View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two SSIDs on an Autonomous Access Point, that goes to a 2960 switch, that connects to a L3 3560. I have a vlan for admin/private internal access that uses the native vlan (1) and guest vlan (50). I have configured both and I am trying to get both to go out the same Internet connection.
I cannot get the guest access to access the Internet. It looks like my computer will go, but it just comes up saying no Internet access. All interfaces are trunking this vlan properly. I can communicate from the laptop to the 3560 but I just can't get to the Internet.
I have some 1242s and I can't get a straight answer on whether they can do both autonomous and lightweight or just lightweight.
Model number: AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9.
I'm assuming that the 'L' in the model numbers means it's just lightweight, but searching Cisco's site and the Internet in general it's just not clear.
I know it works as a lightweight AP, can I run it in autonomous mode?
I have just installed 3 access points along with 6 repeater access points all running V12.4. They are all AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9 using the 2.4GHz radio.
Prior to installation I bench tested that the repeaters would associate with the access points and if one of the access points was turned off the repeaters would automatically roam to another access point. I did not have all 9 devices powered up at the same time, but did have 2 repeaters and 2 access points powered up to simulate association and roaming.
During installation as access points and repeaters were powered up everything behaved as expected (repeaters were associating to access points etc.) however during installation once everything was installed the 3 access points were all powered down for half an hour or so and once powered back on the repeaters did not automatically re-associate until they were re-booted.
I have now configured the repaters with parent MAC addresses to reflect the above current assocaition pattern but not yet powered off the access points to test if this forces re-association as this is now a live operational site!!
Is it normal to have to re-boot the repeaters if ALL 3 access points are powered down at the same time? i.e. If only one access point is powered down will the repeaters automaically roam to another access point o.k.?
i need to change the IOS in a Ligthwiegth Access point and make it work as an Autonomus AP 1242. I have got the image but im not realy clear about the process. I got to enter the Ligthwiegth Access point true the console port but i dont know how is the upgrading process.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI encounter a strange problem on several AP 1242 in version 12.4(25d)JA1 of a customer : He has 10 autonomous AP covering The APs loose LAN connectivity randomly and therefore the clients don't work anymore. The AP are connected on a 2960 and a 3560 wich are in turn connected on a 3750 wich route the trafic. After checking spanning-tree no loops are present. When I check the counters on the AP involved I see the "trhottles" and "ignored" counters incrementing on the fa0 link of the AP impacted wich mean I think it can't handle the incoming traffic. This incoming traffic seems not to be too big however. I can see drops on the switch interface connecting the AP.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwe had a problem with a customer wlan in our warehouse (cannel overlapping). The troubleshoot needed a long time. For the future if requipred in case of problems i want to configure one access point in the warehouse as a scanner (please find picture in the attachement). The Autonomous cisco 1242 is now configured as scanner but i can't see any logfiles? Where can i find these informations. This is the cisco description of the scanner mode:Scanner—Functions as a network monitoring device. In the Scanner mode, the access point does not accept associations from clients. It continuously scans and reports wireless traffic it detects from other wireless devices on the wireless LAN. All access points can be configured as a scanner.

Hardware: Cisco 3750 switch and Cisco autonomous access point (AIR-AP1142N-E-K9).Requirement: A single broadcast SSID; use dot1x to assign vlan 98 to authenticated clients (computer certificate); assign vlan 3 (guest) if the authentication fails.I can achieve assigning a guest vlan on authentication failure when using a wired connection by using the following command on the interface:authentication event fail action authorize vlan 3 I'm after a way to achieve the above using the wireless access point. The main point is that internal users cannot access vlan 3 as they have a valid certificate and that guests do not have to authenticate.
View 2 Replies View Related I have a new WLC 5500 series which i upgraded to a newer version. We got brand new AP's 1242 from Cisco. My ex-colleague had said that we can pre-image the AP's using the controller, so the new AP's get the image directly from the Controllers.
I have the following devices with me for this: A WLC 5500, 1242 AP ( 12 No.'s) and a 2960 switch. I tried to create dhcp pool in wlc so the ap get the ip and gets the image . However, i cant see the ap appearing in wireless tab.
The WLC & AP will be connected to this same switch.
What configuration needs to be done on the WLC & the Switch so that the 1242 AP's when connected physically to the ports on the switch will get the image from the WLC.
we have a couple of AP1262N-E-K9 access point with firmware version 12.4(25d)JA1 operating in autonmous mode.
I attempted to measure the signal quality between the APs by setting one device to repeater mode while all others are in root mode. Then, I execute the following command: dot11 Dot11Radio 0 antenna-alignment
1. The output of "show dot11 antenna-alignment" is incorrect, the % value represents the signal strength in dBm without the - (minus). E.g. "-25 dBm" is displayed as "Signal 25% 0 dBm".Now, I know that is only a display error but still this is not clean. Is this a known issue?
2. Why are the measured signal strength values not displayed on the SSH console during the antenna-alignment test? Is it obligatory to use the console to see these values? Or is it also a known bug which might be fixed in later firmware versions?
I have AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 WLC i that current IOS is 7.0.98.218 and i upgraded with 7.0.116.0 IOS but after upgrading and reboot the WLC from 15 access point 3 access point are not coming up and 12 are coing up and working fine (4 1142 and 11 1131 series access point) 3 which are not coimg is 1131 series access point. when i login with console to 3 access point its rebooting 2 times and coming on ap: prompt.
In between that i reloaded the WLC one more time because from 15 acess point only 4 aceess point are came up and i also cleck the show boot on wlc its output is 7.0.116.0 (default) 7.0.98.218 (active) so i reload the wlc and checked out of 15 acess point now 12 acess point are up and still 3 are not. And i also checked the output of show boot command its 7.0.116.0 (default)(active) 7.0.98.218
So i things its because of when 2nd time i reload the wlc the remaining 3 access point are getting.
I've looked through the documentation for loading the autonomous image on a 1552E WAP that has the lightweight image on it. All the documentation I can find mentions using the "archive" command at the command line. It doesn't appear to like the archive command.
I've seen in the documentation that it also mentions the software is loadable through the controller, but I can't figure out how to do that.
I currently have the 1552E connected to my 5508 controllers running 7.3 software. how to load this autonomous image on to the 1552E? I'm planning on using it to do site surveys with the 1552E.
I have been looking at a PC which has a low download speed, 1180Kbps, when access the Internet via a 3COM wireless access point. This access point has the number 7000-000-732 but I cannot see such a model on the Net.. The nearest similar one seems to be the 3Com Wireless 7760 11a/b/g PoE Access Point.
