My company has an 881-w ISR that provides wireless and wired network functions for our small office (about 20 users). I was attempting to create a new V LAN (another story), and was able to create the V LAN (4) and assign it a new IP. However, when i came in today, and when i attempted to connect to the ISR, the serial console started spewing this over and over:

Now, I did leave the console session up overnight, as that's the only thing that I can think of. As expected, our service contract had expired. I did reboot the ISR, and I am looking to see if this can be fixed, or symptomatic of a larger issue, and time to replace? At this point i can't even get it to stop, and thus cannot log in.
My son ran some program that he didn't know what he was doing and now there is no Network access. As far as I know this is what caused the problem, but I'm not certain. When I tried to reinstall the drivers an errors pops up stating that the drivers couldn't be installed due to "Invalid Access To Memory Location". The networking card is an Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection Adapter. The Networking card is part of the Motherboard. I have the original drivers but they will not install due to the "Invalid Access To Memory Location". Anyhow my son went and bought a new networking card, and it gives the exact same error. I tried uninstalling the networking card in the device manager, but when the hardware is reinstalled, and the drivers are about to install it gives the same error. computer is a Dell XPS 420 with 6 gigs of RAM, an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600@2.40GHz Also in the Device Manager everything under the Heading Network Adapters has a Yellow Triangle with an Exclamation mark in it. I know that this means that there is an error somewhere. I also want to add that when I checked the Netgear GA311 Network adapter card (this is the new card that my son bought)in the Device Manager it says This Device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (code 31).

However, when I try to set it with console cable connecting to PC, the default password does not work. I tried to use control+break to get access to rommon for password recovery. The tera term pro displayed nothing at all! In thin case, what should I do to setup the router? Dose the reset button in the back work to restore the router to factory setting(which means i can use default username and password)?

Today, one of our Cisco 3750 got unmanaged from NOC, we were able to ping the switch, also, traffic was flowing fine but not able to telnet or local login.On trying to login through console following messages were coming:

1. Why "show process mean" command shows less memory than 512 MB? Processor Pool (248 MB) + I/O Pool (58 MB) ~ 310 MB only?

have 3 Catalyst 3750 in same stack, the IOS version is 12.2(53)SE2. Today we can not telnet/ssh to this switch, but ping is ok, and switch function is ok. I try to access the console port, it show "low on memory, try again later". After I reboot the master switch in the stack, the master switch change to another switch, then I can telnet/ssh to this switch. I check the Ciscoworks server syslog report, there are many MAC address flapping error message, and I beleive the MAC address flapping occured before several weeks. ( the G2/0/15 & G3/0/15 is connect to a VMware ESX server and the EtherChannel config mismatch with this Catalyst 3750 switch ) How to mention the root cause of the "low on memory" problem and what is the abnormal memory usage ( free memory percentage below ?% )?

I upgraded the ios from cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-37.SG1.bin (12.8MB Size) to cat4500-entservices-mz.122-37.SG1.bin (13.8 MB SIZE) and deleted the previous IOS.But previous IOS is still getting shown in sh bootflash: command. Furthermore, dir bootflash: commands shows there is only one IOS , which is running. How I can free the space from bootflash , as I again have to upgrade the another new IOS ( of 16MB), which I tried through solarwinds tftp and couldn't upload successfully because of its limitation. Now, If I try to upload the new IOS through FTP, it gives me memory space error. How I can free the space captured by old IOS and also how I can delete the 3rd unknown entry of IOS (shown below output of commands)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have configured DHCP snooping on a WS-3560G-48PS running IOS 12.2(58)SE2 ipservicesk9 variant.When I enable DHCP snooping clients don't get IP addresses, when DHCP snooping is disabled, everything works fine.I have set up a SPAN port and run a capture (attached) on the traffic. Wireshark notes the Seconds elapsed field appeared to be encoded in little-endian but only on some packets. Apart from that, I can see nothing wrong with the DHCP Offer responses from my DHCP server.Attachment config.txt contains the interesting parts of the configuration. Please note g0/32 has been set to ARP inspection trust as without working DHCP snooping it would require a static bind.Is there any way of figuring out which option can't be parsed? Is there a way to force forwarding of unparsable DHCP packets while still running DHCP snooping?

I managed to upgrade this C2960G-48TC-L from 12.2.35-SE5 to 15.0.2-SE1 and now I can't connect anymore via telnet nor ssh. Console output simply shows

I noticed on the 2960 switches we have deployed that are running the latest IOS, 12.2(58)SE2, memory utilization is really high (almost 80 percent). I have not noticed any side effects but I wanted to verify this is acceptable. My question is does the high memory utilization matter? I see this may be related to bug CSCtw83946 but no resolution is mentioned.
I did some testing various IOS revisions and below is what I have found using a WS-C2960-48TC-L with default configuration and only my laptop connected to a switchport in vlan1. You will notice memory utilization will grows with each version but jumps drastically with 58. One difference with 58 I needed to use a different command to retrieve memory utilization. The output was gathered by pasting the output of the show command into the Cisco Output Interpreter on their website.

i want to understand why this 2 proceses (DHCPD & ARP input) taking more memory?High CPU: We also facing intermediate high CPU utilization (above 95%). When CPU is high there were 2 processes consuming more CPU are 'Spanning Tree' (about 20%) & ARP Input (about 66%). we also checked the ARP entries, there were 1500 ARP entries & 2 incomplete ARP (out of 6000 ARP supported)
I am troubleshooting memory leaks and buffers issues on my 1900 and had some doubts regarding the problems that my router causes.Intermitently during the day for no reason the gig0/0 interface connected to ISP stops responding from our management network (log shows that the interface goes down). The ISPs modem responds fine from my management network.The issue goes away by itself in 20 minutes, sometimes more or after a hard reboot.Sometimes a router would increment a throttle value to 1. When running for 4 days without a reboot, the router raised 39 throttles and 57 input drops. [code] The router is running Version 15.1(2)T4 and I was not able to find any caveats on cisco web page (although I havent used the bug finder tool)Is this only leak I found a reason to start worrying or I can disregard it and continue basic troubleshooting (change cable and plug my ISP to another port)
