Xbox Will Connect To Internet But Does Not See Wireless Laptop
Jul 28, 2011
My xbox is connected by wired, my loptop is wireless, xbox will connect to the internet, but my computer does not see it in the network, media center does see it, but the xbox does not see the laptop?
1. Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard Cable Modem for internet 2. Rosewill 8 Port Switch RC-406X
And I have:
1. Dell Q6600 desktop running on Windows 7 2. Dell Latitude laptop running on Windows XP 3. Xbox 360
These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
I have dial up internet and I use that internet to get on xbox live yes I know it sucks but its all that is available in my area.I have connected my laptop to my xbox via an Ethernet cord CAT-6 I believe,I used to be able to get on xbox live this way then one day I tried to get on and and it would not connect to my PC it said It could not fine my IP I went on [URL] and did the troubleshooting thing and nothing worked?
I am having trouble with connecting my Xbox 360 to the internet through my laptop using a bridge connection. Everything works absolutely fine, after reading all of the posts in URL,I followed practically the same steps, using my network information instead. The xbox finds the network but the DNS servers cannot resolve the names of the Xbox live servers or Xbox.com.I was wondering if there was a step somewhere I had missed or needs to be changed. I've already gone through the motions of checking the router and everything.
I'm having trouble connecting my 360 to the wireless router to gain Internet access.I use my phone's Wi-Fi to gain internet access with NO issues. My current setup: NetGear Wireless router is connected to my D-Link wired router, and I can access the internet no problem. (10 MBPS down, 5MBPS up)When I try to connect the 360 to the Netgear Wireless router, it connects to the Network, but Internet test it reads "DNS error - The router or modem may mot be automatically providing DNS settings. Try a manual DNS setting instead."(Next suggestion) "DNS Error - If you have a PC that can successfully browse the web, check it's network properties to find the DNS address it uses..."Now, I have XBMC running on my computer, and the 360 can access the network so it shows up under Video Apps so I can see a file list to stream movies. When I try to run a movie, it says I must download an update - so I can't watch the movies at all.I juso set it up so I can access the Network AND Internet.Again, Netgear wireless router (which 360 connects to) connected to D-Link wired router.
I just need a a way to connect my xbox 360 to the internet. I considered buying a WET610N and was wondering if it will connect to my E2000? I can't use one of microsoft adaptors because something is wrong with my usb ports. Or if it is possible am I able to connect a WET54G? I'm not looking to play online just get connected wirelessly. Will either one of these bridges connect to the E2000?
My xbox cannot connect to the internet. I'm hardwiring it. It can achieve an IP Adress and a Subnet Mask but... it's Gateway, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS remains at 0.0.0.0
How can I fix this so that I can connect to Xbox Live?
I recently got a new modem. The network I'm on is Cox, and everything is running fine except for one thing: My Xbox 360. I've had no internet problems connecting my iPhone, my laptop, or my mom's Kindle Fire, but it simply won't connect with my Xbox 360.
I was a beta tester for MS Flight, I can sign-in on Games for windows live manually from my computer, but when I load up flight it says Connect to Live. When I press connect it says my game has been altered try re-installing Flight. I dont want to do this because if I get an error re-installing I wont be able to use flight. This problem happened when the beta testing finishe, has microsoft pulled the plug until the release date 29th?
i have Xbox 360. from my PC i can i access internet, but My xbox is not working.i checked the ip address and DNS every thing is fine, but i couldn't access internet.
In our country we only used broadbands to connect to the internet, for short we don't have any wireless networking here. I just bought a new Xbox360 and I tried to connect the broadband on it. After connecting I tried to join Xbox Live and it said error. The console redirected me to a part which says test your connection, so I selected it. After selecting it I noticed that there are 4 parts. First the Xbox, second network, third internet, and lastly Xbox Live. I selected Test Connection and after doing so, it started to load. The first thing the console did is to test if the network is connected and after a few seconds the loading is done and it transfers to the other part which is the console will try to connect to the internet, in this part a huge x symbol appeared on the internet sign and it says that it is unable to connect to the internet and so I tried it again and same thing happened.
I've recently purchased a new modem and router made by net gear I've been able to connect to the internet via laptop, cell phone, etc. but my real problem is that my Xbox will not connect through the net work test when I physically do it myself but if my Xbox is off and I reset the modem /router and then turn on the Xbox it connects me but doesn't allow me to play any games or talk to friends, so back to my first problem I test the internet using the Xbox, it connects to the network but not to internet and trows an error reset modem/router 30sec. ICMP error or MTU error I've browsed online for solutions but none are successful I've changed router settings bought an Ethernet cord bought a second more powerful router from net gear nothing is working, any ideas?
I got the newer version of the XBOX 360 Elite with built in wi-fi and I connect it to the internet and it worked great. eventually something went wrong with the built in wi-fi so i hooked up and Ethernet cable and it worked fine, then that stopped working. it doesn't connect to the network even. I don't want to send it into Microsoft and find out its broke and that I have to buy a new one.
