View 1 RepliesI log onto other wireless networks the first time by inputting their passwords. My iphone then always automatically reconnects wirelessly to them without have to input the password again. The phone can be asleep for a few minutes or I can be gone for a month. The phone always automatically remembers & reconnects to these networks. However, it doesn't work that way with my d-link system @ home. Everytime the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the wireless connection is lost. There is no automatic reconnection. I have to input the password each time in order to re-establish the wireless link. My printer and laptop seem to stay connected. d-link settings I need to change in order to get my iphone to automatically connect all the time?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI used to have ATT DSL but we recently switched to U-Verse. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP 54g wireless router than was handling the PPPoE function. It was set to work flawlessly with my wireless cards. No dropped connections, speed or security issues. It always connected quickly from wake up and on start up. Now we have a 2Wire i38HG wireless router/gateway and it's been difficult to properly set my network up as before. I use the Trendnet behind the 2Wire as my wireless router. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but DHCP is disabled on Trendnet so 2Wire does what it needs to. This option works fine for me. The only problem is that at first my wireless card would not automatically connect to the network through the Trendnet when it is in range like I had it set to do previously. When I would force it to, after 3 times it would magically connect on it's own. I made some changes in the Trendnet (Mainly disabling dynamic DNS and NAT) and that seems to have made a difference. To be honest, I don't know if that is significant or not or if it actually made a longterm difference but it seems like it has. So my problem is now that when I put my laptop to sleep and have it wake up, it does not automatically reconnect. It takes about 2 minutes then it does on its own. I read the event viewer and this is the info it gave me - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

Then after 2 minutes -
Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

After this, it connects by itself. I don't believe I have configured the 2Wire or Trendnet properly, so I need some guidance and suggestions on this matter.

My problem is, that my wifi will be working one second, and the next it will disconnect me, and wont let me reconnect! It will show me available connections, and will try to connect, but, fails. Usually happens when waking up from sleep, or using the laptop for long periods of time.

1. Update router firmware
2. Network initially had split up so each floor router was a DHCP server now only 1 DHCP server.
3. Test with different security WPA/WPA2 and No security.
4. Connect to different wireless router.
5. Try Apple's Airport but doesnt work in corporate enviornment(couldnt even get it working at home)
6. Try adjusting screen brightness (not in a million years is this a fix!!).
7. Static Addressing not an option as too many devices and it is not a fix.
went to uninstall the other two and then went to install our new one on the main computer.I have now lost connection with the wifi to this pc and only this one. (the internet still works on two laptops) unfortunately i need this computer for work and therefore need the internet quite urgently. Perhaps uninstalled something by accident and if so what is it and what can i download?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using my ACER tablet with my Netgear router for several months with no problems at all. Then last night I decided to restore my tablet to its default settings, meaning that all my programs, apps, files, etc., were erased. Then I rebooted my tablet and started from scratch, entering the requested information. Everything appeared to be going just fine until I turned on Wi-Fi and attempted to connect to my network (Secured with WPA2), which was available and showed Good signal strength. I clicked on it, then attempted to enter my password. As soon as I entered the first digit of my password, the option to Connect to the Internet immediately disappeared, becoming greyed-out. Repeated attempts to connect failed for the same reason.
I called ACER Level 2 Support and tried a couple of procedures which didn't solve the problem. One was pushing the Reset Button twice. The technician told me that I may have a problem with my router settings. He suggested that I go to a local fast food outlet and see if I could connect there. I went to McDonald's and was able to get on the Net without using a password. I returned home and tried again to connect, but still was unable to enter my password.
Would it make sense for me to completely disconnect my router from everything, then reconnect and go through that set-up process all over again? I guess I would have to change my User Name & Password, or whatever is required. Also, if I go this route, should I change my security setting from WPA2 to a different option -- WEP, for example? I just don't want to foul things up to the point where my laptop wouldn't work. I doubt that would happen. I recently received the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade which has been working satisfactorily; however, it does mean that I'm now attempting to start over from scratch with a different operating system.
I have a home network using WEP 128-bit router and my phone is Motorola Atrix with AT&T. until I did the jellybean update to android my phone connected automatically with my home wifi but now it won't connect at all. In all other placed with wifi or hotspots it connects automatically and even with secure networks it saves the password and stays connected. I tried my local AT&T store and they said all my settings in the phone were right and suggested I reboot my router which I did. Nothing has corrected the problem. The wifi doesn't stay on long enough for me to put in my password to connect.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwin xp I work at a junior high school. A lot of the computers are part of a work group so they can share printers.
I'm having problems connecting to a printer. It has worked for a long time, it's still my default printer, but when I try to access it, it gives me a spooling error.
Now here's why I think it's a network problem.I can't access the main computer's network location (the one hooked up directly to the printer). All the other computers come up on the networkjust fine. And the one in question is only able to access very few computers in the network browser. let me simplify:
computer A/ brother printershared computer B/no longer sees A on network A/ sees only a small portion of other computers on network B/ sees all computers but A
Again, I don't think it's a spooler problem. It probably gives that error because it's a default printer with a lost connection.
Netgear WGR614v7 Router.I have three computers wi-fi networked via the Netgear router: a laptop, a Mac Mini, and a XBox 360.About 30% of the time, when I wake my laptop up, it's been dropped from the network. The only thing that seems to allow it to connect again is if I unplug the power from the router and plug it back in again. This also happens to the XBox 360 once and a while. It never happens to the Mini. I suspect the Mini never gets dropped because it never gets turned off or goes to sleep. Some things I've tried to no avail:
- restarting my laptop
- manually reconnecting to the network via the icon in the system tray
- ipconfig /release, /renew
- disabling power management on my network adapter
- updating my router's firmware
My research keeps pointing to my router's "idle timeout" setting, though that may or may not actually be the problem. In my router setup, I currently have the "Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?" setting set to No. When it's set to No, I do not have access to my Idle Timeout setting. If I set Login Required to Yes, I do have access to Idle Timeout, but none of my computers can connect, and I'm unsure how to get that working properly. I've read that if I set Idle Timeout to 0 (zero), it essentially never times out.
I have Inspiron 1525 with Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. After reformat, the network will not detect wireless modem after I think I have downloaded all pertinent drivers. In Device Manager, under Other Devices, The Network Controller shows an exclamation mark that under Device Status says, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I have turned on the button on the left of the laptop and still missing something.Prior to the reformat everything was working well. I had the Blue Screen of death andthat's the reason for the reformat.

