Internet Works In Safe Mode With Networking But Not Normal?
Jun 28, 2012
I have ran Superantispyware and malwarebytes and have not found any known issues on my comp. I am running Windows 7 starter on my netbook. Here is my hijack this log[CODE]
three days ago my internet worked just fine. now when i came home again, it will only work in safemode with networking.im using ''windows 7'' on a ''Dell Inspiron 660-6823'' and the internet is going wireless
I have a Windows 7 HP with intel pentium my Internet only works in safemode with networking. Orignially it worked when I used internet explore 64-bit but eventually that stopped working as well. I have 3 accounts on this computer and I need safemode with networking for all of them. I do have both mcfee and norton anti virus i was told that may be the problem however, I do not know how to install either of them.
I am not able to connect to any webpages in normal mode, even after restarting i still have the same problem [However it works in safe mode with networking]. The network connections show that it is connected and the signal strength is excellent. I then have to keep restarting the laptop like 3 to 4 times and it works. Its kind of frustrating to keep doing this all the time and besides i am scared by restarting the laptop so many time can harm it.

I have tried everything to find out what is blocking my internet connection from working in regular mode for more than 30 seconds. My internet connection works just fine when i boot in Safe mode with networking and thats it.what is blocking my internet connection on my computer! here's my hijack logfile if you need to look at it Running processes:
my internet only works in safe mode with networking but outside of safe mode i dosent work and i cant use the internet as i have seen in other cases they asked for a hijackthis scan so i done one and ask if you wish
I am unable to connect to the internet unless in safe mode. If I disable my firewall in normal mode I can connect but it seems a bit slow. I have used Hijackthis and it gave me a log file which I can paste if needed. To analyse this tool has not highlighted anything that is dangerous. Why I can't connect to the internet?
Worked fine and then all of a sudden the Internet didn't work anymore. So I ran the computer in safe mode and it works fine, but still no luck in regular mode. Ran worm removal and spybot but nothing has worked. Also the windows bar is missing now for some reason. Windows Xp Service Pack 3.
Yesterday I picked up a laptop of a friend of mine which had some problems with the Internet connectivity. Turns out, Internet only works when booted in Safe Mode, however, it does ping in Normal Mode so there is connectivity. Tried IE and Firefox, both do not work in Normal Mode and do work in Safe Mode. MSN Messenger won't work in Normal Mode either. After carefully checking the Windows event logs, it looks like some services are not booted in normal mode.I have executed the following steps and measures in order for me to see if I would be able to fix the problem myself.
1) Boot in Normal Mode: - Checked the settings of the adapter, no exclamation marks or other problems. - Installed Revo Uninstaller Pro > Uninstalled all present antivirus program - Installed Microsoft Security Essentials - Ran a Full scan with Microsoft Securty Essentials; 1 virus > removed (just a virus which gives pop-ups) - Installed CC Cleaner, cleaned the whole system - Shut off all antivirus programs, IE and Firefox still not working.
2) Looked for extra information:cmd > Ipconfig/all Normal Mode [code]
We bought a Dell XPS 15 laptop a few weeks ago and it has been working perfectly until yesterday. The internet (wifi) is connected at a strong signal but will not access unless it is in safe mode with networking. All other devices are working fine on the wifi (ipad, iphones).
Yesterday, My internet kept failing when i was watching youtube videos,so i had to keep toggling the wifi on my laptop. Now ,my network keeps saying no internet access, yet my phone has no issues with the wifi. No, i dont have or use Mcafee. I ran malwarebytes but it didnt find anything. Superantispyware keeps crashing (I dont run both at the same time.)
My Internet only works in Safe Mode (Networking). Firefox Mozilla & Internet Explorer are both not working in normal mode, when I open network connections my internet is active & is CONNECTED but when I open Mozilla or Internet Explorer it says
Since last night, my laptop has just been acting up and being very sluggish. In normal mode, I can connect to the internet fine, but nothing will load. The only way I can get it to work on normal mode is if I clear all of my private data before restarting my laptop, and even then it will only work for a few minutes then stop. Also, when I go to open chrome, it'll usually takes a few seconds before opening, and may even completely freeze up. The only time where I can actually get it to work reliably is when I open up safe mode with networking. I'm afraid it might be a virus or something but I've run scans and everything and nothing has come up.
