My problem is this: Randomly, the DIR-825 will prohibit streaming to my AirPort Express via AirTunes. It'll also disappear from Bonjour Browser and AirPort Utility. I can connect directly to it, if I enter the IP into the AirPort utility directly.The only way to get it to come back is to either reboot the DIR-825, reboot the AE, or unplug the ethernet to the AE.
View 3 RepliesI've got an apple Airport Express and have managed to set it into my network. Airplay works on both Itunes and my phone. However after 10-15minutes the Airplay drops out and the network map shows that the airport express is 'offline'. however the airport express LED remains showing it still have connection to the network. The only way to get it back is to reset the AE. The apple forum has lots of people stating the same problem with WAG120n routers.

using an Airport Express to stream itunes music wirelessly? I'm able to get the AE setup and can stream for about 30 minutes but then it can't be found. I'm assuming the 655 is kicking it off. I've tried changing settings on the 655 but nothing seems to make any difference. I'm able to use an Apple TV/iPhone/iPad with no issues.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Apple TV 2 and am trying to use it with Airplay at my business. We have a WLC526 controller and three 521 access points.
We have a guest VLAN on our network which spans both the wired and wireless networks. The guest VLAN is VLAN # 100 and the numbering is 172.16.1.0/24. On this network, 172.16.1.1 is an interface on our ASA which clients on the guest VLAN use as a default gateway. On the wireless side, there is an SSID configured in the controller called LPGA-Guest which is bound to VLAN # 100. Clients that connect to this VLAN get addresses in 172.16.1.0/24 and can access the Internet through the ASA without any trouble. This has all been set up and working for quite some time.
What I have done is attached both the Apple TV and an iPhone 5 to the LPGA-Guest wireless network. I verified that they both have IP addresses in the same subnet, but when I try to bring up a list of airplay devices on the iPhone, nothing shows up. From what I gather, this is because multicast traffic is not being handled properly.

I have just recently replaced my Netgear router with an EA3500 and have it bridged t an Airport Express. From there I have an ethernet cable attached to an AV receiver (Pioneer 1021k), but all to often now with this new router to use any of the features of the receiver ie Airplay, iOS app remote, I must restart the router EVERY time. This is frustrating because the these issues were never present with the netgear router.

If these devices are wired in the network they don't have any issues seeing the airport express. Is there any special configuration I need to do to my E3000 so that wireless devices can see each other? I also had the same issue with my ps3 for streaming from wireless laptop to wireless ps3.

I have managed to get it all connected up and working but am suffering frequent dropouts while streaming music. I have done a little reading and have tried changing a few settings on the router but have found no improvement. My set up is as follows.

-Desktop Computer connected to network via wusb600N dongle
-Airport Express connected via wif
-Using Iphone 4 as remote

