I have an old laptop in another room running WMC with windows 7. This is wired to my new DIR 655 router then via a switch to another room to my xbox 360. I have successfully connected the xbox as an extender but after a few minutes of idle time, the connection drops and my xbox automatically restarts. If I'm streaming something it seems to work fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band.The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.
My netgear router kept dropping my internet connection so after some research I bought the DIR-655 router. It installed fine. My computer connects to the internet great and so does my xbox. But now my xbox doesn't see my PC so I can not set up a media center connection. I know it isn't a firewall setting or a setting on my computer because it worked fine with my old netgear router and the router I had before that. I even double checked by turning off the firewall. I have version 2.0 firmware and the settings are out of the box. I assume there is something I need to set up to get this to work but I have not been able to find any answers on the internet. I don't know a lot about networking as I've always used out of the box settings and had success with everything working the way I like.

I've just set up my new WDR4300. I have a media center PC that is able to access the router and a media center extender that is also able to access the router as well without issue. However, the media center pc cannot see the extender. I found this post which describes a similar issue and talks about another tp-link router that "Blocks SSDP Search or Notify packets, so the PC can never find the Extender during setup."I believe this may be the issue but am unsure where to start looking or how to correct it. I have enabled UPnP on the router and am still having no success. I believe it has to be something with the router since everything works correctly if I hook my old router back up.

Adding the extender from Media Center always claims it can't find the X Box (Yes, I did enter the 8 digit key exactly as displayed on TV).

I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.
View 13 Replies View RelatedRecently, my PC has been losing connection to the internet at 1am.It doesnt tell me its lost connection and when i repair the connection it says that it has been repaired - but nothing will connect to the internet and the Zone Alarm symbol stays static instead of its usual green/red activity bars to let me know data is moving in and out.
My xbox is fine all of the time and the other computers in the house are also fine when i checked them at night.- I also checked the ethernet cable from my pc to my xbox to see if that could be the issue - but the xbox worked fine with it.

My samsung galaxy phone with android os connects to the weak signal of the far away router in stead of connecting til to range extender close by.Signal from extender is strong but the phone seems to have problems in obtaining the IP addres from the extender.Have returned to factory settings and made new setup - but still the same problem, and only with connecting tilthe Xyzel range extender 2205?

Set up the WDR4300 with a USB drive connected (Platinum MyDrive CP 500 GB USB 3.0).Enabled the Media server, shared the entire drive, stuck an test .avi on there.My laptop has no trouble playing it from the attached storage, my Xbox sees the folders and files, recognizes them as playable formats but then does nothing once I hit play to get the file going.If I copy the exact same file to the shared folders on my laptop, navigate from the Xbox to that location it streams within the second.Also tried the same thing with a 16 Gb USB thumbdrive, same result.
I don't have a DVD drive in my Windows Media Center PC that's connected to my TV. I was wondering if there's a way I can insert the disc into a networked PC that has a DVD drive and watch the movie on my Media Center PC.

Now after installing Windows XP, I can't access the internet and I can't save anything because I keep getting insufficient memory errors (but my drive is almost empty), but I have been able to update drivers.
I have managed to recover some of the drivers but I can't figure out what I have to do to get my desktop to access the web. I have tried directly connecting to my router and using my wireless USB adapter (whose driver I can't install because of an insufficient error message).

