Cisco WAN :: Connecting Two 878 G.SHDSL Routers Back To Back
Apr 7, 2013
I searched a lot but couldnt find a clear document about connecting 2 G.SHDSL routers back to back.First of all I am not sure which type of cable (RJ11) is used for connecting two 878 routers. Does it have to be cross or straight cable.
Which RJ11 pairs will be connected each other [code]
According the configuration samples One router must be CPE and the other must be CO for simulating DSLAM.

I'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.
Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.

I'm looking for instructions on how to setup and connect two RV082 routers together with a crossover cable between their WAN ports. This is to connect two separate LANS together via an ethernet connection. For staging we are setting everything up with a crossover cable in our shop. Ultimately the crossover cable will be replaced by a microwave link between the two LANS several miles apart. There will be no internet connection.

I have 2650XM router and 2620 Router Both routers have built in WIC T1 CSU/DSU cards
2620Router --
2620Router#sh int se0/0
Serial0/0 is down, line protocol is down
Hardware is PQUICC with Fractional T1 CSU/DSU
Description: DTE side
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1544 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set
[code]....
My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. The linecode, framing, data-coding, and timeslots must be set the same on both CSU/DSUs.Four-Wire 56k CSU/DSU Configuration For my network connection which type of config i should use??Secondly i try to connect these ports by normal crossover cable it did not work.So for this type of connection i know i need T1 cross over cable-- which has RJ 48 connections at both sides.I check cable from ebay which is RJ45 RJ48 cross over -- will this cable work in my router to router connection.

Just to get this clear as having issues with a E1 link with CRC's at one.Router A,Network-Clock-Participate WIC 1,Should router B have clock participate for WIC 1? We currently have controllers set as UNFRAMED but guess we can set to NO-CRC4 both ends and telco will pass this.

securing a back-toback connection using E1.The connection is between two cities, using 2x CISCO 1841 router + VWIC-1MFT-E1 interface at each city.
The E1 connections has been provided by our local telco, and they are completely private. The customer is a bank, and they asking me if this is a secure connection or not. If possible, we need to guarantee that no body can get access to the bank network even if they brought E1 modem at one of the ends (telco PoP).

I am setting up my lab using two 2901 routers which is running on 15.2 IOS.I am trying to simulate a back to back BRI.BRI Module: WIC-1B-S/T-V3 (x2) one of each router.
I followed this amazing document to understand the concept of BRI and configuration. url..but it never says if i can use the module that i have mentioned.
Q1. What cabling i need to use to setup back to back BRI using 2x 2901 routers with these modules?
Q2. What cabling do i need to use.
Q3. Is it actually possible to use these 2 modules alone to simulate a back to back BRI..?

I have been having a weird connection issue for a week or so.The problem is at the first time i boot up my modem it simply cant connect.DSL Line LED keeps blinking- handshaking and training as it says in modem config page. After maybe 5 minutes or 2 hours, totally random. It picks up the connection, i can use it for hours until it randomly drops down once again.Ive contacted my ISP and they came over two times, they state the line quality is not suitable for my connection speed and it will be solved if i drop down my connection speed.Doing that is a painful process cause there is no other speed/quota package suitable for me, so i wanted to ask you people about it before i take action.
My modem is a Dynalink RTA1320 and i tried with another modem, tried mine in a friends house.Plus i went to the place where the cable enters my house and tried over there too, it didnt work as it should pick up in about 20 seconds. Here are stats my modem shows in the config page.[CODE]

I have a ASA 5505 configured with three VLANs: Inside, Outside, and DMZ.I am running an exchange server on the Inside network and have configured NAT to allow connections to it from outside. This works fine. I can also happily connect to it using it's internal address from the inside. In the DMZ I have setup a linksys router to work as a guest wifi network. I configured the ASA to block any traffic from the DMZ to the internal network. This has been working fine for the last few weeks.Wireless users cannot access any internal resoureces, but can browse the internet etc.. etc..
My problem is that I want users to be able to connect to the wireless with smartphones, tablets etc..., if they do so, they can access the internet, but not get their email. From my (limited) understanding, the problem is that the ip address I am trying to connect to is the same ip that I am transmitting from. Is there any way to send the packets to the outside network and then loop them back to the exchange server?