I have an Airport Express and two wireless routers. The Airport Express is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Router 2 is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Since I like to know which Wireless Router I'm connected to, Router 1 & 2 use different SSIDs. Router 1 is the DHCP server (DHCP turned off on Router 2). All security settings are turned OFF.Router 1 is a Linksys WRT120N with latest firmware and Router 2 is a Belkin Wireless Router.I can connect via wireless to Router 1 and Router 2 via the seperate SSIDs and have Internet connectivity (Router 1 is connected the the Internet) and print to a wireless printer connecter to the Router 1 wireless network.
Now here is the strange thing. I can see the Airport Express only if I connect to the Router 2 wireless network!!! I cannot see it if I connect to the Router 1 wireless network, yet the Airport Express is connected via Ethernet to ROUTER 1 !So for some reason, the LinkSys WRT120N Wireless Router won't route the Airport Express to a wireless client on it's own wireless network, but it will route it to an Ethernet client which is what any client connected to Router 2 wirelesslessly is seen as. When connected to router 1 wirelessly I can ping the IP of the Airport but something is preventing it from working with iTunes/iPhone/Airport Utility. It is bizarre because these are all devices connected to the same LAN. SInce I can ping it, it tells me that it isn't a routing issue, but there must be some sort of filter between the wireless and ethernet that is preventing the Airport protocol from being transmitted.
Is it possible to configure the apple airport express to extend a linksys wrt120N wireless network? if so how?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my laptop running windows 7 to an airport express so I can stream music to my hi-fi.I've tried a number of different things, none of which have been successful.I've tried resetting the device before each attempt to connect it and I've also ensured that the driver for my computer's Wi-Fi (Intel (R) Wi-Fi link 5100 AGN) and the firmware for my router (Linksys E2000) are up to date. The apple airport utility program is also up to date. Just plugging in my airport express - Opening the airport utility program, my airport express is recognized straight away. It is highlighted in the left-hand pane and I click on continue. I then get a message asking if I want to switch networks and it says that this is required in order to set it up. I click OK to continue. After a window appears saying that it is detecting apple wireless devices, I get error message number 4 saying that an error occurred while trying to access the network. It then asks me to check to make sure my network is valid.Using ‘configure other under the file tab - The airport express is still recognized in the left-hand pane but I click on configure other. A window appears asking for the I.P. address and a password. I enter the default I.P. address (10.0.1.1) and the default password (public) for the airport express. I then get error 6753 (an error occurred while trying to access the apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again)however, my computer still recognizes the airport express in the list of available wireless networks. I therefore click on it and connect to it. I then try to enter the details (under configure other again). I then get through to the configure apple wireless device screen in which I can input the details of my network details, etc. I enter the details and make sure that they match my routers settings (I have even tried this with no security settings on my router). I then click on update. The computer automatically reverts back to my network and it seems like everything is working. The green light even appears on my airport express. However, I then get a message stating: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.Switching off the wireless network and connecting the Airport express to the computer with an Ethernet cable - The device is also recognized here and I can enter all the details. Before updating I turn on my wireless network so it can make a connection. The green light shows on the airport express but i again get the message that: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.
I have a new ASUS N53S laptop and cannot get it to connect to an existing Airport Express network. It can connect to other networks.
1. Other machines can connect to the Airport Express network, including a Toshiba Satellite PC, iPhone, and MacBook.
2. The Passkey is valid and works for the devices identified in (2)
3. When entering the valid passkey, the network rejects it and says the passkey is invalid
4. I have opened the Airport Express utility and changed the passkey to a new one, and all of the devices identified in (2) were able to connect -- but the ASUS laptop still cannot connect, the system still rejects it from the ASUS laptop and says "passkey invalid"
I have only windows computers at home, although for some reason i recently bought an Apple Airport express. Probably because its a lot faster than the old router Ive got now. But I have a problem when i try to set it up. When I plug in the Express and the cable from the cable modem then start Airport utility, it cant find the Express. Ive tried using my laptop and connecting it straight into the modem, but that doesn't seem to fix anything.

My network consists of two Macbooks, an iMac and two iPhones. It utilizes WAP2 encryption and all devices are well within range, the environment being free of interferences from any other WiFi signals (this is a rural area).
My problem: Bonjour networking stops working after a few minutes or hours. When the problem appears, WIRED devices can see all other peers in the network (both wired and wireless), but WIRELESS devices cannot see any other peers whatsoever (wired or wireless).
I have heard that this could be because of a faulty implementation of uPNP by Linksys, and in particular a problem with multicast filtering (and unfortunately the modem/router's firmware does not provide any relevant settings). But I am not sure.
I purchased this thing with the express purpose to use it on a Mac-only network, and I am thoroughly disappointed to see that it does not work, especially since UPNP is supposed to be supported.
I have a DIR-665 and I'm trying to install a B&W zeppelin air speaker, the speaker detects the wireless network but I cant see the airplay logo in the PC, mac, ipad or iPhone. Try with another router and ir works. try with a wired cable but still the same problem. IS there any issue with this routers and airplay, ATV or similar items? [code]

