I have a Motorola Surfboard cable modem with a Comcast account that is supposed to get "up to 15 mps". My desktop works gloriously, but my laptops and everything else hooked up to the net through my Media link Wireless N Router either run incredibly slow, or get kicked off completely.I've already had the router replaced one.
View 19 RepliesI have an NTFS formatted USB disk drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential Black 320 GB WDBAAA3200ABK) attached to the WRT160NL wireless router (Firmware Version 1.0.02), and I have video, picture and music files on the USB disk drive in three folders: Videos, Music, Pictures. Auto-scan is disabled, I scan the media files manually by clicking on the 'Scan All' button.
PROBLEM 1 The worst problem is that the router is very sensitive to files that can't be recognized by the router as media files. For example if there are subtitle files (*.str) between the media files, then strange and nondeterministic things happen: some valid media files are skipped and not included in the media database; some files included but the file names are mixed. The most irritating in the bug is that there is no log file, where you could find the problem, and so you never know which file cause the problem, and you have to browse through all the files hunting for the cause.
PROBLEM 2 When the router is in the process of scanning the media files, then the internet (WAN) connection often can't be used, although the router can be accessed and the status says it is connected to the internet.
for about the last month my internet has become extremely unstable. It is fine sometimes, but for the majority of the time there is a decent amount of ping. There are also times where the internet will just crash altogether, requiring a modem reset, which only seems to fix the ping momentarily.

The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?

I once again went to cmd then ipconfig where there it then said media disconnected. I mess something up since now nothing can connected to WiFi?

I am able to see the files on my Tv, however every time I watch something, it disconnects after a minute on everything. It also happens on Ps3 when trying to play a game like battlefield 3.Sometimes the wifi disconnects altogether but I am able to correct that with a program I found. I have 50mb broadband speed with virgin media. However the roughter is my own, which is the newish Cisco 3000, which is designed to gamers and media watching.

