View 1 Replies View Related12 users, 3 servers, 5 smartphones/tables on the WiFi (existing AP), future VPN server (maybe 5 simultaneous inbound VPN connections at the most with at least one client using a Mac), Cisco Gigabit small business switch.Internet access, VPN connectivity, and firewall (reporting, close/open ports for custom applications as needed)I was originally going to select an ASA5505-50 user device for the above client. The device is highly regarded on the Internet, offers a command line interface, priced right for the budget and should perform all duties required by the client. However, the addition of the RV180W to the Cisco product line has me questioning my choice.
1)Does the RV180W offer a command-line interface?
2)Is the RV180W limited in the number of users it can support without having to purchase additional user licenses?
3)How are firmware/software upgrades handled with the RV180W?
4)What will the client be giving up if they choose the RV180W vs. the ASA5505?
A external scan has reviled that I have an open port. For security reasons I want to close it. I do know the port number.
View 7 Replies View RelatedBeen more than 2 years since I purchsed this router from US and has been working flawlessly till now. Lately I have been facing issues with few websites not opening when my laptop is connected to the router using a lan cable. Sites like speedtest.net (I get the download speed but when it needs to upload it is stuck there forever), [URL] is another which just does not open.
I tried opening these sites using e4200 wifi and everything works perfectly. I even updated the firmware to the latest 1.0.05 build 7 Aug 23, 2012 but still the same issue.
My router set to Automatic configuration - DHCP...
Also when I directly connect the internet cable to my laptop lan, everything opens without any issues.
How do I go about opening specific ports on an E4200?I'm having disconnect issues with a particular game, and the Customer Service drone thinks the ports required for the game aren't open. Nevermind the fact that it's worked fine for 6 months now, and the problem only started a few days ago.I figured I'd humor the idiot and open the ports, but all I can find is information on forwarding, not making sure the ports are open

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Cisco Connect Cloud to connect to my E4200 router. I wish to open my NAT type as currently its moderate on all games.Where the hell is the area to add the port ranges?? Is it even an option on the new connect cloud? If it is, it doesn't make it very easy to find. Would be allot easier if you had a tab/app for "Gaming/Applications" like you did previously.

Also, it’s NOT showing up on my main 4200 "DHCP client table'.I configured it as a static IP 192.168.1.145 during setup and still cannot get in. My ping to .145 comes back “timeout”!Since I’m getting a full signal from it, it must be working so why can’t I get in and why doesn't it show up?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a E4200 setup for 2.4 & 5G running the latest firmware. When I connect to the router wireless 192.168.1.1 and log in, it takes a few seconds for the web interface to display. Same happens when switching to the different config tabs. Is there any reason for this? I would think it would be immediate but it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds for IE9 to respond.

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded my E4200 to firmware 1.0.03 (from 1.0.01). I have some new issues, questions, and some outstanding issues.
1) Web interface over https is now painfully slow.
2) Does DDNS work in bridge mode? DynDNS allows the sending of an update without an IP address, so it should be able to work.
3) Does accessing the management interface in bridge mode count as local or remote?
4) I'd really like to be able to get WOL working through the router. I managed to create a static DHCP reservation for 192.168.1.254 to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, but I don't think the router added that entry to the ARP table, is there any way to do this.
(I think have WOL forwarded to 192.168.1.254). 5) Should the router be providing some local dns hostnames? For example I have the device name set up in the local network setup, but it won't resolve. Similar for connected devices, especially those with with a DHCP reservation. 6) In bridge mode, does it matter which port is used to connect to the other network device? Does it have to be the WAN port?
Any chance of one or preferably both of these before I flash the router to a more competent firmware?Rather ridiculous that there's no interface counters and no SNMP server. I prefer keeping stock firmware where possible but I need this functionality, it really isn't a big ask. That said I have an E4200 v1, which already looks like abandonware given it's been 6 months since the last firmware update - not amused and no intention of swapping a high performance router for one that sacrifices performance for better NAS functionality.
