My wireless key is turned on, and I know it has nothing to do with my router at my apartment because my friend's wireless connection works fine. I know it has something to do with my own computer because I am in college and I cannot connect wirelessly off-campus at my apartment or on-campus using my school's wireless network connection.

It is just missing, scan for new hardware doesn't find it.Will not connect via ethernet...no internet access.It will not renew or release its IP address, says there is no device in permissible state for this operation.The computer had obvious malware, there were a bunch of sketchy items in the startup. I ran several malware tools, they found and removed hundreds of items. The computer had an expired installation of Trend Micro, I removed that and used the removal tool from Trend to be sure it was gone. I do not know if it has had other security software installed in the past, I ran Norton and McAfee removal tools since those come on most PCs.
I have tried resetting winsock and TCP/IP, to no avail.I know I need to probably reinstall wifi drivers to get the card back, but that's next after I solve the overall connectivity issues. If this were my PC I would have just Re-OSed by now, and I may just suggest that to him.
while ago, I got a virus that tried to mimic windows activity center. Since then, I have use malwarebytes anti malware, ccleaner and microsoft security essentials to scan and remove the virus.Usually what happens is that I will be using firefox, and all of a sudden most of my programs would exit, and one of those fake virus scanners come up (Microsoft security essentials also turns off if that is important). I open the task manager, and identify the program. I open explorer (as i can't open mbam, or mse) and delete the file. While it is in the recycle bin, I can open mbam (for some reason, it asks what program to open mbam with, I just pick mbam from the list) and I scan, and remove the threats. Then I empty the recycle bin, and use ccleaner to fix the registries. Lastly, I use mse to scan the computer.Everything works for a while until it comes back again....and again....and again. I've tried the same steps in safe mode and again in regular mode. It's still happening.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
I just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting to the internet on my laptop, the internet connection will work great for 10 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on iPod, IPhone, and tablet. Downloaded Kaspersky Antivirus which said it fixed some viruses but internet got worse after that. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.

I have three WAN connections (2 x 100Mb and 1 x 2Mb serial) and I need to replace the 2Mb serial connection with a further 100Mb connection. However, I have not got any spare 100Mb sockets.My plan is to use a switch that supports VLANs, connect the three WAN connections to the switch, each in their own VLAN, then connect the switch to one port on the router, configuring the switch port as a trunk (so that it passes all three VLANs across the link) and configuring the router so that for that single Ethernet interface, it has three subinterfaces each configured for a VLAN that matches the VLAN used for the corresponding WAN connection.
I am a bit rusty on my IOS so I wanted to run this all past the community for feedback. [code] Any thoughts on whether or not that will work? Are there any commands from the original interface configurations that I CANNOT use when moving them to a subinterface? I'm thinking that the speed & duplex commands need to be removed?
We're getting "Connaction Timeout / Connection Failure" error messages several time per day. Here is our setup:

From past few months, we keep getting Connection Timeout and Connection Failure error messages in our vendor application which connects to SQL Server 2005. Also Terminal Server 2003 keep disconnecting for every few hours.After several days of troubleshooting, we come to know that this Cisco ASA 5500 is not working properly. When I access the ASDM, it shows several warning messages.I know there is a setting option to configure TimeOut, but is there anyway to test and track the ASA 5500 regarding this Timeout issues?
I have a Packard Bell Laptop using Windows XP OS and doesn't have Wireless Connection. So long ago i bought a Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G v.1.2 but didn't have time to set it up or use it for travelling conditions. A couple years later when i came back to check on the laptop, i noticed that i lost the setup CD. So i went on the Linksys website and looked for the driver the download. On the back of the Adapter(card) it says it is version 1.2. But this version is unavailable on the Linksys Website. I could only find v.1, 2,3,3.1 and 7. v.1 gives a driver of v3.1 etc... AND NOT VICE-VERSA.So first when i inserted the card into the slot , the PC didnt detect it. It only detected it rarely if i insert another driver (eg: USB..). And so a window would pop up to install but i didnt know what to do there. When i downloaded the v.1 driver from the website and installed it, it seemed not the detect the card either, it would just say searching for wireless, but that's it. It would keep searching for hours even when im next to the router.finally, only the Power led light on the card is lit up but not the "Link" led.

I noticed that, when she wasn't actively browsing or using the network, her computer would lose connectivity, but regain it when a browser was opened. When I tried to use the XPS, I found that it had no connection. Since my ‘main’ computer is connected directly to my cable internet, I know that there is nothing wrong with the Internet connection itself, only with wireless connection.I disconnected the Linksys Router for 2 minutes and reconnected it, but to no avail. I know that I have not made any changes to any software/hardware that might affect the speed.Since I also happen to have access to another wireless Internet connection (a different provider), I connected to that network and all my wireless devices were working perfectly. I have a Netgear CGD24G Wireless Gateway and a Gateway MA8 laptop with after-market Windows 7 (Vista got a virus, went ahead and upgraded.)Now, when I download 100 MB files on my Xbox 360 (Which is wired to the modem) it will be downloaded in a couple minutes, or less. The other computers in my house (There are plenty, and even more that come and go.) get a blazing internet connection, and most of them are wireless.Now this computer, which had an extremely quick connection as well all of a sudden dropped off, while the rest of the computers remain fast.I've gone to Speedtest.net before and after this occurred and my speed before was around 12 mb/s, and one time around 4 AM was even upward of 25 mb/s, all of these tests were performed multiple times on different server locations. I JUST did the speedtest, and it came back with .4 mb/s, and the UL speed was 2.0. I honestly can't remember what I averaged with it prior to the problem, but it was definitely higher as well