I have upgraded to the latest firmware which solved lots of problems regarding unstable wifi connection as well as BitTorrent / P2P transfers.But I also observed that when my BT is on (Transmission for Mac) at around 50KB/s upload and download, my network latency hikes up from some 30ms to 500ms which affects a lot on web browsing or other apps requiring Internet.My BitTorrent app is showing I am merely making some 20 peers connection so I am not convinced that is an ISP problem but it's more about the router.
I've had two 932Ls for a year and they work fine. Both installed trouble-free and have been used with motion-detection wirelessly. I often go straight to their local IPs in my browser to make any changes to settings etc (avoiding myDlink). I just bought two 930Ls (don't need/want the IR-function on these) and tried to install them. Process went seemingly smooth but once the camera was installed and wireless, problems started to crop up. As I saved settings in the web interface, I would get 404 "page not found" errors. Refreshing would make it work again...sometimes. More often than not, I cannot reach it through the web interface and the camera reads "disconnected" in D-ViewCam. It usually works on myDlink though. i've checked all the network and wireless settings and they are identical to my 932Ls. The connection is just unstable for some reason. The problems are apparent in the web interface and D-ViewCam which also means I can't trust the motion detection and emailing function. It is also NOT visible in my Windows 7 network environment, whereas the two 932Ls (and my entire Sonos network) do show up there.The 930L is running firmware 1.04 and the 932Ls are running 1.02. I know there is a 1.06 available but before I try that I'd like to get your views on this problem. Could it be a faulty unit? I don't want to fight through this problems - if it persists I'd rather return the cameras and buy two more expensive 932Ls and just turn off the IR in the interface. Or is this a known issue with the 1.04 firmware?
Even writing this right now, the camera suddenly popped back up on the web interface inexplicably, without me doing anything. and back up on D-View Main Console.
My D-Link 802.11g/2.4GHz Wireless Broadband Router is not turning on. None of the lights turn on. I have checked all the cords, and they are all properly plugged it. My laptop can not wireless connect.Model # of D-Link Router: DI-524
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Comcast as an ISP and have a standalone Arris modem. I, obviously, have a DIR-655 router REV B with a firmware revision on 2.00NA. I have already turned off packet shaping and QOS. Also, I have set the firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for both TCP and UDP, and assigned static IP addresses to my computers. The problem I am having is that whenever I go to any secure websites, i.e. anything that starts with https, it takes an extraordinary long time to log in and to navigate to any webpages therein. I also cannot upload photos to a website and when I try the Speed-test.net website the download speed is OK but the upload test errors out, it doesn't connect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my EA2700 for about 6 months now. Have had no problems until about a month ago. One night I could not get the router to connect to the internet. First thoughts were that the cable connection had gone down. When I finally started to trouble shoot I was able to confirm the cable connection is fine by connecting to the modem directly.
Out of the modem I am getting 14+ Mbps. (I only Pay for 10 So a plus there)
I could not get the router to connect to the internet. I ended up resetting the router and reconfiguring it. Ever since then I have been getting really unstable connection to the internet.
When I connect directly to the modem (cabled) I am getting a nice steady connection . When I add the router and hardware in I get a good connection only a Mbps or 2 drop off and a pretty steady connection. Then when I connect over WIFI I get a much larger drop off depending on if the device is a 2.4 or a 5
The connection is extremely unstable. The curve on the graph {URL} is very peaky and has extreme highs and lows. This is multiplied when running on the GHz (as my laptop runs on). My Iphone running on GHz. I can pull down 9 Mbps but the curve is still up and down. Iphone on GHz I barely get Mbps and it is extremely choppy on the graph.
I am able to back this up with my I PAD. I can only confirm the 2.4 number with the laptop as it does not have GHz radio in it. So every thing that us running on the 2.4 is getting poor connections.
I also suspect that the through put on the wired side is poor as well. I am unable to prove it as every test I run shows a good connection but netflix has been locking up and I have to restart what ever I am watching 2 to even 10 times a show. I need to do more testing to be sure the network or the devices are to blame.
Just installed a refurb EA4500 this past weekend after testing it for a week. The regular wireless network is very stable, but not much faster than my single-band DLink DIR655. Guest network seems to drop out from two connected iPhones, and when the connection drops, you have to re-login and type in the guest password everytime. The linksys firmware is up-to-date( Linksys smart wifi)and so are the iOS on the 2 iPhones. Just to add, on my old DLink, the guest network comes up secured also, so when you type in the passcode, it remembers it next it comes in range unlike the Cisco, which requires login at a web interface.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've set up PPPoE on my EA4500 router with a Vigor 120 modem in bridged mode and it says an internet connection is established, but the connection is extremely slow on all my devices. When I run the speed test within the EA4500 firmware it appears fine, but I cannot load any web pages on my laptop or other decives because the connection is so slow. The connection is slow with both wired and wireless connections. I've tried changing the MTU settings with no success. I've also tried using a different router and connecting the modem directly to my laptop and using PPPoE within the laptop and these both work fine, so I think it's clear there is a problem with the EA4500 router itself.
I'm just using the Vigor 120 to authenticate and connect to the internet itself, with the router in DHCP automatic configuration mode. I think this is causing a double NAT.
For the last 4 years I’ve been using the Linksys Router, model WRT150N V. 1.1 and never had any problems—until now.Yesterday I noticed that my wireless devices (i.e., two computers, tablet and Internet radio) either don’t work at all (the Internet radio) or the pages load extremely slowly—for example, the tablet has become, for all intents and purposes, unusable. Since my ‘main’ computer is connected directly to my cable internet, I know that there is nothing wrong with the Internet connection itself, only with wireless connection.I disconnected the Linksys Router for 2 minutes and reconnected it, but to no avail. I know that I have not made any changes to any software/hardware that might affect the speed.Since I also happen to have access to another wireless Internet connection (a different provider), I connected to that network and all my wireless devices were working perfectly. Therefore, I think the problem must be with the router. I am using Windows XP (on the main computer, where the router and Internet cable are attached).

I live in a house with a bunch of other university students so I would estimate we have about 18 devices that connect to the router such as laptops, mobile phones, and gaming systems. Every few hours our wireless router will just stop working and drop everyone's connection including the connection to the wired Ethernet ports. The light which is normally green on the front of the router turns yellow and will stay that way until the router is reset. The network still shows up on all the devices with full signal bars but no access.

For the past three weeks, my router keeps on disconnecting my Desktop P.C. from which the main internet cable is connected. Whenever it happens, I try connecting my Netbook over a WiFi connection using the same router; and even though my desktop can not connect to the internet, my netbook still can. Apparently when it happens, the [3] (the 4th light in the image) light goes off, and I have to restart my Desktop P.C. for it to turn on again and to use the internet again.

But it couldn't connect wireless. There were strong signals but connected computer couldn't get access to the internet. so i tried using ethernet uplink instead of DSL uplink while reinstalling the software Since then the light of ADSL never lights, even it never blinks. now the software on the cd can connect to the router. i cannot access its settings using IP address in browser, the page wouldn't load. I am so worried. Can i revert the setting back to dsl uplink?I can connect to the internet very smoothly using my old router so you can't blame my phone line or lan wire. I have tried reset the new router many times but still the ADSL light never lights up. And the ADSL light is ok because when i turn the router on, it lights with all the others.

