I have a router that needs to be reset to get the internet speed back to a usable speed. It is a fairly old router (D-LINK DSL 2730B) and it does get quite annoying. There is allot of devices connected, which may affect the speed, but I am sure it shouldn't change upon reboot. I literally reboot every hour or 2 during peek periods.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Main computer (which has a wired connection to router) internet is running so slow, i mean so slow that i cannot even do a speed test, it keeps failing, im continuously getting server timed out messages when browsing, and to watch a youtube video of 1 minute long it will take about 5 - 10 minutes to stream it before i can watch it. However despite the above the two laptops and ipad work great, i have a braodband speed of around 16megs. Now here is everything i have done so far. After calling my ISP to se if it was their fault, which it turned out not to be, they got me to change all the DNS and IP settings to manual, they gave me all the numbers to put in. Again that did not work so i used namebench to find the quickest DNS servers for me, that didnt work ethier so i just reverted all settings back to automatic as they were before.

They connect to a wireless network provided by a D-Link DI-524 router (802.11g), which in turn connects to a DSL modem (10Mbps/1Mbps link)
Copying files between those machines, either through scp or mounting a share via NFS or Samba, is very slow (at most 200 KB/s) and sometimes fails (times out), even when both machines are inches away from the router. However, downloading files on either machine works correctly at the expected speeds (~1.2 MB/s).

I was having an issue with Comcast phone and internet services.Comcast had me disconnect and reconnect my modem and router. When service came back to normal one of my network connections was no longer available to me. I have two connections (one for use at my home which is a secured one) and one I use when I go to my sons home. My computer now only allows me to connect to a network called "Linksys" which may be available to the public. The connection I want to use shows up if I go to control Panel/View Network Status/Manage wireless network, and it is the first choice on the list, but the computer always uses the unsecured "Linksys". I am running a home network with a wired desktop connected via ethernet, two laptops, one desktop and three ipods connected wirelessly to the router.The problem is that at seemingly random times during the day the ability to connect to the internet is lost on all devices (wired or no). I also often lose the ability to connect to the router's homepage (settings) and upon inspection have found that when I ping the router I get time-outs (or sometimes destination host unreachable). This occurs on both wired and wireless at the same time and usually lasts anywhere from 10seconds to 10minutes at a time. I have reset the router numerous times including a reset via the web browser, unplugging the router and reconnecting and also have done a factory reset to attempt to solve the problem - all to no avail. As I am writing this I am using a different older router that so far (as of an hour) has not had the same issues.I should also mention that this happens regardless of which devices are currently on the network. I have had this problem with the wired-connection by itself and with my wireless laptop by itself.

I had good performance with the E1000, and I only upgraded to the E1200 because it was on sale.My only complaint with the E1200 is the slower download speed on my desktop PC that is connected directly to the router. My normal download speed on the desktop PC was 25 Mbps with the E1000 model. After I disabled the WMM on the E1200 as others suggested, the download speed on the desktop machine immediately increased from 5 Mbps up to 15 Mbps. Any other suggestions to get the download speed up to 25 Mbps before I switch back to my E1000? The E1200 router is connected to my Arris TM602G modem. Both modem and router were reset during the installation process. I setup parental controls for a couple of iPods and configured Open DNS, but other than that, the router is using default settings. All wireless devices in the house seem to be performing fine with the E1200.

