I just bought an EA-4500 and i am having problems with rebooting the device. Every time I change a setting and the router reboots it never starts up again - and the logo LED doesn't flash, it is on constant. I have to cut the power and wait for about 15 minutes, and then it boots up fine - logo flashing and all.

I'm having a trouble with a 4510R+E switch. The WS-X45-SUP7-E supervisors are constantly rebooting, and we can see a 'critical software exception reload' reason. We have checked the logs

Recieved this E4200 as a repplacement for a v1 that kept dropping wireless connection. Now after about 1.5 months the router keeps rebooting. Tried resetting, etc...no luck. Calling Cisco now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy e4200v2 which I have been using for about 4 months locks up or freezes regularly - as often as once or twice a week. That is to say the wired laptop can't reach the router and the smart phone does not have a signal. This often happens when there is no phone or computer running. My current firmware is 2.0.37 and it just happened again. The logging capability is absolutely terrible so you can't tell why or when it went down, and what happened just before it went down. I pull the plug on power and when it comes back the log is clean. avoid the freezing/lockup or for logging incoming and outgoing with timestamps?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince I've bought a new Cisco router last summer,, a Linksys E1200 (v.1 updated...) (always in the wireless mode), my laptop (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when I stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later. Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and I have to reboot the hard way...This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time I bought the router. But what makes me think its related to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT occure.... I don't know if this information could be relevant, but this does not happen when I make videos calls with skype on my iphone.

Since changing to the 4500 I have access to the network have full internet service and the anywhere from about 5 to 10 minutes later the internet freezes on the table and I have to reboot connection and the its fine for about another 5 to 10 minutes before it freezes again.

Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just rebooted. I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).

Already tried: soft reset (power off for 30 seconds), soft reboot via back panel button, hard reset (press reset for 30, unplug and hold reset for 30, plug in while holding reset for 30).
I needed a faster router because of expanding peripherals. I bought the EA 4500 because I was told that it was the top of the line and the next thing to sliced bread. I needed a VPN to use with this router but when attempting to subscribe I found out that it was not compatible to with VPN and that I needed a firmware,,,DD-WRT, Tomato or PF-Sense compatibility.....Further research indicates that none of those firmware can work with the EA 4500.

To the same router I connected EA 4500 to which I wired connected Network Hard Disc at which I store music, photos and films, which I can not access via TV set box. If I connect Hard Disc direct to the modem router to which set box is connected, access works fine.
Whar shall I do to establish accesability of Network Hard Disc over all network ?
My EA 4500 wireless speed and range vary drastically by the day under the same conditions.I have tried everything listed on this forum from changing the channels to enabling the Space Time Blk Code mode. It seems to be working fine for a day or so, but eventually the speed and range goes back to being pretty bad!Even with my Ipad or Ipod touch right next to my router, my speed is cut in half compared to the PC connected via Ethernet to the EA 4500 (24 Mbps on PC side and 0.5-10 Mbps on wireless devices.)This router is a really big disappointment for me. It seems very unstable.

I have the "cloud connect" firmware and when I'm redirected to the "Linksys Smart Wi-Fi" page in my browser, I attempt to login as usual.It accepts my login name and password, and then I get a page that has a rotating graphic and it says "waiting..." It eventualy times out and takes me back to the login screen. I've tried to reboot my router and that doesn't work. I've also disconnected the internet connection from the modem, and entered the router main password, and that gives me the same response as if I tried to connect via the cloud.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure why the guest net work is unsecured. I would have thought that would not be an option but it is unsecured. How to secure the guest network [2.4 GHz]? Also when I view the guest list some devices stay displayed whether they are in the vicinity or even turned off. That adds to my paranoia with the guest network being unsecured. I also can't edit the screen names to know who the device belongs to like is available in "my devices", forcing me to keep a MAC address list.

Cable modem is located in the basement so i would like to have one of the routers connected to it and use another router as bridge. So which router would be best to use a bridge. If i use ea4500 as a bridge then i would lose dual band features of it.

The 4500 and then 6500 are connected to the ooma.I have this problem when the routers where placed in front of the ooma as well.
1 time per day, always at the same time, the router stops working. for both wired and wireless connections. i need to unplug the router to work. The modem and ooma continue to work, so i know there is internet getting passed from the modem to the ooma. However, the internet gets disruptted with the routers.
this must be a settings issue with the router. where everyday at the same time, maybe when timewarner changes over or something the router does not pick it up?? i dont know. i have gone through 2 routers and same identical problem.
Every time i plug in my adapter wusb600n and i got internet i go play black ops 2 my game and my whole pc freezes and if i do an other internet without the adapter and use a sitecom adapter or an linksys pci card everything works good but with the wusb600n i every time get freezes even when im not in game, my pc freezes every time and it is really good internet speed with this dual band adapter?

On the other hand, installing the same board on an HP (Compaq) DX2390 (BIOS 5.3) doesn't cause any problem: both the machine and the board work nicely together. View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have had a Cisco WAG160Nv2 wireless router here for home use, brand new for perhaps just 2 months. And we have been mostly happy, except that it sometimes freezes up for no apparent reason.
When I say "freeze up", I mean that all the connected PCs - ethernet or wireless - have no internet. And that indeed, there is no wireless signal at all. But yet it actually looks as if it is still working. All the lights on the front panel that should be green are still green. But yet, when I attempt to access the router's setup through the browser as normal, that isn't available either. So I can't even access the router's setup, to check for errors in the log.But yet it isn't an ISP problem either. Because every time this happens, the solution is to turn the router off and then back on. And that works every time. So it seems to be a router problem, not an ISP problem.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing some problems with a new X1000 gateway. The device works very well for 2-3 days. After that period, it seems to just freeze. I can connect to the wireless, but no IP address is leased. Wired clients keep their IP address, but can't connect to the internet. Communication between the wired clients is still possible (Ping, CIFS, LAN games,...). The DSL sync LED is lit as is the Internet LED. The management interface does not load. Doesn't matter is there has been a lot of internet traffic or virtually none. The only way to make it work again, is to cycle the power.
I've been fiddling with the different features from all off to all on, but the problem persists. I even got a replacement device, but that has the exact same problems. My ISP tells me that the Cisco and Linksys devices are fit to work on their network. I'm using a Zyxel gateway at the moment, which is absolutely fantastic, but has no wireless and useless QoS management.
As I continue to have various issues with my revision A version of the DIR-825, does an updated firmware is in the works? Or has revision A been DE-supported by Dlink?
