Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Allow VPN Connection / No Traffic Passes Can't Ping Across Tunnel

Oct 28, 2011

I have recently purchased a E4200 i have flashed it with the latest Firmware 1.0.03 and Hard Reset the Router so the Media issue was resolved i was having. After upgrading the firmware to the latest version my Nortel VPN IPSEC Client no longer will work. The tunnel is connected and it passes traffic for about 15 seconds then nothing.  The connection remains connected but no traffic passes cant ping across tunnel.  I have checked all the settings and VPN - IPSEC - Passthru is enabled.   I have put the client in DMZ mode and tried that same thing.

Cisco VPN :: 3005 / L2L Tunnel Gets Built And Passes Traffic Then Stops Passing?

Aug 4, 2011

I have created an L2L tunnel between my self and a 3rd party. I am using a Cisco ASA 5520 and the other end is using a Cisco 3005 VPN concentrator. The tunnel will get established and pass traffic both ways for a little while, it varies, sometimes 1 hour or last time we built it it was working for 17 hours, but at some point my ASA will stop transmitting but it will still be receiving packets. These errors start to show up when I look at the traffic going through my ASA interfaces:

713042       IKE Initiator unable to find policy: Intf Outside, Src: 192.168.xx.16, Dst: 10.1.xx.30

Then when I try to ping their hosts .30 and .27 I get:

713041          Group = 68.23.xx.xx, IP = 68.23.xx.xx, IKE Initiator: New Phase 2, Intf private, IKE Peer 68.23.xx.xx  local Proxy Address 192.168.xx.16, remote Proxy Address 10.1.xx.30,  Crypto map (Outside_map)
713041          Group = 68.23.xx.xx, IP = 68.23.xx.xx, IKE Initiator: New Phase 2, Intf private, IKE Peer 68.23.xx.xx  local Proxy Address 192.168.xx.16, remote Proxy Address 10.1.xx.27,  Crypto map (Outside_map)
713050          Group = 68.23.xx.xx, IP = 68.23.xx.xx, Connection terminated for peer 68.23.xx.xx.  Reason: Peer Terminate  Remote Proxy 10.1.xx.27, Local Proxy 192.168.xx.16

When I first configured this tunnel it was with 3DES and SHA for phase 1 & 2, but when the tunnel would come up  my phase 1 would negotiate to an MD5 hash, even though I specifically entered SHA, so me and the 3rd party decided to bring all the hashes for phase 1 & 2 down to MD5, and that was when it was up for the longest, but the problem still came back eventually. My ASA config posted below:

ASA Version 8.2(3)
name 192.168.xx.16 Server description  Server
name 10.1.xx.27 XYZ_01
name 10.1.xx.28 XYZ_02

i have my Cisco E4200 set up with a 6rd tunnel. the tunnel seems to work fine for the most part. i can ping ipv6.google.com and get a response.however, i cannot ping the addresses of the IPv6 Tunnel ends from within my network. If i run a ping from outside the network, i can ping the IPv6 address of the server end, however, i cannot ping the E4200's end of the tunnel. is there a specific option that needs to be set? i have allowed ping so that my IPv4 address is pingable, am i missing something for IPv6?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Could Ping But No Connection On Any Hosts

Nov 28, 2011

I purchased this router a few days after its release, and I was very impressed with its functions. I came from a DD-WRT flashed router with all the bells and whistles, and the E4200 lacked some features but I felt it was a fare trade off for the GHz & dual band. All was well with all my settings (quite a few to name QOS,forwarded, etc)I also updated the firmware when it came available and re entered same settings.

Approx 3 months after use I had 0 WAN connection via eth0 or WIFI, when I logged into router I  was pulling a Public IP from my ISP. I could ping from inside the router but no connection on any hosts, very strange. Powercycling Modem/Router yielded same results.. I then backed up my vast amount of settings, and did a 30/30/30 reset.. With no configs I had no issue browsing on any host on my network. So I restored from backup and the issue was back again..So I did another 30/30/30 reset. Then went and reentered the exact same settings as before and the issue was gone.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 / Can't Ping WAN IP

Feb 2, 2012

I'm using Linksys E4200 router.  I can't seem to ping the static WAN IP (from internally or externally).  All other connectivity seems to be fine.  I can ping the routers internal IP, as well as the cable modem and other external IPs.  But all port forwarding through the E4200 is failing.Should the default security/firewall setting allow port forwarding?  Or do some settings need to change?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Ping Windows Computers With New E4200 LAN / WLAN

Mar 18, 2012

just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook. However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200.  When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well. All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Ping To Router Very Unstable

Sep 8, 2011

I noticed some serious random ping spikes in online games and found that the connection between my Laptop and the E4200 is very very unstable. Sometimes it works perfectly fine but at other times my ping will spike each 5 seconds to three or even four digits and back to normal. I never get disconnected but playing is obviously not possible.

I ran several pingtests through pingtest.net and got everything from 15ms ping 3ms jitter to like 400 ping 300 jitter.