I am tethering 4g on my Gs3. i am using the wifi tether app rooted. i can connect to my pc and speedtest gives me 25mbps down and about 13 up. but when i connect to my xbox my connection is extremely slow and i only have 3 bars. dont understand whats wrong. and also when i download files it can never go above 1mb. and its not the files because i have downloaded many and its the same story. my brother has the same connection with a nexus and gets 3mb on his files. why my tether is so slow and anything i can do to fix it.
I am in a College dorm and the only access to internet we have is by connecting an Ethernet cable to the connection in the wall and straight to the computer. That is how I have internet as we speak and it works fine. Problem is, that when I plug it in into the xbox it doesnt even connect to the network?
I am going to use my ethernet cable to connect my pc to my xbox to use the PC as a bridge for the connection. My one question is, when I go to the adapter settings and go to the sharing tab on the properties of my wireless, what does the check box named 'Allow other users to connect through this computer's internet connection' do?
My son connects his xbox360 to his laptop that uses a wireless access to the router. My husband and i both have a laptop and when we try to log on to the internet it takes forever or doesn't connect at all while son is on his xbox 360. Do I need to change up my router?
I was connected to the school's internet, and it randomly disconnected, and won't connect to either campus' wireless anymore. I restarted, tried to repair it, and it still says it can't renew the ip address. Is it my network adapter?
I have a netgear router and an win xp desktop connected to each other through the ISP modem. The internet works great. Xbox live connected via through the netgear router(access point), works great. Now i just recently bought a power cord for an old laptop, charged it, working fine. Its a Compaq laptop, with a vista OS. My problem is not finding the router and/or connecting to it. I just cant seem to access the internet. It shows local connection only with an unidentified network, but it shows my routers name(LOTUS). There is alittle red X in-between the unidentified network and the internet. I pulled off the ip config/all on the vista laptop.

if I have my HP netbook connected to a wired or wireless connection I'm stuck on the "Acquiring network" prompt. I've followed along in previous threads up until a certain point. In the services page DHCP cannot start due to error 1075.
Toshiba laptop has been connecting fine to internet but now its not, i have wired it up to router and all im getting is local access my other laptop is working fine.
I just reinstalled XP on my Dell inspiron 1100. Everything works good expect I can't connect wireless to the internet. I use my Ethernet cable and everything works great. The wireless setting say's I'm connected with excellent strength, also I have an IP address. I went to disk management and check for conflicts and noticed the PCI modem was yellow. I was told to disable it because I don't use a modem so it should not be a problem.
I never had any problems getting on the internet before, now I can't connect. It says my signal is excellent, and that its acquiring network address. I have tried repairing the connection, but it doesn't do anything. I also get a box at startup that says:
Error loading C:documents and settingsall users application dataWindowsserviceManager.dll. The specified module could not be found.
I started off with my dl speed around 2 years ago at about 210kbs. Not the best but because i live in a rural area i was happy enough. But now my connection has dropped massivly to 40kbs being the peak. The internet was faster in the stone ages -_-. Anyway, i want to figure out if its the wires in the area being faulty or as someone told me it might be my wireless router (Netgear). I'm trying to plug my laptop directly into the internet without the use of wireless to find out if it is the router being the problem. The only cable i could find an ethernet to ethernet cable. I've tried plugging into router and a bit that said modem and tried to set up a connection. It didnt work so connect my laptop to the internet without the wireless router.
my laptop, as well as my moms laptop, were working perfectly fine on wedensday. Yesterday however, i was randomly getting kicked off the internet, and i came to realize that whenever both of our laptops were on, only one could connect to the internet. the other one couldn't find the DNS server or whatever.so, after some frustration windows finally told me (on my laptop) that two computers were sharing the same ip address on my network. made sense i guess. so i went to CMD, typed ipconfig /release on my laptop, but it said media was disconnected so it didn't work. i then went onto my moms laptop, typed the same thing in CMD, and it released it fine. but then her battery died so i plugged it in to renew her ip.
once her computer got enough of a charge to turn on i went to cmd and typed ipconfig /renew, but it wouldn't renew it, saying media was disconnected. so, now her laptop and my laptop will not connect to wireless.on my laptop, i transfered my documents to another HDD and did a fresh install of windows. but even since, my laptop will not connect to the internet. when i trouble shoot it it says something about no networking drivers are installed, but i can't even install drivers because i have no internet im on her laptop right now, it will connect via ethernet cable.
I have a toshiba windows 7 laptop that will not connect to the internet. I have a linksys E 1500 wireless router that has been working fine till today. It says I have great connection but won't open any webpages. I tried hooking it manually to an ethernet cable and it still will not connect.
We are using a laptop with a sierra wireless aircard 4G and an ethernet cable to the xbox 360 to try to get the xbox to connect to the internet. This has worked before, but since I put the laptop back to manufacturer reset it is not working.
