I get frequest Airport Express wireless connection drop and reconnect with my replacement e4200v2 running the latest firmware. I have it connected the 5Ghz band and set to channel 161.
View 9 RepliesI've got an apple Airport Express and have managed to set it into my network. Airplay works on both Itunes and my phone. However after 10-15minutes the Airplay drops out and the network map shows that the airport express is 'offline'. however the airport express LED remains showing it still have connection to the network. The only way to get it back is to reset the AE. The apple forum has lots of people stating the same problem with WAG120n routers.

I have a couple incredibly annoying problems with my E4200v2. I have one Win7 laptop that connects wirelessly and has been slowed to a CRAWL connected to this new router.3 of the 4 Android powered devices I have experience random and unexplained drops in Internet access. It seems they stay connected to the router itself but they lose Internet. Happens at random times and intervals.

From there I have an ethernet cable attached to an AV receiver (Pioneer 1021k), but all to often now with this new router to use any of the features of the receiver ie Airplay, iOS app remote, I must restart the router EVERY time. This is frustrating because the these issues were never present with the netgear router.

If these devices are wired in the network they don't have any issues seeing the airport express. Is there any special configuration I need to do to my E3000 so that wireless devices can see each other? I also had the same issue with my ps3 for streaming from wireless laptop to wireless ps3.

I have managed to get it all connected up and working but am suffering frequent dropouts while streaming music. I have done a little reading and have tried changing a few settings on the router but have found no improvement. My set up is as follows.
-Modem connected to WRT610N Router
-Desktop Computer connected to network via wusb600N dongle
-Airport Express connected via wif
-Using Iphone 4 as remote
Is there a way where i can set up the airport express on a total different frequency to everything else in the house i.e laptops iphones etc to prevent these cutouts.
I haven't changed anything apart from the SSID names so I can choose which device has access to which band 2.4 or 5ghz.I've come across an issue with the wireless and it drops connection randomly. I have to then disable and enable wireless adaptor on my laptop to connect again.I have read reports of allot of people having this issue however the majority of the issues were over a year ago (2011). Am I to assume this issue was resolved with a firmware upgrade somewhere which I may of missed? My current firmware is 2.1.38.138880. Is this the most up to date?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Airport Express and two wireless routers. The Airport Express is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Router 2 is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Since I like to know which Wireless Router I'm connected to, Router 1 & 2 use different SSIDs. Router 1 is the DHCP server (DHCP turned off on Router 2). All security settings are turned OFF.Router 1 is a Linksys WRT120N with latest firmware and Router 2 is a Belkin Wireless Router.I can connect via wireless to Router 1 and Router 2 via the seperate SSIDs and have Internet connectivity (Router 1 is connected the the Internet) and print to a wireless printer connecter to the Router 1 wireless network.
Now here is the strange thing. I can see the Airport Express only if I connect to the Router 2 wireless network!!! I cannot see it if I connect to the Router 1 wireless network, yet the Airport Express is connected via Ethernet to ROUTER 1 !So for some reason, the LinkSys WRT120N Wireless Router won't route the Airport Express to a wireless client on it's own wireless network, but it will route it to an Ethernet client which is what any client connected to Router 2 wirelesslessly is seen as. When connected to router 1 wirelessly I can ping the IP of the Airport but something is preventing it from working with iTunes/iPhone/Airport Utility. It is bizarre because these are all devices connected to the same LAN. SInce I can ping it, it tells me that it isn't a routing issue, but there must be some sort of filter between the wireless and ethernet that is preventing the Airport protocol from being transmitted.
Is it possible to configure the apple airport express to extend a linksys wrt120N wireless network? if so how?

I also have a Linksys WRT54GL that is wired to a printer.Currently, when I want to print from my computer, I have to manually connect to the Linksys network, which is a pain. I would like to wirelessly connect the Linksys to my main network, so I can print even when connected to my Airport Express.Does that mean that I have to configure the Linksys as an access point? A bridge? Something else? How do I do that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this: Randomly, the DIR-825 will prohibit streaming to my AirPort Express via AirTunes. It'll also disappear from Bonjour Browser and AirPort Utility. I can connect directly to it, if I enter the IP into the AirPort utility directly.The only way to get it to come back is to either reboot the DIR-825, reboot the AE, or unplug the ethernet to the AE.

Probably because its a lot faster than the old router Ive got now. But I have a problem when i try to set it up. When I plug in the Express and the cable from the cable modem then start Airport utility, it cant find the Express. Ive tried using my laptop and connecting it straight into the modem, but that doesn't seem to fix anything.

