Windows Action Center Malware Keeps Coming Back?

Dec 25, 2011

while ago, I got a virus that tried to mimic windows activity center. Since then, I have use malwarebytes anti malware, ccleaner and microsoft security essentials to scan and remove the virus.Usually what happens is that I will be using firefox, and all of a sudden most of my programs would exit, and one of those fake virus scanners come up (Microsoft security essentials also turns off if that is important). I open the task manager, and identify the program. I open explorer (as i can't open mbam, or mse) and delete the file. While it is in the recycle bin, I can open mbam (for some reason, it asks what program to open mbam with, I just pick mbam from the list) and I scan, and remove the threats. Then I empty the recycle bin, and use ccleaner to fix the registries. Lastly, I use mse to scan the computer.Everything works for a while until it comes back again....and again....and again. I've tried the same steps in safe mode and again in regular mode. It's still happening.

Cisco VPN :: 2800 - Tunnel Not Coming Back Up After Power Cycle

Apr 15, 2013

Cisco 2800, 12.4(23b) router has two VPN tunnels to other Cisco devices.

Authentication uses certificates from a PKI CA server. Under normal circumstances all works fine, both crypto sessions up.

After a power cycle (having first saved configs) however, the crypto sessions are stuck in DOWN-NEGOTIATING.

The certificate on the router still looks valid.

The only way to get the sessions back up is to renew the certificate, which seems strange as the existing one appeared to be still valid.

Xbox 360 Can't Connect To Windows Media Center

Jun 13, 2011

I can't remember the last time I connected to the Windows media center on my Xbox 360 but I know recently I have tried to run a game server on the PC that the media center runs on. I was trying to do this by setting up a static IP. Here is the thread I posted to ask questions about it. I also used Hamachi to do the same thing. It basicly creates another netowork for you to connect to other people on, I guess. When I started using it another network appeared in my network and sharing center.I have tried reseting my modem and router. I've checked my network settings on my PC and my Xbox 360 and they both look like they use to look before I tried to use my PC as a server.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WDR4300 - Windows Media Center Extender?

May 3, 2013

Region : Argentina
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP :

I've just set up my new WDR4300. I have a media center PC that is able to access the router and a media center extender that is also able to access the router as well without issue. However, the media center pc cannot see the extender. I found this post which describes a similar issue and talks about another tp-link router that "Blocks SSDP Search or Notify packets, so the PC can never find the Extender during setup."I believe this may be the issue but am unsure where to start looking or how to correct it. I have enabled UPnP on the router and am still having no success. I believe it has to be something with the router since everything works correctly if I hook my old router back up.

Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.

No Network Connection Suspect Malware

Mar 24, 2012

Running Windows 7 Home Premium, Dell OEM install. The symptoms are:No wifi connection, adapter does not show in dev manager. It is just missing, scan for new hardware doesn't find it.Will not connect via ethernet...no internet access. It will not renew or release its IP address, says there is no device in permissible state for this operation. The computer had obvious malware, there were a bunch of sketchy items in the startup. I ran several malware tools, they found and removed hundreds of items. The computer had an expired installation of Trend Micro, I removed that and used the removal tool from Trend to be sure it was gone. I do not know if it has had other security software installed in the past, I ran Norton and McAfee removal tools since those come on most PCs.

I have tried resetting winsock and TCP/IP, to no avail.I know I need to probably reinstall wifi drivers to get the card back, but that's next after I solve the overall connectivity issues. If this were my PC I would have just Re-OSed by now, and I may just suggest that to him.

Getting Cable Internet Back Online After Windows Xp Reinstall?

Mar 13, 2011

I have an older (but still good) computer...it's gotten to the point of being somewhat less than functional due to remnants of old programs and viruses and such scattered thoughout it. After a few weeks of fighting it to get it to run properly I think at this point my best option is to reformat the hard drive and re-install the original OS from CD. I've already backed up all my important files to CD and DVD, pretty much ready to pull the trigger here.... Concerned about getting back online! I have cable internet (Bresnan)...I want to make sure I have the proper drivers and any applicable software to get back online, I know people have had problems with this after reformatting....The computer is a dell dimension 8400, I'll be returning it to a windows XP home edt. with sp2 from the OS CD, (circa 2004ish). I plan on putting a comodo firewall installation on a CD as well, so I have a functional firewall in place (instead of the crappy norton one that will get re-installed) when I go to get the sp2 updates and the sp3 and updates and not just end up re-infected again...

Which RJ11 pairs will be connected each other [code]

According the configuration samples One router must be CPE and the other must be CO for simulating DSLAM.

Cisco WAN :: 888 SHDSL Routers Back To Back

Dec 15, 2011

I'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.

Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.

2. EEM script is shutting interface down.
3. EEM script is waiting 5 minutes.
4. EEM script is enabling interface.

Cisco VPN :: 8.3(2) / WEBVPN-SVC Action Drop

Jul 18, 2011

my Cisco anyconnect VPN clients  are able to access all of my internal networks accept to another site  which has a IPSEC VPN site-to-site. The Cisco ASA forwards the packets  destined to this remote site to a Cisco router which NATS the source  addresses (pool 10.17.252.0/24) to a 192.168.46.0 range. The remote  network is 155.x.x.x which I have included in my internal subnets  object-group and added a route on the ASA to route it inside.

I  have configured NAT so that it does not NAT anything from the  anyconnect client range to the internal subnets. I am using version  8.3(2) and the NAT rule is:

nat (outside, inside) source static SSLPOOL SSLPOOL destination static INSIDE_NETS INSIDE_NETS

I can still not connect to the remote side via the VPN; when I run this throught packet-tracer, I get a failure on phase 6:

Type: WEBVPN-SVC
Subtype: in
Result: DROP

Result:Drop reason: (acl-drop) Flow is denied by configured rule

I cant seem to work out what it is that is blocking it. The NAT rule above is rule 1 in case some other NAT rule is causing the issue..

Cisco WAN :: Port Security Action On 3750?

May 22, 2012

I was wondering if there is a workaround to have a mac access-list bond to a port security violation action our need is the following: we have a range of 10 mac addresses that can use any port on the 3750, we only want to allow those ones yet we also need to tak action if a denied mac appears on any port of the switch.the only work around I found is to basically go into a port-rage mode and list all the allowed mac addresses under all the ports of the switch. I would also add to that a port violation action. did not test it but should work. problem is, it would be a huge config.I did read that we can create a mac access list and then bind that mac to physical ports wich will actually simplify our solution yet I did not find a way to bind the mac list with a port violation action.
