Cisco Wireless :: Loading Autonomous Image On 1552E
Jan 28, 2013
I've looked through the documentation for loading the autonomous image on a 1552E WAP that has the lightweight image on it. All the documentation I can find mentions using the "archive" command at the command line. It doesn't appear to like the archive command.
I've seen in the documentation that it also mentions the software is loadable through the controller, but I can't figure out how to do that.
I currently have the 1552E connected to my 5508 controllers running 7.3 software. how to load this autonomous image on to the 1552E? I'm planning on using it to do site surveys with the 1552E.
i just bought a 5508 wireless controller that was delivered yesterday .I powered it on yesterday and was able to make basic configurations of management interface ,time and zone settings.I was also able to get to the GUi and console after the configs and it was alright. When I got in this morning it ran for about 2 hours and all of a sudden starts shutting down after every % minutes and comes back again.
I have a new WLC 5500 series which i upgraded to a newer version. We got brand new AP's 1242 from Cisco. My ex-colleague had said that we can pre-image the AP's using the controller, so the new AP's get the image directly from the Controllers.
I have the following devices with me for this: A WLC 5500, 1242 AP ( 12 No.'s) and a 2960 switch. I tried to create dhcp pool in wlc so the ap get the ip and gets the image . However, i cant see the ap appearing in wireless tab. The WLC & AP will be connected to this same switch.
What configuration needs to be done on the WLC & the Switch so that the 1242 AP's when connected physically to the ports on the switch will get the image from the WLC.
I just turned on 2 Wirelless LAN Controllers 5508 and I am getting this message on both of them:
Loading primary image (Image not found)
** Unable to read "linux.pri.img" from ide 0:2 **
Loading backup image (Image not found)
** Unable to read "linux.bak.img" from ide 0:2 **
And it is taking me to the BootMenu. I selected option 4 to Clear Configuration and the controller seems to restart the system but I still get the same error. I checked the LEDs status and Sys is Amber and Alarm is OFF which according to the documentation is a System Crash.
1552E Rap will "lock" up, and not allow MAPs to connect through it to join. the WLC. Rebooting the Rap will resolve the issue, but the problem comes back and some random point in the future. Prior to rebooting the Rap to fix the issue, the Rap shows as joined to the WLC, but I have noticed that the neighbor details look stale, meaning my MAPs don't show up as neighbors, but other MAPs in the area are in the neighbor list, listed by MAC address. At this time, I can not confirm whether or not the neighbor detials are changing (updating), but I can confirm that my MAPs never show up as neighbors. As soon as the RAP is rebooted, MAPs join the controller again.
We purchased cisco AIR-CAP1552E-A-K9 and it has IOS c1520-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2. WLC with the lastest firmware 7.0.116.0 is not able to connect to the Cisco 1552E. 1552E log show that it can see the WLC but unable to connect. We have devices for both U.S and Australia domain. Why are the 1552E not able to connect to the WLC?
I am designing a wireless mesh network for a client using several 1552 access points that will be bridged together. Only the RAP has a wired connection to their existing network. The client has informed me they want to hang switches off of the MAPs to connect existing wired devices. I found this in the install manual, "To forward bridge traffic, add a switch between the power injector and controller" but I will not be using power injectors (just AC power). Will adding a switch off of the AP's impact their wireless bridging abilities?
I'm have upgraded our ASA5510's from 7.0.8 to 8.4.3 and now I just need to do the ASDM, but get this error? The bin file has been uploaded: [code] Device Manager image set, but not a valid image file disk0:/asdm-647.bin.
Done a wifi mesh using 1552E and 1552i mix of AP's ? With the 1552E as RAP and 1552I's as MAP's ? Is it a recommended model of deployment and will it work well ? the 1552i having radiation pattern more towards the ground when mounted on top , will the mesh backhaul to the 1552E be strong enough ?
Will this work if i put the 1552e at a lower level than the 1552i so that the mesh is formed properly ?
I just have a brand new Aironet 1552E , just took it out of the box and connect to the same subnet with a WLC 5508 v7.2 fully config and working However, it could not join the WLC 5508.
I connected to AP 1552E and my computer via PoE Gigabit Ethernet Port. Port is up and two of them are the same subnets.Even if my computer and ap arp table seen each other but i couldnot ping the each of them. [code]
Can I power the 1552e with the proper poe injector if I am not using the ethernet port for backhaul? I want to get power thru poe but use a fiber for backhaul.
