Linksys Wired Router :: E4200 Has Faster Upload Speeds Than Download?

Mar 24, 2013

I just upgrade my service with Comcast so I can now get up to 50Mbps, however the modem when directly connected to the PC can obtain these speeds, it does not when the PC is connected to the E4200 router. In fact the Cisco Connect speed test shows the upload speeds (10+ Mbps) to be faster than the download speed(4.82 Mbps). I upgraded the firmware to the latest level but it did not make a difference.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP600N Slow Download - Fast Upload Speeds?

After recently intalling the WMP600N wireless adapter I have had great trouble getting it working properly.

Current performance

- signal: verygood/ excellent
- download speed: ~1mb
- upload speed: ~2mb
- signal speed: 18-54mbps (lots of variance but never above 54)

Comparison to my laptop

Laptop in same location with wireless G capability

- signal: verygood/ excellent
- download speed: ~20mb
- upload speed: ~2mb
- signal speed: 54mbps

my router is a D-Link wireless N router I recieved from my ISP.  I do not believe my router is to blame for this problem since I have a laptop with an inferior wireless adapter recieving 20X the download speed.Drivers I have installed the latest drivers for windows 7 and I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Extremely Slow Download Speeds

Jun 5, 2011

All I want is functional Wi-Fi in my house like the rest of the world. Unfortunately, I cannot have that for whatever reason.

Now that I said that, Let's me get down to explaining my issue. I orginally owned a Linksys WRT350n. This router worked fine for years, untill one day I decided to do a speed test on my new Motrola Atrix. My Wired computer gets ~22000kbps down and 4000kbps up... My wireless speedtest on my Atrix yielded 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up. I assumed it was the phone, so i went and tried every other wireless device in my house. Everyone of them got the same result.. 2000kbps down.. 4000kbps up.

At this point I went into my router settings and tried every available channel, all of them yielded the same result of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up.. At this point, I assumed it was the router. Ive had it for a few years and figured it was just reaching EOL. I rushed to my nearest bestbuy to pick up a brand new Linksys E4200. I brought it home, hooked it up and was eager to test my new wireless speeds. Unfortunately the same results of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up was the yield. Once again, I've tried every possible channel with no change to my speeds. At this point I called up Linksys/Cisco support.. They were POSITIVE it was a hardware issue and had me exchange the router, even though I informed them i had the same issue with my older router of a different model. I went along with it anyway, and exchanged my router. Same issue. I called Cisco/Linksys back up and informed them, and basically they told me "they'd make a note of the issue and call me back at a later date."

I downloaded a WiFi Analyzer on my cell phone. Theres only two other dectable networks in my area, and they are low low low signal. So, I don't believe it's heavy saturation. The router is in the same room as 3 of the wireless devices that get 2000kbps down/4000kbps up. So it's not range either.

D-link Dir-615 :: Wifi 300mbps - Upload Faster Than Download

Nov 25, 2012

I have recently acquired a network connection of 100Mbps download and upload, and a dir 615 with dd-wrt.

I made all the connections and configurations , and everything seems to work fine it says it's connected at 300 mbps wifi, except it is not . I tested the internet speed and got this :

80 mbps Upload
35 mbps Download

I know that connecting via wifi will loose bandwith, the problem ins't that, I just cant seem to find the cause for the download rate to be less than upload and not equal... , when connected to the cable I get a stable 100/100.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Very Slow Download And Upload Speeds

Aug 17, 2012

We recently bought a home and just moved in.  That being the case, we got a new ISP (Cincinnati Bell DSL).  The service is advertised as "Up to 5Mbps."

My current equipment:

PC:
OS Name   Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version   6.1.7600 Build 7600
Other OS Description    Not Available

[Code].....

So what can I do to achieve faster speeds?  Am I limited by the hardware I have?  My Dell is roughly 6 years old.  Am I limited by Cincinnati Bell?  Is it the location of the wireless router?  Are there settings I can adjust to create a faster connection?

Cisco WAN :: Upload / Download Speeds Difference In 5510

Apr 14, 2011

I have a synchronous 10 Mb connection to my isp which I have conneted to a CISCO asa 5510. I have done a lot of testing and there is a very noticable difference in my upload/dowload speeds. When I connect a laptop directly to the Cable from my ISP's equipment and have the NIC set to autosense, I get similair results for Download/Upload Speeds I have tested and get 9 plus down and 8 plus up.When I either connect the asa directly to this cable and set to either 100/Full or autosense OR I place a non-managed switch in between the asa and the ISP's equipment My upload speed drops dramataically.    The Download speed stays about the same 8 Mb Plus  but my upload falls off the face of the earth drops to about a 1Mb. I have noticed this many times when I am going from a cisco 800 series router to a Cisco ASA.This is severely limiting my ability to perform replication out from my locale.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Slow Wired Download Speeds On Windows 7 64

Mar 24, 2011

Router:Dir-655 (Hardware Ver B1;Firmware Ver 2.01Na)

Cables: Cat 6
Machines: 1. XP SP3 w/d-link DGE-530T desktop; 2. XP Pro SP3 w/dlink DGE-530T desktop; 3. Win7 64 (Latest Drivers)

Problem is that the XP machines can download 25Mbsp on speedtest.net but the Win 7 only manages 5Mbps through dir-655 -- ALL WIRED CONNECTS!.  Connect Win 7 directly to modem and d/l is 30Mbps 2 hour Netflex test of wireless indicates good performance. D-Link support had me going in circles for a while until I finally suggested that a firmware update was in order.  They assured me that this had been id'd as a problem and that latest firmwire would certainly solve it.  It did not.

