Laptop Can't Connect To Internet Neither Wired Or Wireless
Jun 3, 2011
my laptop, as well as my moms laptop, were working perfectly fine on wedensday. Yesterday however, i was randomly getting kicked off the internet, and i came to realize that whenever both of our laptops were on, only one could connect to the internet. the other one couldn't find the DNS server or whatever.so, after some frustration windows finally told me (on my laptop) that two computers were sharing the same ip address on my network. made sense i guess. so i went to CMD, typed ipconfig /release on my laptop, but it said media was disconnected so it didn't work. i then went onto my moms laptop, typed the same thing in CMD, and it released it fine. but then her battery died so i plugged it in to renew her ip.
once her computer got enough of a charge to turn on i went to cmd and typed ipconfig /renew, but it wouldn't renew it, saying media was disconnected. so, now her laptop and my laptop will not connect to wireless.on my laptop, i transfered my documents to another HDD and did a fresh install of windows. but even since, my laptop will not connect to the internet. when i trouble shoot it it says something about no networking drivers are installed, but i can't even install drivers because i have no internet im on her laptop right now, it will connect via ethernet cable.
if I have my HP netbook connected to a wired or wireless connection I'm stuck on the "Acquiring network" prompt. I've followed along in previous threads up until a certain point. In the services page DHCP cannot start due to error 1075.
Recently I installed connectify because my uni flat only had one wired outlet, and I wanted to use my xbox at the same time. It worked perfectly, but when I returned home I found my laptop could no longer connect to the home network, it just says it cannot connect, but all the over devices in the house work. My laptop can still connect to the internet via an ethernet cable but this isnt practical at home. I've uninstalled the connectify program, and tried my best to make sure I got rid of all the stuff it's done, but still my problem persists
Last night I was just online in my dorm using wired internet like I always do and it suddenly just stopped working. It hasn't been working since and it won't connect to anything. However my wifi internet works just fine but I'd like to use wired again for faster speed. I run windows 7 on an Acer laptop.

Recently I bought TD-W8151N wireless adsl router, I have one desktop computer that connected to TD-W8151N via ethernet and wirelessly to one laptop, IP Addr: 192.168.1.4, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : desktop (LAN connection IP Addr: 192.168.1.3, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : laptop (wireless connection) but I can't ping each other and also can't access the share folders between them., both computers can access internet. Is there anything I missed the configuration setting of the router? Before I use wireless, I connected this 2 computers using cross-type utp cable, and working good.
I want to connect 1 laptop and 2 pc,s to a switch via wired ports. Laptop has WiFi Internet. I DO NOT want internet going to the PC's. Question is will this set-up work for me. all 3 are windows 7
My wired connection on my laptop is not working, while my wireless connection still is. The connections work with different laptops. I've check my device manager and my drivers are up to date.
i have 2 laptops (1. Dell 2. IBM) and both of them worked wirelessly with BT until last month when I switched to talktalk. Dell s laptop now works wirelessly but the IBM isnt working either wired/wiressly. When I connect the IBM laptop to the modem through the cable my Dell laptop stops working too, looses the wireless configuration too and in order to make it work again I have to plug it back to the modem andafterwards going wirelessly. I spoke to talktalk support and they confirmed that the line works fine therefore there is a problem with the IBM laptop which also causes problems to the DellLaptop.I domt know from where to start to get the laptops working again fine at the same time.
A week ago, my desktop (with Windows 7) stopped connecting to the internet over it's wireless connection. It would connect to the router and obtain an IP address, but couldn't connect to the internet. All other devices in my home can connect just fine. Through the course of trouble shooting I found out that I can't connect to the internet with my desktop using a wired connection either. Also, I'm using ATT, so the modem and router are 1 unit.
Here's what I have tried:
Reinstalling the drivers.Resetting the wireless router to factory settings.Changing the security settings on the router.Running netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log ;netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log; netsh winsock reset catalog and restarting TCP/IP v4 and v6 are set to get automatically Made sure MAC address wasn't being blocked on router. I tried disabling ipv6 I can ping myself (@ 127.0.0.1) and no packets are lost. I tried pinging my ip address from the router, and nothing got through. This was true using wired or wireless. I tried connecting to the routers configuration page (using its IP address) and I couldn't. Did a virus scan and nothing turned up.
