My wired connection on my laptop is not working, while my wireless connection still is. The connections work with different laptops. I've check my device manager and my drivers are up to date.

However, it cannot connect to the internet when using the wired connection but it can be pinged from other machines at work. The NIC does not pick up a different IP address even after releasing and renewing the IP address through cmd. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the NIC. The NIC is working because when I set a static IP address the machine can connect to the net. Using DHCP it goes back to that same IP address. I have tried a winsock repair as well with no go, as well as taking the machine off the domain and re-joining it. Anyone see this before? Is there something I can do on my end to get a different IP address through DHCP or do I have to get a Network engineer involved? This is a machine on a corporate LAN.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems using wired internet with a brand-new Toshiba Satellite L870-13L. The ethernet cable works fine when used with the other Mac computer in the house, but I've been unable to get any kind of internet connection on the laptop. The laptop recognises the cable when it is plugged in but when I check the status of the connection there doesn't seem to be an IP assigned to the computer.The Ethernet adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller; I've tried installing the latest drivers but without any success. The adapter shows up in device manager without any alerts or exclamation marks, and I've tried disabling the wireless adapter to see if that work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys RPT300 (firmware 3.1.27) which I need to pass magic packets on port 9 to internal computer. on LAN the WOL works perfectly.I have masked my local lan to 255.255.255.128 to be able to broadcast on another subnet address than x.x.x.255 which the web interface dont seem to allow.Local LAN is 192.168.15.x and I have created a port forward on port 9 UDP to local broadcast address wich would then be 192.168.15.127. However nothing comes through and I cant seem to find a setting to enable/disable internet broadcasts. Is there a work around?

my laptop, as well as my moms laptop, were working perfectly fine on wedensday. Yesterday however, i was randomly getting kicked off the internet, and i came to realize that whenever both of our laptops were on, only one could connect to the internet. the other one couldn't find the DNS server or whatever.so, after some frustration windows finally told me (on my laptop) that two computers were sharing the same ip address on my network. made sense i guess. so i went to CMD, typed ipconfig /release on my laptop, but it said media was disconnected so it didn't work. i then went onto my moms laptop, typed the same thing in CMD, and it released it fine. but then her battery died so i plugged it in to renew her ip.
once her computer got enough of a charge to turn on i went to cmd and typed ipconfig /renew, but it wouldn't renew it, saying media was disconnected. so, now her laptop and my laptop will not connect to wireless.on my laptop, i transfered my documents to another HDD and did a fresh install of windows. but even since, my laptop will not connect to the internet. when i trouble shoot it it says something about no networking drivers are installed, but i can't even install drivers because i have no internet im on her laptop right now, it will connect via ethernet cable.
Wired Internet works on laptop but not on desktop 1) Cable modem --> Switch --> Wireless Router --> ATA Adapter for the VOIP Phone --> Desktop Worked until i had a minor power outage. After which everything stopped ie No internet. So i tried scenario 2.
2) Cable modem --> Wireless Router --> Switch --> ATA Adapter for the VOIP Phone --> Desktop Got internet working (wired and wireless) for few days and then it stopped suddenly again. I tried both the above scenariosn again, but didnt work.
3) Now I connected my laptop (which i connected via wireless only before) with wire from cable modem straight to Laptop. Interent works
4) When I connect the same wire used successfully on laptop to my desktop, internet doesnt work. Both Laptop and desktop have windows 7?
Last night I was just online in my dorm using wired internet like I always do and it suddenly just stopped working. It hasn't been working since and it won't connect to anything. However my wifi internet works just fine but I'd like to use wired again for faster speed. I run windows 7 on an Acer laptop.

The internet works fine on both desktop since they're plugged via Ethernet, but my wireless connection is giving me a hard time on my laptop. I know the wireless works cause I have 2 iphones and they're connected via wifi and works fine. It's just this laptop that is having problems. when I click on connect to wireless, it does but it doesn't show the proper "connected" icon (when it's connected it shows two monitors and a small world, now it's just the two monitors without the world)

It has stopped connecting to the internet although it will connect to my wireless network. The internet works and all other devices (my tablet, my phone, daughter's laptop, etc) all connect. I boot up my computer. I close it over. come back later. open it. Computer will connect but with the small yellow triangle. Thing is though, it's only my computer that ever has issues with my internet connection. My sisters laptop has never had an issue with out internet. Yet my laptop is able to connect to the neighbors internet fine. The solution to my problem almost all of the time is to simply reboot my computer, which solves the problem(most of the time). But i'm getting so sick of having to do it. The other times when a reboot doesn't work I have to manually reset the internet. As i'm typing this I'm on my neighbors internet. my sister is connected fine to our internet but my laptop simply won't work with it so i'll have to reset it when i'm finished this Some useful information might be that this problem only started happening ever since my computer got wiped.I've tried updating the drivers but apparently they're up to date.