I recently replaced a client's router with a Cisco RV 120W. The client employs a web-based application on an internal server that manages their business. Workers in the field use a handheld device power by WIndows Mobile to access a mobile version of the the web-based app. Data contained on the mobile app syncronizes with the server when workers choose a sync menu. Some workers perform this sync in the field, others wait till they return to the office and use the wireless provided by the router. Prior to changing the router, the synching worked fine either inside or outside the company network. The mobile app accesses the internal server via the router's public IP address. The router forwards the http requests to the internal server. But now the synching does not work internally. I assume it's because the Cisco RV 120 W does not support NAT Loopback, or I simply haven't figured out how to enable it. Does anyone know how to enable NAT Loopback on the RV 120 W so I can access the web-based app by through the router's external IP while on the private side of the LAN??

we are busy with a local service provider ( ISP ) and they want to evaluate the SRP500 series and have a few questions that i cant answer clearly.
Can the router auto provision back to the ISP's site , aside from the USB bootup option. i.e manufacture programmed "version "to dial into a specific ISP to provision.
Central administration of SRP500 series: Can the ISP manage and update/ close down SRP500 from a central point. I know the TR069 is std on the SRP500 series, but what does this encompass.

I am trying to make this router prefer Wan1 for outbound while listening to both WAN ports for Inbound. I set it to Load Balance mode and added in a rule for Protocol binding:
All Traffic( TCP & UDP/1-65535)>192.168.1.1~192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN1 ENABLED
This says bind all Outbound traffic to anybody to WAN1
My Wan 2 connection is over satellite so it is easy to tell if a ping is going over Wan2 because the latency is >600mS
If I start a continuous ping to outside site - eg Yahoo.com then if I Fail WAN1 I see the ping latency Jump from 30mS to 700mS as it starts to use Wan2. If I restore the Connection to Wan 1 then the pings stay on WAN2 - seemingly forever. If I stop pinging for 30 mins then a restart of pinging does use Wan1 - so it fails back eventually If I restore Wan1 and then remove Wan2, it fails back right away
My problem is with our VOIP which uses a connection keepalive so there is no real downtime for the router to release the path to WAN2 should it fail over how I can force the router to fail back to Wan1 without removing Wan2?

I am currently working on a project which purpose is to establish a TCP connection between a PC and a microcontroler.I configured (in C language) the µC as the server, and the PC as the client (in C#, using the TCPClient class). While running the codes, I capture the frames on the network with Wireshark. The client's ISN is chosen randomly by the TCPClient.Connect method.Since there will be only one TCP connection at a time, the server's ISN is always 0.The server's port is 0xC0C0 (49344) and the client's port is also chosen randomly by the TCPClient.Connect method.find the screenshot of the Wireshark's capture attached. In compliance with RFC793, the three-way-handshake should conclude with an ACK segment from the client. In my exemple, the client tries to connect three times, and then drops : the client sends no ACK segment. The µC's SYN-ACK reply may be bad configured .What kind of information did I miss ? Are there special data the client is expecting ? Why don't I get back an ACK segment from the client?

I have an iPad that uses an app to control the house. I create a dyndns url to maintain connection to the house from the outside world. When I bring the iPad onto the internal network, the url routing fails. Externally, it works fine. I think it's some sort of protection that is configured within the router.
Proper configuration to allow the URL to kind of loop back onto itself, when it's in the house? Where, in the configuration, this is set to prevent this kind of routing?

We've recently sold and implemented a wireless solution using a WLC, WCS and 1140 APs.
There is a HQ site where the WLC, WCS, DNS and DHCP reside. Active Directory and a RADIUS server are also located there. There is then a WAN link to remote sites which sometimes fails. At the remote sites you'll just have a router, switches and the APs. The intention is for the APs to work in lightweight mode, falling back to H-REAP when the WAN link fails. That works fine, but what doesn't work fine is the APs rejoining once the WAN link is restored.
They just don't. Even days later, the APs are still all disassociated from the controller despite the WAN link being up. I've 'hardcoded' the controller IP into the AP configuration, while the APs initally get the IP for the WLC from DHCP using Option 43. Despite the APs therefore knowing where WLC is, once they're disassociated from it (WAN link failed) they will not reassociate by themselves. Restarting the APs is the only way to get them to rejoin.
With hundreds of APs and in excess of 30 switches, restarting all the APs each time the WAN link fails is pretty ridiculous.
I've logged a TAC case and gone through the whole rigmarole, this is an offical bug and Cisco have informed us that it's due to be fixed sometime early 2011, but besides that there is nothing they can do. So to be perfectly clear, Cisco have sold and shipped a product that doesn't work as advertised and they best they can offer us is a promise to fix it soon. I'm pretty shocked, I've never had this experience with Cisco in the past.
Ok, so now I've got to come up with a decent workaround until we get a firmware release where this is fixed. I'm looking at using CNA to automate the reloading of all the switches, I guess when an outage is reported I'll just write a procedure for the client to follow to reload all their APs.
A script that can query the associated status of APs and reload them as needed, automatically, would be pretty cool. Perhaps that can be done with SNMP.
