Feb 8, 2012I have a WCS, four 5508 controllers, Cisco 3750X switches, and both autonomous Cisco 1200, and LightWeight 3502i in service.The problems I am having, is that some of my Access Point reset for no apparent reason, and I get alerted by my NMS.When I look at the switch port, that connects an access point that reported down, I see the POE switch port went down and back up in 4 seconds, just long enough for the access point to reset.There are no errors on the switch port(s). No cable or speed/duplex issues. Switch IOS: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.se1
There are no other pertinent entries in the switch log. Just that the port went down and then back up. Always in 4 seconds.When a reset happens the WCS reports on the access point: '802.11/b/g/n' interface of AP associated to controller 172.20.0.x is down. Reason: Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported.But nothing else, except that the radio came back up.
This is happening two or three times a day, and rotates. It seems that it never happens at the same time of the day, or the same access point, or the same switch. (I have over 1000 access points and 500 switches in service)I am curious if the WCS is automatically resetting the access point radios, which is causing the switch port to go down/up?And if so, is it possible to turn off the automatic reset?

Aug 31, 2011I have a few questions about the Cisco WAP2000 we setup for our customers that I have experienced as of late.
1. The AP is prone to reset automatically; what causes the access point to do this and how can this be prevented?
2. The AP has the SSID and the encryption reset back to factory defaults, however the IP address does not get reset. What would cause this?
3. Is it possible to use 2 of the Cisco WAP2000 as a repeater to increase signal strength of another Cisco WAP2000 that has interference from another stronger signal?
D-Link DIR-615 :: Wireless Router Continuously Resetting Itself When Turned On
Jul 21, 2011I have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.

Yesterday I got a new TP-Link TL-WR1403ND Wireless N router. And after trying for ages to try to connect my Galaxy Nexus and iPad (both Wireless N devices), I finally called the TP-Link Support.Both devices could see the wireless, but would never let me join.Anyway, support told me to try connect a laptop if I had one, which I did (a very old one) and it also could not connect. The first thing the tech got me to do was set the mode from mixed-b/g/n to mixed-b/g. This got it to work, and the tech basically said � there you go, works. But the main reason I got this router was to use wireless n.Anyway, I told her that was not acceptable, she then told me to set it back and change the security to WPA-PSK (it was WPA2-PSK). I did this and she also told me to disable WMM.Anyway that worked, so I was happy. I then went and change the security back to WPA2, and it still worked. So the main issue stopping me from connecting to the WiFi from my devices was WMM.So after all that... I looked up WMM, and can see it basically a QoS feature. So why does it not work with my phone, ipad and laptop? I have searched the net, and from what I can see, it is a very Important thing to have WMM turned on. So why won't it work with my devices? All three of them can see the wireless network, I can put the password in, but then they don't connect.I am on the latest firmware (can't check the actual name and version as I am not at home), so is there something wrong with this particular router? Is it a known problem? Do I have a faulty unit?

I bought new smartphone - Sony Xperia U, it is with android 4.Until then I have not any problems.As soon as i activate wifi on phone - all wifi on router is down, i cannot even ping it over wifi.Ping via lan interface is ok.Tried different channels, different max speeds, but nothing works.Only everything works if i have switch router to be only B/G.

i bought the TL-WR841N a week back. the problem is that the internet connection has a web based login( wherin i have to go the "login.hathway.com" and enter a username and password provided by the service provider). i was wondering if there is anything i can do so that the wifi router on its own can log on to my account automatically every time i connect a device to the router. Jun 14, 2011I log onto other wireless networks the first time by inputting their passwords. My iphone then always automatically reconnects wirelessly to them without have to input the password again. The phone can be asleep for a few minutes or I can be gone for a month. The phone always automatically remembers & reconnects to these networks.However, it doesn't work that way with my d-link system @ home. Everytime the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the wireless connection is lost. There is no automatic reconnection. I have to input the password each time in order to re-establish the wireless link. My printer and laptop seem to stay connected. d-link settings I need to change in order to get my iphone to automatically connect all the time?

The DIR-655 is in the basement and has my PS3 and Xbox hard wired to it.I've got playon server setup on my pc upstairs which is connected wireless to the Actiontec router. If I connect my ps3 wirelessly to the Actiontec, it immediately sees the playon server and streams movies without issue. However, when I hardwire the PS3 to the DIR-655, it will not pickup the playon server connected to the Actiontec router.I've got dhcp turned off and multicasting turned on under advanced settings of the Dlink.

