I've tried every password I can think of. I've reset the thing 5 times (with even up to 1 minute of holding the button) and used the admin password, even blank. I've powered it off and on. I've checked my linkups and used different wires. The thing is fully powered. The ethernet and power are green and the wireless blinks.

The lights tell me that the adapter is talking to my computer. The ethernet and wifi lights blink. What can I do other than unprotect my network? How can I set this up manually if the computer can't even see it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got the WRT54G2 and setup it fine with or without encrytion and passwords - however when I setup the other 2 pcs on my network - the only way I can get them setup and going is WITHOUT encryption and password protection - setiing up without encryption on those works fine, but it defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do. I was on the phone with Linksys for over an hour and they can't seem to get it to work either - guess they got stumped and after an hour - I was put on hold and then cut off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI came across this issue with a number of APs in an installtion last week.All APs were new LAP1142s and the controller is 5508.None of the APs (14 in all ) were able to join the controller.Actually they started the joining process , but it seems to get disconnected in between.I am pasting the output below.
Interestingly the issue was resloved after i Resetted All the LAPs again. (all 14 of them worked fine after the reset , but there were no prior configurations on the LAPs , they were just opened From The Box).

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, brand new Inspiron n7110 lappy running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). Got it home, fired it up and found that it could see the network, but refused to actually do anything with it, or even cough up a specific error message other than 'Windows was unable to connect to (networkname)'.Fiddled with it for a while, entered and re-entered the passkey, mucked about with settings, made sure that the network name and whatnot were all entered correctly, and eventually got annoyed and simply disabled security. Lo and behold, it worked beautifully... sometimes. Connectability was still badly erratic (didn't get any unplanned disconnects, but when it booted up, it was pretty much even odds as to whether or not it would connect). But as soon as I re-enabled security (WEP, in this case.I suppose I really should figure out how to get WPA to work, but one problem at a time >.<)The router is a Siemens SE567.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of my customers uses Comcast email and all of a sudden couldn't send messages the other day, telling me it was giving her an error. She said that she reset her router, and the email started working again.When I finally got over there to check it out, the email had started experiencing problems again. The error she was having was Error 550: Message Rejected (when trying to send email). There didn't appear to be any issues with her internet connection, and she wasn't having issues connecting to the email server, it was simply rejecting her messages.
I told her that she would have to contact Comcast, as there was really nothing I could do to fix their email server returning an error. She wasn't too happy, and remained convinced that her router had something to do with it. It's a Netgear WNDR3700 or WNDR3800 that I setup for her last year, it's a fine router.Has anyone ever had a Comcast email server randomly start rejecting messages? I noticed that her outgoing email was set to use port 587 which seems like a nonstandard port and also no authentication, but I have no idea what the Comcast email settings are supposed to be.
I've got a 1760 router which uses port forwarding (25, 80 and 443) for my internal network services. If, let's say, I try to open a FTP connection on the router, of course the connection will be refused. Is there a way to make the router DROP the packets instead of rejecting them? View 5 Replies View RelatedI run the CD setup disk and the driver install correctly.In the "Connecting the Adapter" screen I click next before connecting the adapter,the setup screen just close with out any notification and no icons on the system tray.I shut down the machine, insert the adapter and power on the machine,now I have the monitor icon and a wireless connection icon in the system tray (the Power led is green and the Link led isblink),when I double click on the monitor icon I got the following screen: no available wireless and the refresh, connect and manual setup are disabled.when I click on the "open the monitor" form the right click menu I got the following screen: also nothing to do on this screen.so I think it's was because I don't have any wi-fi around me, I shutdown the computer raise my wi-fi andrestart the machine, now the led in the same status but the system tray icons didn't appears and when Itry to open it from the menu it's run for few seconds without any screen and disappear.

The AE1000 works great so far, in the one day I've had it, and it appears to start itself and connect when turning the computer on (unlike other people on here that I've seen). BUT, it's all pointless if I can't put my computer into standby. The adapter kicks it right back out as soon as I try to sleep the computer.
I've checked the device settings and "allow the device to wake the computer" is unchecked (in fact, it's grayed out). I rarely turn off the computer; I much prefer to just put it in standby. I don't want to have to unplug the adapter every time I do that.
I recently re-installed Windows on my PC, and I had the Wireless-G PCI Adapter installed before I done the re-installation.Now I've re-installed Windows, the adapter doesn't work. Do I have to re-do the whole process again? Also, I didn't actually install it myself, so any detailed step-by-step tutorial?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though.This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a hard drive failure recently and replaced my HDD with an identical HDD (WD 500 AAKS) and did a restore from my WD Passport Essential. Everything works as before except I can't install my AE1000 wireless adapter. The OS recognizes the new hardware and I attempt instalation form the setup CD. Istallation goes until it gets to the "Installing" step and then it just stays there forever until it comes back with an error. I am accessing the internet now through a cat 5 ethernet hook-up.

I am running Vista and have the bridge connected to a WRTP54G wireless router...I have also turned with Windows firewall OFF. My network has been setup properly and all other components work fine.
I have tried the setup CD, but get the "The Setup Utility was unable to locate a Wireless G Ethernet bridge..." message.
I have also held the reset button for 30+ seconds and tried to log into the bridge directly using the IP addy (192.168.1.226)
I am having some trouble getting my computer with Windows XP to use the Linksys model WMP54G wireless - G PCI adapter to connect to the network in my house. I have installed the hardware and the drivers. When I open the view available wireless networks window my network shows up with two bars of strength. But when I select this network and click connect, I get an error message saying "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. However, when trying to log on, it asks for the network key, which I correctly enter and it attempts to log on, but fails to connect! I have called Linksys, and they claim it is my ISP's fault. When I bootup It connects at 130 mbps and if I let it sit for about a day or so it will eventually connect at 300 mpbs which is what I want it to connect at after boot. I dont see a option in the drivers for this adapter to force 40 over 20. Seems it connects at 20, then after so long it moves to 40.

After starting the computer, it had no network-connection, nor could it find any network anymore . The led-light keeps flashing blue and the device gets pretty hot.
I've tried about everything, i think:
- I've tried to update the drivers, but the installed driver were already uptodate.
- I have re-installed the device with no effect.
- i've installed the device on 2 other computers; my Windows 7- laptop and my old Windows XP SP3-computer. The problems were the same there.