I have internet connection on this same computer.Another point to make is that when I click Repair and navigate to the Network Connections window, then hit F5 ( refresh the window ), the wireless connection will quickly refresh and connect normally without error.I won't have to open the Network Connections page and hit F5 anytime I need to repair the connection? Also, as of right now, it's still "Acquiring network address" even though I'm connecting and typing this message.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI used to have an old G5 tower running OS X 10.5 (Leopard) which I was using as a file server. In this tower I had a USB dock connected where I could plug in 2.5 inch drives from my archive and then access them over the network by connecting to the G5.
Last week I upgraded my "fileserver" and I am running OS X Mountain Lion Server on a regular Mac Pro tower. When I connect to my new fileserver via Finder I am only able to see the local hard drives but none of the external ones. I can add a share-point for the external drives but that is not very practical since I am always connecting different drives from the archive.
So what I would like to have is that when I plug in an external drive to my file server it shows up in the network shares without me having to create a share-point for every different drive I connect.
i have a user running Windows xp pro, the problem is one of his network drives does not re-connect at logon, all the other drives re-connect but for some reason this one does not, the network drive is on a windows server and does not require different logon credentials than his windows logon.

I had a virus called something like Cloud AV 2012 so I used Malware Bytes to remove it and it worked just fine. However, now the internet does not seem to work (there's that yellow triangle with the exclamation point) and when I try to run diagnostics, the message "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings" comes up. So far, I've tried rebooting, disabling proxies in all of my browsers, and running scans, And I also cannot system restore, because apparently windows security was turned off and there are no restore points

Yes I'm using a router. The other computers connected to the router can connect to the internet but mine can't. It also says "unidentified network - no internet access" when I click on the computer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. until I downloaded from a music site which gave me the virus I think. Now, I'm not certain if the virus is removed or not. I tried system restore point but it won't even let me restore my computer anymore for some reason, maybe because of the virus.

On my regular laptop, my internet icon has the yellow triangle and when I trouble shoot it, the message says "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings".Recently I noticed my computer was heating faster (and hotter) than usual so I ran a search again and it said no threats were found. I have ran the search twice since then and still nothing. I was advised to use ccleaner, malwarebytes, and Super Anti-Spyware. It removed one other threat but the problem was still there. I then started using combofix, but I did not like the look of it so I stopped that scan. It seemed a little sketchy. As of this morning, I'm having the internet problem. My old laptop (the one I'm on now) and my girlfriend's laptop work fine. I connected it with the Ethernet cord and that didn't change anything. I have Windows 7. It's on a 2010 Samsung (I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure about all the other details).

Then within a random interval ranging from 5 seconds to an hour, the VPN loses the connection, and is not reconnected. Only a reload of the remote ASA will reestablish the VPN tunnel. Then everything is fine until the next disconnection. Both sides have matching lifetimes, and keep alives are enabled on both sides.