Jun 21, 2011ISP Virgin Media who ship DLINKS without any assistance for custom options, I seem to be having no end of trouble trying to get my DLINK615 and Xbox to play fair.In order to allow me to play my Xbox without any technical problems, or problems with other players I had to open up a few ports, been there resolved that. But, I only want to open them on one IP I want to always be assigned to the Xbox360. This IP being 192.168.0.100
I added that into the DHCP Reservation list, only to find that the Xbox failed to reconnect after being turned off and back on, I believe this is a problem with the DLINK Router, unless I am very badly mistaken.

all my systems are configured under "IP & MAC Binding". Binding is activated globally and all check marks for every ID are set. After i finished my configurations, the "ARP List" status shows, that everything is bound - so far everything is great. The problem appears after a router reboot or after shutting the router down and powering it on again. The "ARP List" then shows only a few of my IDs and their status is unbound. I need to go back to the "Binding Settings" and hit "Save" - after that all my IDs appear in the ARP-List and everything is OK again.
D-Link DIR-615 :: Wireless Setup After Reset?
Feb 23, 2011I need to reset my 615 remotely. I will have someone on the other end push the reset button. I will then need to have them login to the 615 wirelessly. I'll establish a remote control session to their computer, and then I'll reconfigure the router settings. I know how to reconfigure the router just fine.
1) How long do you press the reset button, the manual says 10 seconds, is that correct?

2) Once reset, is wireless turned on by default? I hope so, but the manual shows ENABLE WIRELESS unchecked... is that the default setting? Do I HAVE TO CONNECT VIA LAN CABLE TO "ENABLE WIRELESS" first?

4) is the SSID invisible by default, or is it visible immediately after RESET?

The person on the other side can't access the router with a LAN cable, so once reset, the only way to get into the router will be via wireless; that's why I want to be sure I can do this before we do the reset.
D-Link DIR-601 :: LAN Allocates Addresses Automatically Between 100 And 200
Dec 8, 2012I have a new 601 vers. A1 F?W 1.01NA.I tried the link from FuzzyNuts and read the disclaimer. However, page 10 of the 601 manual actually shows a similar "how to".My lan allocates addresses automatically between 100 and 200. Through cat5e I connected an XPPro sp3 comp lan port to the #1 lan port on the 601. I can log into the 601 router and disable UPnP and Save. But each time I try to do step#3, uncheck DHCP Server and Save, it says "successful",counts down to 0 but when I click on "Continue" it won't. When I try to get back into the 601 router again I get a "no or low connectivity " message.I have tried re-setting the router many times and then I can get back to the same step and it fails to continue each time at the same point.
All I am looking to do here is get a better AP signal in one corner of the house where fridge and cupboards block good reception from the DIR-655 and I have an Ethernet connection available at that location to connect the 601 if I can fix this.

May 31, 2012I purchased the DIR-615 last week, and have experienced intermittent loss of internet connectivity, and automatic rebooting numerous times a day. A solid connection is up for 90% of the time; but you never know when connection will be lost. When connection is lost it automatically comes back after about 5 minutes with the router rebooting itself. I though I would ask for assistance here prior to taking it back to Fry's. I was previously using a 6 year old Linksys, and had no problems for years until it recently decided to die.

I recently bought wdr3600 and just trying to configure bridge through WDS configuration. I just enabled WDS and picked my initial wireless router after clicking the Survey button, then save it. After the reboot, I cant seem to ping/access 192.168.0.1 and the wireless SSID cant be seen any longer. I tried doing the reset button for 30secs but looks like nothing is working and not resetting. And I am still getting 169.254.x.x

May 30, 2011I have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?

Mar 4, 2012 I have DIR-655, 1.33NA. Recently, I noticed the clock in the router was off, so I wanted to correct it. Each and every time I go through the steps to reset the clock, using time server or clone computer time, or manual reset, after the save settings and reboot of the router, i find the router still displays the wrong time, and frequently reverts itself to a time on Feb 22, 2012. Same problem for trying to reset the DST settings, turning automatic time from server on and off, changing the time server polled. Additionally, I have forced the router to factory settings and rebuilt all of my configuration no less than 4 times.
So, since I recently had to trade out the cable modem because Cablevision fried it with their 'system upgrade', I'm also wondering if the same shenanigans also damaged the router.