Eventually, I pinged the router (192.168.1.1) and got delays between 2ms and 300ms for both the 2.4 ghz and the 5ghz network. The 2.4ghz channels are fairly crowded but the signal is perfectly fine and stable. The 5ghz band is totally free therefore interference shouldn't be a problem i guess.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Stopped Allowing Traffic Through Ports Completely

Apr 24, 2013

I posted my complaint on Amazon.com recently.  My E4200 router stopped allowing traffic through ports completely.  I was able to unplug the power and allow the router to cool, and the router would work for a while then stop after about 10 minutes.  I assume that the unit was overheating, but I do not have the equipment of a test facility.I bought a Belkin AC 1200 router which is a bit of an upgrade from Amazon.com.  I do not think that there is anything that Linksys can do for me as my warranty expired.  I just thought that when I spent what was to me a lot of money the router should have lasted longer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Block Traffic At Certain Times Uses Both Parental Controls / Internet Access Polices

Oct 21, 2011

I have configured my e4200 to block traffic at certian times uses both the Parental Controls and the Intenet Access Polices.  Neither one seems to work though.  [code] I have the same MAC addresses specified in each rule.  Initally I had only the first two rules.  Those didn't work, so I added rule 3 and 4 (they do the same thing as rules 1 and 2 but from the opposite direction).  There are no compliaints, but they don't stop any traffic.

I started with the Parental Controls, they didn't work either.  The page in there that lets you pick which machines you want to block seemed next to worthless.  I have about four rows listed as "Network Device."  REALLY LAME!  As the MAC addresses are accesible and these weren't working I went to the IAP.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Maintaining Connection With E4200v2 And 6rd Tunnel

Nov 25, 2012

I'm having trouble maintaining a 6rd connection with E4200v2 and the 6rd tunnel.  When the 6rd is first setup, IPv6 works perfectly on all my devices.  But that only lasts for a few hours.  My windows xp computers and iphone cannot get an IPv6 connection/address after a few hours.  And then hours turn to days with no IPv6 connection.  The router says it's got an IPv6 address but I'm not able to connect any devices to any ipv6 sites and/or ipv6 test sites (ipv6 tests fail).  IPv4 always works.  There's no problem with IPv4.

So I'm wondering if Cisco tested these routers for a couple hours but never did any long term tests?  Or maybe the problem is with AT&T?  It would be too big of a coincidence for it to happen on several windows computers and apple devices at the same time to be a device problem.  It's failed the IPv6 tests with friend's ipads and Windows 7 computers also. This issue has occurred on all versions of cloud and classic firmware including the latest 2.1.39.145204.  The only way to get IPv6 back working again is to power cycle the DSL modem (in bridge mode) and E4200v2.  It doesn't matter if the 6rd is configured to automatic or manual using AT&T's published BR settings.  Same result.  IPv6 lasts for a few hours. And it doesn't matter if the modem is in bridge mode, or if I configure Lan-to-Wan or L-W with IP pass through.....same result.

How To Tunnel HTTP Traffic In VPN Based Connection

Mar 1, 2011

I have Site(s) Ani....i=1,..10 sites which communicate with site B to access a website/application. That's simple enough. However, the traffic is http well we primarily don't need https on ipsec tunnel right?. But since attacks related to eavesdropping of traffic come a real reality once it gets terminated by the ipsec device on both side.I have two options either to purchase a third-party ssl certificate to encrypt the traffic between two nodes or use a custom made one.I don't want to use a custom made one because this make the browser prompt an ugly untrusted certificate message; its ugly not from security perspective but for clients inconvenience and assuring users confidence in our systems is a critical issue for us. ?

a) How its possible to remove ugly certifcate message from user screen? Does the company need to register its certificate to some kind of CA body? or what ...

b) Due to some tcp acceleration issues, ssl traffic slows down the traffic between the nodes so we only require the encryption to stand just during the initial handshake when the username and password are being validated ; after that we want to revert back to http?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Way To Get USB Support For Connection

Nov 7, 2011

The web site says that the E4200 has a USB port to connect USB drives and printers.  That sounded to me like multiple devices could be added.  It says nothing about only being able to connect one.  Since I have 3 USB drives and 2 USB printers, that sounded great.   Setting it up, it seems that this port will not use a HUB, and can only be used for one USB device.  How can that be?  That is so limiting as to be nearly useless.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Xbox Lost Connection?

Dec 27, 2011

The problem: running a standard single band 2.4gz BT homehub. When using my xbox and wireless headset (razer chimeara) the xbox loses connection. When i tuen the headset off i no longer lose connection. This suggests to me that the headset is simply emitting on the same frequency and bullying the connection, thus the xbox disconnects I have purchased the wireless N adapter to allow the xbox to run on the 2.4 or 5ghz band. I am now looking for a duel band router to allow my xbox to connect to the 5gz band and hopefully this will rectify my interference issue with the headset. I have been lookijg at the e4200 as this supports seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz band, so the xbox can run on the 5ghz and the intererence from the 2.4ghz headset should subside - do you think this would work? Also, with the single ssid duel band routers, where 2.4/5gjz share the same ssid - how would my wireless N devices know to run on the 5ghz and not the 2.4?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Dropping Connection After Some Time

I bought a e4200 router about 3 weeks ago and after a power outage it decided it didnt like being connected to the internet anymore. So i got on the phone with cisco they determined the router was no good, mind you my laptop would connect wired. So they sent me a "refurbished" one, so i set it up. The new setup was wonky because it said the same message "Your connected to your router but..." then after trying to get the connection its self and failing it came up with "congratulations you are now connected to the internet". That lasted 3hrs and 45mins then died, so i went upstairs to power cycle it, it decided to connect with the old settings. That lased 25mins then died, so i reset it and reconfigured the router. Wouldnt connect, i checked my mac address and it was using my wireless one and kept turning on my wireless connection durring the install. So i cloned my wired mac address and got the internet for roughly an hour... then it died. So i reset it again and kept the wifi off got it going and decided to go to sleep. I wake up and its still working after 8hrs, i go down stairs with my tablet and i dies again. This time it refuses to reconnect, refuses to reset back up just doesnt want to work.