My provider is cable, Brighthouse, hooked up to their Scientific Atlanta modem and from there it is hooked up to a Belkin Connect N150 wireless router. I am not using the wireless on my laptop but am wired directly to the router. [code]
I have had the DIR-825 since the beginning of the year connected to AT&T DSL Internet 3GB. I just upgraded to their 6GB download speed and didn't see any change in speed and suddenly I couldn't view my SlingBox anymore outside the house. I connected one computer directly to the modem, ran the AT&T speed test and got >5GB download and @700 upload. Wired via 1GB network back to the router, ran the speed test and it dropped to @4GB download and 120 upload.
I called AT&T, they checked everything, and said there was nothing wrong. I then spent almost an hour on the phone with D-Link including getting passed to 3rd level support. I knew something was wrong when the guy told me that since it was only a 1GB router, I shouldn't expect to get faster than 1GB Internet download.
The router is still running the 1.00 firmware and these are the changes they made me try so it's still sitting at these settings:
- Change the WAN from Auto 10/100 to 100 only.
- Change MTU to 1482 in my PPPoE settings
- Change Firewall Settings to turn SPI off. He said the router is still providing a firewall though.
He wanted me to download the 1.01 firmware but I balked and he said it probably wouldn't do any good. It ended with him wanting me to call AT&T back and set the modem to bridge mode. I then need to call them back and set the PPPoE again. This 3rd level support guy was very rude and am hoping to avoid calling them again.
Before I go through the hassle of calling AT&T and trying this bridge mode, or has the Elite 6GB service from AT&T and are having it work correctly.
I have been having this problem randomly on and off the last week or so. If I type facebook in any of my browsers it comes back with the connection has been reset. If I use hidemyass I can get onto facebook though. My partner is having the same problem. I haven't got a firewall blocking facebook and it works sometimes and other times it doesn't so I am unsure what the problem is.

I have a cisco 800 that needs to be reset back to factory defaults. I tried typing in "config factory-default 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0" at the conf t prompt, but I got an error Invaild input detected at ^ (the ^ is just under the word factory). So after a bit of reserch I came across this command "write erase" that seemed to do something but now I can't get any ip addreses. Here is the running config:

I use a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Wireless-N PCI adapter on my Windows XP Home SP3 desktop computer that has been working flawlessly for months, until last night when it suddenly stopped being able to connect.I was just on the web last night doing what I normally do, and all of a sudden out of no where I lost internet connection and I couldn't get it back. I've tried resetting the router downstairs, I've tried restarting and shutting down the computer, and did three system restores (that all failed anyway), and none of these things are getting my connection back. Now also for some reason I can't even open up my network adapter's wireless network manager anymore because it closes itself not even a second after I boot it up.The modem and router downstairs look perfectly fine and all the other computers in the house, even the laptops, can all connect but mine, so something must be up with my network adapter.

After I arrived from a trip, the internet speed by wireless and by cable is only 0,5~0,7 Mbps...
My internet connection is 10 Mbps, and if I plug direct on the modem, there comes the real speed (9,7 Mbps), but connecting by the router, the speed is 1/20 of what should be. Before my travel i was using it normal, and no one has changed any configuration.
So i've updated to the last firmware avaliable on the website. So i've rebooted it and the "configuration" LED keeps flashing...

My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically, my issue stems from the latest Boxee firmware from 2 weeks ago, that since then, its been causing my DIR 655 to reset itself, thereby disabling my whole home internet. It eventually turns back on again after a while, but the process doesn't stop.Basically, my DIR 655 is connected, hard wired to my boxee. I also have a NAS 323 hard wired to my router. I've had this setup on my boxee, reading all my movies/shows from my NAS without any issues for the past 10 months. Then the firmware from 2 weeks ago on the boxee started to cause my router to reset. I thought it was a hardware router failure, so I bought another of the same model to try that out, same thing happened though. When I rolled back my boxee firmware to the previous version, it no longer causes my router to reset.Now, besides me trying to figure out how to correctly block the boxee from updating on the router. Is there anything I can do on the router to tell it to prevent it from letting the boxee forcing it to reset? I'm on High Speed DSL. My internet provider modem is acting as a bridge to my DIR 655. Basically, I've put my boxee back to my previous firmware, and this doesn't cause my router to reset and disable my internet. But I don't get how/why a firmware update can trigger my router to do this?
Hi guys. I'm running Windows Vista SP2 on a Dell Laptop XPS. It seems there were some viruses on the system which I have cleaned out, I believe. I have restored some issues with damaged registry and the system seems to be working great other than I cannot get a strong connection to the internet. It will open up when I first log on, but then the connection is intermittent at best. If I log into safe mode with networking then the connection is perfect, no problems. What I can do to restore the connection to the internet?