getting my computer connected to the internet.I have a fresh install of XP Media Center Edition with SP2. I don't really have anything else installed as I wanted to make sure my internet connection was working to get updates. My computer is a Dell XPS720 desktop I have a DSL connection with [URL] and a Dlink Wireless Router DIR655.I have two portable computers that are on the local network with wireless connections and they are working o.k.On my desktop at the command prompt; I cannot "ping" anything and "ipconfig /all" returns nothing at all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
I have a HTPC that I use to feed two XBOX extenders (all are hardwired, through a switch). I was using the onboard Realtek NIC, but having some stuttering issues for live and recorded TV feeds. I installed a new Intel NIC, but cannot get the Xboxs to connect back using that connection. Everything else is working (Internet, NAS drives, etc) with that card, only the Xbox extenders. I did delete the original connection and tried adding back as new, but have since had to revert back to the original NIC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a fibre optic internet connection, the modem being connected to the TP Link wireless router. The set up works fine most of the time, but at times all the computers connected lose internet connection. The ISP says everything is fine from their end, and locally we are all connected to the wireless router just fine when this happens. I usually just unplug the modem and the wireless router from their power, in order to reset everything, and this seems to solve it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a dir-825 connected to Cable modem and a dap-1360 connected I have both wireless and wired clients.If get a ip address conflict and the the dir-825 connection fails from the cable modem and nothing seams to restore that connection, i reboot both route and modem and make sure no client are on. The only way i can figure out how to restore the router is to reset and reinstall from factory state.I can recreate this on 2 different router "825" with factory and updated firmware.I have removed the wireless extender form the picture and this issue has stopped, it might be the extender of a client off the extender. But everything uses DHCP so I'm not sure why ip address conflicts could cause this issue.

It stops connecting to Internet randomly i.e. any URL typed in from the browser times out.I connect various devices such as desktop, laptop, ipad2 over wired and wireless connections and the behavior is the same from all devices when this problem occurs. If I make a direct connection to the DLS modem, it works fine for the whole day, without these issues.I also observed IP address conflict messages and my desktop does not connect to Internet if I am running VPN on my laptop, at the same time, occasionally.When this occurs, I am able to login to the router and can see the WAN status and the DHCP address being allocated to the router. I can even do DHCP release and renew, but that does not fix the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt took a while but I've had my 1522 running well for several days. However, if I power down and then power up the 1522, it never reconnects. The bridge mode light flashes 5 times, then - nothing.
So, I have to disconnect everything, bring the 1522 back to my main PC, attach it, let it connect properly, then unattach and re-attach at it's use site.
(I'm using a static IP address and a Cisco E3000 router working perfectly with all my other stuff. Firmware v1.31)

I have a WR700N set up in bridge mode so as to provide a wifi signal in far end of our home. I used Bridge so we can tell which router we are connecting to. So we have two SSIDs (MySSID1 and MySSID2) Both with secure log-in. This works fine for about a day, and then disconnects. I then have to mess with the WR700N by plugging it in and out, maybe logging into it and changing something. Then it will work again - for a day
I updated the firmware with no change. Main router is a Dlink 615 with IP of 192.168.0.1. connected to cable modem. TP-LINK is set at default of 192.168.0.254 and gets a wireless signal from dlink.In an attempt to improve situation, I now have both units set to channel 11 and with fixed 20Mhz channel width. b/g/n on TP and g/n on dlink.

The 5 ghz connects fine for multiple machines however machines on 2.4 simultaneously lose their connection to the internet, sometimes saying it is still connected to the internet when it is not and sometimes losing connection with the router entirely. The 5ghz still works when this happens.
If i can stream films form an external hard drive connected to an xbox 360 without the aid of a pc effectively using the xbox 360 as a nas.

Just bought a TL-WR940N and it was always loosing connection and freezing / locking up. I upgraded to the latest FW from the link below URL but it still freezes and loses connection to devices after 8-12 hours, keeps hanging up and pages sometime don't load.
I have recently purchased a WAG320N. It is working perfectly, connecting 3 PC's, 2 Xbox 360's and a laptop to the internet and each other.
However as all media files are stored on one PC I was thinking about getting a external USB drive and connecting this to the router and use that as the media server, this would save a PC having to be on all the time.
I use one of the xboxes as a media player as well, streaming movies and music. Will the 360 pick up the media server and be able to stream from there?I can not find anything on the internet as well about the possibilities for this.
Until yesterday my various equipment was networking to each other and the internet without a problem. After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

Also, for some reason, I am now unable to connect to Xbox Live using my laptop as a router (plugging the ethernet cable from my xbox to my laptop). The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
I have tested each antenna separately. With each antenna attached one at a time the left and right antenna is giving me -20 signal. The center is only giving me -65 signal. Is this a problem with the router or normal? I noticed that the center pin is pushed in more then the left and right. Don't know if that is the cause.
