I have not yet hooked up my router, N150. What I would like that after I hook the router up and then deside I don't want to use it. How do I disconnect it and go back to using my DSL modem and being connected to the internet?

My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?
I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem.My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. (all connected wirelessly)
I've had my DIR-601 for almost a year now and it's been working near flawlessly until just recently. I have a very simple setup with a desktop PC, router, Time Warner cable modem, and the only device that accesses the router is my Droid phone. I shut my PC down every night. The next day when starting up my PC, there's no internet connection. I haven't fooled around with any router settings, but what I've been doing to re-connect is unplug the cable modem power cord and router power code, wait a minute, then re-plug them back in and it connects right away. Is there something easy that I can do/repair to correct this? Maybe I should check if there are firmware updates?

I'm using a 3020 to bridge 3/4G to the ethernet port on my computer. Things work fine until I also join wireless hosts (like an iPhone or iPad). The routing of traffic to both the ethernet and wireless hosts seems to cause the 3/4G router to lose the signal and disconnect all hosts. I'm using a Verizon LG USB wifi device that is on the compatible list of 3/4G devices. I'm using the latest version of the firmware on the 3020 (I believe the date is Sep 2012).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had trouble with my Comcast Xfinity internet service and called to have them send a refresh signal. I was up and running again with my ethernet, but my wireless service using a Belkin N150 wireless router hasn't worked.From everything I had read I needed to do a hard reset of the Belkin N150 router and then reconfigure it's settings. Well I did the hard reset and power cycled everything, the modem, computer and router. I then plugged in everything again and connected the modem to the WAN on the router with one cable, and the computer to the LAN on the router with another cable. (I am using a Macbook Pro operating with Mac OSX). Now I cannot connect to the url...to configure the settings on the router at all!
I think the problem has something to do with my IP address. I opened the network settings and saw that my IP address is 50.138.25.x while my Subnet Mask is 255.255.254.0 and the router is being listed as 50.138.24.x. How to change this IP address to get my router connected or could it be another problem?
I have a sb 6120 modem and a wireless router that have been randomly dropping and resetting. I thought it was happening with increased bandwidth usage, but it doesn't appear to be linked to when I'm downloading or gaming. Just in case, I set up port forwarding for my games but no change. I have swapped out wireless routers and directly connected to my modem and it still happens. I have spoken with my ISP and they can't see that I have lost connection even while I am currently disconnected. My stats look good with my downstream power stable around 4 or 5 and up around 38. Also, I have pinged my modem and each computer connected wirelessly and show no packet loss.

It does connect and work well until there is another modem in the neighborhood coming online.The task bar icon shows I am still connected but the connection is gone. When I connect the adapter, after a while, the 3g modem disconnects and turns red, and the modem connection software says it cant find the usb 3g device. My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. There is allot of devices connected, which may affect the speed, but I am sure it shouldn't change upon reboot. I literally reboot every hour or 2 during peek periods.

The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem.Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

If you were not connected when this happens, you can connect just fine. This happens with all devices in the house, my laptop, my DAP-1522, my cell phone, and my brother's Mac (SMH, sometimes I think we aren't related...). I am running version 2.00NA on B1 firmware.

Don't bother to do any troubleshooting because DAP-1522 A1 only support 802.11 draft n and incompatible with 802.11 n. If unit still under warranty then call D-Link and request unit replacement and ask for hardware reversion B1.

I buy this model is QOS, I just read a lot of DIR-655 streamengine article, it's hardware-base QOS router, can operate under heavy p2p application, it's why I am here.The wireless Client is ACER AS1810TZ laptop, the wireless card is Intel wifi link 1000, I have already disable power saving option. AS1810TZ worked fine with my old 802.11G router linksys WRT54GS and Buffalo WRH-HP-54G.The dir 655 seems fine when I just surfing web and download some files with IE, but when I check the statistics, I see a lot of wireless error and tx packet/ rx packet dropped, the percent I calculate is about 0.5%, I am wondering if it's normal phenomenal?When I download several bit torrent files With XUNLEI simultaneously, total 6 files, after 3 minutes, lot of session be created, the router slow down the download and finally crashed, wan be reset and wireless connection lost. router can recover after 1 minutes and try to continue the BT download again, but failed again. First a bit of background. At the end of December, my centurylink modem finally had enough problems with disconnects(was 6 or 7 years old), and Centurylink sent out a new router/modem. The new modem/router, a Zyxel, worked great, and all was good in my house hold. Then I got the bill and found out that unlike the previous modem they had sent me, this one I was paying a lease payment for. At which point I returned the Zyxel which gave us the best service we'd ever had, and bought this TD-W8960N. The reviews were glowing, setup was easy, but we started rather quickly to have disconnects. A call was made to Centurylink and they confirmed service was working, and since the modem/router was not theirs, referred us back to you. I called and after considerable time on the phone, all I was basically told to do was a hard reset to the modem. When the unit finished booting back up, internet was restored. Of course it was restored everytime we reset it for a while. At that point I was told that since the unit was working, that there was nothing left to be done. Since that time, it has disconnected us from time to time, and then in the last 2 days, sometimes it won't stay connected for more than a couple of minutes. My wife is very unhappy-she is a gamer, and a disconnecting internet is very very bad for an online gamer.
It seems that the further it gets away from a hard reset,the more it disconnects. After 6 soft resets (unplugging) today, I had to do another hard reset to get back on to register here and post this message. Is this a known problem for this unit? Is there a fix for this unit? Or, do I just need to return it to Newegg and try another manufacturer?
Again, the "leased" Zyxel gave us no problems for the month or so that we used it.