When I normally start my pc i cant access the internet. I use the built in diagnostic problem program. First it tell me to reset my winsock cause somethings wrong with it, and I do, but then after i restart my pc i still can't connect to internet . So i run the diagnostic thing again and it says something like "contact the person that manages your windows product support or go online to support.microsoft.com/winxp" and I did and nothing worked. But for some strange reason I can access the internet when i run my pc in safe mode with networking. So how can i fix it so than i can access the internet in normal pc mode...? I've tried alot of programs and different form of resetting it in the command prompt.

We currently have the 54G plugged into our LAN, the Ethernet cable plugged into one of the Ethernet ports, not the Internet port, on the back. It is giving wireless clients IP addresses according to our main LAN DHCP, as if they were hard-wired which is correct. Bad thing is, I have no idea what IP address is/was assigned to the 54G itself as it was not logged when done, way before my time. I cannot log into it and take a look at its settings and attempt to mimic what is going on in there on something like an E1200.
Therin lies my next questions. What could be occurring on the 54G that is enabling it to dish out like a WAP and does the E1200 support WAP function? If not, which models do that can be added to the 54G?
I have a CISCO modem from SHAW set as bridge. I recently bought a CISCO EA4500 which got automatically upgrade to the current Firmware 2.0.37 after connecting it to my ISP. After a few days I noticed my internet speed was slow. When I checked the router I saw it flipped from 1Gb to 100Mb. Called Shaw they could not figure this one out, while waiting I decided to turn everything off / on and internet port came back to 1Gb. 2 days later same thing again, I just turned off both the modem and EA500 router. A couple of days later again same problem but this time I just turned EA4500 off/on and internet port came back on with 1Gb.Otherwise I will have to turn this one back in to the store for an exchange.

Recently I have noticed my internet get slow. I use a comcast cable internet connection that is directly connected to my dlink DR 655. I use the megapath internet speed test [URL] when testing my internet speed. Have a laptop that is usually on wireless and an XP workstation that is connected to the 655 directly with static IP.
I would be browsing the internet and all the sudden the internet would get really slow. This would happen on both my desktop and the laptop and my speed test on both machines would be around .3 Mbps. When this happens I would go and connect the laptop with the ethernet pot directly to the modem. Of course a reboot of the modem has to occur before a connection can be made so once I do that all the sudden my internet is back up to par (12 Mbps). I go ahead and put my network back to the way it was and it all goes back up to 12 Mbps. I have called comcast several times and they are telling me it my router.
This picture shows a snapshot of some windows from the laptop. The CMD ipconfig on the bottom left shows the laptop network settings when connected directly to the modem. The CMD ipconfig on the upper left is the network settings when connected to the router. The web page on the right shows the WAN network settings when the 655 is connected to the cable modem.
Notice the DNS servers, they are different when the 655 is connected to the modem versus when the laptop is connected to the modem. Could this be part of my problem? I have not seen were I can manually change 655 DNS entries ... is there a way to do this? Or should I not even be worried about it?
I recently update my DIR-825 router firmware to the latest one and now the upload and download speed is went downhill on all computers. There are 2 to 3 laptops, one desktop, wireless printer, xbox, ps3, and ooma voip phone connected. Everything is all connected wireless except the ooma device is hardwired.

I started configuring with cd but i couldn`t get past the step where it should verify if cables are plugged in , so I did it manually. Some pages won`t load , internet speed is slow ( Both wireless and lan speed ) . I am using a PPPOE connection , I even got my ISP to check my settings, and he said it was alright but it reduces my speed by a lot. Usually I download with 1 MB/s with the router on wi-fi I hardly get 50 kb/s and on lan max is 100 kb/s.
