assigns IPs like this: 192.168.1.xxx 2 - TP-Link WDR3600 gigabit/wireless router. Assigns IPs like this: 192.168.0.xxx 3. WD My Book Network Storage. Wired connection. 4. Desktop PC. Wired connection. 5. Laptop PC. Wireless. 6. 1 ipad, 2 iphones. Wireless.
Current setup: 1. internet cable goes into 2Wire Modem.Wireless on this device is OFF. 2. cable goes from LAN port on modem to WDR3600 router's internet port 3. cables go out from router to Desktop PC and Network Storage 4. all other devices are connected to the 5GHz wireless network created by the router.
Can I power the 1552e with the proper poe injector if I am not using the ethernet port for backhaul? I want to get power thru poe but use a fiber for backhaul.

My router box and the router itself are listed as 741N. I find no reference in the forums or on the website to this model. During setup, I can ping the router from the cmd prompt, but then it fails during the Easy-Setup assistant. I need to use the Easy setup because the language is otherwise Chinese, but it fails the network test. One of the two messages it sends are "Check the Model number". Is this a possibility? Is there a work around or where can I find the proper Setup Assistant software?
i have a question about the proper method to setup up vlan(s) on a sg200 switch with a sv220w router. Should i setup the vlan on the router or the switch? I have small office setup, i need atleast 2 vlans to separate the networks. i want both to have internet access but be completely isolated from each other.
Our company lost a switch and replaced it with a SF300-24. The other components are a Westell modem and an Amped Wireless R10000G router.
The current configuration has the Westell DLS modem going into the R10000G router, the router is the DHCP server and from there it is plugged into port 1 of the switch (DHCP is off on the switch).
So the problem is the computers on the network randomly drop off the network during the day and sometimes upon booting them up in the morning won't even see the local network. If I unplug the R10000G and then plug back in that fix's the problem for a few hours but then sooner or later the computers randomly drop off.
There is one network printer set to a static IP address. It never seems to have an issue. I have tried setting some of the computers to static but they still have connection issues at some point.
Right now the Self-signed Certificate on my RV180W generates errors as it was issued to the MAC address instead of the current IP address. Need instructions on Generating a Self-Signed certificate (or 1 from my Windows Server 2012 Certification Authority) that will eliminate the constant barreage of certificate errors I get when trying to access the management interface of my device? the internal domain is mythos.local, netbios name of MYTHOS, and the device name in question is surtur.
Buy new one Linksys E3200. Two day using and now have such problem. Every 30 minutes WiFi connection disappears for 10-15 sec. Then appear, but you can't connect to WiFi network for next 30 seconds. Update firmware of router to last version, but it doesn't work.
I bought router WAG160n half year ago. At the begining router worked ok but now I have a problem. Sometimes my Internet slow down. When Internet works bad I have problem with open router websites and when I send ping to router I have very bad answer like 300-2000 ms (distance router to computer 3 meters). Than I restart router and everything is ok. Aha, Internet with cable works ok everytime.I have problem when I send big file to another computer with Wi-Fi
I have been looking at the Cisco Hardware docs and I can't find anything on the proper way to setup a 2 switch stack for Stackwise redundancy and Stackpower redundancy. Everything details 3 or more switches.