In our mesh network. there are 8 root AP and 15 mesh AP . we are using 1552E ,i have few questions on it:
1. If the ap's acting as mesh ap are connected with only 2.4 ghz external antenna, will they have problem joining the root access point to form mesh. 2. How should we set the channel assignments. Do we only set them in root ap's. 3. should the channels be set under 802.11a ? 4.should the channel be manually set or should it be left to be chosen dynamically.
Is Cisco WCS mandatory when deploying an outdoor enterprise mesh solution? If I am goin to use the 1552E purely as an outdoor access point ,do I really need the Cisco WCS?
Is it possible to lower the power draw on the Aironet 1552e AP (AIR-CAP1552E-N-K9) so it will run on a standard PoE device (IEEE 802.3af). The spec sheet for the AP says you need to either use the Cisco PoE injector (AIR-PWRINJ1500-2=).Is there possibly a firmware upgrade/downgrade or some sort of command I can use?The APs being used are running LWAPP and require a controller.
recently I installed WLC 5508 en the central office and installed a network mesh in a remote office; central and remote office is connected with serial link as WAN, and I have dhcp server in the remote office for give ip address to all users and devices in the remote office. Additional I have 5 LAP1552 (mesh) and 2 LAP1260 in the remote office, all clients that connect to LAP1260(this don't belong to the mesh) receive ip address from dhcp server, but neither client that try to connect to the mesh (LAP1552) receive ip address from dhcp server. I don't have if I doing some thing bad. The range IP that receive the all ap's belong to the network of devices and the range ip for the users belong to network of users.
which controller I should use with 11 1552E AP ? I know 5508 will work with the AP's, but would the 2504 also work? If 2504 will work, I will go for the 2504 since its a cheaper solution.
I have a number of 1552e APs connected to a 5508 WLC. We are using local MAC filtering to enable the 1552's to connect to the WLC.
I have a several more 5508's in different locations, and can be used for back-up in the event the primary WLC fails.I have the primary WLC, a secondary WLC and a tertiary WLC loaded into each the 1552's HA tab.
My question concerns the secondary and tertiary WLCs... do I have to load all the MAC addresses in each of those as well in order for the 1552's to connect? If yes, is there an easy way to copy the local mac filtering from the primary WLC and load it into the other WLCs ?
I have a running Mesh Network with AP 1552E and Controller 5508. The end customer has a new requirement to have a indoor coverage near to AP1552E (mesh AP). But in this building he has not any wired Network (it is far from any switched site). The question is: We can use an AP1262 indoor with Line Of Sigth to AP1552E in the running Mesh Network? I know AP1262 can be used in a Mesh Netwok (Root or Mesh) configuring it as BRIDGE [URL]
What is the power rating of a 1552e mesh AP before the antennas are attached? I have the dual band 2.4 / 5 GHz antennas. I know their Db rating, but I have not been able to find what the AP is.
I have to build a MESH topology with 1 Root Access Point and 4 Mesh Access Points which are 1552E.I have a wireless controller which is a WiSM 2 card into a 6500 chassis.I want to know if there is a pre-configuration to do on the AP before installing it, or if they are automaticaly discovered by controller (even for MESH AP which are NOT wired to LAN) ?
We have a number of 1552e's deployed as RAP / MAPs, using a 5508 WLC. All those are working fine.I have a few requirements for an outdoor access point... not a RAP or MAP, but just a simple outdoor AP. I assume that if I use a 1552e for that requirement, I would place the mode in local, rather than in bridge mode, correct ? Also, a question on mac filtering. When setting up the mac filter, there is a drop down selection for "interface name". The radios seem to work fine with "none" selected, so I'm confused about what exactly that selection is doing. Is it simply a reference lable, or does it actually have a purpose?
i have a problem with 1552E to register with 5508 WLC, and always got "AAA authentication error” in the WLC log, while AAA is not enabled. so my question is , do i need to add the MAC address to the WLC MAC filter list even if i not enable the AAA server in the WLC.
which controller I should use with 11 1552E AP ? I know 5508 will work with the AP's, but would the 2504 also work? If 2504 will work, I will go for the 2504 since its a cheaper solution.
A 1552E has a temperature gauge sensor connected to its power over Ethernet port. the port status shows line protocol as down. The cable from 1552 to the sensor has been changed twice. We can see the 1552E gig1 interface is at 1000full duplex. Is there any chance the speed is causing the problem here. it seems the 1552E doesn't allow to set different speed & remains on 1000.
