Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Doesn't Start Up After New Firmware Update
Mar 27, 2013
I made a big mistake and updated my EA6500 with the wrong firmware.I selected "ver.1.1.38.149770" which I shouldn't have done since it's for the the EA6700 which i read aftwerwards....how stupid can one be Anyway, the device is not started up as it should.I'm able to use it as a cabled router but it's not sending out any wireless signal and the led light is blinking.A factory reset obviously didn't work since the firmware was wrong. So, my question is if it's possible to revert to an older firmware using the USB port?Or for example push a firmware using an ADB command if it's possible to connect using a cable?Or in some other way?
an EA6500 router that has intermmitent connectivity issues. Went into the configuration page and saw he was a couple versions behind on firmware. Used the online update option, firmware downloaded and then indicated that router would reboot. Did not power off router or leave the configuration web page. Watched light go out on router and come back on, but the spinning wait icon never went away after 5 minutes. Powered off and on and was back at the same point with the old firmware still. Downloaded the firmware to local drive and applied from local file, but same results. Waited 10 minutes this time. Surely it doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the router to reboot itself from a firmware flash?
Gave up on trying to update firmware and configured wifi settings. Left friend's house and then got a message about 15 minutes later that the router had locked up again. If he pulls power for 2 minutes it will then work for another short period of time.
Is there anything that can be done to try and restore normal operation to this particular router, or are these all signs of a hardware failure and the unit should just be replaced?
I've been trying to port forward my WRT54G2 router.I've tried to update the Firmware, use another computer or another browser. But it still doesn't work!
We just installed our EA6500 Smart Wi-Fi router and it works great! All admin set up, wired pc connected, wireless notebooks connected, wifi printer connected, and 2 game consoles connected. All work fine!BUT, the router is located here on my desk by the wired pc, cpu, & speakers and we can hear when a software download, software update, or even a router speed test is conducted! What a record sounded like when played at too fast a speed, that is what we are hearing: static and fast high pitched sounds.Tried moving our speaker further away from the router but there is only so far it can be moved.
My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
I recently swapped a EA4500 for an EA6500 and have been experiencing intermittent Internet connection issues, specifically periodic disconnects (as some other users have reported). The router is connected to a Motorola SB6121 Cable Modem with Comcast as the cable provider. I contacted Comcast and they specify 1500 as the MTU size. With the Router set to Auto, I experience the periodic disconnects. When the MTU is manually set, I still experience the periodic disconnects, and I noticed that a ping test specifying the packet size with the -l switch results in a fragmented packet and is only resolved when the ping packet size is reduced by 28 bytes. Thus, it appears that the MTU specified on the router fragments all packets of that size and up to 27 bytes less than the MTU setting. For example, with the MTU set to 1500, all packets 1473 or larger are fragmented; with the MTU at 1444, all packets 1417 or larger are fragmented. I believe there is a bug in the current firmware, which I have installed on this router as version 1.1.27.141816. Regardless, even with the router set to Auto, the correct packet size is not properly detected and di
I still don't think the IOT Cable Modem fix did the trick because the EA6500 seems more unstable then it was before.... now every few hours it loses sync with my cable modem and I have to reboot the router for it to function normally.
Attempting to get EA6500 working with TWC Motorola Surfboard SBV5220 modem, which has been working just fine for the last 2 years with a Linksys E3000 router. DHCP client in the EA6500 either doesn't ask for an IP address from the cable modem or the modem just isn't supplying one. With the E3000, you could see the IP address assigned by the cable modem and the primary and secondary DNS server addresses provided, and if the DHCP request didn't work, these addresses would be all zeroes. But, with the EA6500, I can't find an equivalent screen that shows these assignments, or zeroes when the DHCP request fails.
Noticed this AM that a new firmware was releaesed to my EA6500!! Very surprised to find it Monday AM. I went ahead & updated my firmware but lost connectivity to my Comcast cable modem. I was leaving for work so I had to pull the router & revert back to my original Linksys router.zBig storm heading my way, figured the wifw ywould need internet to track Hurricane Sandy. Any others have a new firmware waiting for install this AM? Keeping my fingers corossed on this firmware upgrade. I'm hoping it solves the device map issue.
In the EA6500 Device Tab of the connected devices all the information should be considered as wrong or incomplete. The router and all devices set to static ip addresses work fine but you should use another information source as to what and where devices are connected on your network. Cisco says they are aware of the bug and are working on a firmware update. Also, reported to Cisco, when and if using Windows 8 and IE 10 the restore function does not respond with the IE 10. Works fine in Chrome and earlier Internet explorer.