View 11 Replies View RelatedUnable to use AirPlay on a D-Link network. Disable WMM in the Advanced->Advanced Wireless tab.I struggled for weeks with this. AirPlay worked fine on an all Apple network but when I switched to the DIR-655 as the router/ap AirPlay became invisible. I could see the Airport Express in the list of connected devices with an IP address but the AirPort utility and AirPlay enabled apps were unable to see it. Disabling WMM fixed it immediately and I am now back to streaming music.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using a dlink network adapter (6 months old) on my pc, have always gotten an excellent signal. Main pc in house is hooked up to dir-615 router & works fine. I had some bsod's recently & decided to reformat xp. Loaded the driver for the adapter, got an excellent signal, but couldn't access the net. The signal shows 4 green bars for about 20 seconds, then all white bars for a few seconds, then back to green. It keeps dropping the signal over & over. The network card shows its working properly.
I did an ipconfig, and it says "media state disconnected" & shows no addresses. If the dlink adapter is faulty then i'm assuming it wouldn't work in the first place. I'm thinking its some setting not right in the pc. The reformat went fine, loaded all the drivers in the right order. I only have IE for a browser which i need to access the net with to load firefox & all other programs plus service pack 3 & other xp updates back on with.
When I loaded the driver for the dlink adapter, i used a different workgroup/name than the network name originally used to set up the dlink router if that means anything. I've read about resetting the winsock which i'm going to try, but I would think that wouldn't be it since i just reformatted the pc.
There were 6 computers on the 2.4GHz band, and 2 on the 5GHz.Everytime the people on the 2.4GHz band would get disconnected for no reason, but this router should be able to handle that number easily. After lots of fiddling, like telling people to shut down their phones WiFi, I finally found the culprit:

Even with only Wireless-N devices there would be problems. N-only mode worked well.That is unpractical for me as there are some devices here that are still on Wireless-G, like game consoles and some phones.
I have two DIR-655s. One is my main router, connected to my modem. The other, on the other side of the house, is set up as an access point. I followed this guide to set up my AP: [URL]
Both are are hard wired. I have both of them using the same SSID. Both are 802.11g only, have the same security mode, and key. The only wireless difference is the channel. One uses 6, while the other uses 11.
On initial setup, everything is fine, but after a few hours, the AP just seems to stop broadcasting a signal. I'm using "Wifi Analyzer" on Android to monitor it. When I look at the AP, the wifi indicator light is still on. If I log into it, change the channel, and press save on the "Wireless Settings" screen, it will broadcast for a few more hours before stopping again. The wired connect of this AP always seems to work (Xbox is hard wired to it).

My router is running the stock 1.21 firmware and it has been fine for almost a year before the wireless suddenly stopped working. I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause.In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).

I have had my WR841N for about a year, supplied to me by my WISP. I like the router in terms of facilities but it seems to have one really annoying problem.
The router becomes inaccessible via the webpage after a random period of several days. I have at times associated the issue with occasional loss of radio broadband service but it is not always so. To try and further localise the problem I set the router up to send emails of the log to me every two hours from 17/04/2013 but today for the second time the emails stopped arriving after the 02:29 message and the router is inaccessible again. The router previously locked up with loss of broadband service on 26/04/2013 sometime after emailing a log at 02:41 on that day but had been running without issue from a cold restart at 12:25 as soon as I noticed loss of service.
Today I have not lost broadband service and so even though I am no longer receiving an emailed log or able to access the router via its webpage I am leaving well alone for the present. Some months ago when I originally noticed the web access issue I downloaded and installed the latest firmware TL-WR841N-v7-120201 and I note that there have been no further firmware releases for the v7 model.
My broadband service is delivered via radio link from a local transmitter mast and is reliable with typical download speed of 20-30Mbps and 30-40Mbps upload, seldom if ever affected by weather so I now feel the problem is inherent in the router rather then being the result of some issue affecting broadband service which has been solid since 26/04/2013
Without the log I have no way of knowing what was happening when the router became inaccessible but I attach the last 24 hours of received log below.

Have 7.4 installed and configured for Bonjour Snooping. All is working, but working too well. We have a large campus that house 2 schools and each school is complaining that they can see the other schools Apple TV devices.
I have played around with a few different scenarios to see if I can localize the bonjour traffic. I guess I am looking to create a logical split for bonjour devices among the schools. Apple came to the school and informed us that the I PAD has a limit of 64 devices that can be seen via the bonjour. At some point we will have over 100 Apple TV added.
so we have 3 wlc 5508's with 7.4.100. we have 2 SSIDs that span the whole campus using AP groups to segment the floors in buildings. So the schools are logically split with AP groups.
Here is what I have tried, I created few mDNS profiles and assigned the services for Apple TV - let's call them school1 and school2. I assign the mDNS profiles to the interfaces dedicated each school. Enable snooping on the W LAN with profile of none. The end result is that devices from both schools can be seen.
I tried to create new ssid for apple TVs and a new ssid for 1 schools teachers. I followed the v lan select example [URL]. End result is that devices from both schools can be seen. I have tried the mDNS without multicast enabled just like the video shows to no avail - I assume maybe my AP groups might be more complicated then the example of just 2 v lans. [URL].
I have tried combinations of things, but I must be missing something . In the webinar, Cisco said it will use filtering to restrict which clients can see which services (Apple TV's, etc). What will Cisco use to filter Bonjour requests? According to this article

