Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Could Ping But No Connection On Any Hosts

Nov 28, 2011

I purchased this router a few days after its release, and I was very impressed with its functions. I came from a DD-WRT flashed router with all the bells and whistles, and the E4200 lacked some features but I felt it was a fare trade off for the GHz & dual band. All was well with all my settings (quite a few to name QOS,forwarded, etc)I also updated the firmware when it came available and re entered same settings.

Approx 3 months after use I had 0 WAN connection via eth0 or WIFI, when I logged into router I  was pulling a Public IP from my ISP. I could ping from inside the router but no connection on any hosts, very strange. Powercycling Modem/Router yielded same results.. I then backed up my vast amount of settings, and did a 30/30/30 reset.. With no configs I had no issue browsing on any host on my network. So I restored from backup and the issue was back again..So I did another 30/30/30 reset. Then went and reentered the exact same settings as before and the issue was gone.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1841 - Unable To Ping Remote Gateway Or Hosts On Other Side Of Router

I am just setting up a simple scenario with a 1841. Server @ cannot ping or It can ping The router can, on the other hand, ping devices on both networks. This is just for testing routing theory so I don't know why hosts on either side of the network cannot ping each other.
I am only using the FastEthernet interfaces on Router 1841.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 / Can't Ping WAN IP

Feb 2, 2012

I'm using Linksys E4200 router.  I can't seem to ping the static WAN IP (from internally or externally).  All other connectivity seems to be fine.  I can ping the routers internal IP, as well as the cable modem and other external IPs.  But all port forwarding through the E4200 is failing.Should the default security/firewall setting allow port forwarding?  Or do some settings need to change?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Ping Windows Computers With New E4200 LAN / WLAN

Mar 18, 2012

just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook. However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200.  When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well. All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Ping To Router Very Unstable

Sep 8, 2011

I noticed some serious random ping spikes in online games and found that the connection between my Laptop and the E4200 is very very unstable. Sometimes it works perfectly fine but at other times my ping will spike each 5 seconds to three or even four digits and back to normal. I never get disconnected but playing is obviously not possible.
I ran several pingtests through and got everything from 15ms ping 3ms jitter to like 400 ping 300 jitter.
Eventually, I pinged the router ( and got delays between 2ms and 300ms for both the 2.4 ghz and the 5ghz network. The 2.4ghz channels are fairly crowded but the signal is perfectly fine and stable. The 5ghz band is totally free therefore interference shouldn't be a problem i guess.

1) The file transfer speeds are pathetic
2) In Wireless Security, if I set the Wireless Mode to disabled for the 2.4Ghz band, Windows shows me "Unsecured Network" even with 2.4Ghz disabled.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 / Unable To Access After Reset

Apr 18, 2012

I just bought an E4200 and it was working perfectly, very easy to install, all that it promises. Then I had an energy peak. For some reason, don't ask me why, I did RESET the router not thru the web nor thru Cisco Connect, but pushing the reset button at the back. I can't access the router anymore ! It keeps asking for a password that is never accepted. I have uninstalled cisco connect and tried again. Nothing. The router is not found. Keeps asking for a password. I tried everything: blan+admin, admin+admin, the password I used to have (provided at the cisco connect uninstall). It seems that the RESET never worked. The router is working thru cables, meaning when I can connect to the internet wired. But the router is never found wireless. How could I update the firmware if the router is not recognized (or if I don't have a username+password) ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unable To Open Few Websites Using E4200 On LAN

Been more than 2 years since I purchsed this router from US and has been working flawlessly till now. Lately I have been facing issues with few websites not opening when my laptop is connected to the router using a lan cable. Sites like (I get the download speed but when it needs to upload it is stuck there forever), [URL] is another which just does not open.
I tried opening these sites using e4200 wifi and everything works perfectly. I even updated the firmware to the latest 1.0.05 build 7 Aug 23, 2012 but still the same issue.
My router set to Automatic configuration - DHCP...
Also when I directly connect the internet cable to my laptop lan, everything opens without any issues.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 V2 Unable To Access Most Websites

