Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Does WCS Automatically Reset Radios

I have a WCS, four 5508 controllers, Cisco 3750X switches, and both autonomous Cisco 1200, and LightWeight 3502i in service.The problems I am having, is that some of my Access Point reset for no apparent reason, and I get alerted by my NMS.When I look at the switch port, that connects an access point that reported down, I see the POE switch port went down and back up in 4 seconds, just long enough for the access point to reset.There are no errors on the switch port(s). No cable or speed/duplex issues. Switch IOS: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.se1
There are no other pertinent entries in the switch log. Just that the port went down and then back up. Always in 4 seconds.When a reset happens the WCS reports on the access point: '802.11/b/g/n' interface of AP associated to controller 172.20.0.x is down. Reason: Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported.But nothing else, except that the radio came back up.
This is happening two or three times a day, and rotates. It seems that it never happens at the same time of the day, or the same access point, or the same switch. (I have over 1000 access points and 500 switches in service)I am curious if the WCS is automatically resetting the access point radios, which is causing the switch port to go down/up?And if so, is it possible to turn off the automatic reset?
One week ago I use a WLC 5508 to place and replace another WLC 5508 with version 6.0.199.4, when I conect the new WLC all AP´s works OK only 10 dont work and not are recognizes from the WLC with version 7.3.101.0. The fail is the radios stay disabled. All ap´s are AIR-AP1242G-AK9 . See the image below, the only difference this ten AP´s are conected in switches cisco all the rest are connected in switches of ohter vendor. I have a few questions about the Cisco WAP2000 we setup for our customers that I have experienced as of late.
1. The AP is prone to reset automatically; what causes the access point to do this and how can this be prevented? 2. The AP has the SSID and the encryption reset back to factory defaults, however the IP address does not get reset. What would cause this? 3. Is it possible to use 2 of the Cisco WAP2000 as a repeater to increase signal strength of another Cisco WAP2000 that has interference from another stronger signal?
We have 2 Cisco 5508 WLCs, each wtih 50 licenses. What I would like to do is split the 50 odd APs between the 2 controllers load balancing the traffic. If a controller goes down or there is a break in the path all APs would failover to their configured secondary controller. So far so good.
However there seems to be no way to 'replicate' the configurations between controllers unless I setup HA , but as I understand it HA is Active /Passive, so essentially, unless you get a failover situaltion, completely 'redundant'.
Is there a way or either replicating between controllers automatically with out HA, or is there a way of making HA Active / Active?
We have a Cisco 5508 controller with 1142 LWAP's running version 7.4.100.We have several Dell laptops which will not associate to the access point UNLESS you stand directly underneath it, power off the wireless, turn it back on then eventually the PC will associate to the AP.Once the PC is associated to the AP and user is authenticated then all is well.
Have tried updating the wireless drivers downloaded from both Dell or INTEL. This does not happen to all of our laptops. However, without making any changes to the WLC or the PC's, we have begun to expirence this problem with laptop which previously did not have this issue.
we have two WLC model 5508 with software version 7.0.116.0 (25 ap supported for each), i tried to add a new access point air-lap1131ag-e-k9 but after five minuts (maximum) the ap reboot, i replaced :
- power injector - AC/DC adapter - patch ethernet - switch port - switch - ip of the access point - reset a default of all access point i tried - reboot of both wlc
I took the ap and connected directly to the switch (with or without power injector), but the access point reset with this reason.
I am using 5 Cisco 1200 Series APs with both an A and G radio. Is there a benefit/problem to running both simultaneously? I would have one SSID and is setup for Fast Roaming as well.
My co-workers and I have been trying to diagnose a problem that recently started occuring on our AP1141N and AP1142N units. I have found a handful of posts that talk about this issue, but none with a solid solution. It seems that as often as every 24 hours, the radio interfaces change state to down, for seemingly no reason. Once this occurs, the only way to bring the radio interface back up is to reboot the AP. As far as we know, this wasn't happening until recently, when we enabled the "N" speeds. Things were working correctly for a year or two while the APs were configured just for b/g operation. The following is the only seeminlg-relevant thing that shows up in the logs:

Some additional info:
- All of the APs are connected to PoE Cisco c2960 switches - We have tried both hard-coded radio channels, and non hard-coded - We have tried various ways setting power inline negotiation - We are not using a WLC - System Software Version: 12.4(21a)JA1 - Bootloader Version: 12.4(18a)JA3
I have attached output of sh run, sh log and sh controlers dot11Radio0. (Another oddiy - the line %DOT11-2-RESET_RADIO hasn't shown up in the other logs I have viewed after this issue occurs...)
I've got a HTTP Redirect to a dedicated html site with our internet usage policy set up on multiple WAP4410N access points.This is working like a charm with laptops, but not with internet radios. They can't connect to the internet probably freezing on the http redirected site.Is there any way to exclude these devices from the redirect?
i noticed that the 1242AG does not bring up the Radios, when there is a Power Injector connected.I see in the Logs of the AP:

The Module in the 6500 is a WS-X6348-RJ-45 The Option "Power Injector installed" on the WLC is also enabled, with the MAC Address from the Switchport, but no change.When i disable CDP on the mentioned Switch Port and reload the AP, it comes up and runs fine.
I'm trying to configure Cisco 1262 AP's to allow me to use the 2.4 gHz radio for client access and the 5.x radio for the repeater connection back to a root AP connected to a LAN.
I have already configured the AP's to associate with each other via the 5.x radio, and have a client connected to the repeater AP via the 2.4 gHz radio. From my laptop on the LAN, I can connect to the repeater AP, but I cannot ping nor otherwise communicate with the distant client.
When I use the 2.4 gHz radio for repeater mode, clients that connect to the repeater AP can be seen and communicated with.Is there something special that needs to be done to get my desired scenario to work?All radios are members of bridge group 1.
We are required to change passwords every so often at my job. I am trying to change the password for one of the local user accounts on a 5508 WLC running 7.0.98.218 - How can I accomplish this task? The option I get is to remove the users.
I am trying to enable the workgroup bridge mode on the 5ghz 802.11N radio of a Aironet 1262N, but when I select the workgroup bridge mode from the GUI the radio becomes disabled. If I select the Access Point role from the GUI then the radio instantly becomes enabled. The same thing happens if I attempt the same procedure with the 2.4ghz radio as well. I can get the radios from both bands enabled if I select the Access Point role. I made sure to check that both radios were not set to workgroup bridge as well. I am running 12.4(25d)JA1 code on the AP. This is my first time working with this type of AP.
I just installed an E3200 to replace my old Linksys. All my Nooks, IPADs, laptops and desktops are connecting wirelessly fine. However, I have 2 Wi Fi Radios that will pick up the network but will not connect and go into a network connect time out. One of the radios also has a hardwired connection and that is working fine. I have checked and double checked the network name, WPA key, etc. Of course I have reset all the radios and reenter new data many times, both manually and auto.
I've got a Cisco 2504 wireless controller, and I'd like to rename the AP name in the overview (at Monitor > AP's > Radios) so that I know which unit is placed where and hence be able to troubleshoot more easily.I haven't found any info about this, and usually that means it's not an option, right? I realise the AP name field comes from the device itself, but it seems impossible to rename the device too since I'm running on lightweight, correct?
Cannot connect network radios after upgrading to latest firmware. Could connect before upgrading firmware but throughput was slow for computers and streaming. Now I can connect computers, but not radios. They connect ok using Belkin and Linksys routers.
I'm setting up a Cisco wireless mesh. The APs are all dual-band 3602s connected to a controller. So, let's say I'm broadcasting both 2.4 and 5.1GHz at the same time for the same SSID. Which frequency does a wireless client connect through, assuming the client supports both? Is there a way to default to one (say 5.1GHz) then fall back to the other, or is it strictly a matter of signal strength? (In which case, from the testing I've done, 2.4GHz almost always has a stronger signal strength.)
Or, should I broadcast separate networks (e.g. "work-network24" vs "work-network51") and manually authenticate/authorize against the appropriate band based on how I want to distribute load across the radios and spectrum?
I have 2 wireless dvd players. In the past they automatically connected to the network on startup.I was making adjustments on the netgear wndr3700 router while experimenting with some cameras.Now I need to use the WPS option on the dvd player and then run to the router and push the WPS button.hen it connects.
I've been configuring hundreds of 3602i APs via Prime without incident, but I've encountered 2 APs that get to the ap: prompt and doesn't proceed further. If I type boot, then they'll complete the boot process.
How do I configure these 2 APs so they will automatically boot fully?
Every time I restart my computer, it unchecks the "connect automatically" box. I have to manually connect to my wifi. I go in and check the box agian just to have it uncheck next time I boot up. My wife has the same laptop that I do and hers doesn't do this. I'm guessing it must be a setting somewhere?
I recently went through removing some trojan files and malware on my computer with Kevin over in the Virus and Malware Removal section and my computer but the one thing that is not the same now is my wireless internet connection. I have a Netgear wireless adapter. Before I was using the Netgear utility to connect and now that's not even opening at startup just using the Windows Internet Connection utility, which is fine with me but it just won't connect automatically at startup. I have to go manually hit connect and enter my key for it to connect.
I am testing our new wireless network using 1 Cisco 2504 wireless controller with 5 licenses 4 Cisco Air LAP 1142N Access Point I configured it very simple for testing There is only one interface and vlan is untaggetd There is also only one WLAN with one SSID Currently security setting is WPA + WPA2 + PSK (I also tested with no security setup) Wlan session time is diabled and controller user idle timeout is set to 1000000 (Max)AP boot version is 12.4.23.3 and ISO version is 12.4(23c)JA3 Problem is clinet(iphone) does not automatically associate with 1142N Access Point even after it learned network. Phone has to be authenticated again to connect to network same iphone can automatically associate with old 1220 Access point but not with New AP if I urn off and turn back on wifi from iphone, it does see the network but does not connect but I have to manually reconnect to it with password I want iphone to connect known network without reauthentication process after iphone's wifi function is turn on?
I used to have ATT DSL but we recently switched to U-Verse. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP 54g wireless router than was handling the PPPoE function. It was set to work flawlessly with my wireless cards. No dropped connections, speed or security issues. It always connected quickly from wake up and on start up. Now we have a 2Wire i38HG wireless router/gateway and it's been difficult to properly set my network up as before. I use the Trendnet behind the 2Wire as my wireless router. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but DHCP is disabled on Trendnet so 2Wire does what it needs to. This option works fine for me. The only problem is that at first my wireless card would not automatically connect to the network through the Trendnet when it is in range like I had it set to do previously. When I would force it to, after 3 times it would magically connect on it's own. I made some changes in the Trendnet (Mainly disabling dynamic DNS and NAT) and that seems to have made a difference. To be honest, I don't know if that is significant or not or if it actually made a longterm difference but it seems like it has. So my problem is now that when I put my laptop to sleep and have it wake up, it does not automatically reconnect. It takes about 2 minutes then it does on its own. I read the event viewer and this is the info it gave me - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