When I use the routers inbuilt ping utility to ping Google or any other site I get a reply.But when I connect my computer to the router on the LAN port I see no internet on my computer. I am able to ping the router address but not google.I tried disabling all Firewalls and Antivirus I have but problem still the same.Also I tried connecting over WIFI but still no internet.I also called up TP-LINK helpline several time and got my router replaced. I bought a PCI Wireless card and I have been having problems connecting to and staying connected with the network. Once I am connected the connection speed is very slow. I have tried reinstalling windows and my card several times, even going to the store to swap it out. I have a feeling that one simple setting is changed, but I can't figure out what it is. I am currently on a laptop that is also running windows 7, but has none of the problems of the desktop. I tried to run the Netalyzer program on the desktop, however, the network disconnected as soon as I tried. View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my issue has been going on for a while now a while after I replaced the router from a DIR-535(If I recall) to a DIR-635. Now the problem resides in my computer however as it would seem that I randomly tend to loose internet acces and it only applies to my computer in the form of obviously loss of internet and the horrid warning triangel in the corner. I've tried removing and restarting the connection without any succes, I also tried to do a ipconfig /release /flushdns and /renew but it didnt seem to do anything either, basically been throwing attempts at a wall to see what works.
As far as the actual card goes it's a Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band.The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.
I have an old laptop in another room running WMC with windows 7. This is wired to my new DIR 655 router then via a switch to another room to my xbox 360. I have successfully connected the xbox as an extender but after a few minutes of idle time, the connection drops and my xbox automatically restarts. If I'm streaming something it seems to work fine.

I just had comcast internet installed, and am using a linksys wireless router (WRT160N). When I connect my netbook to the network it gets 0.7mbps on speedtest.net, when I use my girlfriends laptop it gets 16+mbps. I have tried everything, I am at my whits end. I have updated my firmware, updated windows to the the limit and reset the settings on my router. If I connect my netbook directly to the router I get 20+ but wireless is 0.7 and upload speed stays the same. I am using an HP Mini 210-2000 with windows 7 starter, I have updated it to service pack 1 and have all the windows based drivers installed. I have not tested it on another wireless network to see if it gets the same terrible connection. I don't know if its something with my computer, windows 7 starter, or the way my computer talks to the router

after changing from a Thomson router with wifi to the TP-link WDR-4900 I find that the wifi is very unstable. The 2.4GHz is operating on the same channel as my previous router (channel 8 - which is the lest busy channel around my house), and none of my neighbours have wifi on the 5GHz band. Almost all devices in my home regularly have to reconnect to the wifi, both on the 2.4GHz as on the 5GHz (tested with more than 8 devices). Almost every 15 minutes I see a "wifi channel disconnected" message, 10 seconds later followed by a "wifi connected" message. the Wifianalyser app on my tablet confirms that the wifi signal drops once in a while to zero. I use the latest stable frmware (I read that there is beta firmware but I don't like to loose warranty). The stability seems to unrelated to the amount of traffic on the wifi network.
Will this be fixed in the next firmware of the TP-WDR-4900 ?
I have a Linksys WRT110 wireless router for my desktop via a D-link DWA-125 wireless adapter. The OS is Windows 7 64 bit and I mainly go online to play games. This has been a while and every time I play games, which requires stable connection, I will get this lag (the ping goes as high as 600ms for every few seconds then goes back to normal).I tried many ways to troubleshoot and find no solutions. I updated firmware for USB adapter, power cycling the router and reset the router many times.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought the WMP600N because Linksys and Microsoft listed it as 'compatible' for Windows 7 x64. My experience:
- unstable and weak connection
- pings to websites like google.com drops, average: 1 out of 3
- low signal, on the same spot my three years old HP-laptop with 'a build in wireless card' has full signal strength in Windows 7
- it works well under Windows XP (32 bit)
I am convinced that drivers for the WMP600N are not ready for Window 7 x64. Linksys (or Ralink, which developed the chipset), release a proper driver for the WMP600N.
I bought yesterday a wireless modem/router and Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem Router Td-W8960n.I have 2 laptop computers at home.The first issue I have is that with one of the laptops (quite old - Acer Aspire 2420-2579 with Windows Vista Basic Service Pack 1) I can not connect (wireless) to the internet. It says local access only. However in other countries (IM in NZ) it does connect to internet. It does work when I use an Ethernet cable between my router and the laptop. The second issue is with my other laptop. A HP Pavillion DV-4 windows vista home premium service pack 2. I manage to get wireless access to the internet but every couple of minutes the connections drops and starts again by itself�. After 1-2 min approx�. it is getting pretty annoying!I don�t think it is the routher as I also have an XBOX 360 connectet to the internet usign the same device and works absolutely fine!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router. My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!
I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.
The problem is that it always stays around 121-150mbps and sometimes 270mbps(beside router). here is my wireless settings on my router