I've recently moved house and have signed up with a new internet provider. I can't connect to the internet with a wired or wireless connection. My partner has got the wireless working perfectly on her laptop and I got wifi working on my phone with no problems, so I think it must be something specific with my computer.
I used a wireless connection in my old house, and I remember it took some time to get that working properly too, so obviously my computer doesn't like change!I'm now getting the IPv4/IPv6 connectivity messages and can't even get close to finding a network.
I've got a PC(windows 7) connected to a wired router(not wifi), and I also have a laptop that shares the internet with the PC using wifi. A wired printer is connected to the PC. Is it possible for me to share files and print using laptop? (Wifi Connected to a Wired Internet connection)
Wired Internet works on laptop but not on desktop 1) Cable modem --> Switch --> Wireless Router --> ATA Adapter for the VOIP Phone --> Desktop Worked until i had a minor power outage. After which everything stopped ie No internet. So i tried scenario 2.
2) Cable modem --> Wireless Router --> Switch --> ATA Adapter for the VOIP Phone --> Desktop Got internet working (wired and wireless) for few days and then it stopped suddenly again. I tried both the above scenariosn again, but didnt work.
3) Now I connected my laptop (which i connected via wireless only before) with wire from cable modem straight to Laptop. Interent works
4) When I connect the same wire used successfully on laptop to my desktop, internet doesnt work. Both Laptop and desktop have windows 7?
I've been trying for two weeks now to connect to the internet but can't. This suddenly happened on a Monday after I got home from work. Up until that point, I have had no problems. At first I thought it was my cable, but when I plug the cable into my brother's PC, it works. Then thinking it could be my network card, he picked up a wireless card for me, but still no go. I've searched these forums and many forums over the internet and tried many things but I still have no luck. I've scanned for viruses and malware but nothing has turned up.
I have Norton anti virus but installed Adaware per recommendation to double check. I also used Malware Bytes. On Xirrus, I clicked the ping test and everything showed as pass but still, low connectivity. I get that even when I plug in the cable. When I look at my connection status under activity, the bytes sent and received are in the low thousands.I have only a very basic understanding of networks. [code]....
I'm having trouble connecting my 360 to the wireless router to gain Internet access.I use my phone's Wi-Fi to gain internet access with NO issues. My current setup: NetGear Wireless router is connected to my D-Link wired router, and I can access the internet no problem. (10 MBPS down, 5MBPS up)When I try to connect the 360 to the Netgear Wireless router, it connects to the Network, but Internet test it reads "DNS error - The router or modem may mot be automatically providing DNS settings. Try a manual DNS setting instead."(Next suggestion) "DNS Error - If you have a PC that can successfully browse the web, check it's network properties to find the DNS address it uses..."Now, I have XBMC running on my computer, and the 360 can access the network so it shows up under Video Apps so I can see a file list to stream movies. When I try to run a movie, it says I must download an update - so I can't watch the movies at all.I juso set it up so I can access the Network AND Internet.Again, Netgear wireless router (which 360 connects to) connected to D-Link wired router.

Just got my new TL-WDR4300 router. Set it up last night with the latest firmware. I can connect to Internet using a wired cable. However, I can't connect to Internet via wifi. I already tried 2 laptops (Vista & Win XP) and 2 tablets - I can see my wifi signal, connect to it (with my password), even obtained IP address (from ipconfig). However, when I tried to open a web page (eg google), it can't connect to Internet (always got timeout or service not found). Again, same laptop has no problem if I use a cable to connect to my router.
I was connected to the school's internet, and it randomly disconnected, and won't connect to either campus' wireless anymore. I restarted, tried to repair it, and it still says it can't renew the ip address. Is it my network adapter?
I have a netgear router and an win xp desktop connected to each other through the ISP modem. The internet works great. Xbox live connected via through the netgear router(access point), works great. Now i just recently bought a power cord for an old laptop, charged it, working fine. Its a Compaq laptop, with a vista OS. My problem is not finding the router and/or connecting to it. I just cant seem to access the internet. It shows local connection only with an unidentified network, but it shows my routers name(LOTUS). There is alittle red X in-between the unidentified network and the internet. I pulled off the ip config/all on the vista laptop.

