he will lose connection with his chat programs for like 2 minutes then automatically be signed back on. He says he notices no other connection loss, but notices that sometimes his streaming will lag or games will lag. His ISP is Armstong (?) and he's wired to the router. XP OS.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased the DIR-615 last week, and have experienced intermittent loss of internet connectivity, and automatic rebooting numerous times a day. A solid connection is up for 90% of the time; but you never know when connection will be lost. When connection is lost it automatically comes back after about 5 minutes with the router rebooting itself. I though I would ask for assistance here prior to taking it back to Fry's. I was previously using a 6 year old Linksys, and had no problems for years until it recently decided to die.

It seems to happen only when connected through our rooms or through wireless. When I connect directly to the router I don't lose connection. The router is downstairs and it routes the wired connection through a switch. So when routing through the switch or using wireless the connection is lost and re-connects about every 30 seconds to 1 minute. When directly connected it works fine. I've reset the router and reset all settings twice and nothing. I'm using 10/100. Not sure if any of this matters. I have also updated the firmware to 1.35NA. PPPOE password and username are correct as they have been given by our ISP. Any settings I should be aware of? Everything is pretty much default. All I do is setup the internet connection and then setup a wireless connection. Are we overloading the system maybe? I've also changed the password a few times as well. Seems like the logs fill up really fast. Keep getting blocked UDP and TCP packets from different addresses.

I've configured eigrp on the headends so I can test the 881s using eigrp. They seem to be fairly stable and are getting all the redistributed routes from ospf but, I've noticed when I show the eigrp neighbors the uptime will indicate that it is resetting every so often. Sometimes the routers that are using eigrp have a uptime of 12 hours and some will resett after a couple of hours. So, I started logging. [code] why I could be losing the adjacency and then getting it back right away?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI started using a D-link 2750U wireless modem-router about 2 months ago, and configured it using the given disk for my ISP (MTNL Delhi). Since then, it has never retained a connection for more than 10 days, give or take i.e starts showing a red earth light instead of a green one. I usually reset it to factory settings and reconfigure it using the same disc over and over again, but now it has started dropping connection more frequently.Recently, it developed a new disease. Connection is very unstable now. Through line, it keeps disconnecting every 4-5 minutes. re-connects and dies again itself and does not work through wi-fi at allMy hardware quality healthy as I ran a wired connection for over 3 years without any trouble before this one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a DIR-655 about 8 months ago. I had no problems connecting to the internet for the first couple of months. Then I would get a random connection problem where I would reset my modem or the router and all would be fine for a while. Then about a month and a half ago it started getting worse and worse and about 3 weeks ago it got to a point that I was resetting the router or modem daily to get a initial connection to the internet. And that would last until the next day when we would try to access the internet. Ocassionally, if I had a good initial connection, I would get a random loss of the connections a minute or two after I started surfing the web. Initially a modem or router reset would clear this up too. This happening both over wireless and through the hard wired connection. So it doesn't matter how I am using the Router. AND, most recently resets may not even get me a solid connection to the internet. So, I have bypassed the router for now.
The router was set up with changes to only passwords, network name, a changed router IP address and not broadcasting the wireless it has worked fine. After the reset, I left the router IP address as the default but changed the above security settings. Nothing else was changed. I have never had any issues logging into the router menus through the default or my defined IP addresses.
In doing some troubleshooting, I performed a reset on the modem several times, none of which resolved the problem, I was still losing the connection. Then I bypassed the router and did a direct connection to the modem and all is good and I have not had a connection issue since. I even tried changing the Ethernet connection on the back of the home computer to a different computer port but that changed nothing. I am currently trying a different cable. I am using the standard connection scheme:Cable from outside to modem, modem to router via Ethernet into the proper router port, Router to static computer via Ethernet. And a laptop accesses through the wireless. All cables have been working fine and are home built CAT 5e cables
It is really frustrating and I am not sure where to start now. Currently, I am running without the router for internet but I need it for the wireless to a laptop in another room. I use Time Warner Cable and have a Atlantic Scientific DPC2100 cable modem.

recently i bought wireless router TL-WR841N and there hasn't been a day or should i say few hours without restarting/turning on-off.I have cable(no modems,etc)Longest time it has ran without restarting was around 20hours.The problem is it RANDOMLY looses connection like this , but it's not the only problem , mostly when i leave computer and go to sleep or other business i leave router turner ON (no else have access to it and no one touches it), when i come back it just does not connect to internet, it shows that everything is fine , but i have no access to internet.This happens to all connected computers.I have dynamic ip I have russian version of windows xp sp3 , but i think everything is pretty understandable here. connection timed out/request timed out

