Wireless Does Not Automatically Reconnect Out Of Sleep Mode
Jun 28, 2011
I used to have ATT DSL but we recently switched to U-Verse. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP 54g wireless router than was handling the PPPoE function. It was set to work flawlessly with my wireless cards. No dropped connections, speed or security issues. It always connected quickly from wake up and on start up. Now we have a 2Wire i38HG wireless router/gateway and it's been difficult to properly set my network up as before. I use the Trendnet behind the 2Wire as my wireless router. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but DHCP is disabled on Trendnet so 2Wire does what it needs to. This option works fine for me. The only problem is that at first my wireless card would not automatically connect to the network through the Trendnet when it is in range like I had it set to do previously. When I would force it to, after 3 times it would magically connect on it's own. I made some changes in the Trendnet (Mainly disabling dynamic DNS and NAT) and that seems to have made a difference. To be honest, I don't know if that is significant or not or if it actually made a longterm difference but it seems like it has. So my problem is now that when I put my laptop to sleep and have it wake up, it does not automatically reconnect. It takes about 2 minutes then it does on its own. I read the event viewer and this is the info it gave me - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Level - Warning
OpCode - IpLeaseRenewalFailed
Source - Dhcp-Client
Then after 2 minutes -
Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Level - Error
OpCode - IpAddressNotAssigned
Source - Dhcp-Client
After this, it connects by itself. I don't believe I have configured the 2Wire or Trendnet properly, so I need some guidance and suggestions on this matter.

I have a Dell Inspirion M5110. Windows 7, 64 bit.
When ever I open the lid to the laptop it takes 5-10 mins before it will automatically connect to a network. Diagnose this network does not find anything, nor provides any troubleshooting. Typically if I open the network connections center and disable the wireless, let it sit for 30 secs or so, and re-enable, it will finally connect.
I know it's not my router, as the laptop does the same thing at work, and multiple different friends house.
I've confirmed that DHCP is set to automatic connect. I've also checked Device Manager/Network adapters/ and unchecked the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

I log onto other wireless networks the first time by inputting their passwords. My iphone then always automatically reconnects wirelessly to them without have to input the password again. The phone can be asleep for a few minutes or I can be gone for a month. The phone always automatically remembers & reconnects to these networks. However, it doesn't work that way with my d-link system @ home. Everytime the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the wireless connection is lost. There is no automatic reconnection. I have to input the password each time in order to re-establish the wireless link. My printer and laptop seem to stay connected. d-link settings I need to change in order to get my iphone to automatically connect all the time?

I have a new Linksys E3000, 2 wired disktops (1 windows 7, 1 windows vista), 2 wireless laptops (both windows Vista), whenever the computers power down into sleep mode and are woke up, I have lost my connections to the router and I am forced to restart the computer. I've been told by one person that this is a problem with vista and windows 7, but wouldn't that have been a problem with my old router also?

I use a WUMC710 bridge with desktop PC and a Printer connected to it. When those two devices have been inactive for a while the bridge goes into sleep mode and loses the connection Back to my EA6500. Trying to print something from wireless devices connected to the 6500 elsewhere in the network doesn't "wake up" the bridge. Ihave to unplug the power supply and restart it.

I have a Dell E4300 with a 1510 wireless mini adapter running windows 7 pro with a netgear WNR3500 router running wireless N protocol. I have my laptop setup to sleep when lid is closed. When it awakens the wireless connection will not automatically reconnect and I have to manually select the SSID and connect. It will also reconnect if I use the network troubleshooter. The problem does not happen if I reboot the PC or start from a power off situation. I have the latest Dell driver and I am running the DWLAN utility.

So whenever I put my desktop to sleep and then turn it back on, I cannot connect to the internet. My laptops are fine and can connect to the internet w/ the wireless however. When I have windows diagnostic run a troubleshoot and repair, it tells me it can't communicate w/ the primary DNS server and that resetting the Local Area Connection will fix it (And it does). If I restart the computer, it seems to fix this problem as well.I don't get why it can't communicate w/ the DNS and that I have to manually reset the LAC everytime I turn on the computer from sleep mode.

I am completely baffled by what is going on, on our network. We have four HP C4005 Printers. All of them connected to different switches around the network. About every 1-3 hours they all give the error 49FF09 (which is pretty vague, basically a network connectivity issue). Have to reboot to get rid of the error, then it will work again for an hour or so and give the same error (whether print jobs have been sent or not). This started a few days ago out of no where.
I am starting to think its an issue with the network, because they will all go offline at the same time. If I run a constant ping to them, they will all go offline at the same time and return the error. We use all cisco equipment. If I check the port statuses they all say up 100 full with no errors.
I have tried disabling sleep mode on the printers, turned off multicasting, updated firmware for printer and for jetdirect, and used different drivers.

I am trying to download large files which are taking about 3-8 hours to download. I don't have that much time, so I have to put my computer into sleep mode. Now, the problem is, I put it into sleep mode, turn it back on, Chrome says the downloads are finished. I open one of them, and it says the file is corrupt.

I'm using aironet 1210, 1130, 1100, 1040 autonomous mode, in a University campus network with thousands of daily user. We're using RADIUS authentication and AES/WPA2.In the past, there were some major issues with traffic (broadcast / multicast) in the wireless networks, that would spread all around the campus causing excessive processing at the access-points.To solve the problem we decided to implement access list at the radio interface to drop all the unwanted traffic. [code]
I'm pretty sure this is caused by the ACL (I've tested removing the ACL and the issue never occurred) but I can't just get ride of it.
Any alternative way to drop broadcasts?

