I have an E4200 and have added it to my network with a new static IP and DHCP and firewalls off.It runs off my cable modem and router (Virgin Media Superhub) that has DHCP.When I tell it to do a firmware update, traceroute or ping it fails, just wont do any of them.
View 9 RepliesI changed from a Linksys E4200 to a 5505 and when I use trace route, it doesn't return a DNS name for each hop. I can see the hops shown as asterisks. Do I have to add something to inspect for this to work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.
Trying to update it to the new smart Wifi but getting this error "Incorrect Image File".Yes Ive tried redownloading yes ive tried different browers and yes to unziping the file! and Yes Im downloading the correct version I even tried version 1 for the heck of it and still nothing.

I am waiting for half year. And I read the forum know the NAT though put perfromance of 1.0.01 is poor than that of 1.0.03 of E4200.Actually a bit disappoint to CISCO LINKSYS products. It is not value to cost high selling price with poor functions and performance.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter I updated my E4200 V1 with the 1.0.04 update I am unable to connect my WET610N to it with 802.11N. I can connect fine with 802.11G. I tried the Site Survey method of pairing them as well as manual. When it fails it goes through the minute timeout of trying and then Link Status is disconnected. I have anything from phones to laptops connect to the E4200 with wireless N, its just the WET610N that doesnt want to pair.
Before I was running the following:
E4200 V1 1.0.03
WET610N V1 1.0.05
Connection between them: Bridged, WPA2 Personal, 802.11N
After I was running:
E4200 V1 1.0.04
WET610N V1 1.0.05
Connection between them: Bridged, WPA2 Personal, 802.11G
Frameware version: 1.0.03.
Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.
I got a installation issue of cisco connect software. The installation keep downloading update and cannot process to next step. This "downloading update" is for cisco connect software update or router E4200 's firmware update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay so I have been using my E4200 router and WET610N bridges for a while now without any issues really until yesterday when I updated the firmware on the 4200 now none of my WET610N's (I have 2) can connect via wireless at all. At first I thought it was a a wireless issue but I have other devices that connect up just fine via wireless.I've made no changes to the router or the bridges before the firmware update.
If I hook the bridge directly to the router I can access it and configure it, but looking at the "Status" page, I see the bridge try and connect wirelessly but is quickly disconnected. Range isn't an issue as in my testing the bridge was 2 feet from the router.I've update the bridges to the latest firmware and have verified a 100 times that the settings on both my router and the bridges are set correctly (when the bridges are hooked up via network card).
I just updated Cisco software and my external hard drive is no longer recognized by Cisco. It is a Seagate drive that is listed on the Cisco tested - passed - approved list. It worked prior to this update. I have disconnected the drive. Reconnected it. Rebooted. Turned machine and router on and off and its still not recognized.

I'm using Linksys E4200 router. I can't seem to ping the static WAN IP (from internally or externally). All other connectivity seems to be fine. I can ping the routers internal IP, as well as the cable modem and other external IPs. But all port forwarding through the E4200 is failing.Should the default security/firewall setting allow port forwarding? Or do some settings need to change?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased this router a few days after its release, and I was very impressed with its functions. I came from a DD-WRT flashed router with all the bells and whistles, and the E4200 lacked some features but I felt it was a fare trade off for the GHz & dual band.All was well with all my settings (quite a few to name QOS,forwarded, etc)I also updated the firmware when it came available and re entered same settings.
Approx 3 months after use I had 0 WAN connection via eth0 or WIFI, when I logged into router I was pulling a Public IP from my ISP. I could ping from inside the router but no connection on any hosts, very strange. Powercycling Modem/Router yielded same results.. I then backed up my vast amount of settings, and did a 30/30/30 reset.. With no configs I had no issue browsing on any host on my network. So I restored from backup and the issue was back again..So I did another 30/30/30 reset. Then went and reentered the exact same settings as before and the issue was gone.
just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook.However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200. When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well.All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

I want to know the return path between my IP and a server. I know that trace route gets some information about the hops from my IP to a server (for example www.google.com) but this info is about the forward path. But I want to know what is the path from the server to my PC, what is the reverse path (return path)? What are the middle hops? In other word, I want to know where is the forward and reverse path when I ping a server? I can find the forward path using trace route, but what about the return path?

