My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. The E1 connections has been provided by our local telco, and they are completely private. The customer is a bank, and they asking me if this is a secure connection or not. I'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.
Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.
I am setting up my lab using two 2901 routers which is running on 15.2 IOS.I am trying to simulate a back to back BRI.BRI Module: WIC-1B-S/T-V3 (x2) one of each router.
I followed this amazing document to understand the concept of BRI and configuration. url..but it never says if i can use the module that i have mentioned.

What the little green/red light is on the back upper left corner of the switch is? It inside a little mesh and I belive it says vt_fail next to it.
Had water get on our switch over the weekend and this guy goes red when I fire off on demand diagnostic, but not relevant errors in any of the logs. Haven't gotten to the point where I am putting data back on the switch yet.

I have a cisco 800 that needs to be reset back to factory defaults. I tried typing in "config factory-default 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0" at the conf t prompt, but I got an error Invaild input detected at ^ (the ^ is just under the word factory). So after a bit of reserch I came across this command "write erase" that seemed to do something but now I can't get any ip addreses. Here is the running config:

I have my laptop and my Xbox 360 currently hooked up to this router trough ethernet cables (yes I know it's a very old model, but it's all I have for the time being). I'm having issues with connection that I know is on the router end because the router I had before (that has now gone bad) connected fine, but this one has issues. Literally almost every hour on the dot, the connection goes out and will immediately come back on as soon as I simply unplug the router and plug it back in. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of 3750x switches that each have a 10 gig routed link back to a central 4507 (loopback = 172.30.255.255).We carved up a /24 (of course, the /24 doesn't really exist except in our address tracking spreadsheet) into a bunch of /30's for routed WAN links and /32's for loopback addresses.We started on the low end for /30 subnets (ie 172.30.255.0/30, 172.30.255.4/30, etc.).We started at the high end for the /32 loopbacks (ie 172.30.255.255/32, 172.30.255.254/32, etc.)
Well, when I try pinging 172.30.255.255 from the access layer 3750x switches, the 3750x seems to be treating it as a broadcast ping where it lists each member that responds instead of the regular !!!!! response (this makes think something is odd with the 3750x). Of course, only one member responds (the core). But even the core seems to respond with the other end of the /30 instead of the actual /32 loopback (which makes me think something is odd in the core). I could have sworn that I've setup similar topologies without problems (ie, using 10.0.0.0/32, 10.255.255.255/32, etc as loopbacks) and as long as the mask is a /32, it should work.Also, I can ping/ssh to that loopback if my laptop is on a directly connected subnet. But I can't do it from any of the 3750x switches (which are also directly connected).I've double checked for overlapping subnets, but nope. I don't see any. Routing looks fine. The actual /32 is being propagated everywhere properly.
I have a network that has a pair of 6500 switches on either end, running HSRP. In between each 6500 are two to three ruggedcom switches. They are connected to each other and the 6500's by trunk ports in a straight line. The 6500's see each other as CDP neighbors, and the 6500's can see the rugged- com as LLDP neighbors (ruggedcom only supports LLDP).
The issue is that randomly devices on the ruggedcoms will drop offline and then come back. The problem is that the devices that drop offline are all in the same VLAN, so it appears like a virus - i.e. one device drops off, then multiple. Eventually the HSRP starts flapping between the two 6500s and this causes havoc on the network.I'm almost to the point of taking a laptop and plugging it into one of the ruggedcom's to see traffic, but the issue is that the ruggedcoms are outside in cabinets that laptops shouldnt be exposed to.
The following error was seen on the switch and the Diagnostic Test Loop back failed following a new WS-6748-SFP module installation.Fabric in slot 5 detected excessive flow-control on channel 3 (Module 4, fabric connection 1)
Tried Hard reset of the module and still the error persist.
We recently extended our access layer using a pair of 5ks with extenders. We have a pair of 6509s at our core and they handle the intra-VLAN routing with SVIs. I recently noticed that access hosts connected to the extenders cannot pass traffic between each other if they are in different VLANs. The strange thing is these same hosts can ping devices in other VLANs as long as the other devices are not connected to the 5k environment.
For example, consider the following hosts. Each host has their gateway set to the appropriate SVI on our core.
HostA - VLAN100 - connected to 5k extender
HostB - VLAN200 - connected to 5k extender
HostC - VLAN100 - connected to 2960 off our core
HostD - VLAN200 - connected to 2960 off our core
Each host can ping each other with the exception of HostA and HostB. As for specifics, we use HSRP (no VSS) between our cores.
When I ping between hostA and hostB, I see the egress packets on either 5k1 or 5k2. I then see ingress AND egress on Core1. There are no ingress packets on 5k1 or 5k2.The egress packets from Core1 show the correct destination MAC address of the target host. The mac address table shows the mac address on po31.
I'm having with VSS Failover. Currently I have two 6504's setup for VSS with one connection to the sup engine (10Gig__Connection) and the other connection on the Module 3 10Gig Blade and the same setup on the other 6504.My question is: If the active 6504 has a power outage or the link on the sup engine goes down, and the standby 6504 becomes active, what happens when the Failed 6504 comes back online with a higher priority and preempt set? What happens with the 6504 that took over as Active and now eeds to go back to Standby, what's required?
What I'm seeing is once the Standby took over and became Active in order for him to go back to Standby mode it's asking for a reload to take place is this NORMAL?