I'm having an issue where essentially my only course of action is to unplug the router and plug it back in. I can connect my laptop (Dell Inspiron N4010) and my phone (HTC Inspire) once. But then if I put my computer to sleep, or I take my phone out of the wireless range and come back, I cannot connect again. I've gone through and played with the settings (changing the upnp, the beacon intervals, the channel, etc) but to no avail. Invariably, I always have to come back to unplugging and plugging back in.
Also have a Kobo E-Reader and a wireless Canon printer. The whole point of a wireless printer was so that it would stay connected and I can print from my laptop. This router is making this useless.

Got a new EA6500 a few days ago and from the start it acts as if times out and goes to sleep. Any time I enter a URL i get a long pause then the website unavailable message... refresh a few times then suddenly it works fine. this is for both connected and wireless. Even when I have the Linksys Smart WiFi open, I'll get a pop-up message that no router connected, then it goes away and everything is fine. Sometimes the old Windows Network message pops up asking me to connect. Works fine once it's "ON", but always have to refresh page a few times to get it to wake up.

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TD-W8968
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 0.6.0.1.1 V0005.0 bld 12016 rev 48690
ISP : Talktalk
yesterday (GMT) I received and installed my new TD-W8968 from Amazon and seemed to work a dream.. until today. The router connects to my desktop PC via a wired LAN connection but uses the wireless for laptop, TV, smartphone etc. Today I notice that when my PC wakes from sleep the LAN connection is lost. None of the LAN lights are on. And also there is no wi-fi connection either and even though WLAN light is on there is no signal at laptop. Setup is pretty much out of the box though I did reset channel to avoid conflicts locally. This is set to 7. The PC LAN adapter is enabled and ready but no apparent connection to router. I changed the router LAN port and that seemed to work but after I had the problem again this change did not work. I changed the LAN cable and that seemed to work until next sleep! Then fail again!
Is there anything on LAN adapter or router that needs changing? Am I on the latest firmware and would an upgrade fix this?

I just upgraded my motherboard and I'm happy that the WUSB 300N is still working. Slightly annoying issue when I wake my computer from sleep. No internet connection and when I go to adapter settings, the WUSB 300n is disabled. If I click enable, nothing happens. The adapter will immediately come back to life and connect to the router and internet if I unplug it and then plug it back in (the usb connector).I also notice that the adapter is still on when my computer is asleep, all of the lights are still on and blinking, this is not the same behavior that it had before, then it would just appear to be completely off. The motherboard is a MSI P67A-GD65 with an intel i5 2500K. There are some different C-State power settings that I'm not familiar with (previously had an AMD based mobo and processor).

I have a dell vostro 3350. I use it with both Windows and Linux OS (Mint, Ubuntu).
Recently I faced an issue with my motherboard (I guess it was a matter of short-circuit) so I called the Dell assistance and they quickly came out and substitute my motherboard. After that intervention, my wi-fi and figerprint reading stopped working at all. So I called again Delle assistance and they substituted both the wi-fi and the fingerprint reader. Everything seemed to work fine... since my PC went in hibernate mode.
In fact now the wi-fi card is disabled (not even seen by the OS) after the PC goes in sleep/hibernate mode or even if it is turned off and than on again. I need to turn off and on the PC at least one more time the PC in order to make the wi-fi card found (and working) again.
I checked with all the three OS I have in my PC so I guess the issue isn't related to the drivers. On the other hand, it looks like the wi-fi works totally fine... when it works. It is quite a systematic effect and not related to bumps or mechanical sullicitations, so I guess it is not a matter of wrongly-connected card either..

I will be setting up a new computer this weekend. I presently have a WRT54G2 wireless-G router and have configured it to an IP address that works with my AT&T(Bellsouth) broadband modem (Westell). When I reconnect it to my new computer, should I first just connect the ethernet cable to the modem as if I don't have a router (like I did for years) and then go into the instructions for setting up the router via the DVD but enter the IP address as I have it working now?

I have a Belkin 690, model# F9K1002V4 that's been working great until I had to turn off and disconnect some things in order to replace my old tv stand. After I straightened out the mess of wires from everything and made sure all the connections were good all the other components including my satellite modem were working fine, but the wireless router won't reconnect. It's working fine with a cable but won't work wireless even though the blue indicator shows the actual router to be working okay. I've repeatedly reset/re-powered the router to no avail. Firmware is up to date.

Every two or three days I'm unable to reconnect to my wifi network when I turn on my Windows 7 laptop or Android tablet. I have to power cycle the wifi router to get the connection again. This usually happens after I haven't used either device for a day or two. The connection usually does not drop when I'm using them. Restarting the computer or the tablet does not work and using the Windows troubleshooter (or the android app for wifi issues on the tablet) also doesn't work. Both computer and tablet recognize the network and say the signal is strong but won’t connect to it. There are no physical obstructions. I have no problem with my internet connection (cable modem). The problem really seems to be with the wifi router.

I have a Linksys wireless WMP600n PCi adapter installed in my desktop PC and after recovering from standby, it does not automatically reconnect. I have to right-click on the Wireless Networks icon in the system tray then select "Repair". I would say it does this 9 times out of 10 (1 time in 10 I seem to luck out and it restores the connection automatically).
I have an Asus M4A88TD-M motherboard with 1 Gb of DDR3 RAM and I am running Windows XP Home Edition (SP3). There is only one PCi slot on this motherboard. Also, I am not using the wireless network software that shipped with the product but rather the native wireless networks application software that shipped with Windows XP. I have had this problem with the original driver that shipped with the product CD and the problem persists with the latest driver. I have not enabled Hibernation and there are no active power saving modes on the PC.I have reviewed all of the options in the Wireless 600n Properties/Advanced tab and have enabled the Continuously Awake Mode and disabled the Power Saving Mode but the problem persists.
I have two other PCs with the older Linksys wireless WMP300n PCi adapters and they do not exhibit this behaviour after recovering from standby - they reliably reconnect.