I'm visiting my mom for the holidays and so of course I got roped into her tech problems. She has an emachine with windows 7 that won't browse the internet even though it appears to be connected. The internet works fine in safe mode. She didn't have any antivirus software (in fact, she doesn't have that many programs at all) so I downloaded malware bytes and the scan came back clean. She has Hughesnet (the satellite people) as her ISP and she says that the problem started after they upgraded her modem.I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be, since all the google searches I did on the topic seemed to be some kind of problem with antivirus software (having two conflicting, or some kind of wonky settings) or a virus, neither of which seems to be the case.
Just finished building my new computer yesterday - i installed windows 7 and all the motherboard drivers etc - everything went smoothly. I then plugged in my ethernet cable but saw that in normal mode my computer had very slow internet. I went into safe mode with networking and tried the internet there and it was its normal speed. Obviously something is booting up in normal mode that is stopping/limiting the connection. I uninstalled norton (came with the motherboard drivers) using the uninstall norton tool, i also uninstalled any other virus protection and disabled my computers firewall but to no avail - it's still real slow.

I have a problem with my internet connection, I live in the university dorm and I connect the internet by wire. When I start the computer on normal mode, the internet is very slowly and sometimes disconnect, and few times just work fine ( doesn't last more than 2 minutes). however, when i put it in safe mode with networking, it works perfectly. Not sure what is the problem.

So I am having issues connecting to the internet. I can connect during safe mode but not on normal boot. I ran a diagnostic and it said that the IP Gateway failed. I read a previous post and did the command promp "ipconfig/all" and this is what it said:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:UsersEbony>ipconfig/all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Ebony-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid[code].....
I have norton, and have recently run Malwarbytes, Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool, and Dell PC Tune Up
I have a 512MB USB Flash device and was able to boot the IOS on the C2960 from it.After that i tried to Copy the IOS file from the USB to the system flash, but it could not find the USB Device. At plugging in the device the systems tells me: "Transfer type 2 not supported" I configured the USB device in NTFS and FAT both are able to boot with the ROMMON, but the normal system does not accept them and i know i can do the copy over a TFTP from my laptop, but it is strange that rommon accepts the usb device and the system does not?
I have a laptop (let me call it A) with Intel Centrino 1030-N wireless (iwlwifi module), running Arch Linux, and another laptop (I will call it B) with Atheros AR928X wireless (ath9k module), running Ubuntu 11.10. They connect to a wireless network provided by a D-Link DI-524 router (802.11g), which in turn connects to a DSL modem (10Mbps/1Mbps link)
Copying files between those machines, either through scp or mounting a share via NFS or Samba, is very slow (at most 200 KB/s) and sometimes fails (times out), even when both machines are inches away from the router. However, downloading files on either machine works correctly at the expected speeds (~1.2 MB/s).
I ran iperf, as recommended in a comment, and it gave me this: [code] The bandwidth is very low, as can be seen from those results.
Hi guys. I'm running Windows Vista SP2 on a Dell Laptop XPS. It seems there were some viruses on the system which I have cleaned out, I believe. I have restored some issues with damaged registry and the system seems to be working great other than I cannot get a strong connection to the internet. It will open up when I first log on, but then the connection is intermittent at best. If I log into safe mode with networking then the connection is perfect, no problems. What I can do to restore the connection to the internet?
When I normally start my pc i cant access the internet. I use the built in diagnostic problem program. First it tell me to reset my winsock cause somethings wrong with it, and I do, but then after i restart my pc i still can't connect to internet . So i run the diagnostic thing again and it says something like "contact the person that manages your windows product support or go online to support.microsoft.com/winxp" and I did and nothing worked. But for some strange reason I can access the internet when i run my pc in safe mode with networking. So how can i fix it so than i can access the internet in normal pc mode...? I've tried alot of programs and different form of resetting it in the command prompt.