My PS3 will not connect to my wireless network via the E4200v2. I even retyped in my network information (SSID and password) onto the PS3. Still "no joy." Any issue with the E4200v2 and the PS3?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble maintaining a 6rd connection with E4200v2 and the 6rd tunnel. When the 6rd is first setup, IPv6 works perfectly on all my devices. But that only lasts for a few hours. My windows xp computers and iphone cannot get an IPv6 connection/address after a few hours. And then hours turn to days with no IPv6 connection. The router says it's got an IPv6 address but I'm not able to connect any devices to any ipv6 sites and/or ipv6 test sites (ipv6 tests fail). IPv4 always works. There's no problem with IPv4.
So I'm wondering if Cisco tested these routers for a couple hours but never did any long term tests? Or maybe the problem is with AT&T? It would be too big of a coincidence for it to happen on several windows computers and apple devices at the same time to be a device problem. It's failed the IPv6 tests with friend's ipads and Windows 7 computers also.This issue has occurred on all versions of cloud and classic firmware including the latest 2.1.39.145204. The only way to get IPv6 back working again is to power cycle the DSL modem (in bridge mode) and E4200v2. It doesn't matter if the 6rd is configured to automatic or manual using AT&T's published BR settings. Same result. IPv6 lasts for a few hours.And it doesn't matter if the modem is in bridge mode, or if I configure Lan-to-Wan or L-W with IP pass through.....same result.
I've bought my E4200v2 via eBay, because original Cisco store doesn't ship to my country (Israel).My first unit was... defective, I think I wrote about the issue on this forum a while ago.It had connection troubles, always in a dead loop, saying "Connecting..." one to 100 times it managed to connect, and suffered slow internet connection speed, where all speedtests gave me 60% of my actual internet speed.Which is 30mbit.I'm sure about my ISP, it uses next.gen technology, they have their own underwater optic cables. Without Cisco router, only dialer, I get 100% of my internet speed, or with another router as well.I decided to RMA my e4200v2.
Out of context question: Why there's no option to specify server name instead of server IP? our ISP uses domain name for connection, rather than IP address, as they have a lot and a load balancer above 'em.Now, to the original issue.Refund is no option, RMA again is no option, too much time and money.Maybe there is a solution? It just can't be the reality, that two out of two units are not working. I heard this router is very good. And I heard the v1 is working very well in Israel. so It can't be our country that is the problem.By the way, I've called my ISP and they've switched me to MPLS connection for a try, so in a router you just switch to "Automatic configuration - DHCP" and it pulls IP, DNS servers and connected to the internet, but was hooooribly slow.
So I'm back to dialer. the main still is the "Connecting..." loop, sometimes says "Connected" for a second, and then connecting again... It manages to pull DNS addresses though, but never the IP and never managed to stay connected.All the connection configs are very basic, you know it. Server IP, username, password, keep-alive, MTU (I've tried auto, and a ton of other combinations recommented by our ISP or Cisco).My latest idea was to film how I burn it or throw a rock at it and send to Cisco the video, but that's kinda too much, it's too early for such decisions, especially when already $300 were spent.
I have a E4200v2 and im getting wireless connection issues. I have updated to the lastest firmware and have checked all my wireless settings. I dont use usb storeage. I have 1 laptop using 5G, my iphone using 2G and my wife mac using also 2G.. the problem is that, once we stop using the 2G connection (leave it overnight), it just dies the next day.. it wont connect, i double check the password and it wont connect. But the 5G connection is fine.. Do i have a break E4200v2? or anyway of fixing this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was able to connect to my 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks just fine. Now today I get a message that the connection timed out whenever I try and connect to the 5ghz. I have done a 30/30/30 reset, and still no joy. The one thing I haven't done yet is a 30/30/30 with a configuration from scratch. I will probably try that later. I've done the usual things like change the channel and all that, still no go. Other things I've done, change the network name, change the MTU, restart my machine. However, this is happening on other devices as well. The 2.4ghz network, solid as a rock.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my laptop running windows 7 to an airport express so I can stream music to my hi-fi.I've tried a number of different things, none of which have been successful.I've tried resetting the device before each attempt to connect it and I've also ensured that the driver for my computer's Wi-Fi (Intel (R) Wi-Fi link 5100 AGN) and the firmware for my router (Linksys E2000) are up to date. The apple airport utility program is also up to date. I also saw this webpage:Sharing my Win 7 PC with Apple Airport Extreme and wireless network. - Microsoft Answers And, all these settings were correct already.I also took the device back to the shop where it was tested and found to be working correctly.
Just plugging in my airport express - Opening the airport utility program, my airport express is recognized straight away. It is highlighted in the left-hand pane and I click on continue. I then get a message asking if I want to switch networks and it says that this is required in order to set it up. I click OK to continue. After a window appears saying that it is detecting apple wireless devices, I get error message number 4 saying that an error occurred while trying to access the network. It then asks me to check to make sure my network is valid.Using ‘configure other under the file tab - The airport express is still recognized in the left-hand pane but I click on configure other. A window appears asking for the I.P. address and a password. I enter the default I.P. address (10.0.1.1) and the default password (public) for the airport express. I then get error 6753 (an error occurred while trying to access the apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again)however, my computer still recognizes the airport express in the list of available wireless networks. I therefore click on it and connect to it. I then try to enter the details (under configure other again). I then get through to the configure apple wireless device screen in which I can input the details of my network details, etc. I enter the details and make sure that they match my routers settings (I have even tried this with no security settings on my router). I then click on update. The computer automatically reverts back to my network and it seems like everything is working. The green light even appears on my airport express. However, I then get a message stating: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.Switching off the wireless network and connecting the Airport express to the computer with an Ethernet cable - The device is also recognized here and I can enter all the details. Before updating I turn on my wireless network so it can make a connection. The green light shows on the airport express but i again get the message that: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.
I have a new ASUS N53S laptop and cannot get it to connect to an existing Airport Express network. It can connect to other networks.
1. Other machines can connect to the Airport Express network, including a Toshiba Satellite PC, iPhone, and MacBook.
2. The Passkey is valid and works for the devices identified in (2)
3. When entering the valid passkey, the network rejects it and says the passkey is invalid
4. I have opened the Airport Express utility and changed the passkey to a new one, and all of the devices identified in (2) were able to connect -- but the ASUS laptop still cannot connect, the system still rejects it from the ASUS laptop and says "passkey invalid"
using an Airport Express to stream itunes music wirelessly? I'm able to get the AE setup and can stream for about 30 minutes but then it can't be found. I'm assuming the 655 is kicking it off. I've tried changing settings on the 655 but nothing seems to make any difference. I'm able to use an Apple TV/iPhone/iPad with no issues.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had a WRT54G2 router and began having trouble with my PS3. It would connect for a few minutes then it would lose the internet connection. I thought maybe it was the router so I have the EA4500 now. The same problem is still happening. I connected all of my other wireless devices to the EA4500 with no problems. The PS3 connects and signs me in and then two or three minutes I'm disconnected. I called Sony and Cisco for assistance but in vain. The PS3 is showing my network has nearly 100% signal strength so that isn't a problem

