D-Link DIR-825 :: Unable To Connect Through External IP Back Into Server On Applications?
Aug 7, 2011
Just updated to the 1.01 firmware on my DIR-815 and now it doesn't handle loopbacks anymore.
For instance, I have a dyndns address of ericnewton76.dyndns.org. This points to my router. Works fine if you're NOT within the router's internal network, ie, outside hosts can get in just fine (try it... http:// , you'll see an IIS7 welcome screen)
However, when INSIDE the network, the requests don't get connected properly, and they used to... ie, I work with code, so my svn repo is at ericnewton76.dyndns.org/svn but inside my network it doesn't connect properly anymore (whereas it used to before firmware update)
So now I wish I could back-peddle to 1.0 firmware.
Most of my applications and games that connect to the internet are unable to do so. My browser is working fine, though. This morning, my AVG found 2 trojans, and deleted them. However, it also deleted a couple registry keys along with them. I suspect this might be the problem, or maybe the antivirus itself, but I don't know which keys were deleted.
I've installed XAMPP on one of my Vista computers, and intend to use it as a server. The internal IP address of the server is A.B.C.D. The internal IP address of the DIR-615 is A.B.C.E. whatsmyip.com says that external address of the server is F.G.H.I (and so is everything else inside my network). I have Filezilla listening on port 21. I've turned Windows Firewall completely off on the server, and my ISP (Time Warner / Road Runner) says that they never block any port.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Port Forwarding, and set ports 21 & 90 to forward to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. That didn't work.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Virtual Server. I set a virtual server on port 21 to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. It made me turn off Port Forwarding, and it wouldn't let me use both 21 & 90 on the same rule, so made two rules. That didn't work either.
I tried setting A.B.C.D as a DMZ host. That still didn't work.I can ftp connect into A.B.C.D from one of the other computers in the network. People outside the network can't connect to F.G.H.I. I can't connect to F.G.H.I. from inside the network. The same is true of Apache (but ports 80, 81 & 443), Ventrilo (but ports 3784 & 6100) and MySQL (but port 3306). I figure that FTP is the easiest to test, so I've been just trying to get that to work.In FileZilla Server Options, I am bound to *, I have no filters, and my passive mode is set to "Retrieve external IP"As far as I can tell, if I've ruled out anything inside my network (by connecting internally), and I've ruled out my ISP (they don't block), then it must be the router. I think I've done port forwarding according to [URL], and it seems like it should be easy, but I've been trying forever and I can never get it to work.
i cant connect to most of my friends through xbox and computer, i also cant connect to some games servers. it also says that i have a nat strict. i don't care if my router has no security. i just want my internet to be fast and i can connect to people.

I recently purchased a tl-wr842nd, my printer is a hp laserjet 1020 and it is in the compatible list as I seen. The problem is that I connect the printer in the usb routers port and the led do not light up, I tried putting my pendrive to see if the usb routers port wasn't working but it does since the pendrive is accepted and online and the usb led lights.I downloaded and installed the latest firmware but there's no change, I did everything like it saids in the faq 415 where it explains how to install and use printer server with no luck.
Why is loop-back only working on ports forwarded in the Virtual Server section and not Port Forwarding or even DMZ? I have seen a post about loop-back on the DIR-655 from a while ago that had said to disable SPI and change NAT Endpoint to independent, I have done this and loop-back still doesn't work.
Both my DIR-655 and DIR-815, when setup as wireless access points, are unable to ping external IP addresses and thus cannot contact the dlink ntp servers. I've disabled UPnP, disabled DHCP, changed the LAN IP address to an available address on the network. The wireless works, devices are getting an IP from the network DHCP server and can surf the internet. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses.
I would like configure two router (e.g. 1921) back to back via a 2 pin copper wire. Can I use HWIC-4SHDSL-E card to do it? What is the configuration I can use?
I have a server running Windows Server (can be 2003 or 2008 if it matters). The server has multiple IP addresses allocated to it.I want to use the IP addresses *as if they were remote high anonymous proxies*. I want all traffic to and from each application to use the same IP address and I want to be able to add the IP addresses to applications in the same way I would a remote proxy (presumably using 127.0.0.1 ort)So for each 127.0.0.1 ort address traffic travels like so:
application <-> localhost <-> internet facing IP address <-> remote site
Is this even possible? I know I can do this using a seperate Linux VPS running squid but I'm curious as to if it can be done on one server running windows.
We're trying to access Citrix applications on customer`s server, but the error message attached pops up every time I try to access any application. Actually, this is the same error message when we try to use ssh protocol. I'm pretty sure I have loaded all the plugins for this. All the other functionalists are ok for this equipment.
After upgrading the firmware of the router from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04 I have been unable to update my apps through the app store, nor login sucessfully to sites such as 4shared (on all computers and phones in the network).
I have a ASA 5505 configured with three VLANs: Inside, Outside, and DMZ.I am running an exchange server on the Inside network and have configured NAT to allow connections to it from outside. This works fine. I can also happily connect to it using it's internal address from the inside. In the DMZ I have setup a linksys router to work as a guest wifi network. I configured the ASA to block any traffic from the DMZ to the internal network. This has been working fine for the last few weeks.Wireless users cannot access any internal resoureces, but can browse the internet etc.. etc..
My problem is that I want users to be able to connect to the wireless with smartphones, tablets etc..., if they do so, they can access the internet, but not get their email. From my (limited) understanding, the problem is that the ip address I am trying to connect to is the same ip that I am transmitting from. Is there any way to send the packets to the outside network and then loop them back to the exchange server?

