Cannot Connect Xbox 360 To Laptop Using Bridge Connection

Jan 25, 2013

I am having trouble with connecting my Xbox 360 to the internet through my laptop using a bridge connection. Everything works absolutely fine, after reading all of the posts in URL,I followed practically the same steps, using my network information instead. The xbox finds the network but the DNS servers cannot resolve the names of the Xbox live servers or Xbox.com.I was wondering if there was a step somewhere I had missed or needs to be changed. I've already gone through the motions of checking the router and everything.

3 Devices - Desktop / Laptop And Xbox - Cannot Connect To Internet

Sep 14, 2012

At home, my current setup is:

1. Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard Cable Modem for internet
2. Rosewill 8 Port Switch RC-406X

And I have:

1. Dell Q6600 desktop running on Windows 7
2. Dell Latitude laptop running on Windows XP
3. Xbox 360

These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.

Bridge Internet Connection Received From Laptop To Desktop With An Ethernet Cable

Apr 13, 2011

I am trying to bridge internet connection received from my laptop to my desktop with an ethernet cable. Both machines are running win 7.When I try to connect to my local area connection on the desktop most of the time it fails and I'm left with 'Unidentified network' and no internet connection. Sometimes, rarely it does connect properly but I get a notification about there being an IP conflict in the network, but things work as they should. When I diagnose the problem it tells me that "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

D-Link DIR-601 :: Connection Drops Out - Can't Connect To Xbox Live Wirelessly

Jul 21, 2011

So our last router (Linksys) quit on us the other day so we got this one.  We plug it in and it works most of the time, but the connection drops out periodically.  Also, for some reason, I am now unable to connect to Xbox Live using my laptop as a router (plugging the ethernet cable from my xbox to my laptop).  Also, when I plag it in, the internet stops working on my laptop and I have to restart it to get it to work again.

Proper Connection HP Laptop Can't Connect

Nov 23, 2012

The internet connection works perfectly, all other devices can connect properly to the internet. It simply says no internet access, in spite of being connected properly to the Wifi network. My hp laptop however drops the connection every 2 or 3 days and won't connect for hours, then will resume connection after a humptieth reboot. It's been going on since July. I have no idea why it drops the connection in the middle of activities or at boot, and no idea why it reconnects either.I tried a fixed IP, Winsock resets, programs that supposedly tweak the registry, renewing the ipconfig, something with ipv6, ipv4, and anything else I could find. Laptop Wireless Connection Won't Connect To Router?

Jul 9, 2012

I recently had Verizon high speed internet installed in my house. I connected a laptop to the router with an ethernet cable and everything works fine. I managed to connect with another laptop and another computer via wifi and they also work fine. I now want to disconnect the ethernet cable and allow the original laptop to be mobile around the house. When I first tried this everything worked fine. When I tried again (with the ethernet cable still connected) the wireless internet connection was recognized but would not allow me to connect. The message was something to the effect of "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." The network is certainly there and the router is right next to the laptop - fully in range. The same thing happens when I disconnect he ethernet cable. A few times the router didn't even show up in the list of wireless interner connections. I might have changed some setting someplace but I don't know which one.

Using Laptop As A Wireless Bridge

Sep 2, 2012

I have a laptop with a wireless adapter. I have a desktop without a wireless adapter. Both of these pc's have windows 7. I have the laptop and desktop connected by an ethernet cord, and the laptop has a wireless connection to the router. In Network Connections under the control panel, I used the Bridge Connections option to bridge the pc's together. At my friend's place, this is usually the end of this process as my desktop will have internet access and run fine. At my own place, however, the desktop will not have any internet until I set a static IP for it. Also at my place, games on the desktop tend to run with a lot of lag due to the internet.

- My friend has a cheap $30 ASUS router, i don't know the exact model of it atm

- My place uses a motorola sbg 6580 modem/router

XBox Keeps Loosing Connection

My nephew's XBox (he's an on line gamer, and quite a serious one for that matter...) seems to boot him off line when someone uses the phone or goes on line on another computer. The house is quite far from the exchange so the average down speed is only 1.75-2 Mbps. This connection is through a BT Infinity R/S/F and I wanted to know if we could just add another R/S/F device and subnet the games console into it's own DMZ with full bandwidth access and then the normal broadband & phone on a different subnet also with full bandwidth access?

XBox 360 - Router Can't Pick Up Any Internet Connection

Oct 9, 2011

Iv been having a wierd time with my computer connecting to the internet lately. What we have is a setup of 2 routers:

1st - has my mums computer plugged into it and an xbox 360, and gets access to the internet through a modem.

2nd - is plugged into the first router, and it has my computer and my brothers connected.

Lately the 2nd router can't seem to pick up any internet connection and I'm not sure why. Usually the only way to fix this problem has usually been to reboot the modem and the 1st router, but since my mum often uses her computer its kind of awkward for me to keep rebooting it when she's using the internet just fine. As far as I'm aware the settings on both routers are still at their default values when we originally got them, so why I'm being disconnected 50% of the time is a bit of a nuisance.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Lose Connection Between Xbox And Media Center

Oct 26, 2011

I have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off.  I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network.  I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band. The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.

I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't.  The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.

Connect To XBOX Live Using PC?

May 2, 2012

I just bought a new television so thought I would finally be able to get to play xbox live in a television away from the router! But of course like always there is is problems....

I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.

However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!

I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.

My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.