After this, it connects by itself. I don't believe I have configured the 2Wire or Trendnet properly, so I need some guidance and suggestions on this matter.

- I did not change the IP of the Trendnet and I am not sure if I have to.
I want to change router channels to avoid some interference. But do wireless adapters automatically identify the new channel or do I need to change those too?
I've been having a problem with my wireless network connection. Whenever I try and hit the Repair function,it will get stuck on Renewing your IP address for a moment, then change to: Windows could not finishing repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Connecting to the wireless network. I have internet connection on this same computer.Another point to make is that when I click Repair and navigate to the Network Connections window, then hit F5 ( refresh the window ), the wireless connection will quickly refresh and connect normally without error.I won't have to open the Network Connections page and hit F5 anytime I need to repair the connection? Also, as of right now, it's still "Acquiring network address" even though I'm connecting and typing this message.
I have a problem on a 1131ag Access point on recycle it stops and makes me maunually type BOOT at the ap: prompt

i bought the TL-WR841N a week back. the problem is that the internet connection has a web based login( wherin i have to go the "login.hathway.com" and enter a username and password provided by the service provider). i was wondering if there is anything i can do so that the wifi router on its own can log on to my account automatically every time i connect a device to the router. This would save alot of time for me.
I recently got an E1000 router brand new V2.1 from a friend. Seems to run great, only problem both my Mac Book Pros (running snow leopard and lion) will not reconnect automatically to the wifi after waking up from sleep.

I have a shop and retail TP products.I have had in the past 2 days three TD-W8961ND's returned due to internet issues.upon investigation the problem is the same in that DHCP is not enabled on each of the 4x ports.It is the same across 3 customers and occurred last week end.
I log onto other wireless networks the first time by inputting their passwords. My iphone then always automatically reconnects wirelessly to them without have to input the password again. The phone can be asleep for a few minutes or I can be gone for a month. The phone always automatically remembers & reconnects to these networks.However, it doesn't work that way with my d-link system @ home. Everytime the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the wireless connection is lost. There is no automatic reconnection. I have to input the password each time in order to re-establish the wireless link. My printer and laptop seem to stay connected. d-link settings I need to change in order to get my iphone to automatically connect all the time?
