Successfully setup X Box connected via DPC3925 WIFI router to to Win 7 Media Center? I am sure I had uPNP enabled and I tried turning off Firewall for home network but no luck!
Adding the extender from Media Center always claims it can't find the X Box (Yes, I did enter the 8 digit key exactly as displayed on TV).
Im using my xbox 360 as a windows media center extender and wondering which ports I should open on my wrt310n to get it to work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't remember the last time I connected to the Windows media center on my Xbox 360 but I know recently I have tried to run a game server on the PC that the media center runs on. I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band.The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.
I have an old laptop in another room running WMC with windows 7. This is wired to my new DIR 655 router then via a switch to another room to my xbox 360. I have successfully connected the xbox as an extender but after a few minutes of idle time, the connection drops and my xbox automatically restarts. If I'm streaming something it seems to work fine.

I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
I was trying to use my Xbox as a media Center. But its really slow. It shows I have a low Bandwidth. My Pc is a MW 7. My current ( old) router is wired to the xbox. PC wireless. Do I need a new router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy netgear router kept dropping my internet connection so after some research I bought the DIR-655 router. It installed fine. My computer connects to the internet great and so does my xbox. But now my xbox doesn't see my PC so I can not set up a media center connection. I know it isn't a firewall setting or a setting on my computer because it worked fine with my old netgear router and the router I had before that. I even double checked by turning off the firewall. I have version 2.0 firmware and the settings are out of the box. I assume there is something I need to set up to get this to work but I have not been able to find any answers on the internet. I don't know a lot about networking as I've always used out of the box settings and had success with everything working the way I like.

I've just set up my new WDR4300. I have a media center PC that is able to access the router and a media center extender that is also able to access the router as well without issue. However, the media center pc cannot see the extender. I found this post which describes a similar issue and talks about another tp-link router that "Blocks SSDP Search or Notify packets, so the PC can never find the Extender during setup."I believe this may be the issue but am unsure where to start looking or how to correct it. I have enabled UPnP on the router and am still having no success. I believe it has to be something with the router since everything works correctly if I hook my old router back up.
I don't have a DVD drive in my Windows Media Center PC that's connected to my TV. I was wondering if there's a way I can insert the disc into a networked PC that has a DVD drive and watch the movie on my Media Center PC.

I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.
getting my computer connected to the internet.I have a fresh install of XP Media Center Edition with SP2. I don't really have anything else installed as I wanted to make sure my internet connection was working to get updates. I tried connecting my other mac computer and Iphone to the connection and it works. I also tried connecting via ethernet as well, it worked as well. I have been trying to call the CISCO number to no avail, and it is really frustrating to be paying premium for the connection, I don't feel supported at all.

My question is the following; Wich WIFI adapter is the best adapter for my Cisco Model DPC3925 modem/router?The distance between the modem/router and my pc is not that much. And when I use an cable the connection is between the 90Mbit/110Mbit. The WIFI adapter that I now use is the: TP-Link TL-WN881ND. I have no other connectivity issues. The only thing that I remember doing that may have caused this was to upgrade my firmware because my droid phone wouldn't connect.

However as all media files are stored on one PC I was thinking about getting a external USB drive and connecting this to the router and use that as the media server, this would save a PC having to be on all the time.
I use one of the xboxes as a media player as well, streaming movies and music. Will the 360 pick up the media server and be able to stream from there?I can not find anything on the internet as well about the possibilities for this.
I bought the E3000 last year and have no problems until recently. My room is about 25-30 feet away from my router and I've been getting a low wifi connection in the last month. I get an average connection on my laptop and a very low connection on my Xbox, both of which are in my room. My question is, what could I do to increase the reception in my room? Could I do anything to my router? Is it overheating(I don't think it is)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem: running a standard single band 2.4gz BT homehub. When using my xbox and wireless headset (razer chimeara) the xbox loses connection. When i tuen the headset off i no longer lose connection. This suggests to me that the headset is simply emitting on the same frequency and bullying the connection, thus the xbox disconnects I have purchased the wireless N adapter to allow the xbox to run on the 2.4 or 5ghz band. I am now looking for a duel band router to allow my xbox to connect to the 5gz band and hopefully this will rectify my interference issue with the headset. I have been lookijg at the e4200 as this supports seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz band, so the xbox can run on the 5ghz and the intererence from the 2.4ghz headset should subside - do you think this would work? Also, with the single ssid duel band routers, where 2.4/5gjz share the same ssid - how would my wireless N devices know to run on the 5ghz and not the 2.4?

