View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I find my network security key? I had to remove my Toshiba Laptop (Win 7 OS) from my home network because I kept having to troubleshoot in order to connect to the network. Then the troubleshooter would tell me that I had a cable unplugged (not true) and it had to reconfigure my wireless adapter every time. I am trying to get the laptop back in the network but I keep getting the message that the security key is mismatched. The one I have worked the first time, but not now.My wireless adapter for the laptop is Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and when I check its properties the message is that this device is working properly.

I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.
This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants, but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser. It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.
I am trying to connect to a Security-enabled wireless netowork. I have the key. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to enter it. When I try to connect I open the "view available networks"window. I see the network name and it shows a strong signal (all 5 green bars).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP DV7-1135nr running vista 64bit. Due to lack of space and generally needing to be refreshed, I used my recovery CDs to "factory reset" my laptop to the way it was when I bought it. After it finished I attempted to use the Internet wirelessly and it would only connect locally. I chose to repair the signal in the "network and sharing" window and it said it could not communicate with the DNS server. I plugged in the Ethernet cable and it jumped right online. I used windows update and after 4 hours of updates and restarts, I tried wireless again it only connects locally. Back to ethernet I logged onto HP website and tried to scan my computer for driver updates with there tool but the site was down. I checked my adapter and it is an atheros 5007 but when I searched for atheros or atheros drivers I couldn't find anything that seemed legit. They don't have a website? I read forums and found posts of people shutting off a DHCP broadcast flag with good luck. I found a few having problems with the same adapter as myself but none of this started until I restored it this time. ( I have restored it 2 times before with no problem). My next step was shutting off all the security. It worked and everything was great until i turned the security back on. It reverts back to local only. I tried wpa, wpa2 and no luck. The only thing I can think of is that my drivers are old, I checked the version of windows and it still is on sp1, why hasn't it updated to sp2 yet?
View -1 Replies View RelatedOur office has three networked computers. 2 xp pro desktops and 1 xp media edition laptop. When I set up Access to work with all three I found somewhere that said that xp media has to have a password for that configuration. I'm hoping that was wrong. We backup from the Laptop (Media) to a desktop (XP) and it is currently requiring a passwordThe 2nd destop does not need a password to use shared folders on the main computer. The laptop (media) asks for a password the first time I try to connect to the main computer. I'd like to eliminate the need for a password. I have double checked the settings for gpedit.msc and the "limit local account use of blank passwords" is disabled

View 8 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue with a Cisco Linksys E1500 on a home network. The device has a feature to provide a guest wireless network but the guest network can't get to the internet. A wired connection is fine, as is the normal wireless network but not the guest. The cheesy thing is, that it doesn't list an option for what type of wireless security protocol you want on the guest network. I'm assuming that it uses the same security protocol that the normal wireless network uses, but who knowsEspecially weird is that it asks you what password you want on the guest network but then the guest network show to be insecure when you try to connectthought maybe it was something funky with some of my configurations so I went ahead and factory defaulted it and just set it up with an insecure network for both the normal and guest networks. This didn't solve it. The guest network still couldn't get to the internet. In fact, the guest network can't even ping the router.
