Linksys Router Hard Wired To 2 PCs One Working Other Not?
Jan 11, 2011
we have two desktop Pc's both hard wired to a Linksys router. One P.C is on Windows 7 system the other is on Vista. The windows 7 is connecting O.K. The one on Vista is showing " Does not have a wireless network adaptor, install & configure. The Vista P.C. was working O.K. a couple of days ago. Also not connecting to a laptop from the host computer on the Vista system?
I just now installed a new EA4500 Router. It installed itself automatically without a problem, by running the setup CD. No devices other than my hard wired computer and modem are connected yet.
When I went into Start > Cisco Connect to look around and check it's version, etc., I immediately got a "There's an important update for your router" notice. My concern is not wanting to install The Cloud at this time (although I wouldn't rule it out later). There has not been a trace of it so far.
I currently have Firmware Version: 2.0.36.126507 and Software Version: 1.4.12100.0. What this Important Update may be? Is it the "dreaded" Cloud? I'd rather avoid the whole rolling back to pre-Cloud issue for now, if possible.
Is there any way to use the e2500 without having hard wired internet access. I would like to use with my wii fii hot spot so that I could use my old printers that are not wireless enbled
I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the router, E4200, about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update.
I have a Century Link DSL connection in my house and its working fine. I just got a new Linksys BEFSR41 v.3. I am trying to set it up for my PC, Xbox360 and BD player. Everything works fine when I plug them in to the DSL modem 1 by 1 but when I try to put the Linksys "in the middle"... nothing... So I'm pretty sure its not my DSL modem or connection. All the lights come up on the Linksys as they should (power, internet and the Ethernet) but for some reason it seems the internet not getting trought the router. When its connected and I pull up my internet browser I type 192.168.1.1 and it takes me to the linksys config site. Without the router in the same address go to the Westell site as thats my DSL modem. Everything looks fine on the config site. All the correct IP, MAC, DNS address are there and still no internet access on any of my device.
I have the same problems with the Cisco EPC3925?Everytime a wired pc reboots/boots everyone on the network losses internet, also wireless is disconnected. Also everyone get unidentified network and later its set to public network. We are using a Sitecom switch LN-120. I have to unplug this switch, then restart the router to fix the problem each time. Then I can plug it in again and everything is fine. The router will not restart (does not go further then 2nd blinking LED.) if I do not unplug the switch.
I have a Linksys RPT300 (firmware 3.1.27) which I need to pass magic packets on port 9 to internal computer. on LAN the WOL works perfectly.I have masked my local lan to 255.255.255.128 to be able to broadcast on another subnet address than x.x.x.255 which the web interface dont seem to allow.Local LAN is 192.168.15.x and I have created a port forward on port 9 UDP to local broadcast address wich would then be 192.168.15.127. However nothing comes through and I cant seem to find a setting to enable/disable internet broadcasts. Is there a work around?
I have RVS4000 v02 and created 3 VLANs - 192.168.70.0/24, 192.168.80.0/24, and 192.168.90.0/24 . I tired to created IP based access list to deny network 192.168.80.0/24 and 192.168.90.0/24 to have access to 192.168.70.0/24; and deny 192.168.90.0/24 to access 192.168.80.0/24.
MY ACCESS LIST from RVS4000 Deny All Protocol LAN 192.168.80.0/255.255.255.0 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0 Any Time Every Day Deny All Protocol LAN 192.168.90.0/255.255.255.0 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0 Any Time Every Day Deny All Protocol LAN 192.168.90.0/255.255.255.0 192.168.80.0/255.255.255.0 Any Time Every Day Allow All Service LAN ANY ANY Any Time Every Day Allow All Service WAN ANY ANY Any Time Every Day
* all access list is enabled. Both 192.168.80.0 and 192.168.90.0 network can still reach 192.168.70.0 network.
I have an E4200 router & am trying to get it to work with ATV2 through HomeSharing & iTunes. It works fine when my PC is wireless & the ATV2 is wireless. BUT, when the ATV2 is wired via ethernet & the PC is wireless -- nothing!
PC is Win 7 64 - SP1 ATV2 is 4.4.3 (3323) and the router is: E4200 is 1.0.03 build 14
I have the WRT54G router for years and use it to provide both a wireless network for our home computers and a wired network for by internet phone that connects me to my office phone system and for my work computer and printer. Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.
The router stopped working for wired connections. I can still go online using my laptop via wifi, but when I connect a network cable to the laptop and turn off wi fi, connection does not work. Can't go online with a desktop with a wired connection to router.Everything else works via wi fi: iPad, android phone, tv with wifi.
