Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Trace-route / Antispoofing On Not Default Route

Jun 24, 2011

I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.

I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.

Reverse Trace Route?

Dec 29, 2011

I want to know the return path between my IP and a server. I know that trace route gets some information about the hops from my IP to a server (for example www.google.com) but this info is about the forward path. But I want to know what is the path from the server to my PC, what is the reverse path (return path)? What are the middle hops? In other word, I want to know where is the forward and reverse path when I ping a server? I can find the forward path using trace route, but what about the return path?

Protocols :: How To Identify Timed-out Route In A Trace

Jul 19, 2012

Have win7 system, cisco WIRED 1720 router, ~1.5mb frame relay via C&WPanama, nortons antivirus installed. IP config dump is at the bottom, but in this event, I don't think my problem is local.An important work-related chat quit working today, and I have narrowed down the issue to not being able to connect to the provider website from my current location. (I can connect via US proxy, but cannot run the java applet via the proxy, it seems it is still trying to go from here to there).

The site I am trying to reach is host7.parachat.com, IP 64.13.158.24

I can load this page (just a landing page comment) as well as their main pages via us proxy, but time out trying to load directly. Fiddler returns a 502 error, socket connection failed.

have tested on 3 machines (all on same router), then on a laptop which hadn't been booted or updated in over a year (also on same router). Trying to find a free wireless network to test with the laptop, but that hasn't been found yet.

Don't want to do this through the site-to-site.I have temporarily added a few acl on the outside interfaces.when i traceroute it only goes one hop.. Maybe thats the way it suppose to be? I need to know all the hops between the outside interfaces on the 5505 to the outside interface on the 5510.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASR 1001 - Trace Route / HSRP / VRF

Mar 24, 2013

when i make a trace route on an ASR 1001 router to 172.23.30.7 I get the following output:

VRF info: (vrf in name/id, vrf out name/id)
  1 192.168.99.192 0 msec
    192.168.99.191 1 msec
    192.168.99.192 0 msec
  2 172.23.30.243 1 msec 1 msec 1 msec
  3 172.23.30.7 1 msec 1 msec 1 msec

Is there a loop between 192.168.99.191 and .192 (this are two routers with hsrp .190) or is this normal behavior when using trace route on an asr 1001?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3825 ISR - Traffic Route From Switch Port To Router Port

Jun 5, 2013

I'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level.  I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other.  I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it.  This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports.  I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port.  It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere.  I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port.  However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.

It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.

Linux - Route/NAT Forwarding For One Port Only?

May 21, 2013

I have two linux machines(A and B) and a remote service. The service is listening on port 16000. The outgoing connection from machine A on port 16000 is blocked by a firewall, but on B it is not. I need to access the service from the A. So it will probably need to be routed(correct term?) through the B. I cannot modify the program which is accessing the service(so it will always try on port 16000).

I know there are a lot of tutorials on similar topics, but I don't know which one should I follow, because there are apparently many possibilities. I have full access to both machines. What is the best way to accomplish that? What should I execute on machine A and on machine B?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5505 - Port 80 Route Between Vlans

Apr 14, 2013

I have 2 Vlans with seperate networks and want to create a route between one server in vlan 465 to another server in vlan 436 via port 80.Vlan 465 has a ASA 5505 inside that IP address 89.254.12.35 will be initiating the connection to address 10.200.1.213.

-Vlan 465: server address 10.200.1.213
-Vlan 436: server address 89.254.12.35

However for extended security I would like to restrict the firewall opening to an IP to IP opening.

Cisco WAN :: 1700 - Route RDP Port Based Traffic To WAN Interface

Jun 11, 2013

this is my first time configuring a cisco router. For instance, a cisco router 1700 with 2 ethernet WICs and 1 LAN port. We have 2 ISPs one more stable than the other. We use an RDP session to an external host identified by lets say IP address 200.1.1.2 using ISP2 to get to this computer.   We use ISP1 for all the internet usage, web pages, youtube etc.  We are thinking of using this cisco router 1700 to make the packet filtering and routing of this RDP session to the correct ISP2 since we only have 1 NIC per computer on the LAN side.

The main idea would be:

                                                       | YES -----> ----------- then use  ISP2
LAN--------->  Are the packets RDP ?
                                                       | No-------->  ----------- then use ISP1

Does this can be achieved using packet filtering using extended ACLs and to be router from the lan interface to route rdp (port 3389) packets to ISP2 WAN interface?

Cisco Routers :: Route 2 Incoming IP-Addresses To WAN Port Of RV110W

Oct 12, 2011

Just  purchased a Cisco RV110W for our small business.  We were told this was  easy for us to use and secure enough for our small office and for our  travelling sales staff to access our website.

We  purchased 2 dedicated IP-addresses, 216.82.5.230 for access to one  server, and 216.82.5.231 for access to a second server (these  IP-Addresses given are just an example; not real).

These come into the single RV110W WAN port.  The two servers are plugged into 2 of the 4 LAN ports.

But  the WAN setup page only accepts one WAN IP-Address.  So when we put in  216.82.5.230, the outside world can HTTPS into one server, but we don't  know how to get them to HTTPS to the second server when the other staff  uses 216.82.5.231.

In  summary, how to use the RV110W admin panel to forward the  HTTPS/SSL traffic from 216.82.5.230 to one server (setup internally on  192.168.10.20), and the HTTPS/SSL traffic from 216.82.5.231 to the other  server (setup internally on 192.168.20.20 using the VLAN setup on this  router)?

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 4400 Adding Static Route For Service Port?

May 9, 2008

I am attempting to access the service port from a client pc on another network.

Service port = 10.100.2.1/16
Client IP = 10.1.1.10/16

I know you cannot put a default gateway on the service port, but the documentation says you can add a static route for remote management. So I tried...

config route add 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0 <gateway.ip>

It does not take the command and says something to the effect of. "ip address/netmask conflicts with the configured ip address of the service port"

Cisco Firewall :: Possible For 5505 To Route / Map Renaming Private IP Addresses Through Its External Port

Jul 25, 2011

I have purchased a subnet of 8 private IP addresses from my ISP. 109.x.x.128/29.The ISP has placed a juniper router within our data centre which is routing purely from 109.x.x.206/30 to 109.x.x.128/29 with the ip of fa0/1 set to .129.

I have linked a cisco 5505 to fa0/1 of the juniper from fa0/0 and configured its IP to .130. I have configured NAT to translate our client pool 192.168.16.x /24 address' to the internet.

Is it possible for the 5505 to route / map my remaing private IP addresses through its external port? I have tried creating a seperate VLAN for a DMZ for our servers to sit within but am returned with a subnetting error as VLAN for my external port is all ready configured within the same subnet.
