Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Rebooting After 1.0.02 Update
Jul 24, 2011
I recently updated the firmware to 1.0.02 on my E4200 and since then it's been rebooting randomly about once a day. It was working perfectly fine before the firmware update.
I have an E4200 v1 wireless router. Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just rebooted. I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).
My E4200 is rebooting every time it sees traffic on any port, including the internet port. It does not reboot itself if there is nothing plugged in.
Already tried: soft reset (power off for 30 seconds), soft reboot via back panel button, hard reset (press reset for 30, unplug and hold reset for 30, plug in while holding reset for 30).
Trying to update it to the new smart Wifi but getting this error "Incorrect Image File".Yes Ive tried redownloading yes ive tried different browers and yes to unziping the file! and Yes Im downloading the correct version I even tried version 1 for the heck of it and still nothing.

I downloaded this file :[URL]I upgraded it, I typed 192, etc. in firefox, when to the maintenance tab, put the dowloaded file in "new firmware location" and clicked "update". It said: "you put a wrong file".this is written in the same tab : Current Firmware Version 6.0.0 Build 100906 Rel.43560
I am waiting for half year. And I read the forum know the NAT though put perfromance of 1.0.01 is poor than that of 1.0.03 of E4200.Actually a bit disappoint to CISCO LINKSYS products. It is not value to cost high selling price with poor functions and performance.
After I updated my E4200 V1 with the 1.0.04 update I am unable to connect my WET610N to it with 802.11N. I can connect fine with 802.11G. I tried the Site Survey method of pairing them as well as manual. When it fails it goes through the minute timeout of trying and then Link Status is disconnected. I have anything from phones to laptops connect to the E4200 with wireless N, its just the WET610N that doesnt want to pair.
I have an E4200 and have added it to my network with a new static IP and DHCP and firewalls off.It runs off my cable modem and router (Virgin Media Superhub) that has DHCP.When I tell it to do a firmware update, traceroute or ping it fails, just wont do any of them.
Frameware version: 1.0.03. Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.
I got a installation issue of cisco connect software. The installation keep downloading update and cannot process to next step. This "downloading update" is for cisco connect software update or router E4200 's firmware update?
Okay so I have been using my E4200 router and WET610N bridges for a while now without any issues really until yesterday when I updated the firmware on the 4200 now none of my WET610N's (I have 2) can connect via wireless at all. At first I thought it was a a wireless issue but I have other devices that connect up just fine via wireless.I've made no changes to the router or the bridges before the firmware update.
If I hook the bridge directly to the router I can access it and configure it, but looking at the "Status" page, I see the bridge try and connect wirelessly but is quickly disconnected. Range isn't an issue as in my testing the bridge was 2 feet from the router.I've update the bridges to the latest firmware and have verified a 100 times that the settings on both my router and the bridges are set correctly (when the bridges are hooked up via network card).
I just updated Cisco software and my external hard drive is no longer recognized by Cisco. It is a Seagate drive that is listed on the Cisco tested - passed - approved list. It worked prior to this update. I have disconnected the drive. Reconnected it. Rebooted. Turned machine and router on and off and its still not recognized.
Model name: Linksys E4200 Model number: E4200 Firmware version: 1.0.03 build 14 Operating system: Windows 7 SP 1 Software version: 1.4.11266.0 Connection type (WAN): DHCP
Recieved this E4200 as a repplacement for a v1 that kept dropping wireless connection. Now after about 1.5 months the router keeps rebooting. Tried resetting, etc...no luck. Calling Cisco now.
I have a problem with my EA4500. Router permanently rebooting. - router is not visible on the network. Ping to 192.168.1.1 - loss of all packets; - hard reset (30/30/30) does not work.
I just bought an EA-4500 and i am having problems with rebooting the device. Every time I change a setting and the router reboots it never starts up again - and the logo LED doesn't flash, it is on constant. I have to cut the power and wait for about 15 minutes, and then it boots up fine - logo flashing and all.