It happened gradually, at first having connection problems off and on for a few hours, and eventually it would no longer connect at all. I tried using an ethernet cable to the modem and that didn't work. I also know it's not my modem because I have other computers in my house and they are connecting just fine.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy laptop when I'm on any web browser (Chrome, IE, Firefox, etc.) it will say I'm not connected to the internet and stay that way for a minute. Any downloads and stuff I have going still download though and it shos that I am still connected to the internet with excellent strength. This happens with both wireless and Ethernet connection. The only way I can fix it is by disconnecting form the internet and connecting again, even that though only works for like 20 seconds and then it says I'm disconnected again and I have to disconnect and reconnect again.
I don't think its internet connection point either because all my friends and school laptops and desktops have no problems connecting and don't disconnect.

I have a Dell Latitude D420 laptop that has wireless connection, but when I attempt to go online I am redirected to a webpage that says internet explorer cannot display page.
I have attempted to reestablish the connection through various methods but none have worked. Under netwrok connections LAN connection is down, but wireless connection is running.
I purchased an e4200 about 6 months ago and it worked great until the other night the Internet stopped working on my laptop (wireless). I tried unplugging both my modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router and plugging them back in, but no luck. I can accesss the Internet when plugged directly into the router (with both my PC and laptop), so it looks like the issue is with the e4200. To make matters worse (and I fear much worse), I can't even access the admin page to the router through either the Cisco Connect software or through the IP address. I've tried resetting it, I've tried the 30/30/30 reset (holding the reset button while doing an unplug and pluging back in), and reinstalling the Cisco Connect software, all to no avail.
I've found threads where others have not been able to access the admin page, but they still had access to the Internet url... I haven't found a similar thread where the router doesn't seem to work at all. A few other bits of information I can think of (let me know if there's other information I can provide):The Cisco logo light flashes slowly after reset which I believe is expected.The lights in back of the router seem to work as intended.Running Windows 7 Diagnostics finds the connection "doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and "The default gateway is not available."

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
Today, while surfing the web my internet connection on my PC just randomly shuts off. I go check on my laptop and its normal. My WiFi says that I am connected to an Unidentified network with no internet access. So i got frustrated and checked all the forums and nothing seemed to work. So i restored my computer to factory settings and I still got this problem. Does this mean my Wifi Card is bad? Is it a virus? I can see other networks fine but i just cant connect to mine!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dlink dir-600 router I flashed it with dd-wrt it was was working good but I started experiencing some problems so I decided to flash it with the stock firmware and I did so later on after a week the Ethernet ports on the router stopped working I thought the router was bricked but I was able to connect wirelessly and could access the Internet and I was even able to change the settings of the router by going to 192.168.0.1 all was fine but all the ethernet ports stopped working so I thought it was the problem of the stock frimware and I again flashed it with dd-wrt but still all the Ethernet ports won't work I can only connect the computers wirelessly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Century Link DSL connection in my house and its working fine. I just got a new Linksys BEFSR41 v.3. I am trying to set it up for my PC, Xbox360 and BD player. Everything works fine when I plug them in to the DSL modem 1 by 1 but when I try to put the Linksys "in the middle"... nothing... So I'm pretty sure its not my DSL modem or connection.All the lights come up on the Linksys as they should (power, internet and the Ethernet) but for some reason it seems the internet not getting trought the router. When its connected and I pull up my internet browser I type 192.168.1.1 and it takes me to the linksys config site. Without the router in the same address go to the Westell site as thats my DSL modem. Everything looks fine on the config site. All the correct IP, MAC, DNS address are there and still no internet access on any of my device.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAt home i have a desktop Pc connected to the internet via ethernet, to a bt homehub, on the same homehub i also have a laptop connected to it but using the wireless connection. Both pcs are using windows 7.
I`m trying to file share between these 2 computers using a homegroup, but neither recognises another homegroup on their network. Is this because i`m not using the same connection method ( wirelss and wired) ? Even though both connections are going through the same Hub? I`ve tried renaming the homegroups on both pcs to the same name to see if that works, but it seems both pcs are on different networks. clear lack of pc intelligence, networking not really my thing.