On the Linksys E4200, the Internet wired connection side, I gave static IP address which is in the same network range as that of LAP2.When tried to ping from LAP1 to LAP2, ping doesnot happen. Any settings by which I can ping from LAP1 to LAP2.
I have recently purchased a E4200 i have flashed it with the latest Firmware 1.0.03 and Hard Reset the Router so the Media issue was resolved i was having. After upgrading the firmware to the latest version my Nortel VPN IPSEC Client no longer will work. The tunnel is connected and it passes traffic for about 15 seconds then nothing. The connection remains connected but no traffic passes cant ping across tunnel. I have checked all the settings and VPN - IPSEC - Passthru is enabled. I have put the client in DMZ mode and tried that same thing.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have my Cisco E4200 set up with a 6rd tunnel. the tunnel seems to work fine for the most part. i can ping ipv6.google.com and get a response.however, i cannot ping the addresses of the IPv6 Tunnel ends from within my network. If i run a ping from outside the network, i can ping the IPv6 address of the server end, however, i cannot ping the E4200's end of the tunnel. is there a specific option that needs to be set? i have allowed ping so that my IPv4 address is pingable, am i missing something for IPv6?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI noticed some serious random ping spikes in online games and found that the connection between my Laptop and the E4200 is very very unstable. Sometimes it works perfectly fine but at other times my ping will spike each 5 seconds to three or even four digits and back to normal. I never get disconnected but playing is obviously not possible.
I ran several pingtests through pingtest.net and got everything from 15ms ping 3ms jitter to like 400 ping 300 jitter.
Eventually, I pinged the router (192.168.1.1) and got delays between 2ms and 300ms for both the 2.4 ghz and the 5ghz network. The 2.4ghz channels are fairly crowded but the signal is perfectly fine and stable. The 5ghz band is totally free therefore interference shouldn't be a problem i guess.
Have win7 system, cisco WIRED 1720 router, ~1.5mb frame relay via C&WPanama, nortons antivirus installed. We have a ASA 5505 and a 5510, that we are using site to site.I need to traceroute from the 5505-5510.. From the outside interfaces.. Don't want to do this through the site-to-site.I have temporarily added a few acl on the outside interfaces.when i traceroute it only goes one hop.. Maybe thats the way it suppose to be? I need to know all the hops between the outside interfaces on the 5505 to the outside interface on the 5510.

I have problem with icmp traceroute configuration. When I enabling icmp error inspection in global policy, my traceroute results through ASA 8.2.4 looks like this: My traceroute [v0.75]
icmp inspection and ttl decrement on ASA is enabled. Also I configured ACL on outside interface to permit ICMP completely.
I have set up three E4200 routers as wireless access points on our network. They each have a static ip and the same subnet mask and gateway that our pcs have. They also have a local address that I can connect to if wired straight into them.
I cannot ping or remote admin into any of them and I have enabled all the options to do so. The routers seem to work fine as WAPs, providing internet and network access.
I have a Linksys e4200 and a EnGenius EAP300. I setup new EnGenius AP to 198.162.1.5 and the Linksys is 198.162.1.1. The two devices are connected with Ethernet capble with a POE switch in the middle. Internet connection thru the Linksys works fine. However, the EnGenius does not connect to the Ineternet (Gateway is set to 198.162.1.1) Also when connected to the Linksys, I cannot ping the EnGenius.

I m using ospf between HO and Branches for two links. branch router are 2811 and HO router 3845. when i enable ospf at branch i get all branch route like HO router and a default route. My requirement is each branch get only HO but no other branch. I have no default route.

I am trying to update my WRT110 which has 1.0.04 firmware on it right now but when i try to update it toVer.1.0.05 all i get is this message.... i dont know what to do i never had a problem updating my older router's befor i had this one this is the first time im updating this one i tryed updating it on IE 8 RC1 & also Safari 4 but i get the same message . I've also tryed saving the firmware file in it's own folder still no luck try updating on my xp desktop & my laptop with vista with same message? is it a problem with linksys with the file on there website maybe?
