I tried to upgrade the firmware of my RV042 router. I downloaded the file (RV0XX-v4.0.0.07-tm-20100819-code.bin) and check the cheksum. When I try to upload it, I have the message "413 Request Entity Too Large". How can I do ? Should I unzip the .bin file (it's about 30Mo) ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been reading posts on this board that state that after upgrading the firmware on a router that you must re-set the router and re-configure your connection. I have just downloaded and installed the latest firmware update for the BEFSX41 (1.52.16.4). When the installation was complete, my network connection dropped out. I then got a "searching for ip address" icon in my notification bar. The connection then completed and my network seems to be running as it should. When I check the set-up screen for the router, it shows the new firmware version. Do I still need to re-set the router? I'm a bit confused by all of this. I have Comcast cable for my isp.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have three locations using the linksys wrvs4400n router with IPSec VPNS. They all work fine and point back to a Server2003. I just added a fourth location with the same router but this new router has firmware v2.x, where the others have firmware v1.x. When I connected the new router into the VPN network, it caused the other tunnels to go down. When I take the new router with firmware v2.x offline, everything else seems to work fine. Can the v2.x firmware cause the other VPNS on v1.x firmware to go down and not work properly? Do I need to upgrade the firmware so all 4 linksys wrvs4400n routers are operating the same version number so not to cause the tunnels to disconnect?

I've been using this router since 2006, upgrading the firmware to version 1.52.15 when released in 2007. At that time I think I selected the edition 1 rather than edition 2. Basing decision on the fact that the device had no indication of which model version was correct indicated on the manufacturing labels on the bottom. So I assume edition 1.
Is there any way to tell which hardware release I really have? Maybe by MAC address, or Serial number?
Have not had any problems with the 1.52.15 firmware version, however, I have seen numerous log entries for the following:

the sending URL indicated as a PRC (Chinese) university with negative traceroute results, nothing really alarming as nothing is getting inside the firewall. Just packets dropped from the senders IP. I am keeping track of the pattern and activity levels.
Will probably just block the whole addy range at the router firewall and PC firewall. AT&T is totally ineffective in blocking this sort of back alley activity.
I've seen only one brief and somewhat dated reference to the "ii=MAX_HTTPSESS" entry and will tackle that issue after updating the firmware to 1.52.16, I haven't found any authenticated tech references for this. I can only make some educated guesses on tweaking HTTP settings.
I'm trying to upgrade the firmware of a BEFSX41 wired router from version 1.43.3 (apparently the first revision after the original realease) to 1.52.15 (the latest I found), but I can't get it to finish. I'm using a Mac with all the latest versions of OS, Safari, and Firefox. When I use Safari to initiate the upgrade, it get's to the point where it says "Please wait ! Setup will take a few minute _____" and nothing else happens after that, even after waiting 30 minutes or more. When I use Firefox it gets to the same "Please wait" message, then a few minutes later Firefox displays an error message "Connection Interrupted: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.

Tried upgrading my firmware to 4.0.2.08-tm and now I cannot log in via the web interface. The router boots and gets out to the internet. It still allows incoming vpn connections. The login screen displays and will display an error message if I use incorrect credentials, but if I log in properly and am directed to the routers web config homepage at "192.168.1.1/default.htm", I get a 404 error message. Telnet does not work either (not sure if it's on, never used it before) 404 Not FoundThe requested server-side-includes filename, /usr/local/EasyAccess/www/htdocs/default.htm, does not seem to exist.As if the web pages after the login screen got removed or corrupted after the update.

After upgrading the firmware on my RV042 router to version 1.3.13.02-tm, I am experiencing very slow Internet response on most sites. In some instances, when the page does load, it lacks many graphics. Frequently, I also receive a "server not found"error. In all cases, reloading the page (once it has loaded) results in a complete page display. This is occuring on two MacBook Pros and also on an iPad. The router is a version 1, so no further upgrades are available. I contacted support, but since it is out of warranty, they are unwilling to assist. Prior to the upgrade, everything worked fine, as it has for 5 years.