Bugs are to be expected in any new device, but time will tell as to how fast Cisco fixes these issues and timely releases firmware updates to us their consumers. The connected device tab information bug needs a quick fix because anyone relying on the information would be working to connect devices that are already on the network or maybe listed with the wrong mac or ip address.
I am trying to update my WRT110 which has 1.0.04 firmware on it right now but when i try to update it toVer.1.0.05 all i get is this message.... i dont know what to do i never had a problem updating my older router's befor i had this one this is the first time im updating this one i tryed updating it on IE 8 RC1 & also Safari 4 but i get the same message . I go to the support page for the WRT54G routers. I set the version number to version 2 and there is no firmware file to download. For every other version there is a firmware file to download but not for version 2. Where can I get the latest firmware for my router.
I found this router still in box and am now using it. I want to update the firmware because i am having issues with it. it has what i assume is the original Firmware 1.00.1. The downloads for this router are no longer available. Why?
Just got a WRT120N and went online to get the most recent firmware and when i performed the upgrade it's gets about 3/4 of the way completed before it just stalls and start screen blinking like it's caught up or something. I using a modem, wrt120n router connection with a Brand New Sony Vaio laptop. I was able to upgrade my old WRT54G V5 router but can't seem to get the new router to update.
I've got an older SRX200 that is starting to "disconnect" frequently (loss of wireless connectivity). I've gone to the Linksys website to download a firmware update, as a potential fix, but the website says no firmware is available. The current version I'm using is 1.01.18.

I have a Linksys E1000 with Firmware Version: 2.1.02 I am having a very hard time searching to see if there is a newer Firmware Version out for this model. If there is any new Firmware update?
I am waiting for half year. And I read the forum know the NAT though put perfromance of 1.0.01 is poor than that of 1.0.03 of E4200.Actually a bit disappoint to CISCO LINKSYS products. It is not value to cost high selling price with poor functions and performance.
Recently, the wrt310nv2-cc mostly got lost in wireless connection, so I would like to update the firmware, but I download the latest firmware, it could not flashed, which version should I use?
I upgraded my WRT54G ver. 2 with the latest linksys firmware update (4.30.5). My previous firmware was 2. something. After the process i lost internet connection and i can't no longer access my router. I tried to reset the router to factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, but nothing happened. I also turned everything off and on again, but still nothing happened.
I've tried downloading the binary file and on both a mac and pc and it's not working. On the mac it looks like a normal zip file but when I click to "unzip" it it just creates another zip file. When I download it on a pc it doesn't even look like a zip it's just a blank white square. Both computers have always downloaded zips fine, so I'm thinking it maybe is a problem with the file?
I recently updated the firmware in my WRT160N V3.Ever since, the wireless signal is intermittent. It worked all day yesterday, and now today it doesn't connect at all.I can't remember exactly the settings I used to have before updating the firmware, should have written them down. From looking at articles on this site, I have the following settings:
MTU Manual 1492 MAC Adress enabled Network Mode: Mixed Channel Width 20MHz Channel: 11
I just purchased 3 E4200v2 routers. As I am prepping them to install, I am attempting to update the firmware from 2.0.26 -> 2.0.37. I downloaded the zip file from the Cisco support site and when unzipped the file is named FW_E4200_2.0.37.131047.SSA. When I attempt to do a manual update from the Admin page, I imediately get an image file is incorrect error.
I've downloaded the file a total of three times on 2 separate networks and have tried three different browsers to attempt the update, all with the same error. The support chat sessions have proven worthless, they seem very scripted and the last one kept trying to sell me a support contract...
I want to stay with the Classic firmware, even though it is lacking current bug fixes. Does anyone have a "good" copy of the 131047 firmware? It appears to me that the one on the Cisco site is broken.
I have been having numerous issues with my router dropping both my wired and wireless connection multiple times an hour. I checked the Cisco website for the firmware update and it says the download is no longer available. I am on firmware 1.02.06. Does someone have a newer version? I'm hoping a firmware update will resolve this issue.
I am needing to update the firmware for my router. befw1154 version 4. I went to the download section of the linksys website, and it does show that there is an update there, but I have read in alot of places that the update downloads are in a zip file. WEll it definately wasnt in a zip file, and all it did was download a strange file and there was nothing to install or anything. My router is still on the blitz, and going down every few minutes and I am having to restart just to have it go down again. firmware update for this router?
I have wirless router WRT54G ver.2. and I had firmware 2.0 So I downloaded new firmware From Here and did exactly as in instruction.
After update went successful I unplaged my router for 30 seconds but it's not working. I mean it's flashes and everything but can't access it and it is not broadcasting. and whats most interesting, reset buttom is not working
Want can I do? can I access it with some other way and reinstall firmware?