Linksys WRT160N Router - Download Speed Slower Than Upload?

Dec 30, 2011

I am getting very slow download speeds on my wireless router (Linksys model#WRT160N). I measured it on speedtest.net. with my ASUS laptop, ASUS Transformer Prime tablet, and 2 Ipod touches. All similar speeds.

Download avg: 1.30 Mbps
upload avg: 6.20 Mbps

I measured my desktop speed that is hardwired through the router to the modem.

Download avg: 30.00 Mbps
upload ave: 6.20 Mbps

I have scanned all the wireless connection in my area and found them to occupy channels 1, 6, 11. I tried changing my channels one at a time for all 11 channels. Some did a little better than others but not a lot. Also, if I by a dual channel router, can all wireless devices pick up on the 5GHz spectrim and if some, could this alleviate some interference? Is it possible that my router is going bad and a new single channel 2.4 GHz router will be fine?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Download Speeds With E1200

Apr 29, 2012

I have an E1200 that will work fine for a while, then suddenly the download speed for all wireless devices will drop to between 20-30 KB/sec.  It happened last night when we were watching videos on Hulu.  We were blazing along fine, when all of a sudden the connection was horrible enough that we had to stop watching.  We have no idea what changed - there are only two of us in the house and we were both passively watching Hulu.

This has happened before, and usually changing something like the wireless channel has fixed it, but not this time. The PCs we have that are connected to the router via Ethernet get between 1-3 MB/sec, so I know it's not the modem or the ISP.The signal strength is good (4-5 bars).  I have tried repositioning the router and the wireless reciever but that hasn't worked.I have the latest firmware for the router as far as I know (v2.0.02).

I have tried every channel available (including "Auto").  I have tried switching the Channel Width between Auto and 40 MHz.  I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and re-uploading my configuraiton.  I have tried setting QoS.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT400N Slow Download Speeds?

When everything is working fine I get download speeds of about 35MB and upload speeds of 5MB which is normal. This issue comes and goes. I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.

Cisco Wireless :: Slow Download Speeds With Linksys WRT160N V2 Router

I have a Linksys WRT160N V2 wireless router that I am using with my Comcast Internet service. When I connect to the router via cable, I get download speeds up to 52Mbs (per www.speedtest.net). When I test my wireless connection, I can only get download speeds up to 14.5 Mbs, even though the Windows “Wireless Network Connection” speed shows 54.0 Mbs. I also verified this with another laptop, and got the same results. I also checked upload speeds, both wired and wireless I get the same speed of 11 Mbs.

Is there some reason I can’t get faster download speeds with a wireless connection?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt160N Version3 Download Speeds Fluctuate Greatly?

In the mornings I'm getting around 20Mbps download speeds (using the same tests). Could this huge difference be caused by my service provider and/or amount of people online in the evenings? Is there anything in the router settings that could/should be adjusted? Below are the release notes for the new firmware version:

1. Fixed issue with NMH series. `
2. Fixed PPTP client cannot get ICMP response from Internet.
3. Fixed issue with NTP
4. Fixed issue with L2TP UDP packets can be received in Internet side.
5. Fixed TZO and DyneDNS not automatically updating.
6. Fixed some Wireless protected setup issue.

Linksys Wired Router :: RVS 4000 Slow Upload Speed?

Feb 8, 2011

I am using a Cisco RVS 4000 to test a new 10M/10M internet connection.  I'm having a small problem performing the ISP's speed test (speedtest.cavtel.net).  The download test consistently gives me 10Mbit/s, full speed for the connection, however the upload speed is usually about 5.5 Mbit/s. My ISP has been onsite and has checked the lines and tested directly, and we have determined that if connected directly we can test to full upload speeds, but when the RVS is connected, we cannot get full speed.

We've tried different cables, reseting to factory defaults, updating firmware, changing port settings, and toggling most of the other setting on the router. Some settings do have a minor effect on the upload speed, but nothing that gets me back up to 10Mbit/s.

I did notice that there appears to be no way to set speed and negotiation settings on the WAN port. Perhaps I am missing it, because that seems like a possible culprit.

Otherwise, the only only thing I can think of is a warranty return to determine if the unit itself is defective.

Every time I upload a zip or far, the file comes out ends up being uploaded corrupt and double the original file size. I have used 2 FTP clients, using either ASCII or binary. No matter how I go about it, I can't make the files upload at the normal file size. Its not just archives, however, I tried an mp3 and it too got uploaded corrupt and double the size. I then downloaded the mp3 to try and play it but it didn't play in windows media player. However I loaded the 'corrupt mp3 into audacity and the file played like normal.