I now cannot login into the router using my user name and password (nor the old admin/admin). The router is functioning, but I fear it will eventually fail. How can I recover ability to log in? VPN is required to permit the two branch offices to use Avaya IP phones to connect to our main head office switchboard.We also have users on Blackberry and Apple iPhones to collect their mail through OWA from our Exchange 2010 server.
I've noticed in one of your threads that the RV042 routers configured for VPN do not permit the use of HTTPS to connect to OWA and that seems to be the problem for us. Since installing the VPN our OWA access is not possible.
What can I do to resolve this problem and what router would you suggest that I could use at the head office to enable the two branches to connect VPN to head office? And if there is a suitable router, would I need to replace all three?
I recently upgraded my DIR-655 to firmware version 2.10NA , 17, Oct, 2012.Ever since the upgrade, on a wired connection the router will occasionally not serve pages. This shows up as a DNS error, stating the DNS lookup failed. If I wait a bit and reload the page, it will sometimes resolve itself. If I bypass the router and plug directly into the modem, the problem goes away completely.This is happening on my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.7.5, any browser (I use Chrome mostly, but also Safari and Firefox have the same issue). This is not happening on my Linux laptop which I use wirelessly, or my iPhone or any of my wireless clients, though the same MacBook occasionally has trouble connecting if I DO try to use it wirelessly (I receive a connection timeout and cannot log on). I'm not certain at this point if the trouble is with the router or the computer, but it only began happening (and happened immediately) after I installed the most recent firmware.
My security setup, if for any reason it matters, is WPA2 with MAC address filtering.
I have never setup a GW to GW VPN with a FIOS connection. I have done it with DSL and cable without any problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a Network set up with a RV042 router. Router is hooked up to Cox Cable and ATT DSL. Currently have 20 computers hooked up to the router all using Static IP addresses. Setup has been in place for over 7 years. I want to set up a Wireless Access point on this network. The problem is, I can't seem to get DHCP to work right even WITHOUT the Wireless Access Point. I have taken one of the computers that works great with a static IP and changed it to be DHCP, I have enabled DHCP on the router and set the from and thru parameters for the IP assignment. The computer will connect and get an IP address and it allows me to see all the INTERNAL servers on the network but going to the Internet is REAL FLAKY. I usually have to refresh 5 or 6 times to get a web page and sometimes even that don't work. If I do get a page to come up there is about a 10% chance that it will bring up a subpage of that page without doing a refresh 5 or 6 times. Its like it won't hold the connection to the Internet. I did notice one thing different in the User Manual of the RV042 that is different than all the other Linksys routers I have worked with. It says that when you enable the DHCP on the router, you then make sure ALL computers hooked to it are set for DHCP. All other routers I have worked with do NOT use that word ALL. Am I missing some setting or is this a binding thing where you are either ALL static or ALL DHCP?

They also have seperate DSL connections as we have 2 external IP address for clients to connect remotely. We don't want to take away our exisring setup, but would like to bridge both networks so a few of our internal clients can connect to our CCTV network and use some of the devices. Right now they come in on VPN but its not as fast.Is this doable without adding additional hardware? Both networks need DHCP enable as well.

Here is how it is setup: my email and web come in thru one outside address..call it 166.5.5.5 I have a 1 to 1 nat for 166.5.5.5 to 10.0.0.2 (email/web/ftp server) ports 25 and 53 are forwarded to the 10.0.0.4 (barracuda) then out on 25 to my 10.0.0.2 no emails go thru as long as it is set this way I can nat the 166.5.5.5 to the barracuda first and emails go thru, but I lose my web and ftp will this router work for me? I was told that i needed to change mx records for email to 166.5.5.6 and then forward nat on that address to the barracuda. I dont really want to change mx records for 10-12 email domains.

The question is what is the VPN throughput of these devices?I have gone over the website, spec sheets and they only really say the throughput of the LAN Links and not the WAN Links. I currently have very reliable 20Mb+ Synchronous connections between all 3 sites and have not been able to get any good performance out of the Netgear devices and contacting their support is a joke. They can't tell you anything other than it should work or we will swap out the unit. Well if I have 3 of them that have been purchased at all different times I don't believe that they are all having the same issues. What these units 3DES VPN Throughput and will more than likely be purchasing 3 of which ever once suits our needs immediately.

I can ping the RV042 and log into the administration page and make changes. However, I can not see other computers on the remote network. I can not ping them. When I open my Network page, I still see the computers on my local network.
All machines are running Windows 7 Ultimate. ISP is Comcast at both locations. WAN IP's are dynamic, but have not changed in over a year. Local IP's on the remote (home) network are static..[url]....
Spent a lot of time trying to configure a time warner set up. Users are using 2 SMC 8014 and one RVO42 on the network. Cannot access the internet.
