I recently acquired an E4200 Linksys router.Is it possible to connect to it using telnet (from LAN)? For example I would like to start a ping command directly from the router.I tried to telnet using command line shell from Windows and it failed to connect on port 23.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Linksys E4200 router. I can't seem to ping the static WAN IP (from internally or externally). All other connectivity seems to be fine. I can ping the routers internal IP, as well as the cable modem and other external IPs. But all port forwarding through the E4200 is failing.Should the default security/firewall setting allow port forwarding? Or do some settings need to change?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased this router a few days after its release, and I was very impressed with its functions. I came from a DD-WRT flashed router with all the bells and whistles, and the E4200 lacked some features but I felt it was a fare trade off for the GHz & dual band.All was well with all my settings (quite a few to name QOS,forwarded, etc)I also updated the firmware when it came available and re entered same settings.
Approx 3 months after use I had 0 WAN connection via eth0 or WIFI, when I logged into router I was pulling a Public IP from my ISP. I could ping from inside the router but no connection on any hosts, very strange. Powercycling Modem/Router yielded same results.. I then backed up my vast amount of settings, and did a 30/30/30 reset.. With no configs I had no issue browsing on any host on my network. So I restored from backup and the issue was back again..So I did another 30/30/30 reset. Then went and reentered the exact same settings as before and the issue was gone.
I have an E4200 and have added it to my network with a new static IP and DHCP and firewalls off.It runs off my cable modem and router (Virgin Media Superhub) that has DHCP.When I tell it to do a firmware update, traceroute or ping it fails, just wont do any of them.

Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook.However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200. When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well.All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

I am using Linksys E4200 wireless router. I connected two machines, this way.

On the Linksys E4200, the Internet wired connection side, I gave static IP address which is in the same network range as that of LAP2.When tried to ping from LAP1 to LAP2, ping doesnot happen. Any settings by which I can ping from LAP1 to LAP2.
I have recently purchased a E4200 i have flashed it with the latest Firmware 1.0.03 and Hard Reset the Router so the Media issue was resolved i was having. After upgrading the firmware to the latest version my Nortel VPN IPSEC Client no longer will work. The tunnel is connected and it passes traffic for about 15 seconds then nothing. The connection remains connected but no traffic passes cant ping across tunnel. I have checked all the settings and VPN - IPSEC - Passthru is enabled. I have put the client in DMZ mode and tried that same thing.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have my Cisco E4200 set up with a 6rd tunnel. the tunnel seems to work fine for the most part. i can ping ipv6.google.com and get a response.however, i cannot ping the addresses of the IPv6 Tunnel ends from within my network. If i run a ping from outside the network, i can ping the IPv6 address of the server end, however, i cannot ping the E4200's end of the tunnel. is there a specific option that needs to be set? i have allowed ping so that my IPv4 address is pingable, am i missing something for IPv6?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI noticed some serious random ping spikes in online games and found that the connection between my Laptop and the E4200 is very very unstable. Sometimes it works perfectly fine but at other times my ping will spike each 5 seconds to three or even four digits and back to normal. I never get disconnected but playing is obviously not possible.
I ran several pingtests through pingtest.net and got everything from 15ms ping 3ms jitter to like 400 ping 300 jitter.
Eventually, I pinged the router (192.168.1.1) and got delays between 2ms and 300ms for both the 2.4 ghz and the 5ghz network. The 2.4ghz channels are fairly crowded but the signal is perfectly fine and stable. The 5ghz band is totally free therefore interference shouldn't be a problem i guess.
I have set up three E4200 routers as wireless access points on our network. They each have a static ip and the same subnet mask and gateway that our pcs have. They also have a local address that I can connect to if wired straight into them.
I cannot ping or remote admin into any of them and I have enabled all the options to do so. The routers seem to work fine as WAPs, providing internet and network access.

If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.

I recently purchased the router and got the CCC firmware on. It works fine for a while but then I can't connect to the router using my PC unless I log using the remote credentials. Generally if this were the case I wouldn't care but when I do it that way I can't run the speed test. After I reboot the router it works fine again, for a while.
For some reason, it doesn't detect my PC as being connected directly although my PC is connected by wire, directly to the router.
I I use a Linksys E3000 router. Sometimes when I look at the network map I see a device called "Unknown." It appears as though the two notebooks sometime are going through this device to access the Linksys E3000. (I've checked when both notebooks are on and I can determine what devices are connecting directly to the router and what devices are going through this unknown device.) Is there any way to determine what this unknown device is?

After putting this basic config on, I plugged it into a small unmanaged switch, changed my laptop's IP and plugged it in the switch also. I can't ping the router from the laptop and vice versa. This is the second switch I've tried this with, so it must be.The first switch, I installed at location, connected a cisco cable to it and a local server, so i could remote in and finish configuration. In that scenario, I had plugged the switch into a managed switch and had the same result as I'm getting now--can't ping IP addresses (can't ping the switch's IP, not can it ping local IPs).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys e4200 and a EnGenius EAP300. I setup new EnGenius AP to 198.162.1.5 and the Linksys is 198.162.1.1. The two devices are connected with Ethernet capble with a POE switch in the middle. Internet connection thru the Linksys works fine. However, the EnGenius does not connect to the Ineternet (Gateway is set to 198.162.1.1) Also when connected to the Linksys, I cannot ping the EnGenius.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.

I made a big mistake and updated my EA6500 with the wrong firmware.I selected "ver.1.1.38.149770" which I shouldn't have done since it's for the the EA6700 which i read aftwerwards....how stupid can one be Anyway, the device is not started up as it should.I'm able to use it as a cabled router but it's not sending out any wireless signal and the led light is blinking.A factory reset obviously didn't work since the firmware was wrong.So, my question is if it's possible to revert to an older firmware using the USB port?Or for example push a firmware using an ADB command if it's possible to connect using a cable?Or in some other way?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
