Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WRT54G2 - Can't Connect Using Password

Apr 2, 2009

Just got the WRT54G2 and setup it fine with or without encrytion and passwords - however when I setup the other 2 pcs on my network - the only way I can get them setup and going is WITHOUT encryption and password protection - setiing up without encryption on those works fine, but it defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do.  I was on the phone with Linksys for over an hour and they can't seem to get it to work either - guess they got stumped and after an hour - I was put on hold and then cut off.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cannot Connect To WRT54G2

Oct 5, 2011

Went away on vacation for a couple of weeks and when I got back my Linksys WRT54G2 has lost it's configuration.  It's showing a WiFi signal, but is no longer password protected.

I've tried connecting with a desktop on the same network, to 192.168.1.11, but that address is not connecting.  I tried to reach it with my iPad wirelessly, and it's giving me the login screen, but not allowing me to login.  I tried to use the reset button on the back to reset it to the factory default, but then I should be able to login with no username and the password of "admin", correct?  But that's not getting me in either.

I'd like to get this network password protected again and not offer a signal to all of my neighbors.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Connect To Internet Using WRT54G2 V1

Jul 8, 2011

When I connect the ethernet directly to my mac the internet works fine, but when I try to connect through my Linksys WRT54G2 V1 Wireless-G Broadband Router I can't connect to the internet. Omitting a few minor problems, my router has been working fine for the past year and a half. Recently it started giving me trouble so i have started trying a number of things to fix it, but I'm no expert in this category. The other day i tried updating the firmware which actually worked for a couple of hours, but then stopped working again.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Connect Wirelessly To WRT54G2

Jan 2, 2009

I have a WRT54G2 router with a desktop wired to it. The desktop is mine and my roommate wirelessly connects with her laptop and has been doing so no problem for about 6 months (ever since we got the router). On Christmas Eve, she was connected, went out, came home and found she'd lost her wireless connection. Now she can't get it back.I can still get online on the desktop.i've power cycled to no avail. What is weird is sometimes she will click on the list of available networks (so she can choose which she wants to connect to) and mine WILL be there, other times it will NOT. If she does happen to catch it at a moment when my network is there, and she tries to connect using the passphrase, it says "Trying to connect" or something to that effect, for like 3 minutes and then nothing happens. Also, not that I would need to, but if I go to "connect to" on my PC (as if I were looking to choose a network to connect to), my network name doesn't always show. It is random. Sometimes it does not even show when I go to "Networks" on my desktop.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 V1 Cannot Connect With Smart Phone

Nov 5, 2011

I have verified that I am using the correct password and it is finding the network just fine, it just can't connect. I have had this problem with my laptops as well, but with them I just copied the key to a USB key and used that to get them going. I don't have that ability with the smart phone.

how to best troubleshoot this issue and resolve it? I have also reset the router to allow anonymous internet access with no positive result there either.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unable To Connect To WRT54G2 Config Page?

Jul 11, 2011

I recently (~month ago) switched to a new computer after my old one (which I had configured the router on previously with no problems) died.Since then, I have been unable to access my router's config page (entering in the ip address simply results in a blank page with no prompt for username/password). Switching browsers (I've tried Firefox 5 and IE 8) does not solve the problem, nor does disabling AdBlockPlus/NoScript on Firefox. Any way to access my router so I can begin forwarding ports again?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 - Connect Ethernet Switch (for Hardwired Connections)?

Dec 29, 2011

In my main office, I have a cable modem which is connected to my main E4200 router. All of my equipment (except my Ooma) is served by the E4200. The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network. In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.

I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).

How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 Doesn't Automatically Connect To Internet On Computer Start-up

Aug 12, 2012

My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.

Linksys WRT54G2 Has Connection But Won't Connect

Jul 7, 2011

I've been connecting my WRT54G2 router to our modem, and then using another ethernet cable to connect to my PC. That way I can have a wireless connection in my room and also be connected on my desktop. However, recently, I reset my router because I was having connection issues with a certain program, and I ran the setup CD afterwards just like I have every single time I've done this, but now I can't connect. I can access the router settings and everything just fine.It says I have a connection, and when I connect my desktop directly to my modem, I can connect just fine. When I have the router connected to the modem and try and connect wirelessly with another device, the access point pops up, and it begins to connect, but then fails in the end.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: AE3000 Will Not Connect?

Sep 9, 2012

I picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3.   I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though. This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

I called Comcast (My ISP) and they claim it is a faulty product.
