Linksys E4200 Can't Ping New Access Point
Jul 4, 2012
I have a Linksys e4200 and a EnGenius EAP300. I setup new EnGenius AP to 198.162.1.5 and the Linksys is 198.162.1.1. The two devices are connected with Ethernet capble with a POE switch in the middle. Internet connection thru the Linksys works fine. However, the EnGenius does not connect to the Ineternet (Gateway is set to 198.162.1.1) Also when connected to the Linksys, I cannot ping the EnGenius.

I am trying to find an effective way to extend the wireless signal across our home. I have tried various different solutions. Currently, I have an e4200 primary router that is cascaded with two additional e1500 routers that have been configured as access points. The Linksys support team hosted my computer and configured the devices. The e1500 routers are connected via ethernet wires running through the walls. And, this seems to be working well. Here's my question. The e1500 routers are configured with different SSID names, which Linksys advised was required to avoid conflicts in communications from the three router devices. Is there any way to configure this set up or something similar so that the entire wireless network has the same SSID and is seamless. In the current configuration, I have to specifically connect to the primary router or one of the two access points.

I have broadband internet coming into 1 room of my home. The internet goes through a router I have set up, its a Linksys WRT54G2 (router #1), Firmware version 1.0.04. Everything on this works fine, I'm able to get my TV and laptop in a different room to access the router wirelessly without any inconvenience. In another room I have a regular desktop computer which I would like to get internet on. As well as other devices, so I purchased another router, this time a Linksys E4200 (router #2) in hopes of turning it into an access point. Now I've set up LAN's in the past, using the actual cable plugged into the second router, problem is in this scenario I can't run a cable over to router #2. Both computers use Windows 7. Both router's drivers and firmware have been updated on the Linksys page, all my Windows drivers are updated, etc. I checked other forums for similar questions and although there are some, they date back to 2009 as well as Google which has some websites dating back to 2006! While useful, I wasn't able to find something that details how to solve my problem with my specific setup. I've already gone into router #2 and changed the router's IP to 192.168.1.2 and also turned DHCP off, problem is, once I take that router off into the other room, it doesnt connect to primary network or allow devices to even "see" router #2.

I have just bought a E4200 and updated to latest FW version 1.0.02-Build13 It works very well for me so far But in the repote part of my home, the signal is too weak :-(
I have a WAP54G (HW-rev-2), which I would like to use to expand my wireless range, but so far I have not been able to get a setup where I can see the wireless coverage expanded. I have placed the WAP54G inside the wireless coverage range of the E4200 with good signal level.
I have tried various setup combinations and searched articles, but so far I have not been able to get this working as expected..
Before I spend more hours on this or decide to dump the WAP54G, I would like to know if this setup is at all possible with these components, - and of course if there are any hints to get this working ?

I have spent most of the weekend trying to get this router to act as a proper Access Point.
When it does work (Stay connected) speeds and latency are rotten. If I go back to Routing Mode this thing kicks butt, but I isolate all devices attached to a different subnet and trying to set up proper routes has proved imposable. Firmware 1.0.2 r 13
The online help stated to connect to the "internet interface" when in Bridge Mode DHCP Server Is not broadcasting to on the wireless or wired interfaces.
If I used the wired interface as the uplink I can broadcast the DHCP to any device on wired but again nothing to the Wireless. When I "Show Routing Table" I see two static routes pointing to the ATT router for the Wired/Wireless Interfaces.. 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 (my Gateway) Wired/Wireless (my Gateway) 255.255.255.0 0.0.0. Wired/Wireless
AP mode should only be working in Broadcast. By connecting the Wired Interfaces alone up to my switched network should not use the router at all. If you force all traffic to my router all traffic has to be inspected by the firewall You create a bottleneck my router interface is 10/100.
ATT 2 Wire Gateway/Router with pinholes. 10/100/1000 Non managed 24 port Switch Network. Server infrastructure serving DNS/DHCP.
I decided to buy this after reading it offered Bridge/Access Point mode instead of getting the WAP610 because I wanted to have the option to change to routing mode or AP mode. Since my ATT Uverse Router Wireless is “g” it takes forever to transfer files to and from my servers.