I am trying to restrict external access to a ftp server I have running, to a single external IP address. Is this possible? It can be done for the Remote Management IP Address page, where you can enter a single address or 255.255.255.255 to allow all external hosts. But the set up of a virtual server does not appear to have that option.
I have a Linksys WRT350N which I am trying to use an app on my iPhone to connect to my server using the public/external IP of my cable modem. I have the necessary ports opened and also tried adding the server to the DMZ but no matter what I can not get the app to connect to my server via my external IP when I am on my WiFi. I can connect without any problems if I use the NATed IP on the server when my phone is connected to the WiFi. It also works fine connecting to the external IP if I am on any other WiFi or the cellular network (which shows ports are forwarded correctly). I just can't connect to the server when I use the external IP and I am on my WiFi network. This is annoying as I need to keep changing the app's settings back and forth between the external and internal IP whenever I am home or away. I am left thinking this is some kind of issue with the WRT350N not allowing local internal traffic to reach the external IP. Any way to resolve this, maybe by entering a static route?
I have a hosted web server that has a website on it that needs to connect back to a database within our internal network. We have a Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless Router with 2 VLANS. VLAN 1 goes to a Watchguard Firebox which is connected to our internal network. VLAN 2 goues to our classroom network.
Our database is on VLAN 1. I have opened port 1433 on the Watchguard to allow SQL traffic from our Web Server. I can telnet from my workstation on VLAN 1 to the Web Server over port 1433, so I know the Web Server is not blocking anything. When I try to telnet from the Web Server to our Public IP address over port 1433, it fails.
I believe I have the firewall on the Cisco WRVS4400N off, so it shouldn't be blocking any traffic, but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I have been working on this for two days, and I NEED it to work. This was working up until last week, then it quit working. I am the only person making changes to our network, and there were no changes made during that time.
I'm trying to connect to my home laptop from work. The home laptop is connected to DIR-655 router. I set up the internal and external ports to 3389 using both TCP and UDP protocols with the Application as "Remote Desktop". From my work PC I enter the external IP with :3389 and it fails to connect. I have also tried accessing internally which is failing too. All computers are running Windows 7 Home Premium Remote Access is enable on all.
I have a DIR-825 Rev. B1 wireless router running FW ver.NA2.0.7. I want to connect a Seagate 4Tb external HDD with USB 3.0 into the USB 2.0 port on the router to use the hdd as a NAS and run backups of the data files on the computers of my home network. The computers are running Windows 7 - 64bit. Plugging the hdd into the USB port on the computer lets it be recognized and ensured that Windows 7 had the most current drivers. When I plug the external hdd into the USB 2.0 port on the router and then plugging in the hdd and resetting the router, I still cannot get the computer to find the hdd on the network.
Few days ago I started to get the following error message while trying to connect to the internet using Chrome and IE:"Unable to connect to the proxy server..."I don't have a proxy server configured - nothing is checked in the LAN settings page.In Firefox I don't have that problem - it seems it gets the proxy configuration from elsewhere.
I am having linking a computer to our SBS server. The computer in question is set in a warehouse on our site. We have a leased internet connection which is used on a number of different offices. The sbs-server has an IP address of 192.168.50.254 with a gateway Ip address of 192.168.50.1. The firewall on this network has an external IP of 10.50.0.37 with a gateway of 10.50.0.254 and this links to the leased line equipment. The external IP address for this network is 62.7.70.237. The PC in the warehouse has an IP address of 192.168.0.2 attached via a router to the leased line. The routers Ip address is 192.168.0.1, the external IP address is 10.50.0.55 and a gateway of 10.50.0.254. This links to the leased line and seems to have an external Ip address of 62.7.70.238. My issue is that I want the PC in the warehouse to be able to connect in some way to the SBS-Server. I cannot seem to access it via the external IP or the gateway (10.50.0.37).
They came and installed a router and disconnected my old one. I then connected my new ISP router to my switch and now Im just stuck. At one point I was able to connect to my drives but was unable to connect to the internet. But once I call the ISP they had me change setting for Ipv4 changed defualt gateway, Ip address and DNS after that I was unable to reconnect to my drives. I've done full shut downs and restarts and nothing has worked. 1 of the computers connects to the server through wifi. I also run a VPN.
I'm running LMS 3.1 with CM 5.1.0 on a single Solaris 9 server. I've been unable to open topology services. I get an error "cannot connect to ANI server". I've confirmed that the ANIServer6.0 is running (it says "Running with busy flag set"). I've also tried restarting the Daemon Manager. What should I look at? Could it be a Java problem?

As we say, I followed all the directions but I am unable to setup the ftp server on this router. I even disabled Norton's firewall but am unable to access the server via WAN.
We are having a network of 7 computers and a server (Ubuntu server). The problem is, two of them are not connecting to the network. When i check the network card of these two systems, it seems working (the green light is blinking). When i replace these systems with a laptop, it connecting to the network and there is not problem at all.
Unable to connect to the internet. I am able to connect to my router which is virgin media but cannot connect to the internet. I get a message saying cannot communicate with primary DNS server (194.169.4.100)
I have a cisco 1841 router and a cisco 2900xl switch. I am trying to get my ACL's to work, but when ever I do an extened acl and let certain one in (80,443,21,etc) my computer gets an internet error saying it cannot conntact the dns server. I've tried severl ways to fix it, but cannot seem to get it to work.
Right now i just have access-list 1 on. Eventually I would like to have only "Apple" and 101 on.

I am trying to create a backup of my 2620 router so I can use for GNS3. I have only configured the IP address on my FastEthernet port. Having many issues with no connection to my pc, finally I found that you must enable the interface 'no shutdown'. Now I have a valid connection
I can connect to the network but doesn't connect to the internet. I have tried a lot of ipconfig cmd's /renew said "unable to connect to dhcp server" and others didnt work all out of ideas.
Work station of domain network stopped accessing the server and internet. Assigned IP address, since DHCP would not hand out automatic IP address. Was working fine before today.