(My router says Version 1.9).Had this router about a month. It works fine. Using it in Wireless mode wpa2 security. Get excellent speeds. HOWEVER> It freqently drops connectivity and fails to allow wireless clients to connect at all. (You can see the SSID via wireless clients, but not connect to it). To restore it, I have to disconnect from Power, wait a moment, then reconnect to power. It recycles and connections are working again with no problems (UNTIL NEXT TIME). Seems to happen every few days.
I checked the web site and I appear to have the most current firmware.I have a Trendnet router on different channels in another part of the house which has never had this problem. I disconnected it to test if it was somehow involved, but the TP-Link router had same symptoms when it (trendnet) was not connected. Our Actiontec Router (VERIZON provides this as base connectin to them serving the Cable TV DVRs also) ) has its wireless disabled and is the DHCP server provider to the home network. DHCP is disabled on the TP Link.
I know Airplay isn't meant to be done across vlans, but surely it should work with things on the same vlan.The 541N's are clustered and have WDS enabled. The wireless VAP's are on the same VLAN, and intervlan routing works. Airplay works if the iDevice and the Apple TV are connected to the same access point, but not across the network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an E2000 router that has an intermittent issue where Bonjour drops out. Suddenly my Apple TV won't see my computers, and my iPad won't see my network printer. This happens whether the Apple TV and computers are connected via wired or wireless interfaces.
Restarting the devices does not solve the issue.

I read an earlier posting about an issue between SPI on the latest WRT610N Version 1.0 firmware and a user's Apple TV. This pointed me to a "solution" to a perplexing problem I was having.
I have 4 machines, 3 connected via WiFi and 1 on one of the wired ethernet ports. I also have 2 Apple Airport Express units for audio streaming as well as 2 iPhones connected wirelessly.
Now for the symptoms, which are all new since updating to firmware ver.1.00.03.15:
1. The WiFi machines see the Airport Express units and can stream audio to them. However, the iPhone Remote app has trouble staying connected to iTunes running on any of these machines. A router reboot is a temporary fix, but connection is eventually lost again.
2. The wired machine cannot see the Airport Express units, nor can the Remote app pair with iTunes on that machine. It's as though no Bonjour-related functions work. Here, a router reboot also provides a temporary fix, but one that lasts only minutes.
Based on that prior post, I disabled SPI on the router and, lo and behold, the wired machine suddenly sees all Airport Express units and can pair with the iPhone Remote app!
I was going crazy, verifying that I was not having Windows Firewall issues, that there wasn't an incompatibility with Windows 7 (which I'm running on all), that this wasn't a Homegroup incompatibility of some sort, that Bonjour was up to date, etc. Only turning off SPI fixed the problem entirely.
So, Linksys ...Any firmware bug fix in the works for this? Can I safely go back to the prior firmware update without security or function concerns? If so, where can I get my hands on the older firmware file?

I have the attached diagram and I followed the instructions from another posts / forum cases and the Apple TV is still not working.
My questions are:
1.-The WLC controller and AP must be in the same subnet?. This is not my case, the AP 3500 is operating in a remote location and I have a centralized WLC 5508.
2.- I already configured the Controller --- > General --- > Broadcast forwarding (enable) + AP Multicast Mode (Multicast / IP: 239.20.226.197).
3.-I already configured the Controller --- > Multicast ---- > Enable Global Multicast Mode (selected) + Enable IGMP Snooping (selected) + Enable MLD Snooping (selected). Please see the attachment.
4.-Do I have to configure something in the Mobility Management --- > Multicast Messaging --- > (Enable Multicast Messaging + Local Group Multicast IP Address) ?????
The Apple TV Device and Ipad are authenticated in the ISE using certificates with no issues and both got IP's from the DHCP for the WLAN Vlan assigned to the SSID activated (see pictures attached).
