Mar 31, 2011how are load balancers classified? I did quite a bit a reading on the topic and found that the three basic types are switches,software based and hardware based. But what do global server load balancing,firewall load balancing etc refer to?Are these load balancing methods?

Jul 2, 2011We are in middle of deploying WiSM2s on our network, from a design point of view i am confused on where to position the WiSM2s. We have 2 DCs and from best practice architecture view WLC should not be placed on the Data Center segment, but it seems that is the only option i have.
DCs host 6509s, i am planning to host 1 WiSM in each DC, all clients will be on seperate subnet. Do you foresee any issues with this deployment or any security issues? authentications are followed as per cisco recommendation, clients authenticated against AD through ACS so it is fairly secure.

We used to have a network manager who set everything up but he left the company. Basically we have this issue that if you connect to Cisco L2TP Remote Access VPN you can't access any resources at our Data Center. Also if you connect directly to the LAN.

From a hardware standpoint, can the ASA 5505 handle this load. The licence is for unlimitedf inside hosts but what is the actual limit on this platform?

Sep 7, 2011I have some doubts about the best solution for the design of a mini data center.In the data center there is a 6500 with FWSM module installed, there are some vlans created, all of them in the fwsm module. For example, a back end server to communicate with a server in the front end must always pass through the firewall. My question is, all these flows passing in the firewall does not degrade the speed of communication?What is the best practice, just pass the communications with the WAN in the firewall, and the vlan communication between front end and back end is only set up in 6500?

Nov 4, 2012We will be moving to a new data center in the very near future and with them our WAN IP addresses will be changing. Any best course of action for changing the IP addresses throughout the firewall configuration? Would it be possible/suggested to export the running-config, make the neccessary changes, then import the config? I am familiar with the ASA 5510 only so far as changes are required. It is not something I work with on a regular basis.

Feb 21, 2013I have a problem to solve in our data center, see attached drawing. HW: Our core switches consists of two stacked C3750 with ip routing. What I want to do is probably simple but I haven't been able to figure out the best method.
VLAN10 and VLAN20 should not be able to communicate with each other. (ACLs?)VLAN10 will have it's own default route/firewall. Both VLAN10 and VLAN20 should be able to send server backups to server in VLAN30. All 3 V LANs come in on a trunk from a pair of stacked C2960-S. I need it to be able to scale if we have 50 VLANs for instance, hopefully without long complicated ACLs. I've been considering VRF's, PBR but can't decide what's the simplest solution to this problem. I have never done this before so I would prefer to start off on the right foot.
Unable To Load Webpage Because Server Sent No Data
Apr 4, 2012I did nothing different to my computer. It was online fine and then an hour later when I came back, it wouldn't load any pages. I have a DSL modem and a wireless router that also connects another family member's desktop to the Internet. (As well as our phones via wifi.). The connection is fine on the other PC through a wireless adapter (both are desktops), and on the wifi the phones work perfectly so I know the modem and router aren't the problem. But even though my desktop says it's connected (not wirelessly, it directly connects to the router.), no pages will load. If I use chrome browser it eventually tells me this webpage is not available regardless of which page I try to load, or sometimes it's telling me no data received - unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Yet oddly a couple of times after forever it seemed to half load a couple pages. Internet Explorer just keeps trying to load pages forever with blank white page as a result.

I know that trace route gets some information about the hops from my IP to a server (for example www.google.com) but this info is about the forward path. But I want to know what is the path from the server to my PC, what is the reverse path (return path)? What are the middle hops? In other word, I want to know where is the forward and reverse path when I ping a server? I can find the forward path using trace route, but what about the return path?

(I can connect via US proxy, but cannot run the java applet via the proxy, it seems it is still trying to go from here to there).

I can load this page (just a landing page comment) as well as their main pages via us proxy, but time out trying to load directly. Fiddler returns a 502 error, socket connection failed.
have tested on 3 machines (all on same router), then on a laptop which hadn't been booted or updated in over a year (also on same router). Trying to find a free wireless network to test with the laptop, but that hasn't been found yet.