I did not do a MAC Address Clone, when I connected it I just called my ISP and they enabled it. Internet connection with all devices right there, no problem.
Problem started next day, every day I have to do a hard reset because when I wake up I have no connection with all devices (1 Ipad, 2 Iphones, 2 PCs, 1 Xbox 360, 1 PS3): My SSID is seen on the network but no device can connect to it.
I changed the Channels to manual as said on other threads, but didn't work.
In addition to that, when I try connecting my PC with the ethernet cable to the router -instead of wireless-, I have no internet connection on the PC and any other device that I try to reconnect to the router wirelessly can't connect anymore (have to do a hard reset again and unplug the ethernet cable).
the WRT54G worked perfectly for me...
My VPN connection is dropping every few minutes for a few seconds at a time over VPN on the E3000. It wreaks havoc with the applications that require a constant connection.

When I come home with my iPhone & my wife is on her computer, suddenly the wifi stops. And vice-versa. It's ridiculous. I'm not a computer programmer but if I was I'm pretty sure this would be a no-brainer to fix. Especially if the company that paid me took pride in their products.

It says no internet access when the wired computers have it fine. Android phones, windows 7 pc, and chromebook.
Ive had the WRT160Nv3 for a while and its all been great but recently ive had some issues.Im not sure if this is my ISP but the connection to the router drops out or i lose connection to the internet.I thought the firmware was out of date so i updated to 3.03 from 3.02 and it doesnt seem to fix the problem. what it did was create new problem. now when you edit settings it says >> JAVASCRIPT; true or if i try to edit port forwording it wont save the data i enter.This was all brought to my attention when I tried to connect to my wireless and my SSID was not what i set it as, the router had some way been reset. could something of happened to the router for it to be acting all crazy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWired computer runs XP sp3. Wireless runs Ubuntu 10.04. Hooked to Embarq DSL modem. Setup worked flawlessly for a year or more. Now the router is sporadically dropping the internet connection for both PCs. I haven't discovered how to guarantee an immediate reconnection so the desktop is now connected directly to the modem. The modem is apparently stable as I'm not losing the internet connection. When the router is in the circuit, the internet connection may or may not appear shortly.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new E4200 with two desktop computers using it with no problems. I also have a work Thinkpad laptop that I use a couple of times a week from home. Since day one of installing the new router, I have experienced the blue screen of death numerous times during the day (the number of times varies from 1 to 6 on a really bad day). I believe this is happening when I lose my connection to the router. I can see it trying to reestablish itself but the VPN will drop the connrection before it has a chance. I never lost my VPN connection until the day I installed the new router. Yesterday, at least one time it was unable to reestablish connectivity with the router and I had to reboot the laptop to get it connected. Could this have something to do with the IP address? I do not have any issues with the laptop when I am at work using a docking station.
So, I am wondering why I am constantly losing connectivity on the laptop only. The laptop has Windows XP and I am using AT&T Global Network Client to access the work network. Is there a setting somewhere that will fix this? Our IT folks rebuilt my laptop and I am still experiencing the same problem. I checked and I have the current version of the firmware for the router.
When we stream movies in two different rooms at the same time we drop our netflix or vudu connections. Can I enable or disable any settings on my router that would work. I love this router have 35 Mbps on internet speed so I don't think that is the problem. Range runs from 35 up to 45 Mbps all the time. I know how to access my router settings and navigate where to go and what to change if I can. I have 3 laptops, 1 wireless printer, two blue-ray devices attached.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.