I have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system. I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building. It works fine, but I can no longer log on to the unit using its' IP address 192.168.1.1. The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process. Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router? I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.

I purchased Linksys (Cisco) EA2700. For the moment it is being used as an access point for a wireless network (WLAN) and an Ethernet switch. 4 laptops are being connected to it through the wireless network, the wire connects one computer and a separate ADSL modem (it is used for accessing Internet). As a result minimal ping to any of the devices in wireless network is 8 ms – the best result and sometimes rises to 20 ms. Consequently when working with local network resources one suffers from speed decrease. Ping to the access point through the wire varies from 1 to 8 ms. These delays are quite strange as even on cheaper routers ping does not rise above 2 ms (usually <1ms). Is it normal for the device?

I bought two E4200s with the intent of using the second as a wireless access point to maximize coverage throughout my house. I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.
Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?

I am looking form accesspoint for home network. I do not need router and usb functionality, I have this already in my linux server. I need only wifi accesspoint with 2 bands and 300Mbps bandwith. Is there a big difference between E4200 or E3200 or E2500? I know that E4200 supports 450Mbps, but I am not planning to buy new devices which could go faster than 300Mbps. Beside of technical parameters in technical specyfication is there a difference in wifi bandwith or tranmission between wifi and cable network?

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

Ive been struggling with this issue for a week now with an 877w (now with andvanced ip ios) in short my wireless network consists of
The internal dot11 sibinterface 0.11 radio (IP Address 10.0.1.1) which on bridge group 1 (IP Address 10.0.0.10) The SSID for the radio is on vlan 11 which has no ip address.
This works i can ping the internal network and internet
The guest dot11 sibinterface 0.10 radio (IP Address 10.0.3.1) which on bridge group 2 (IP Address 10.0.2.1) The SSID for the radio is on vlan 10 which has no ip address.
This dosnt work i get no no recived packets on the clients network stats and i cant ping any name servers or the radio ip address. The client is listed as being successfully accosated with the show dot11 assoc commmand
Ive tried taking the guest wireless and creating a new vlan for it (so its not on the same vlan as the tmg firewall interface) so that i have only the dot11 radio and vlan 12 on brige group 2 but the same thing happens no traffic on the guest vlan.
Ive turned off all authentication while testing this and the wireless network is currently in open mode until its fixed ive also only configured whats neccessry to test the wireless connectivity (no radius etc) that will be added later, Im also not using dhcp yet and the client is configured to the apporprite adderess staticly ie 10.0.1.1 10.0.3.2 its not a dhcp issue

I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

I'm using Linksys E4200 router. I can't seem to ping the static WAN IP (from internally or externally). All other connectivity seems to be fine. I can ping the routers internal IP, as well as the cable modem and other external IPs. But all port forwarding through the E4200 is failing.Should the default security/firewall setting allow port forwarding? Or do some settings need to change?

I'm using a WRT120N and have had no problems connecting most wireless devices, but a Nintendo DS and DSi owned by my family are unable to connect to the access point. My wireless security mode is disabled, network mode is set to mixed, SSID is the same as on the DS/DSi, Channel width is 20Mhz only, Standard channel is set to 6, but I tried using channel 1 and 11 without success, SSID broadcast is enabled.
I've tried every work-about I could find and always get the 51300 error code, and am at a loss as to what else I can try to get the devices to connect to the access point.

I purchased this router a few days after its release, and I was very impressed with its functions. I came from a DD-WRT flashed router with all the bells and whistles, and the E4200 lacked some features but I felt it was a fare trade off for the GHz & dual band. All was well with all my settings (quite a few to name QOS,forwarded, etc)I also updated the firmware when it came available and re entered same settings.
Approx 3 months after use I had 0 WAN connection via eth0 or WIFI, when I logged into router I was pulling a Public IP from my ISP. I could ping from inside the router but no connection on any hosts, very strange. Powercycling Modem/Router yielded same results.. I then backed up my vast amount of settings, and did a 30/30/30 reset.. With no configs I had no issue browsing on any host on my network. So I restored from backup and the issue was back again..So I did another 30/30/30 reset. Then went and reentered the exact same settings as before and the issue was gone.

just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook. However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200. When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well. All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.