My router was working just fine forever, the only computer that will connect VIA wire is my desktop, everything else for it to connect to my network it has to go wireless. Things like my blu ray player just will not connect. I am not an expert at all, but why is only the wireless working? I can use the Cisco connect and adjust the settings if need be.
just purchase this RV016 and the firmware has been updated to 3.0.2.01-tm.Every download I try through the router leads to a curruption somehow, even though the download manager gets it all. If I go straight from the cable modem I have no problems. It's a 4mbps upload and 0.8 downlink from what speedtest shows. I have tried diff DL managers, and get the same result on different connected PC's. The great thing about the RV016 is it speeds up the connection on this cable modem. What can I change to get downloads working?
I have a Belkin 8236-4 v2 I got from Belkin because they RMA'd a 6 yearold Pre-N that kicked the bucket. I've been having a hassle trying to get my connection stable. At first I thought it was because the DHCP was causing anything connected to the router to conflict, so I set one of the PCs on the network outside the DHCP range with a static IP and gave it the Google DNS, while this worked for my PS3(connected wirelessly) it did not solve the problem with this PC. I've looked around on the internet for the past few days trying to fix it, and tried several things, but no avail. I'm beginning to think I may need to just buy a whole new router from another company, because after reading reviews on this router I got, it seems to be a big problem for a lot of people, while it seems to happen on a number of other brand routers as well, so I don't want to give up on this thing just yet.
I recently purchased a DIR-655 and everything's working fine -- Internet access, visibility of local shares, etc. -- with the one except accessing to my printer (Brother MFC-7440N) that's hard-wired to a port on the router. After installing the latest PC SharePort Utility on my two Windows 7 desktops, they're both able to connect and use all of the features of the printer (print, scan, etc.). However, I can't say the same for my two Macbook Pro's connected via WiFi (802.11N). I installed the latest Mac SharePort Utility on both, but neither can "see" the printer. Caveat: If I connect the laptops via a LAN cable (ie. hard-wired directly into the router), they're able to see the printer. how to configure the router (or Mac) to allow them to see the printer?
Recently, my computer fried and I had to get another. I bought the exact same model, and since the hard drive was salvagable, I moved it from the old laptop to the new one. Now, my wireless is not working. I have tried installing the drivers, but it still says no connections are available. My modem and router are working fine...but for some reason, the wireless is not picking up on the laptop anymore[CODE]
I recently built a new computer and it runs a wired connection. I was having problems with dns dropping.until i set static ip and dns. But now whenever my computer is on my router doesn't broadcast a wireless signal and none of my devices can connect to wireless until I turn off my computer. The router is a linksys wrt54g2
I purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday. Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues. Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected. When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms. They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's. I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference. I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support. We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.
It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out. The computers connecting to router are
XP SP3 (mine) Win 7 Home (IPV6 turned off) Work laptop that uses VPN and VOIP
I have an e2000 wireless router and have several devices connected by ethernet cable including private data on an external hard drive. I am planning to allow a tenant in another building connect via an ethernet cable connected to my router. Can I limit that computer (tenant's computer) from accessing all other devices connected by ethernet cable to my router? I know can password protect wireless access and limit access to the internet that way -- but my question is specifically to connections by ethernet cable.
My E4200 router no longer accepts any WIRED connections. I can connect from the modem to the computer and everything works as expected. I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.
I have a home network with a wired BEFSR41 that, for a variety of reasons, MUST be manually IP configured (DHCP off). All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured. I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP. I therefore need to daisy-chain two routers with the second one DHCP on (and manual IP connection to the main network). The new device needs two-way internet access, but doesn't care if it sees any other current network devices. I've tried several configurations, none seem to work.
I have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
I just updated to the new firmware 1.0.02 and the USB stop working for my External Hard WD 500GB harddrive. I had to roll back to firmware 1.0.01 for it work
I have my router setup fine to the internet, as well as the media server. I can't figure out how to access the hard drive from my laptop, however. The manual says put 192.168.1.1 in the address field of windows explorer, but it just gives me the "Setup" page for the router.
I have a router that I upgraded the firmware a while ago, I stopped using it several months ago, I was going to give this router to my sister, i tried a hard reset(30 seconds press reset, unplug, hold hold the reset, wait 20 sec, plug power, hold for 30 sec and release the reset) and I tried to login with admin admin and it doesn't accept it. I tried with another router dlink 614i and the same problem, after resetting it it's not accepting admin admin log/pass.
Yesterday i upgraded my e4200 to firmware version 1.0.02 (Build 13) after waiting since february.Unfortunately it still doesn't recognize my WD 500 GB Essentials.
Im looking to swap out my older 3.5" drive in an external enclosure for a Seagate - FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB. Can I just drag and drop the 200+gb of files on my current drive to the new Seagate - FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB? Or do I need to re configure the new drive in my web browser.
