Cisco Wireless :: Power 1552e With Proper Poe Injector?
Oct 13, 2012Can I power the 1552e with the proper poe injector if I am not using the ethernet port for backhaul? I want to get power thru poe but use a fiber for backhaul.

View 4 RepliesI keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
I need a power Injector compatible for WAP 4410N.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe are planning a wireless network using the 1602i APs. Some of our APs might or might not be within the 100m limit from the switches, so we'll be running them as repeaters instead. Right now, we are planning on buying power injectors for everything, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:
If I'm running an AP as a repeater (no ethernet running back to a switch), can it still receive power from a power injector and a short ethernet run between the injector and the AP? Or will I need to use a power adapter?
Contrary to the information contained in the link above, these two parts do not play well together. I purchased both and plugged them in and no go. It doesn't even light anything on the WAP. It worked fine when it was on its own 12V DC adapter but not plugged into this injector. What I don't understand is why Cisco doesn't just make a Universal power injector that is essentially a 1 port switch and is 802.3af or 802.3at compatible. Its maddening. It looks like I'm going to have to get an SD208P and waste 6 ports just to get one with the correct POE for the WAP4410.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed an Aironet 1130AG and utilized a power injector for the power source. I have the settings configured correctly in IOS, but the AP takes about 7 minutes to come on (illuminate LED status lights) once the Ethernet cable is connected. Is this 7 minute power-on delay normal when using POE? I am used to the instanteous "on" that usually comes with Cisco products being connected directly to the AC adapter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to lower the power draw on the Aironet 1552e AP (AIR-CAP1552E-N-K9) so it will run on a standard PoE device (IEEE 802.3af). The spec sheet for the AP says you need to either use the Cisco PoE injector (AIR-PWRINJ1500-2=).Is there possibly a firmware upgrade/downgrade or some sort of command I can use?The APs being used are running LWAPP and require a controller.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are looking at purchasing two of the WAP4410n Access Points to add wireless in one building, and possibly replace Wireless G in another. In our building already configured, we have POEs set up and this has worked to centralize everything that has to be monitored. We would like to do the something with the WAP4410n. With the access points we already have, they are Pre POE so there was only one device that would work. With These they are standard POE, Does that mean I can use any POE Injector that is using this standard?
Also, are problems that first existed these access points being worked out or been fixed? I want these to be minimal attention required since I am the IT person here and I don't work in this building, I work in the other building which is walking distance but I do want to avoid problems if possible.
Can the WAP4410N accept a 48 VDC input from an IEEE 802.3af POE injector or is a splitter required on the AP end to drop the 48 VDC to 12 VDC and utilize the DC input connector on the back of the AP? I would prefer to use only the injector at the switch if the AP can accept the 48 VDC at the ethernet port.

%CDP_PD-2-POWER_LOW: All radios disabled - NEGOTIATED WS-C6509 <Switchport MAC Add>
The Module in the 6500 is a WS-X6348-RJ-45 The Option "Power Injector installed" on the WLC is also enabled, with the MAC Address from the Switchport, but no change. When i disable CDP on the mentioned Switch Port and reload the AP, it comes up and runs fine.
1552E Rap will "lock" up, and not allow MAPs to connect through it to join. the WLC. Rebooting the Rap will resolve the issue, but the problem comes back and some random point in the future. Prior to rebooting the Rap to fix the issue, the Rap shows as joined to the WLC, but I have noticed that the neighbor details look stale, meaning my MAPs don't show up as neighbors, but other MAPs in the area are in the neighbor list, listed by MAC address. At this time, I can not confirm whether or not the neighbor detials are changing (updating), but I can confirm that my MAPs never show up as neighbors. As soon as the RAP is rebooted, MAPs join the controller again.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI am designing a wireless mesh network for a client using several 1552 access points that will be bridged together. Only the RAP has a wired connection to their existing network. The client has informed me they want to hang switches off of the MAPs to connect existing wired devices. I found this in the install manual, "To forward bridge traffic, add a switch between the power injector and controller" but I will not be using power injectors (just AC power). Will adding a switch off of the AP's impact their wireless bridging abilities?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my working WRVS4400N v2 Router with an RV180W. Unfortunately I am now stymied, as I am unable to use WDS to connect my WAP4410N to the RV180W to fill a dead spot. I tried calling support (case # 623405011) but we were unable to get communications working correctly - even when the two devices were less than 5 feet apart. The engineer's final suggestion wwas to put the WAP4410N bact to factory default, connect it to a laptop, and compare settings side-by-side...thats 2 hours of my life I will never get back as it was a useless endeavor. The WAP4410N is on 2.0.5.3, and the RV180W is on 1.0.1.9 (Both are on the latest available firmware).
My question would be what Cisco device would be best matched with this RV180W so I can use WDS and fill in the hole. I have no problem, just as long as it works and stays stable, as I had with the WRVS4400N / WAP4410N setup. Optionally, is there some other setting the engineer missed? The RV180W is my gateway router and primary wireless access point, I just need to fill some spaces where there is interference.

Had Infinity installed yesterday which means we're up from our awful 3mb speeds to around 35ish. A partner in my household is using a laptop downstairs and it's getting the full speeds, no problems.
However, upon plugging in a wireless adapter upstairs in a PC, it's not getting the full speeds, not even close. A mixture between 1mb and on one occasion about 8mb. The speedtest is showing something like 400ms too. I stick a wire into the PC and it's fine, around 30 or so ms and hitting the full speeds available. The wireless adapter is a Phillips, never really had any problems with it before, not that I know of anyway.
Done a wifi mesh using 1552E and 1552i mix of AP's ? With the 1552E as RAP and 1552I's as MAP's ? Is it a recommended model of deployment and will it work well ? the 1552i having radiation pattern more towards the ground when mounted on top , will the mesh backhaul to the 1552E be strong enough ?
Will this work if i put the 1552e at a lower level than the 1552i so that the mesh is formed properly ?
I've looked through the documentation for loading the autonomous image on a 1552E WAP that has the lightweight image on it. All the documentation I can find mentions using the "archive" command at the command line. It doesn't appear to like the archive command.
I've seen in the documentation that it also mentions the software is loadable through the controller, but I can't figure out how to do that.
I currently have the 1552E connected to my 5508 controllers running 7.3 software. how to load this autonomous image on to the 1552E? I'm planning on using it to do site surveys with the 1552E.