I can only connect to the internet via IE9 in safemode with networking. This is my parents PC. As a side note I was able to connect in normal mode with Firefox V4 but accidentally updated to FF12 and now it won't work either. HJT log posted below. I've tried reseting and reinsatalling IE9, flushed the DNS, reset TCPIP. Still nothing.
My daughters laptop will not connect either wirelessly or via cable apart from in Safe mode with Networking. It has been working fine for over a year and she has not made any radical changes recently and all other devices in our house work and connect fine. I have run various checks including Malwarebytes and their root checker all comes back clean. It is finding the connections fine, just says No Internet access. It is a HP Pavilion g6 running Windows 7, the ipconfig /all is as follows?
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:>ipconfig /all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Danielle-HP Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
can open in safe mode only. This is my son's laptop. Yesterday it started not opening up Internet explorer. I ran Mcafee last night. I can open Internet explorer in safe mode but not regular. I checked the proxy it is checked. I am uncertain what else to look at.
I was unsure whether to post this in networking or the XP forum. I am fairly computer literate, but have hit a stumbling block.
For over the last month I have been getting download speeds of 1-2mb on my 10mb connection via speedtest and other speed checkers. However, if I use safe mode, I get 10mb straight away. Virgin Media (my ISP) have been out and plugged a laptop into my connection and they get 10mb straight away.
I have tried both IExplore and Firefox. I have zonealarm firewall and avast antivirus. I have ran a boot-time AV check. I have also ran spybot and malwarebytes which all found nothing.
I have tried completely disabling my anti virus & firewall and running speed tests - still the same. I have tried using msconfig and disabling all but core components - still the same.
My pingtest just came up with this:- Packet loss test: FAILED (I do have java installed), fails on IExplore and Firefox. Ping: 895ms Jitter: 1413ms
I'm having a little trouble with one of the computers on our home network. It's a desktop computer running Vista, connected to the router by cable. I'm told the internet connection was working fine one night, and the next morning, not at all.
All of our other devices (laptops, etc) connect through the wireless just fine, and I tested the wired connection on another computer with good results. The desktop computer will only connect when in safe mode. In the regular mode, it shows a local connection only, but I cannot ping the other computers in the network.
I ran full scans with McAfee, Spybot and Malwarebytes to clean out anything dodgy, but still no change. I tried turning off McAfee's firewall (and then the whole program), but that didn't make a difference, either. I'm not sure what's suddenly blocking the connection.
Here's the ipconfig/all results:

I recently bought a new Dell XPS Ultrabook 13 with i7 processor. It worked fine for about three weeks, then all of a sudden it refuses to connect to the internet. I am still connected to my wifi network, but the network and sharing centre shows the connection as dropped between the hub and the internet. Troubleshooter offers no answers. I know other Windows7 users have experienced this and so I have ALREADY done the following:
Tried accessing the internet in safe mode with networking. This works, so it is not a hardware issue. I can definitely access this web in this way.Rebooting my wireless router etc. I know this is not the issue though, as other devices such as my iPhone can still access the web through it (and the XPS, in safe mode)
Possible spy/mal ware. I think this is unlikely. A) the laptop is new b) I am extremely careful on what I download c) I have run repeated full system scans with both my preloaded AV software (McAfee) andMalwarebytes anti-malware. Neither has unearthed anything at all. Not a single item, and they both are checking against the latest databases.
I ran msconfig and deselected all startup programs and services except MS ones. I also downloaded and did similar through ccleaner. No joy.I checked devices through device manager. All devices seem to be working normally. No conflicts. I disabled and enabled the network wifi miniport adaptors. Again, nothing. The most frustrating thing is that I haven’t actually made any system or setting changes recently, so I don’t understand how this could suddenly have just happened. My only suggestion is that I downloaded the usual round of MS updates the other day.
