Everything works absolutely fine, after reading all of the posts in URL,I followed practically the same steps, using my network information instead. The xbox finds the network but the DNS servers cannot resolve the names of the Xbox live servers or Xbox.com.I was wondering if there was a step somewhere I had missed or needs to be changed. I've already gone through the motions of checking the router and everything.

May 12, 2012my dlink dsl-520b dls modem is using 192.168.1.1 and is plugged into the WAN port on my dlink wireless router.the wireless router is 192.168.0.1. (these are both in the main building which is remote from my shop).Then i have a netgear wireless access point This spreads the signal properly, and I can get connectivity on all my computers -although i do have to specify a default route on the computers on my shop side of the access point.I noticed that the internet light on my modem is red which indicates no internet connection. I am still able to access the internet fine, but i would like to be able to log into the modem from my network. I was able to do this before by setting a computer with a netmask of 255.255.0.0.

May 4, 2013I had my exisiting Huawei 3G Dongle replaced with a new LTE USB Dongle Huawei E392 from M1 Singapore. The router dectects it and I was able to get on to the Internet. But every after few mins, the connection will just hang and I have to go into the router to re-establish the connection.

Oct 9, 2011Iv been having a wierd time with my computer connecting to the internet lately. What we have is a setup of 2 routers:
1st - has my mums computer plugged into it and an xbox 360, and gets access to the internet through a modem.
2nd - is plugged into the first router, and it has my computer and my brothers connected.
Lately the 2nd router can't seem to pick up any internet connection and I'm not sure why. Usually the only way to fix this problem has usually been to reboot the modem and the 1st router, but since my mum often uses her computer its kind of awkward for me to keep rebooting it when she's using the internet just fine. As far as I'm aware the settings on both routers are still at their default values when we originally got them, so why I'm being disconnected 50% of the time is a bit of a nuisance.

I get an average connection on my laptop and a very low connection on my Xbox, both of which are in my room. My question is, what could I do to increase the reception in my room? Could I do anything to my router? Is it overheating(I don't think it is)?

After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

Dec 27, 2011The problem: running a standard single band 2.4gz BT homehub. When using my xbox and wireless headset (razer chimeara) the xbox loses connection. When i tuen the headset off i no longer lose connection. This suggests to me that the headset is simply emitting on the same frequency and bullying the connection, thus the xbox disconnects I have purchased the wireless N adapter to allow the xbox to run on the 2.4 or 5ghz band. I am now looking for a duel band router to allow my xbox to connect to the 5gz band and hopefully this will rectify my interference issue with the headset. I have been lookijg at the e4200 as this supports seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz band, so the xbox can run on the 5ghz and the intererence from the 2.4ghz headset should subside - do you think this would work? Also, with the single ssid duel band routers, where 2.4/5gjz share the same ssid - how would my wireless N devices know to run on the 5ghz and not the 2.4?

Aug 1, 2011Earlier today I attempted to change the setting on my Westell 6100 modem such that it would simply bridge the connection to my Linksys WRT54GS router, basically involving setting the router to bridge only and turning DHCP off. Now I no longer get an internet connection through my router when previously the connection had worked perfectly fine before. I following the steps of cloning the MAC address to the router and have done the proper resetting steps (computer, them router, then modem) but I simply can't get an internet connection through my router. The process to set up simple bridging from the modem what supposed to end up with the internet light no longer turning on but the light turned back on following one of the resets.
Currently, I can connect to the internet through the modem just fine but I get nothing when I include the router. I'm not sure if there are some other settings I'm supposed to be changing as I can't seem to find anything past what I've already done when researching online. At this point I would just be happy reverting the settings I've changed but I don't know how to access the modem now that DHCP is off.Basically, I'd prefer to be able to get the router working with these new settings but if that proves too difficult (as I've heard it can be when trying to get Westell modems to work with Linksys routers) I'd like to learn how to access the modem and change the settings back to what they were (preferably in as simple terms as possible as I don't particularly understand what a lot of these settings/configurations do).(And a bit of an aside, but I had attempted to do this modem bridging to "fix" perceived internet speed problems. I've been averaging around 300Kbps download rates ever since I've had this internet connection from Verizon when the supposed download rates should be between 1MB and 1.3MB. Doing this modem bridging had been reported to fix some modem/router conflicts and improved connection speeds for some.)
Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS Factory Defaults / Resetting Connection Type From PPPoE To Bridge
Jan 17, 2012I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

My xbox is fine all of the time and the other computers in the house are also fine when i checked them at night.- I also checked the ethernet cable from my pc to my xbox to see if that could be the issue - but the xbox worked fine with it.

Nov 15, 2012Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

Oct 26, 2011I have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band.The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.