I am trying to update my WRT110 which has 1.0.04 firmware on it right now but when i try to update it toVer.1.0.05 all i get is this message.... i dont know what to do i never had a problem updating my older router's befor i had this one this is the first time im updating this one i tryed updating it on IE 8 RC1 & also Safari 4 but i get the same message . I've also tryed saving the firmware file in it's own folder still no luck try updating on my xp desktop & my laptop with vista with same message? is it a problem with linksys with the file on there website maybe?
My husbands laptops hard drive crashed and burned. Some of the memory was saved and loaded on the new hard drive one good thing is that I don't have to reload the wireless into the system. Okay that is fine but the problem it ask for the code key that I loaded it with when I first installed it. I lost it. Then I got on through the guest system and I forgot the password. I just want to get on and update the windows so that my husband will be able to enjoy his laptop again. I don't like sharing computers .
I go to the support page for the WRT54G routers. I set the version number to version 2 and there is no firmware file to download. For every other version there is a firmware file to download but not for version 2. Where can I get the latest firmware for my router.
I found this router still in box and am now using it. I want to update the firmware because i am having issues with it. it has what i assume is the original Firmware 1.00.1. The downloads for this router are no longer available. Why?
an EA6500 router that has intermmitent connectivity issues. Went into the configuration page and saw he was a couple versions behind on firmware. Used the online update option, firmware downloaded and then indicated that router would reboot. Did not power off router or leave the configuration web page. Watched light go out on router and come back on, but the spinning wait icon never went away after 5 minutes. Powered off and on and was back at the same point with the old firmware still. Downloaded the firmware to local drive and applied from local file, but same results. Waited 10 minutes this time. Surely it doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the router to reboot itself from a firmware flash?
Gave up on trying to update firmware and configured wifi settings. Left friend's house and then got a message about 15 minutes later that the router had locked up again. If he pulls power for 2 minutes it will then work for another short period of time.
Is there anything that can be done to try and restore normal operation to this particular router, or are these all signs of a hardware failure and the unit should just be replaced?
Just got a WRT120N and went online to get the most recent firmware and when i performed the upgrade it's gets about 3/4 of the way completed before it just stalls and start screen blinking like it's caught up or something. I using a modem, wrt120n router connection with a Brand New Sony Vaio laptop. I was able to upgrade my old WRT54G V5 router but can't seem to get the new router to update.
I've got an older SRX200 that is starting to "disconnect" frequently (loss of wireless connectivity). I've gone to the Linksys website to download a firmware update, as a potential fix, but the website says no firmware is available. The current version I'm using is 1.01.18.
I'm having trouble seeing my WD 2TB HDD USB after the latest update, it's not showing the partitions anymore. Before the update it was working perfectly.
I'm using 1 partition for my Mac backup and the other partition for Win filesharing.
I have a Linksys E1000 with Firmware Version: 2.1.02 I am having a very hard time searching to see if there is a newer Firmware Version out for this model. If there is any new Firmware update?
Recently, the wrt310nv2-cc mostly got lost in wireless connection, so I would like to update the firmware, but I download the latest firmware, it could not flashed, which version should I use?
I upgraded my WRT54G ver. 2 with the latest linksys firmware update (4.30.5). My previous firmware was 2. something. After the process i lost internet connection and i can't no longer access my router. I tried to reset the router to factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, but nothing happened. I also turned everything off and on again, but still nothing happened.
The router had firmware 2.0.x(?) and I tried to update to the latest FW, according to the webpage that's
FW_E1000_2.1.02.006_US_20130115.bin
Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back. The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
My router just updated to Firmware version: 1.0.04 build 6Operating system: Windows 7 SP 1Software version: 1.3.11006.1Now I can no longer see my network on my Bluray DVD player or other sharing devices. My file sharing worked before this update.
I had a SSID name conflict with one of my devices and the router. I changed the routers SSID which eliminated the conflict. I noted that after changing the SSID, the name of the FTP server did not update to the new SSID. Is this an issue? I did not see any way to manually edit the FTP name. FTP works fine as is.
I've tried downloading the binary file and on both a mac and pc and it's not working. On the mac it looks like a normal zip file but when I click to "unzip" it it just creates another zip file. When I download it on a pc it doesn't even look like a zip it's just a blank white square. Both computers have always downloaded zips fine, so I'm thinking it maybe is a problem with the file?