After intalling AE1000 Driver, I was unable to connect to internet and Wireless network connection appeared disabled in my Network Connections folder. However it is shown to be Enabled in my Device manager screen. no matter what I do, I am unable to enable the connection and connect to internet (when tryiing to enable the connection, a enabling screen pops up, and times out. device still shown to be disabled/grey).
I made the following attempt trying to get this fixed.
uninstalling the deivce and reinstalling it. (doesnt work) uninstalling the device, restart and have the windows update install the device (the deviced was installed. however I am still not able to enable it) Disable & Enable TCP/IPv4 & TCP/IPv6 (doesnt work) uninstalling local Area connection and use wireless to connect (doesnt work) download driver from websit, and install it manually. (does not work) connecting thou CD. I was given a msg telling me to disable my 'other' wireless manager and use the windows wireless manager to connect (i have no idea i had 'Other' Wireless manager >.>) testing whither or not the same adapter works on another PC (it works...) Testing wither or not my router is not working... (well.. im typing right now... so it works...)
I currently have a Linksys E1200 router and I am getting anywhere from .3-.5 of a megabit per second download speed while upload speed ranges from 2-5 Mbps. This is very strange to me as I have never seen a connection this slow or one that had a higher upload speed than download speed.

After 24hrs they i cannnot connect the via HTTP and webcames IP addresses disapear from the DHCP client table. If reboot the webcames the it works fine for next 24hrs. I did not make any modification to any settings and the setting looks just like i had on the 160N router

I thought I read that N is downward compatible with B and G cards, but then I saw some kind of network adapter that is put in the USB and wondered if I'd have to do that with the laptop. That's a wonderful router on the paper! Really it has some problems with the wireless connection and the dhcp server. After 2 days of i must forced to reset the router because it refuse any wireless connection while the internet browsing on the other pc connected via ethernet ARJ45 is very slow.To complete the scenario the router doesn't allow any acces to his console page ..so what's the problem?
I try to change any channel for the wireless without no positive result.I bought it on amazon but if this situation will continue without any solution from tp-link i will forced to send it back with a totally negative feedback on the product.
I have a Cisco WRT120N Router and a Cisco Valet AM10 wireless adapter. Almost every time the computer reboots, I loose my network and I have to redo the AM10 setup. The AM10 is the only device that loses the connection, my lap top and printer do not lose the connection.
Problem 2: Everytime I upplug and replug the AM10 a window pops up saying I need to check the drive for errors but none
are found.
Problem 3: I downloaded the AM10 install program, Downloadable.Setup.AM10.1.2.10148.2. It does not work. If I try to run it Iget an error message that the setup canot be completed and to call in for support.
Problem 4: When I can get it working is shows that it is Wireless Connection 5. Why 5 and not 1? Where are the other 4?

I haven't changed anything apart from the SSID names so I can choose which device has access to which band 2.4 or 5ghz.I've come across an issue with the wireless and it drops connection randomly. I have to then disable and enable wireless adaptor on my laptop to connect again.I have read reports of allot of people having this issue however the majority of the issues were over a year ago (2011). Am I to assume this issue was resolved with a firmware upgrade somewhere which I may of missed? My current firmware is 2.1.38.138880. Is this the most up to date?

My normal speed is around 15 Mbps but now it has dropped to about 0.85 - 1.0 Mbps. At first I thought someone might be using my connection without my knowledge so I changed the password but it was still slow. I then changed my wireless channel (I heard that if too many people are on the same channel it can cause interference) and it worked. However, a little bit later (sometimes a few hours and sometimes a few days) my connection would become slow again. I have also tried upgrading my firmware but no luck.

Bought this adsl router on Friday and since then I have been experiencing random frequent wireless dropouts, router appears to reboot at this point too, Internet drops out too. Wireless drops as I hear the beep from my airplay speaker reconnecting. Any one have these issues too, tired changing channels, then back to auto again, still no joy.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit and I have sucessfully configured my wireless print server (Linksys WPSM54G) to work with my computer and our HP DesignJet 500ps. I have been able to print several sets of drawings without issue, however if the plotter is inactive for an extended period of time (1 hour +/-) the wireless print server loses connection with our router. At the same time the print server loses connection, an associate in our office with a wireless connection to his computer also loses connection to the router. A simple power cycle of the router and print server restores the wireless connection
I chatted with Linksys online tech support and they confirmed that I had the most recent firmware in both the router and print server and had me reconfigure some of the wireless settings on the router. All was good until about an hour ago when I tried to plot and discovered that the print server had lost it's connection to the router and my associate had also lost his wireless connection.
What's the deal here? I feel as though the root cause of this issue is related to the wireless router rather than the print server as my associate was periodically losing connectivity to the wireless router before installing the print server.
I am running 5508 controller with version 7.0 and 1142N access points.. I am facing a problem on user connectivity.
Wireless Users are getting frequent connection and disconnection. These users are not getting connected to the access point nearby although this access point is up and running. I have tried reducing the power level, configured the AP after resetting it.
I have a E4200v2 and im getting wireless connection issues. I have updated to the lastest firmware and have checked all my wireless settings. I dont use usb storeage. I have 1 laptop using 5G, my iphone using 2G and my wife mac using also 2G.. the problem is that, once we stop using the 2G connection (leave it overnight), it just dies the next day.. it wont connect, i double check the password and it wont connect. But the 5G connection is fine.. Do i have a break E4200v2? or anyway of fixing this?

I have removed the check in front of the enable box in the Authorization Tab. The only difference I have noticed is that the icon in the task bar instead of a white on red X I now get a Black on yellow triangle...but still no connection...all this after a couple of days worth of **bleep**

I was told that this Cisco ASA appliace would be able to translate the network address as a mask in order to make the necessary connection with the other site connection.