We can see that 2691 and R4 are BGP neis and 2691 has 200.1.x.x routes in its route table. My question is why from 2691 router i am unable to ping any route learned by BGP from R4?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a lab setup to take my CCNA and CCNP and I'm having issues trying to get WAN connectivity back to a switch at the end of my network. My lab environment consists of 1 - 2950 switch, 1 - 2620 and 1 - 2621XM. I have 1 Ethernet connection from each router to the switch and 1 serial connection from the 2620 to the 2621XM. I have the serial interfaces in a shutdown state right now so there is no loop since I do not have Spanning tree setup on the ports on the switch yet.
Right now using the fast ethernet ports on the routers and I have no issues its when I shut down those Ethernet ports and try using the serial interfaces when I start having issues. So my network layout is Ethernet from switch port f0/4 to port f0/0 on 2620 and serial from s0/1 on the 2620 to s0/2 on the 2621XM. My 2621XM f0/1 is whats connected to the WAN and I have no issues getting to the WAN from my 2621Xm or my 2620 but when I try pinging any website or even my WAN default gateway from my switch I get nothing!
Ive also noticed that when I do a IP NAT translation (after accessing the WAN from my 2620) on my 2621XM the source IP is of my serial connection not the ip of my 2620 router? I have my default gateway on the 2620 as the the IP of my serial interface on the 2621XM and vice versa because my LAN network is 172.16.1.0 and my WAN is 172.16.9.0. I have a /31 setup between my serial connections 172.16.11.0 (s0/1) is on the 2620 and 172.16.11.1(s0/2) is on the 2621XM. I used the SDM (ver 2.5) to setup NAT to have f0/1 with Nat outside and s0/2 as Nat inside. Encapsulation is HDLC between the serial links. Ive attached the running configs of the switch and routers.
A customer wants to get the back-plane load of a cat4506-e chassis with a sup6-E supervisory card.A would like to check how many bus are used on the backplane and if the command "sh envi chassis" is the good and only command to be used ?I'm not sur that there is only one bus on the cat4506-E as with a sup7 card the backbone speed can change.

I dont have an internet connection through my computer. This one tells me error 106. I have 3 computers hooked through the same router. So, I know I have internet, as I am writing this now. But for some reason, that computer is now telling me I lost the internet connection. I have tried unplugging everything, restarting the computer, and nothing has worked. I dont know how to get the internet back on that computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having a weird connection issue for a week or so.The problem is at the first time i boot up my modem it simply cant connect.DSL Line LED keeps blinking- handshaking and training as it says in modem config page.After maybe 5 minutes or 2 hours, totally random.It picks up the connection, i can use it for hours until it randomly drops down once again.Ive contacted my ISP and they came over two times, they state the line quality is not suitable for my connection speed and it will be solved if i drop down my connection speed.Doing that is a painful process cause there is no other speed/quota package suitable for me, so i wanted to ask you people about it before i take action.

I have asa 5505 with security plus license, I configured dual ISP with two different ISP provider. I followed below cisco document to configure dual ISP [URL] The Configuration works during the testing, while removing the primary ISP cable from firewall. The problem i am facing is my primary ISP is down but the gateway is still up and it not switch over to backup ISP. For SLA which IP should i monitor so once my primary ISP is down it will fallback to Secondary.
