View 8 RepliesI've had the DIR-655 for a few months now, along with a Motorola Surfboard sb6121 DOCSIS 3.0.Modem works fine, the router was working perfectly fine until recently last week.
I have a desktop hardwired and a wireless network going on that I use just for my mobile phone and tablet at times. At first I was having disconnection problems with my wireless, then noticed a neighbor installed a similar router in the area according to my wifi analyzer, so I changed the channels and my wireless started working great. During this process I also did a firmware update and since then I've been receiving some really poor browsing problems, sometimes I'll visit websites like Facebook, or a news website, and it'll say something about the DNS not working, (at this point I'll ping the website and it still pings fine without any loss) so I'll visit the website about 10 minutes later and it works great. I've done extensive research on forums/Google and found it must link up to the new firmware update and something about a DNS relay? My version is: Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.10NA
In other words, is there a way I can fix this issue from disconnecting without having to downgrade back to the old firmware? Or is this a common issue they'll continue to happen? If I do downgrade, HOW do I downgrade back to the stable version?
i have been living in China for some time and bought a DIR-600M router from DLINK while I was there. While a friend configured it for me and everything was fine, i would love to have an english version of the firmware.... i have searched everywhere but couldnt find any english version for this particular model..I have tried to download and install the American version of the 600 model, but it seems as it does not accept this version as it always jumps back to the chinese version after rebooting....

My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. View 1 Replies View RelatedBRAND NEW DIR 655. Took a bit to get working. Connected at 300mbps beautifully. Then I started to notice I was lagging--I checked my connection speed and it's back down to 130mpbs.I made sure to do WPA2 only, 20/40 range... I don't know what else to do to make it "stick" to the speed I want. It's obviously quite capable of it. If I reboot it it connects at that speed.... it just randomly reverts back to 130.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble getting two Cisco 888's to work correctly back to back.. The two routers will ultimately be used in conjunction with a BT EPS8 circuit which is effectively four wires short distance between customer sites. We have configured lots of these using the older Cisco 878's.
Anyway, as i've been struggling to get line sync on site I've gone back to basics and connected the two 888's back to back. However, I've found that no matter what I do I can only get the routers to sync at 384kbps!? And that's with a one meter RJ11-RJ11 cable.. Very strange. When we've used the 878's we get much more bandwidth. I have tried statically assigning the line rate at both ends but it still only works at 384kbps.
I live in a Townhome complex so inSSIDer displays a lot of wireless activity. I have noticed that many of the routers channels are listed as 6 + 2, 4 + 1, etc., while show only a single channel. I have been able to "temporarily" replicate this by setting the Channel Width on my DIR-655, by setting channel width to auto, and when I am successful it displays a speed of 300, both in my task bar and in inSSIDer. However, that is usually short lived and the channel for my router reverts back to a single channel and the displayed speed drops to 130 or 144. My neighbor's Netgear is rock solid at displaying dual channels. Well, that and besting my signal strength. :-)
I have the router manually to channel 8 because none of the routers, judged by their displayed strength, use it.So, I guess my question is; how do I stop my DIR-655 from dropping back to using a single channel, which I interpret 20MHz, even though it is set on auto?
ISP Virgin Media who ship DLINKS without any assistance for custom options, I seem to be having no end of trouble trying to get my DLINK615 and Xbox to play fair.In order to allow me to play my Xbox without any technical problems, or problems with other players I had to open up a few ports, been there resolved that. But, I only want to open them on one IP I want to always be assigned to the Xbox360. This IP being 192.168.0.100
I added that into the DHCP Reservation list, only to find that the Xbox failed to reconnect after being turned off and back on, I believe this is a problem with the DLINK Router, unless I am very badly mistaken.
We purchased a Dlink 655 for its secure spot features only to very disappointedly discover that feature discontinued. All we needed was a subset of SecureSpot's features.

We have spent hours trying to get wallwatcher to work and that is not the solution we are really looking for. We want to the router to have an easy to read URL history, such as we saw online before we bought the DLink 655.

I have a very simple setup with a desktop PC, router, Time Warner cable modem, and the only device that accesses the router is my Droid phone. I shut my PC down every night. The next day when starting up my PC, there's no internet connection. I haven't fooled around with any router settings, but what I've been doing to re-connect is unplug the cable modem power cord and router power code, wait a minute, then re-plug them back in and it connects right away. Is there something easy that I can do/repair to correct this? Maybe I should check if there are firmware updates?

For instance, I have a dyndns address of ericnewton76.dyndns.org. This points to my router. Works fine if you're NOT within the router's internal network, ie, outside hosts can get in just fine (try it... http:// , you'll see an IIS7 welcome screen)
However, when INSIDE the network, the requests don't get connected properly, and they used to... ie, I work with code, so my svn repo is at ericnewton76.dyndns.org/svn but inside my network it doesn't connect properly anymore (whereas it used to before firmware update)
So now I wish I could back-peddle to 1.0 firmware.
he will lose connection with his chat programs for like 2 minutes then automatically be signed back on. He says he notices no other connection loss, but notices that sometimes his streaming will lag or games will lag. His ISP is Armstong (?) and he's wired to the router. XP OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI adapter on my Windows XP Home SP3 desktop computer that has been working flawlessly for months, until last night when it suddenly stopped being able to connect.I was just on the web last night doing what I normally do, and all of a sudden out of no where I lost internet connection and I couldn't get it back. I've tried resetting the router downstairs, I've tried restarting and shutting down the computer, and did three system restores (that all failed anyway), and none of these things are getting my connection back. Now also for some reason I can't even open up my network adapter's wireless network manager anymore because it closes itself not even a second after I boot it up.The modem and router downstairs look perfectly fine and all the other computers in the house, even the laptops, can all connect but mine, so something must be up with my network adapter.

There is allot of devices connected, which may affect the speed, but I am sure it shouldn't change upon reboot. I literally reboot every hour or 2 during peek periods.

In fact if I ping any bogus name, I mean anything, it returns this same address 62.116.181.25. If I shut down my cable modem then everything resolves correctly. And yes I have DNS relay enabled because it seems to be the only way to get the workstations to resolve external sites correctly.

Writing this hoping to see how DLink intends to respond to this very large hole. As someone who works in security this is 2 week old news to me but is probably new to everyone else "Hopefully not dlink devs".
So the DIR 825 along with millions of other routers are vulnerable to an outside upnp exploit basically means somebody from outside can root your router and for example open up whatever ports they want. Upnp has its own issues but it useful for those who don't want to open up a port every time some app might need a specific port but was never meant to be accessible from outside your network, Until now.
This is not some bizarre proof of concept or something that is even hard to pull off and what it would give is access to your entire private network and everything that might entail. You can test if your router is vulnerable at this link. It's owned by Steve Gibson. Many of you probably know of him, Somewhat of a celebrity in the security world. There is a upnp exposure test you can do right off the main page. It also explains whats happening and even shows you the code being used, Quite fascinating actually.