May 24, 2012

I recently bought the E4200 v2. When I first installed, I ran the firmware update and then performed a hard reset (push reset button for 20 secs). I then began to enter all the PPPoE information and network settings into the new router (verified these settings with the existing WRT54GL router I'm current using and they all matched). I then disconnected the old router, and powered up the E4200. I was able to access the new router (, I could see all previously shared files/computers with the new router, but I could not access most websites - usually I got a timeout error, or they eventually loaded in 10x the usual speed. This was typical of both laptops - one wired, and one wireless.  My wireless handheld device could connect to the wireless network, and ran a test, and upload/download speeds were normal - but I could not access the internet from the device. When I switched back to the old router, everything worked perfectly again.  I have tried some suggestions on changing MTU values, but that did not seem to make any difference.
As a work-around, I have ended up keeping the WRT54GL as the main router and using the E4200 in bridged mode for wireless only (not what I ideally would like)..

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Unable To Access Shares?

Now when I attempt to add an additional share, the router lets me create it  but when I try to move access groups over from the available groups, the >> buttons are greyed out. The one working share has the admin and Everyone groups with access. Any additional share I create has the admin group in it by default, but I can't add any more groups. I am logged into the router as admin and logged into the pc as a local admin.  I am also unable to change the rights from my pc on a share (access denied).  I AM, however, able to map a drive to a new share successfully, but when I copy files over, a few minutes later the filenames are there but they show up as 0 byte files.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Wifi Mac Filter

Dec 7, 2011

It would be nice if there was a "Note" field next to each MAC field whereby you could specify what device the MAC belongs to. I have quite a few listed but recently I've gotten rid of the devices. I have to go through all my current devices, not them in another program, and then remove the ones that are no longer needed.
The Wireless Client List doesn't capture all the names so that's not what I'm looking for.
Also, it would be great if the "Note" would tie into the Parental Controls so that I know exactly what device I'm choosing. It currently lets you select from the Wireless Client List, but the list doesn't have all the Client Names populated.
So, one, is this feature available (or something similar) and two, if not, please take this into consideration as a useful feature for a new version down the road.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Wifi Is Not Working When Tv Turned On?

I am not sure how to set it up, so I connected it to E4200 which is located in another room using CAT6 flat cable and set it to "Bridge mode". But whenever I open the TV box, the wifi won't work, and when it's closed, it works. :s how weird is that. Are there any problems? The modem with wifi will always work either way I open/close the TV box, but the E4200 wifi will only work when I close the TV box. I asked my service provider about this and they tell me it's not their problem anymore.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Dropping Wifi Speed?

Jul 30, 2011

I recently bought an E4200 and noticed that the wireless speed keeps dropping as it stays connected. As soon as I power it on, my iPhone and notebook connect at 54Mb, but as they remain connected, the speed keeps dropping to 48, 36 and one morning, my phone was oscillating between 5 and 11. The iPhone was almost at the same spot, and the signal was around 85~95%. On my 3 year old DIR-300, the speed don't change at all, and it's in a place where I can see around 15 connections. On the E4200 I can only see 2 other networks.I've already tried switching channels, fixed and auto channel, updating firmware and a few other common configurations. At first, I thought it was my repeater, but I turned it off and it didn't work. Turn my cordless phone off didn't change it also.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Disappointing Wifi Speeds With E4200?

May 6, 2011

I just got an e4200 and I'm haviong very disappointing wireless speeds. My network is setup as follows
powerline-----------wireless router ----------- laptop (using USB adapter Linksys AES1000, Intel bng internal, Belkin adapter)
If I plug into the back of the e4200 I can download at roughly the raw speed of the powerline 7 MBps. So I know the powerline connection is just fine and the routing function of the e4200 is just fine. When I use my laptop my speeds are wildly variable on both 2.4 and 5 ghz. With a clear line of sight to the router (maybe 7 feet away) they seem to hover around 1.5 MBps but have reached as high as 5.5 MBps twice. Using my much cheap older Buffalo router I routinely get speeds in the 4.5 MBps range which I would consider acceptable (although it has other, separate issues). I have followed all of the advice I can find on the forums. The range is also pretty terrible. If I'm 20 feet away and no longer have a clear line of site to the router I will frequenly have almost no signal and miserably slow download speeds in the kbps.I have made sure that I am using wpa2 with AES, I have changed my MTU to 1365, I have updated the firmware to the one released in March, and I have explored setting different channels on the router to no avail. I also contacted tech support which I'm only marginally sure understood that I was talking about the LAN connection and not the internet.
