I was trying to use my Xbox as a media Center. But its really slow. It shows I have a low Bandwidth. My Pc is a MW 7. My current ( old) router is wired to the xbox. PC wireless. Do I need a new router?
View 1 RepliesI can't remember the last time I connected to the Windows media center on my Xbox 360 but I know recently I have tried to run a game server on the PC that the media center runs on. I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy netgear router kept dropping my internet connection so after some research I bought the DIR-655 router. It installed fine. My computer connects to the internet great and so does my xbox. But now my xbox doesn't see my PC so I can not set up a media center connection. I know it isn't a firewall setting or a setting on my computer because it worked fine with my old netgear router and the router I had before that. I even double checked by turning off the firewall. I have version 2.0 firmware and the settings are out of the box. I assume there is something I need to set up to get this to work but I have not been able to find any answers on the internet. I don't know a lot about networking as I've always used out of the box settings and had success with everything working the way I like.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band.The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old laptop in another room running WMC with windows 7. This is wired to my new DIR 655 router then via a switch to another room to my xbox 360. I have successfully connected the xbox as an extender but after a few minutes of idle time, the connection drops and my xbox automatically restarts. If I'm streaming something it seems to work fine.

Adding the extender from Media Center always claims it can't find the X Box (Yes, I did enter the 8 digit key exactly as displayed on TV).

Now after installing Windows XP, I can't access the internet and I can't save anything because I keep getting insufficient memory errors (but my drive is almost empty), but I have been able to update drivers.
I have managed to recover some of the drivers but I can't figure out what I have to do to get my desktop to access the web. I have tried directly connecting to my router and using my wireless USB adapter (whose driver I can't install because of an insufficient error message).

getting my computer connected to the internet.I have a fresh install of XP Media Center Edition with SP2. I don't really have anything else installed as I wanted to make sure my internet connection was working to get updates. My computer is a Dell XPS720 desktop I have a DSL connection with [URL] and a Dlink Wireless Router DIR655.I have two portable computers that are on the local network with wireless connections and they are working o.k.On my desktop at the command prompt; I cannot "ping" anything and "ipconfig /all" returns nothing at all.

I've just set up my new WDR4300. I have a media center PC that is able to access the router and a media center extender that is also able to access the router as well without issue. However, the media center pc cannot see the extender. I found this post which describes a similar issue and talks about another tp-link router that "Blocks SSDP Search or Notify packets, so the PC can never find the Extender during setup."I believe this may be the issue but am unsure where to start looking or how to correct it. I have enabled UPnP on the router and am still having no success. I believe it has to be something with the router since everything works correctly if I hook my old router back up.
I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
If i can stream films form an external hard drive connected to an xbox 360 without the aid of a pc effectively using the xbox 360 as a nas.

However as all media files are stored on one PC I was thinking about getting a external USB drive and connecting this to the router and use that as the media server, this would save a PC having to be on all the time.

Set up the WDR4300 with a USB drive connected (Platinum MyDrive CP 500 GB USB 3.0).Enabled the Media server, shared the entire drive, stuck an test .avi on there.My laptop has no trouble playing it from the attached storage, my Xbox sees the folders and files, recognizes them as playable formats but then does nothing once I hit play to get the file going.If I copy the exact same file to the shared folders on my laptop, navigate from the Xbox to that location it streams within the second.Also tried the same thing with a 16 Gb USB thumbdrive, same result.
I've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router. My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!
I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.
Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

Is this a problem with the router or normal? I noticed that the center pin is pushed in more then the left and right. Don't know if that is the cause.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe've been upgrading our WLCs to 7.0.230.0 but I've notifced after they have been upgraded they no longer appear in the controller section in License Center on the WCS. They still exist in the WCS and the audit the configuration jobs are working. I've also tried manually triggering the Controller License Status background tasks and this runs without reporting any errors.I thought it may be because the WCS was at a lower version but I've now upgraded this to 7.0.230.0 also but the WLCs are still missing.

We have 2 DCs and from best practice architecture view WLC should not be placed on the Data Center segment, but it seems that is the only option i have.
DCs host 6509s, i am planning to host 1 WiSM in each DC, all clients will be on seperate subnet. Do you foresee any issues with this deployment or any security issues? authentications are followed as per cisco recommendation, clients authenticated against AD through ACS so it is fairly secure.
I am connected wirelessly on my laptop to my DIR-655 (D-Link) router. There is something weird going on to me in which is shows I am connected to two networks, one my home network clearly identified. The other one a "public network" listed as unidentified, all on one wireless connection. I run Windows 7 SP 1 32-bit. I would like somehow to merge or remove the second one from the listing.

Since then, I have use malwarebytes anti malware, ccleaner and microsoft security essentials to scan and remove the virus.Usually what happens is that I will be using firefox, and all of a sudden most of my programs would exit, and one of those fake virus scanners come up (Microsoft security essentials also turns off if that is important). I open the task manager, and identify the program. I open explorer (as i can't open mbam, or mse) and delete the file. While it is in the recycle bin, I can open mbam (for some reason, it asks what program to open mbam with, I just pick mbam from the list) and I scan, and remove the threats. Then I empty the recycle bin, and use ccleaner to fix the registries. Lastly, I use mse to scan the computer.Everything works for a while until it comes back again....and again....and again. I've tried the same steps in safe mode and again in regular mode. It's still happening.

We have a generic management pack installed that seems to work for parts of the 5525. We can see performance info for IF-4 but none of the other interfaces.
Our Management Pack is a generic Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Version 9.1(1) management pack.
Is there a management pack that is specifically for this Cisco firewall?