It froze up, and has not been able to connect since.

Toshiba laptop has been connecting fine to internet but now its not, i have wired it up to router and all im getting is local access my other laptop is working fine.
I just reinstalled XP on my Dell inspiron 1100. Everything works good expect I can't connect wireless to the internet. I use my Ethernet cable and everything works great. The wireless setting say's I'm connected with excellent strength, also I have an IP address. I went to disk management and check for conflicts and noticed the PCI modem was yellow. I was told to disable it because I don't use a modem so it should not be a problem.
I never had any problems getting on the internet before, now I can't connect. It says my signal is excellent, and that its acquiring network address. I have tried repairing the connection, but it doesn't do anything. I also get a box at startup that says:
Error loading C:documents and settingsall users application dataWindowsserviceManager.dll. The specified module could not be found.
I started off with my dl speed around 2 years ago at about 210kbs. Not the best but because i live in a rural area i was happy enough. But now my connection has dropped massivly to 40kbs being the peak. The internet was faster in the stone ages -_-. Anyway, i want to figure out if its the wires in the area being faulty or as someone told me it might be my wireless router (Netgear). I'm trying to plug my laptop directly into the internet without the use of wireless to find out if it is the router being the problem. The only cable i could find an ethernet to ethernet cable. I've tried plugging into router and a bit that said modem and tried to set up a connection. It didnt work so connect my laptop to the internet without the wireless router.
I have a toshiba windows 7 laptop that will not connect to the internet. I have a linksys E 1500 wireless router that has been working fine till today. It says I have great connection but won't open any webpages. I tried hooking it manually to an ethernet cable and it still will not connect.
My xbox is connected by wired, my loptop is wireless, xbox will connect to the internet, but my computer does not see it in the network, media center does see it, but the xbox does not see the laptop?
My laptop is having trouble connecting to the internet. Some of the time it is fine, but at other times it will not connect to my home wireless network (or any other open ones I can find) despite the network being in full signal. The only advice offered by the troubleshooter is to reset the wireless router. This does work (but is very irritating to flatmates!) but doesn't prevent the problem recurring. Only my computer has an issue, and sometimes it will manage to connect to the internet by itself, seemingly spontaneously. The laptop is set to connect automatically, and when not working it also does sometimes attempt to connect, (i.e. it says 'connecting') but cuts out again before managing it. The problem can last for a few minutes or several hours.
The Dell Laptop was working on wireless, now wont connect to internet, not even if hardwired to modem desktop, the wireless signal under laptop status reads 100%
My laptop, Dell inspiron m5030, for some reason has stopped connecting to my wireless Internet, yet my iPad can. I have tried dissconnecting from the Internet and connecting again but it just keeps saying it can't, Even the troubleshooting diagnoses doesn't work and I have already tried disconnecting the wireless Ethernet from the outlet and restarted it but,it doesn't work. to get my laptop to start connecting to the Internet fully today!
i have Toshiba laptop ,i just buy wireless netgear router for wireless net range but it does not work .its saw me the router acess point but some how my internet not connecting . its connecting with linsys but not with my router. its something which i can do ? am thinking of security system on the netgear properties.
My roommate has a HP pavilion that she has been trying to connect to our internet, and while it seems to be connecting to the network, it wont connect to the internet. Its running Vista, and I tried all the repairs that it prompted me to try, but could not resolve the issue.I know it isn't a internet problem, because the desktop is hardwired and we have two xbox's that connect wireless with no problems.Im not sure what info I should have included in this thread, but its my first post and wasn't sure what I needed to put.
I have a cable modem with an E3000 router, wired to my desktop. Internet connection is fine for my desktop, wired to Xbox, wifi for Iphone, Ipod, but no connectivity to my laptop wirelessly. I have run the repair automatically on my laptop (Windows 7) and get 2 different messages when trying over and over to use this tool. 1. Network Configuration Problem 2. Problem with wireless adapter or access point. I get a "fail" when trying this:
1. If your client device has a Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ button, click or press that button and then click the button on the right. or when putting in the router's pin number.
even after entering all the details manually after referring to the above details the connection settings stopped at the DNS SERVER. i got this error :Failed to connect the network. Cannot connect with a name server. Home netowrk is available. Check the DNS server address and contact the Internet service operator.