FYI the problem is not in my computers(i tried setting up wireless networks from 2 different pc's) and i'm pretty sure it's not ISP's fault too(everything works fine through cable) , because this never happens with other wireless networks, etc.
I have the same issue and have been surfing the web for the solution for quite some time. Brand new Sony VAIO laptop with blu-ray has an Intel WiFi bgn 1000 wireless network adapter. It worked fine for couple of days, until i brought it to work. We use wireless connection in our office. Maximum 7 computers are connected at a time. All other 6 laptops connect to our network with no problems (all of them are on win7x64). Now, back to the problem. Wireless works at home and at work in the evening , when no one in the office. I've removed all 3rd party software, uninstalled Intel software. Am using clean driver from the Intel website. Tried different revisions of the driver - issue is still there. I've contacted VAIO support. This is not known issue to them. They offered standard actions (unisntalling the driver, power management options, enabling VAIO Smart Network). No updates of fixes on their support website. I have also checked in the event viewer. There is only one service being enabled and disabled constantly (TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper) - which is happening at the same time with wireless drop. There are about 5-8 drops per minute. Computer browser service disabled. Firewall disabled, antivirus disabled. We assume this could be an interference with mobile diveces. While now, we have disabled all wireless cards on all computers, switched off mobile phones. And... AXAXAXAXA!!! BSOD 0x00000018 (0x000....00, 0xFFFFFA800754A750, 0x00...02, 0xFC01020EFC01020B).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't have access to my config at the moment and I haven't had a chance to get to the console of this router as of yet.A little background info:This is a Cisco 1941 router in which I have multiple NAT inside interfaces for internal VLANs. Before my current problem I was using one NAT outside interface for Internet access with another NAT outside connecting to our corporate network that was in a shutdown state.The router is performing router on a stick and had layer 3 subinterfaces for each VLAN. I have ACLs filtering on each subinterfaces allowing only the traffic I need through.I also currently only have one static NAT port for an FTP server.The time finally came when I had to connect our corporate network to this router via an access port on a 2950 which trunks to the router.The problem comes when I send any traffic to the subinterfaces on the corporate network which is the second NAT outside interface on the router. The main point for this connection is to do a static NAT from this interface to a web server on another VLAN. Any traffic to this interface including just pinging from the outside causes connection to the router to fail for about 3-4 min.Like I said I haven't ha the chance to get to the console yet Sony cant tell everything that happens. Nothing shows up in the logs after I can get connection back and the router didn't reboot as a "show version" says the router has been up for a long time.The CPU is also usually very low as not that much traffic flows through this router at a time.I built a very similar network in packet tracer and it works just fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
I'm having an issue with a 2 week old WMP54G pci adapter. The behavior is as follows: I get a successful connection and excellent speeds, but every 10 seconds it stops transmitting and drops off the network for a moment. Then everything comes right back. 10 seconds on, drop, 10 seconds on, drop.I've investigated possible sources of interference, but there aren't any strong networks coming though on the same or nearby channels. Moreover, other devices sitting in essentially the same spot are connected consistently and show no variation in the signal strength.
Other info: OS is Ubuntu 10.10, the machine is a Dell GX270.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new 601 vers. A1 F?W 1.01NA.I tried the link from FuzzyNuts and read the disclaimer. However, page 10 of the 601 manual actually shows a similar "how to".My lan allocates addresses automatically between 100 and 200. Through cat5e I connected an XPPro sp3 comp lan port to the #1 lan port on the 601. I can log into the 601 router and disable UPnP and Save. But each time I try to do step#3, uncheck DHCP Server and Save, it says "successful",counts down to 0 but when I click on "Continue" it won't. When I try to get back into the 601 router again I get a "no or low connectivity " message.I have tried re-setting the router many times and then I can get back to the same step and it fails to continue each time at the same point.
All I am looking to do here is get a better AP signal in one corner of the house where fridge and cupboards block good reception from the DIR-655 and I have an Ethernet connection available at that location to connect the 601 if I can fix this.
I recently went through removing some trojan files and malware on my computer with Kevin over in the Virus and Malware Removal section and my computer but the one thing that is not the same now is my wireless internet connection. I have a Netgear wireless adapter. Before I was using the Netgear utility to connect and now that's not even opening at startup just using the Windows Internet Connection utility, which is fine with me but it just won't connect automatically at startup. My question is that cisco website says there are two type of cable connections for this type of config --which are --T1 CSU/DSU ConfigurationSet one CSU/DSU to clock source internal, and the other CSU/DSU to clock source line. Whenever I try and hit the Repair function,it will get stuck on Renewing your IP address for a moment, then change to: Windows could not finishing repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Connecting to the wireless network. I have internet connection on this same computer.Another point to make is that when I click Repair and navigate to the Network Connections window, then hit F5 ( refresh the window ), the wireless connection will quickly refresh and connect normally without error.I won't have to open the Network Connections page and hit F5 anytime I need to repair the connection? Also, as of right now, it's still "Acquiring network address" even though I'm connecting and typing this message.

Then I started to notice I was lagging--I checked my connection speed and it's back down to 130mpbs.I made sure to do WPA2 only, 20/40 range... I don't know what else to do to make it "stick" to the speed I want. It's obviously quite capable of it. If I reboot it it connects at that speed.... it just randomly reverts back to 130.

This is to connect two separate LANS together via an ethernet connection. For staging we are setting everything up with a crossover cable in our shop. Ultimately the crossover cable will be replaced by a microwave link between the two LANS several miles apart. There will be no internet connection.