Now after installing Windows XP, I can't access the internet and I can't save anything because I keep getting insufficient memory errors (but my drive is almost empty), but I have been able to update drivers.
I have managed to recover some of the drivers but I can't figure out what I have to do to get my desktop to access the web. I have tried directly connecting to my router and using my wireless USB adapter (whose driver I can't install because of an insufficient error message).

I have been able to play streaming video via Windows Media Player with no problems for just about forever until last month.No software has changed. i have the latest firmware (2.39.2e) for the router. i am able to play the same videos when i use my AT&T data connection or when i am connected at work, ,so i know it's not the files i'm trying to view. WMP fails to play whether i am hard connected or wirelessly connected.

Set up the WDR4300 with a USB drive connected (Platinum MyDrive CP 500 GB USB 3.0).Enabled the Media server, shared the entire drive, stuck an test .avi on there.My laptop has no trouble playing it from the attached storage, my Xbox sees the folders and files, recognizes them as playable formats but then does nothing once I hit play to get the file going.If I copy the exact same file to the shared folders on my laptop, navigate from the Xbox to that location it streams within the second.Also tried the same thing with a 16 Gb USB thumbdrive, same result.
If i can stream films form an external hard drive connected to an xbox 360 without the aid of a pc effectively using the xbox 360 as a nas.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSet up a Smart Wi-Fi yesterday. Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router N600. Have 2 computers side by side. Connected my computer seamlessly. Works perfect. Went to set up my husbands computer (both computer are desk top HP Pavillion running windows 7) and the way I was doing it thru the network sharing center on his computer I was not able to get the computer to see the wi-fi. I tried both the router p/w and the p/w that was supplied by the smart wi-fi help center. So I wired it directly to the Linksys router with a new cat-5 ethernet cable. VOILA..internet connection! Question..is his computer secure even tho it doesn't have it's own p/w and is wired directly to the router? My thought is "yes" since the router is p/w protected.

Since then, I have use malwarebytes anti malware, ccleaner and microsoft security essentials to scan and remove the virus.Usually what happens is that I will be using firefox, and all of a sudden most of my programs would exit, and one of those fake virus scanners come up (Microsoft security essentials also turns off if that is important). I open the task manager, and identify the program. I open explorer (as i can't open mbam, or mse) and delete the file. While it is in the recycle bin, I can open mbam (for some reason, it asks what program to open mbam with, I just pick mbam from the list) and I scan, and remove the threats. Then I empty the recycle bin, and use ccleaner to fix the registries. Lastly, I use mse to scan the computer.Everything works for a while until it comes back again....and again....and again. I've tried the same steps in safe mode and again in regular mode. It's still happening.

On my XBOX 360 i have the IP & DNS set to Auto, and I get an OPEN setting on my NAT.But when I play online (Halo 3) I can't join any of my friends' parties,acting like it is STRICT. When I set up my IP & DNS to Manual and put in static IP & DNS, I run the tests and get STRICT. It seems to me that even though my NAT "says" its OPEN, it is really on STRICT.

All excited I scoot over to the PS 3 - righto we can do this!! Only to see no titles found. Great stuff Go to router - media server - scan - database updated - awesome let's try again! No titles found. Ok?!? Reboot router - reboot ps3. Still frowning - no titles found?
