I recently got an E1000 router brand new V2.1 from a friend. Seems to run great, only problem both my Mac Book Pros (running snow leopard and lion) will not reconnect automatically to the wifi after waking up from sleep.
View 1 RepliesEvery two or three days I'm unable to reconnect to my wifi network when I turn on my Windows 7 laptop or Android tablet. I have to power cycle the wifi router to get the connection again. This usually happens after I haven't used either device for a day or two. The connection usually does not drop when I'm using them. Restarting the computer or the tablet does not work and using the Windows troubleshooter (or the android app for wifi issues on the tablet) also doesn't work. Both computer and tablet recognize the network and say the signal is strong but won’t connect to it. There are no physical obstructions. I have no problem with my internet connection (cable modem). The problem really seems to be with the wifi router.

My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout 6 months ago I bought a new router (Linksys E1000 v2.1) which worked great right out of the box. A couple months later I tried to setup a home network so that my two laptops could access a shared drive on my wired desktop, but for some reason they didn't show up as being on the same network. All computers involved are running Windows 7 if that matters.
Upon a recommendation from I friend I put DD-WRT on the router and it worked fine. Setup MAC filtering and WPA2 Personal security. This worked fine for about 4 months until today.
When I got home from work today I noticed my laptop wouldn't pull up any web pages, but it said it was connected. Then I noticed my iPhone wasn't connected either. I restarted my laptop and then it wouldn't connect to the wireless either (I could see the wireless, but I would get a Could not Connect error when I tried to connect to it).
I went to my desktop and it is working just fine, it is plugged into the back of the router. I also have an AT&T MicroCell (cell phone booster) that is plugged in to the back of the router and it works fine too.
I removed the encryption and MAC filtering. I then reset to factory (or "factory" DD-WRT) and now the wireless works, but it is MUCH slower than my desktop. I ran a speedtest on my desktop and got 12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. On my laptop, I get 0.03 Mbps down and 0.25 Mbps up.
I used to have ATT DSL but we recently switched to U-Verse. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP 54g wireless router than was handling the PPPoE function. It was set to work flawlessly with my wireless cards. No dropped connections, speed or security issues. It always connected quickly from wake up and on start up. Now we have a 2Wire i38HG wireless router/gateway and it's been difficult to properly set my network up as before. I use the Trendnet behind the 2Wire as my wireless router. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but DHCP is disabled on Trendnet so 2Wire does what it needs to. This option works fine for me. The only problem is that at first my wireless card would not automatically connect to the network through the Trendnet when it is in range like I had it set to do previously. When I would force it to, after 3 times it would magically connect on it's own. I made some changes in the Trendnet (Mainly disabling dynamic DNS and NAT) and that seems to have made a difference. To be honest, I don't know if that is significant or not or if it actually made a longterm difference but it seems like it has. So my problem is now that when I put my laptop to sleep and have it wake up, it does not automatically reconnect. It takes about 2 minutes then it does on its own. I read the event viewer and this is the info it gave me - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

Why is it that my netbook doesn't have internet access on my Private Network? But when I connect it to my Guest Network, it does have an internet access. It's the only device I have that doesn't have internet access on my Private Network. The rest are working. I tried all the possible options to connect a device but still the problem exist.
By the way, I'm using E-1000 v2.1.02
I log onto other wireless networks the first time by inputting their passwords. My iphone then always automatically reconnects wirelessly to them without have to input the password again. The phone can be asleep for a few minutes or I can be gone for a month. The phone always automatically remembers & reconnects to these networks.However, it doesn't work that way with my d-link system @ home. Everytime the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the wireless connection is lost. There is no automatic reconnection. I have to input the password each time in order to re-establish the wireless link. My printer and laptop seem to stay connected. d-link settings I need to change in order to get my iphone to automatically connect all the time?

I tried disabling the power management option where it allows you to turn off the device to save power but it still won't automatically connect to my network. I have to manually remove the adapter from the usb port and plug it back it for it to work again. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit,the latest drivers from Cisco's website, and my anti virus program is Microsoft Security Essentials

View 1 Replies View RelatediPad connects fine to WiFi leave it idle for 20mins and then when you wake it up, it doesnt reconnect. It is not just this 1 pad, i have about 20 users in the office with same problems.So far i have tried the following:
1. Update router firmware
2. Network initially had split up so each floor router was a DHCP server now only 1 DHCP server.
3. Test with different security WPA/WPA2 and No security.
4. Connect to different wireless router.
5. Try Apple's Airport but doesnt work in corporate enviornment(couldnt even get it working at home)
6. Try adjusting screen brightness (not in a million years is this a fix!!).
7. Static Addressing not an option as too many devices and it is not a fix.
I will be setting up a new computer this weekend. I presently have a WRT54G2 wireless-G router and have configured it to an IP address that works with my AT&T(Bellsouth) broadband modem (Westell). When I reconnect it to my new computer, should I first just connect the ethernet cable to the modem as if I don't have a router (like I did for years) and then go into the instructions for setting up the router via the DVD but enter the IP address as I have it working now?

My Linksys WRT150N recently gave up on me and started to give me weird issues and started to disconnect (all the ports including wired & wireless) anywhere from 3 to infinite number of times per day and my only solution was to remove the power chord and connect it. I tried all possible ways possible including resetting the router, stopping SSID broadcast, removing the encryption, etc, but non worked. As the router was out of warranty my only option was to take it to the dealers where they told me it would take 3 weeks to fix and God knows how much they would have charged me. But after flashing the firmware with the dd-wrt it has been almost 24 hours without a single problem and now I have the cool option of seeing who is connected to the router, etc. This is a MUST for every Linksys owner.
1. Reset the router using 30-30-30 and waited for 2 minutes for things to come back 2 normal
2. Flashed the router with "dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin"
3. Reset again using 30-30-30 and wait again4. Flashed the router with " dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin"5.

I just bought a Linksys E4200v2 router and updated the firmware to 2.0.26.124551. The DHCP server is turned on however, it won't issue any IP addresses. I have to set IP reservations for all of my devices in order for the router to give them an IP address. This includes my printer, xbox360 and 2 computers. I'm also having this problem with the wired and wireless lan.

My IBM T42 ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro has an Intel(R) PRO Wireless 2200BG Network Connection adaptor. The signal strength on the main floor of our townhouse is ~ 80%. My problem is the signal frequently disconnects then recovers automatically causing frustration when browsing the internet. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the configuration of the router by typing url...in a browser, be it wireless or weirdly. For example, Firefox displays "Connection has been reinitialized". Furthermore, when I launch Cisco Connect, it only shows the error "Unable to connect to router". I tried to switch my router off and on, but that doesn't work. It's been set at wpa2/wpa mixed mode all this time without a problem. Out of the blue: no wireless connection on any device. For my desktop PC in oder to use the router to get on the internet or to even use the Cisco Connect to check the router, the E1000 needs to be rebooted. I am unable to access the router otherwise. I have tried 3 different LAN cards all with the same results.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an E1000 for a couple of years that worked OK. Then it went nuts--sporadically dropped the signal, wouldn't show its web page, etc.--maybe a power surge, who knows? So I tossed it and got a new one on the theory that it would be a plug in replacement .The new unit had a good signal, but also wouldn't show its web page, so I couldn't configure security. I removed Network Magic and everything else I could see pertaining to the old unit. However, the CD for the new unit still gives me: " Your router has already been set up. You need to use an Easy Setup Key that you can use to get other computers connected." Needless to say, I don't have such a thing. Cisco Connect is not installed at this point, so I can't go into it to create one.How can I purge the remains of the old unit so the new one will install properly?
